Now, many things have shocked
Harry, and also have frozen him in his place, but this was an all time first
class surprise. As he entered his room, the first thing he noticed was that
there was a very high, yet controlled source of magic in the room, and
surprisingly coming from Ron’s bed hangings, which were closed. All of which
were alarming because of Ron always leaving his hangings open, a fear he never
quite explained, and also because Ron’s levels in magic were nowhere near that
level. Also, Harry could make out a very large lump on the inside, Ron was not
that large. What truly alarmed him was the sense of overwhelming emotion in the
air. Something was very wrong, and Harry was very shocked. This was not normal.
Creeping forward cautiously Harry
opened them and peered inside, and instantly calmed somewhat. Ron lay ensconced
in a twin sandwich, curled up on his side, breathing softly in and out, while
George and Fred kept guard on either side. George looked up at him, and when he
saw it was him, relaxed the tense hold he had on his wand.
“Hey.” Whispered Harry,
conscientious of his sleeping best mate, who looked relaxed and at ease, and he
didn’t want to disturb him.
“’Lo.” Whispered Fred quietly.
It was a rather adorable site, the
three read heads in a row, but even more so since the three actually made a
good looking trio. Harry smiled softly and cast a softening and muffled spell
on the edge of the bed and then sat down, to not disturb his friends. Sitting
Indian style, Harry looked at George and then Fred, each of whom were nowhere
near close to letting go of Ron, who lay peacefully betwixt them.
“So, what happened?” he questioned
softly after a few moments.
He figured they had gotten the
information from their brother, as they knew the right ways to get it, and were
persistent buggers. Also, the fact that Ron’s cheeks had the faintest signs of
tear tracks, and the very protective holds the twins had him in, showed that a
recent divulging of Ron’s burden had been had.
Fred and George shifted around on
the bed, after having cast a stasis charm quickly on Ron so as to not wake him.
Arranging themselves with their backs to the headboard, and with Ron curled to
his right, head lying on Fred’s lap, they finally began to tell Harry.
As he listened Harry could scarcely
believe his ears. When they finished, Harry was beyond livid, in fact he didn’t
know if he had ever possessed such a rage that was stirring within him. Leaning
forward, he pulled the twins attention by asking them what kind of revenge they
would like, and then they began to conspire.
~*~
Yawning, Harry rolled over in bed
and groaned. He had gone to bed too late, after having set some plans into
motion with the twins help. Even thinking of what the person had done to Ron
set his blood to boiling, and his magic to surging. Deciding to meditate for a
little while to clear his mind, he asked Sunan to tell him when it was time for
breakfast.
Clearing his mind, he felt finally
at peace. He wasn’t the boy-who-couldn’t-die or even the Gryffindor golden boy.
He was just Harry Potter, the boy who had a very large amount of magic, and
could use it to his needs.
It was his greatest secret, his
magic. It wasn’t known by anyone, excepting Sunan, the extent of his power. The
things he could do, and had done, were not normal low leveled magic. The magic
he had was of the highest and most powerful quality. When
he was young and just starting at Hogwarts, Harry had found a book that
explained how to test his magic, and the outcomes showed the potential they
had. His had been extremely high. Also cautioning on the matter of secrecy, the
book had showed how to improve and strengthen magic. Harry had dutifully
followed it, and by his third year, was capable of much, much more advanced
magic.
Things he never dreamed of doing
with a wand, happened when he thought of them. Many
times in the beginning it had scared him, and he had almost wished away his
powers. With practice and concentration, Harry had honed his skills to almost
perfection, needing only to control them and his emotions, in order to not stir
them up. There was no reason for his excessive amounts of magic. It wasn’t as
if he had some rare creature blood or some magical enhancement on him. He was
just Harry James Potter, and it was his normal magic level. Magic that he was
born with, and had always had, he wasn’t anything special, just his magic was.
Harry also had a secret, a deep,
dark, forbidden secret that he had sworn to never tell anyone, or anything,
excepting Sunan, of because of its gravity. Shaking his head, Harry scattered
the thoughts that had crept into his mind. It was not good thinking such
strange thoughts, and not good for his mind frame.
“It’sss
time Sssilly boy. You humansss
can be sssuch ssstupid creaturesss sssometimesss.” Sunan
whispered silkily into his ear.
Harry rolled his eyes and got up to
go take his shower, leaving his snake behind to curl up in the warmth Harry had
left on the bed.
~*~
Rolling into the Great Hall, Harry
was met first by hushed silence, and then the sound of high pitched giggles and
many, many whispers.
Confused, Harry strolled over to
his House and sat down next to Fred, who was paying attention to Ron, and
barely even acknowledged Harry.
“Err, did something happen?” asked
Harry confused, but thinking maybe Hermione had said something to everyone
about last night.
Neville who was usually so shy and
reserved peeked up at him from underneath his fringe quizzically.
“Haven’t you heard the news going
around?” Neville asked him quietly, leaning forward so
only Harry could hear.
Now completely bewildered on what
was going on Harry shook his head negatively.
Just before Neville could finish
his sentence, a frantic Ginny came running to the table, and plopped down next
to Harry.
“Harry! What dreadful rumors these
all are! How terrible it must be for you! However don’t worry,
no one believes them at all. Everyone knows it’s a bunch of rag.” Ginny gushed
emphatically.
“Ginny, what are you talking
about!?” bit out Harry, almost out of patience, and wanting now to know what
the rumors were.
Now it was Ginny’s turn to look
confused. Looking around the table at her fellow housemates she said, “Why, the
rumors about you being gay I mean. They’ve been circulating the whole school
since this morning!”
Harry felt himself still, and an
almost sense of betrayal filled him.
‘That slimy
bastardly snake.’ He thought angrily, filled with some foreign emotion
that he couldn’t even name.
Shaking his head, clearing away the
blinding anger he felt rising in him, he turned and looked at Ginny, and then
his fellow housemates.
“Look, Ginny, they’re not rumors.
They are true. I like men. Girls are too…unattractive to me. I’m sorry, I tried to make it clearer that I like you as a
sister more than as something romantic. I hope you can put this nonsense aside
and be my friend someday. Now please excuse me.” He said coldly, and then stood to leave
the hall.
Just as he was about almost to the
doors of the Hall, a banner erupted from the top of the door.
In big bold letters it read, “Harry
Potter Prince of the Poufs- Protector of the Prostates and Pricks!”
Feeling an intense rage, so angry,
and Harry realized, hurt, he calmly and silently cast incendio
on it, and stalked out.
~&~
Now, Harry wasn’t stupid enough to
think that Draco was trustworthy, but he did think for some reason that that
secret would have been safe with him. It was just in the way he had smiled, so
carefree and natural and unguarded, that it had never occurred to him that the
supposed garden snake was actually an Adder waiting to strike.
Part of him was disappointed and
part of him was amused, and an even smaller part was hurt.
He wasn’t expecting a miracle, but
he was expecting a change. It wasn’t the fact that he was gay that bothered
him, but Harry liked having his secrets, kind of like having something to
cherish that no one knew, and when he lost it he didn’t like the feeling.
It was like living your whole life
as a famous person, and having a dual identity, and that second person was just
an average joe. Then one day
someone realizes you and then your identity is gone, that was the feeling it felt
like. A loss of something held dear to him. He didn’t like it.
Frowning, Harry chucked a rock at
the large tree. It fell a few inches short, and he smiled. He was never one for
aiming. Scowling again, he realized he was never very good at judging characters
either.
‘Dammit,
I’m not mad that everyone knows I’m gay, I am mad that Draco told them. Bloody hell!’ Harry grumbled to himself. He scuffed his toe
in the dirt, angry with the way his morning had turned out. He wanted Draco to
be his friend, he had seen him in action with Alaenn,
and he could be funny, sweet, and was just one of those people you wanted to be
friends with, even if they were assholes.
Suddenly he realized that he was
beginning to come outside a lot when he was having problems. This was the third
time he had left the Great Hall to seek refuge on the school grounds. Of course
this time he had taken refuge in the forest, a clearing he had discovered in
his fourth year.
To be honest, Harry was kind of
lost. He had had this great idea for the beginning of the school year, to come
out of his hiding, and be his own person. Yet, here he was again, pretty much
the same as last year, only difference being that he wasn’t responsive to
Dumbledore, and his grades were highest in the year, although he had asked his
professors to keep it hush hush, surprisingly all had
agreed, even Snape.
Alaenn
though was a big part of Harry’s life now. Alaenn was
important to Harry. He reminded Harry of himself. When he had first come he had
been kind of lost and ostracized, until he made friends, and discovered more
about himself. Alaenn was just ostracized from his
house and was also kind of lost. Feeling a kinship with him, not to mention
Harry truly enjoyed his company, he felt obligated to not cause trouble for
him.
This year was in a muddle already,
and Christmas time was fast approaching. Leaning back against the tree, Harry
began to work the timeline out in his head. Starting with
before his birth, up to recent events.
Lost in his thoughts, the time trickled
on by, the morning passed to afternoon, and then the sun began to soften its
furious glaring rays, and become the softer set of early evening, and still sat
Harry deep in thought.
~!~
Entering his room, Harry glanced
over at Ron’s bed, where he laid, head on George’s lap, while Fred chattered on
about Quidditch. Ron’s eyes caught Harry’s and for a second he seemed scared,
but Harry smiled at Ron reassuringly, and Ron relaxed, and mumbled a question
at Fred, who then yattered on even more.
Abandoning Ron to Fred’s sole care,
George came and perched on the edge of the desk once Harry had situated himself
comfortably into it.
“You going
to really do it then?” George asked, running his fingers over the edge of the
desk, studying Harry over his brows.
Leaning back in his chair, Harry
glanced at the red head. His face was inscrutable, and although it was hard
set, the freckles and smile lines showed that the face though serious, could
also be friendly and full of laughter. It was a face Harry was beginning to
look forward to seeing more often, not in a romantic way, but in a it’s-bloody-great-to-see-you-way.
Nodding, Harry showed George the
letter he had already written.
“Just need to send Hedwig out. Have
to admit, I am rather nervous.” He confessed in George, who had proved himself to be much more reliable than he had seemed.
George thought about it for a
second, and then he bowed his head.
“We’ll stand by you Harry. Don’t
worry too much.” George said quietly, seemingly unruffled,
though Harry could feel the slight unease in his magic.
He was really the more responsible,
and serious of the two twins, yet here he was still taking risks, head first.. Harry smiled at him, and George ruffled his hair, causing
Harry to chuckle.
“Don’t you forget though, me and
Fred, we still care very much for you, and we think we ought to help you with
this recent predicament you got yourself into... We have some very important
information for you…” said George mock seriously, his eye now twinkling.
“Yes! Come, my young fellow fairy
friend, and sit with us knowledgeable men.” Called Fred from
Ron’s bed. Harry smiled at the enthusiasm in his voice,
even as he was certain this wasn’t going to be quite as valuable information as
they let on.
Ron was smiling though, and Harry
liked knowing his friend was happier, so he decided to go along with the
freckle faced twins.
Dubious of this so called
conversation, Harry nonetheless went and sat with the three red heads, after of
course George had grabbed a book out of Ron’s trunk, and propped himself up
next to Fred again.
“Harry, my friend, there are many
ways to enjoy gay sex…” started Fred.
“However, it’s very important that
you use lots of caution, so we have decided to inform you of all the ways to
stay safe.” Finished George, his face so serious, that Harry
almost missed the book title that George was holding.
“1001 Ways For
Wizards to Enjoy Gay Sex” popped off the book, its bright red coloring,
glaringly obvious in stark contrast of the constantly moving, obscene pictures
on the cover.
Instantly, Harry jumped up and ran
laughing, but thoroughly dead set on not hearing that talk, out of the common
room, chased by the loud laughter of the twins, and better yet, Ron’s laughter.
~*~*~*~
Bribing a first year Gryffindor
into getting his sack so he could do homework, Harry headed down to the
library, intent on getting some work done.
He had been avoiding the twins and
Hermione as best as he could, for fear of both of the lectures he may get.
The last few nights when he had
gone for study session, neither Alaenn nor Draco had
shown up.
It wasn’t a huge worry, but Harry
had missed their company immensely, especially Alaenn’s.
He hoped that all was well in their
house, and that things were going well. Lately, a lot of rumors about Harry had
been circulating, and it was starting to get frustrating. Things he liked to
keep private, suddenly many more people knew than he’d ever have liked. Not
only was it frustrating but it was stressful. He didn’t like that so many people
knew those things about him.
Also, since Harry had sent the
letter out, the very dangerous and risky letter, his stress levels had been
much higher than normal. He really wished for someone he could put his burden
on, other than his snide and cynical snake. Days like the one he was having, he
wished for Ron or Hermione, but then he felt selfish and snotty. Why should he
put his strife onto others, when it was his problem? He was being immature.
Stuffing the thoughts into the back
of his mind, Harry cast a quick glamour on himself, to be a nondescript
student, and slipped into the library, intent on getting himself lost either in
a book, or his school work.
After finding a few books in both
the Charms and Defense sections, Harry turned to go to his private cubicle.
Just before he entered, he happened to glance up and see something that made
him both very happy and very sad.
Alaenn
sat at a table surrounded by his fellow housemates, Draco included, working
diligently away on school work. The atmosphere was calm, and friendly, for
Slytherins anyway, and although Harry was happy for him, he was also rather
sad. Apparently, now that Alaenn had other friends,
Harry wasn’t needed any longer.
It bit very deeply into Harry’s
feelings, but then he rid himself of his pity. How spoiled was it to act sad
when Alaenn was happy in his house? It wasn’t fair
for him to act like that. He would be happy for his young friend. So, with that
in mind, he entered his cubicle, and dropped his glamour, and got to reading.
~*~!~*~
It was Saturday evening and Harry
was sitting in the Owlery petting a spare bird, thinking of trying the Animagus
spell, when Hedwig swooped in carrying a parcel.
She landed on his knee, after
dropping the package onto his lap. Hooting softly, she nipped him
affectionately on his finger before flying off to get some food and rest.
Looking down at the plainly dressed
parcel, he saw a small white note attached to it. It read, “To: Harry Potter.”
The writing was fancy and deliberate, and very formal looking. Harry opened it
up, and read it.
“I have enclosed a longer letter
answering your own interesting one. I look forward to a future meeting Mr.
Potter. LV.”
Shivering slightly as a breeze
whipped into the room, Harry opened the parcel, and then smiled. He had been
gifted with a set of the most expensive and rare Charms and Spells books ever
made. Apparently, they had a common agreement, or maybe enemy.
~*~
The snow fell that Sunday morning, and many
students went crazy over seeing it. There weren’t many students left at school,
most had already left for the Hols. Harry sat at the
Gryffindor table reading one of the books he had just received. It was The Spells of Magyk
and Harry found it to be incredibly entertaining, for its rather boring
title.
There were no other students in the
hall, and it made for a very relaxing atmosphere for reading. Harry did enjoy
listening to the sounds of the students come in and rush out the doors. He sat
there for many hours, reading and listening, enjoying his privacy, which was
only disturbed by Sunan’s occasional comments, which
also made him grin.
Finally, around mid-afternoon, he
decided that it was time to stretch his legs, and getting up he strode from the
hallway. Just as he passed the front doors, he caught sight of two figures
leaning against the door, apparently waiting for something. Harry felt a small
pang in his chest when he recognized Alaenn, and then
Draco, standing there. Being honest with himself, he really missed Alaenn’s company, and even sometimes Draco could be
entertaining. They were smiling, and looked absolutely thrilled with
themselves, so Harry turned and went on his way, forcing himself to not look
back and tempt himself.
It had been hard to accept the fact
that Alaenn had truly given up on him, and had also
been telling his fellow Slytherins facts about Harry, that had been told in
private. However, Harry didn’t blame the boy; he understood the wanting to fit
it that seized you. He just missed him.
Feeling like an angsty
teenager, Harry trudged on, realizing for the first time what a lonely and
boring Holiday it would be that year, with the
Weasleys and Hermione gone home.
~*~
Christmas morning had been typical.
Jokes from the twins, Quidditch protection gear for both the rider and the broom
from Ron, Hermione had gotten him a schedule that shrieked when he forgot to do
something or was running late, Mrs. Weasley had given
him cake and a green sweater with a red H on it. Ginny had given him a book of
Wizard love poetry, and Neville had given him a set of Wolffia
Angusta plants, which had actually made Harry smile
at its random thoughtfulness.
Harry had sent them all presents as
well, and had even given both Alaenn and Draco gifts.
He had sent them anonymously, and he didn’t think either would know the gifts
had been from him.
Currently, he was curled up in
front of the fireplace, thinking about his split from Dumbledore, his new
alliances, his plans, and mostly trying to read the book he had out. A hand
slid around his front, and flipped the page for him. It was a cold arm, and
Harry froze instantly in alarm. He hadn’t known anyone was there, and hadn’t
felt anyone approach him.
“Hello Harry my dear.” drawled the
owner of the arm silkily, and Harry was almost afraid, almost.
~*~
Harry was a bad planner, and after
the first meeting at Christmas time with his new alliance, he realized he had
to step it up a notch. It was first day of January, and Harry was sitting
besides the lake, watching the crisp air dance along the top of the water, rippling
and disturbing the surface.
A warm body settled next to him,
and without looking over he knew who it was. He was confused by their presence,
but then when a second body sat next to him on his left he turned to look them
in the eye. Draco Malfoy huffed at him, and stared
pointedly at him, daring him to question him.
Harry had a lot of patience but he
was not a patient person, and he was very, very stressed out, and couldn’t
handle the drama from them very much at the moment.
Standing he began to turn to leave
when Alaenn grabbed his wrist. Looking down into
those eyes, Harry felt his resolve to leave melt away.
“Please wait Harry, let me, us,
explain.” Alaenn asked quietly, looking completely
unsure of himself.
Harry didn’t understand it.
Teenagers and children were so complicated and full of drama today. All he
wanted to do was get everything over with, and he didn’t understand why all the
other children had to act so weirdly. Still, he felt he deserved an explanation
and so he sat, and he waited, and he told himself to be patient and
understanding.
“Harry, I’m sorry. Slytherins are
just the way they are. We use people and we abuse them and we drop them to pick
them back up. I am not going to apologize for that. I am going to apologize
though for the way I monopolized your kindness and used it against you.” Alaenn stated.
Harry realized his friend was a
true Slytherin, and that he had changed quite a lot.
Cocking his head to the side, Harry peered at his young friend. It was hard
when you didn’t fit in, but this wasn’t the way to go. Alaenn
was pretending to be just like Draco. Realizing then that Alaenn
had chosen between Harry and Draco, and Draco had won, made Harry angry. Very angry.
“Go away Alaenn,
and if you aren’t in the library tomorrow, you’ll be a very sorry little boy.
Your grades are slipping. I mean it, go.” Harry said coldy.
Wide eyed,
and hesitant Alaenn scampered off after Harry pressed
his magic on him.
Turning on Draco, Harry let his
anger go.
“You selfish,
selfish, son on a bitch.” Snarled Harry, hands tight
to avoid punching the smarmy, poncy git’s face in.
Draco merely sat there staring at
him, convinced that Harry’s self control was better than it was.
Pulling his fist back, Harry let it
connect fully with Draco’s cheek.
Draco toppled over backwards,
surprise etched fully on his face, and exemplified by his wide eyes. However
his surprised didn’t last very long and springing to his feet as soon as he
touched the ground, Draco snarled, touched his cheek gently, relaxed his tense
shoulders while straightening his clothes, and then launched himself in a full
out tackle towards Harry. Rolling around on the ground wrestling, and trying to
bash the others head in, they spit constant vitriol at the other.
“You spoiled princess. You made him
chose, was he even happy?” snarled Harry.
“You stupid bloody idiot Potter, if
he wasn’t with you he was very happy.” Snapped Draco, shoving
Harry’s head into the ground.
Wrapping his legs around Draco’s
middle and squeezing tightly, Harry pushed at Draco’s chest with his arms.
“Why the hell did you have to do
that? I don’t care about the stupid rumors and the stupid gay thing, why
couldn’t you have left it alone?” snarled Harry.
“Because I was worried you’d turn
him against me!” snapped Draco, shoving Harry fully down and pinning him with
his body.
Harry froze at that information.
Adding that to his already vast stores of information, he realized how it fit.
Draco had been worried that Harry would somehow turn Alaenn
against him in retribution, so he had gotten Alaenn
to desert Harry before Harry could do it to Draco.
He went limp, suddenly feeling bad
for the blonde.
“You’re stupid.” He said to the
blonde sprawled atop of him.
Draco stared down at Harry, a ready
retort on the tip of his tongue, but as he stared down at Harry he could see
the sadness, and the stress in his face. It was in the
way his eyes seemed more dull than bright, and the way his mouth turned down on
the edges a little more than normal. Something flipped in Draco’s stomach when
he realized he didn’t like seeing Harry like that.
Draco stared into Harry’s green
eyes for ages, so long that their anger melted away, and they lay there still
intertwined together but relaxed and at as at ease as the two could be together.
As he stared down at the
bespectacled green eyed boy, Draco realized just how beautiful he was. He had
plump pink lips, which were a little small, but were soft and inviting looking.
His cheeks were slightly pink from exertion, adding color to his small face.
His hair hung in wild array around his head, giving him an adorable just out of
bed look. It was his eyes that Draco became entranced with though.
They were not just green. They were
full of life, even with their visible sadness. They were full of information
and knowledge, and Draco wished he knew what they meant and how to learn what
they meant.
Leaning down even closer to peer
into them he realized just how close they were.
Harry was fascinated by the
openness of Draco’s eyes. They were bright, and questioning, and full of a
yearning, and Harry wanted badly to know more about them. He had admitted to
himself that he was crushing on the boy, quite badly. Not enough to embarrass
himself fully, but enough to be stunned by being so close to his face.
Harry realized that after Draco
moved closer, their lips were only a scants breath
away.
Draco lowered his head further, and
their lips touched just briefly, before he jerked back, eyes wide.
He froze unable to move, and Harry
reached up to touch his lips gently in surprise.
“Did you kiss me?” he asked softly
trying to avoid the others stare. Now, Harry realized he may sound knocked in
the head, but he wasn’t sure it wasn’t a figment on his imagination.
Draco’s eyes were wider than
saucers, and he himself touched his lips, and then he flushed a deep red.
“No, of course not, my arms gave
out in strength momentarily, and before I could catch myself I bumped your face
with my own.” Draco tried to cover up haughtily, but it was the flush on his
face that gave him away.
For a second Harry wanted to press
the topic, as he was pretty shocked, but he was distracted by the face that his
position was pretty provocative, and let Draco go of his tightly wrapped legs,
and Draco scrambled away.
For a second it was really awkward,
but then Harry remembered his earlier anger.
“You’re really a pompous ass Malfoy.” Spat Harry, angry once again, even if he
understood the blonde’s motives.
Said blonde looked as if he was
going to open his mouth and comment, but Harry was done being nice, and was
tired of his shite.
“Look Malfoy,
I like Alaenn, and I am pretty sure, I am still
important to him. You may have enough sway to convince him to stay away from
me, but you are being selfish, and an asshole. You aren’t the only person,
though you may want to believe it. When we put aside our differences for Alaenn, that means They. Are. Put. Aside. We can hate each
other as much as we want, but not while hes around.
Got it? Now, you can chose to come or not, but if I were you I would, to the
library for study group. Your own grades could do with a bit of a boost.” Harry
lectured, feeling like Hermione, but knowing he was in the right.
Turning and stalking away, still
angry with the stupid prat he had left behind, Harry
marched to the castle.
~*~
Sitting down in the cubicle next to
Harry, Alaenn looked at him warily. His pretty blue
eyes were wide, and cautious. Putting down his book Harry turned to address the
boy.
“Take out your books, and get to
work. I’m not mad at you silly. I’m not stupid, much to the surprise of many
people.” Harry said dryly.
Alaenn
smiled, and then launched into a long apology, and spiel about the awful,
boring month he had had with the stupid Slytherins. Hearing his young friend
unravel and confide in him, was worth all the time
Harry had lost. His friend was sincere, and very
detailed about Draco and that he felt bad because Draco was sad, and worried
that Alaenn would hate him, and he couldn’t let him
do that, and he hoped Harry would understand, and that he didn’t tell him the
very important things that Harry had told him. It was all said in such a
whirlwind that Harry had scarcely digested it all, when he launched into his
ramble on how much he had missed Harry, and that he was even sorrier that he
couldn’t come and talk to him, not even explain.
Harry smiled absently as his friend
slowly relaxed and then his speech wore off and began to lessen, and then
finally ended as he started to do his homework.
Going back to his book, but thinking
over what his young friend had said, Harry smiled slightly. Draco was lonely,
huh? He couldn’t be mad at the young boy; he had too much affection for him. It
was weird the extent that he wanted to go to make this young boy happy, but
Harry was okay with it.
The soft sound of robes swishing
was the only noise Draco made as he slid into the cubicle. Both Harry and Alaenn looked up, Harry went back to his book, while Alaenn chastised Draco, and then began to rattle on to him
too. Harry almost laughed at the shamed face Draco was wearing, but refrained
in honor of the strained peace. He knew Draco had other things up his sleeve,
and wasn’t afraid to try.
~*~
A few minutes later Harry felt the
gentle pressure of a bubble and privacy charm settle over him. Glancing at
Draco revealed a very solemn face.
“Look, Harry, I know I’m an asshole
sometimes. But, I was thinking it over and. You are right. I apologize for what
I did. I wont let my personal problems get in the way
of our tentative friendship?” Draco apologized, the very end being a question.
Now, Harry didn’t trust the boy, having learned the hard way that it wasn’t
always wise to. But, he seemed fairly sincere, so Harry nodded his head.
Draco relaxed and smiled slightly,
and leaning forwards, eyes sincere he said. “The gay thing…I didn’t actually do
that.” He confessed it almost as an after thought but Harry could see that he
wanted badly for Harry to believe him.
Harry’s eyebrows raised
slightly.
“Oh?” he asked, slightly dubious of
the blonde snake. Although Draco did appear to be sincere, and his apology had
been told with all honesty, as Harry had checked his magic.
Checking Draco’s magic again
revealed the whiteness of complete honesty, and Harry had to admit to being
rather floored.
“I might be a slimy git to you sometimes, but I don’t attack fellow gays, its kind of like slapping myself in the face. I know it
seems as if I did it, but I truly did not.” He explained to Harry.
Now knowing he was telling the
truth, Harry leaned forward and squeezed his forearm.
“I believe you.” He said, then flushed.
“Sorry bout the punch yesterday, I
was a mite bit pissed.” Apologized Harry, thoroughly
embarrassed now.
Laughing, surprisingly, Draco just
brushed it off, and turned to point out a mistake Alaenn
had made in his paper. Harry turned to look at the smaller boy, and for a
second froze as their eyes caught. Shaking his head off, sure that he was
seeing things, Harry turned back to his book, trying to get rid of the image of
the red eyes that had stared at him from Alaenn’s
sweet face.

It was the middle of January, and
the study sessions had been going well. All the past problems were patched up.
Surprisingly, Draco had been serious about forging a friendship, and had been
trying, although often times unsuccessfully, to be less of a prat and more patient.
Harry was stressing about that night though. His alliance had told him he would
be back that night to further discuss their plans. Harry was worried because he
hadn’t gotten to draw up a direct solution, and wasn’t sure how well that would
go down with them. It wasn’t his fault; it was his lack of information. The books he found weren’t very helpful, and
the ones that were, were helpful to a limit. He needed to get a way to get that
information.
Clearing his thoughts he cast a
quick tempus. It was eleven already at night, and Harry quickly crept out of
bed, already ready to go, and cast a quick spell on his bed to appear as if he
were still in it. After making sure no one noticed his departure, he crept out
of his room, and out of the common room, heading towards the Room of
Requirement.
He had given Alaenn
and Draco some flimsy excuse, and skipped study session because he had been so
worried about that night. Surprisingly both of them had acted glum and shocked
at his skipping. Alaenn and apparently Draco now,
knew how much he liked his study sessions. Harry didn’t have the nerves though
to sit around his friends and pretend to be okay. Instead, he had kept busy,
until ten when he went to lay on his bed to pretend
sleep.
Ron and the Twins and had been a
steady distraction, their soft conversation from Ron’s bed was hilarious and at
times awkward, but Harry had smiled every time Ron would laugh. Finally though,
Ron fell asleep, followed quickly by the twins.
Harry walked past the wall until
the door appeared. Hesitating only briefly, Harry opened the door.

A/n= I wrote this last night, the
end, and I was so exhausted that I didn’t update because I was worried it had
too many mistakes. Hah! It wasn’t mistakes that was
weird, it was where my story had gone. O.o Weird beyond all weirdness. Anyway, I’m sorry this is late.
I don’t have a lot of time to fix all the mistakes, and all the confusing
spots. I’d appreciate it if people told me if it was too confusing. I have a
bad habit of staying too broad, because I used to be too detailed that my
stories never got anywhere. Anyway, I’d love to know what you all thought.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully this wasn’t the worst update ever. XD
