Hermione sighed. Closing her eyes, she apparated, picturing the street she imagined her parents living on. It was dusk here, due to the time difference. Taking a deep breath, Hermione began to move about, taking in her surroundings.
She felt.. different. She hadn't really used her abilities until now, and they were definitely a big help. She could see on for ages, despite the creeping darkness coming on. That is definitely going to come in handy, she thought to herself. The air held a sweet smell to it, it was pleasant. She looked around before she heard her parents voices. She silently crept up to their house so she could peek in.
Yes, she knew it was incredibly creepy. Yes, she knew she could possibly get caught. And yes, she knew it was hurt her to see them, but she'd rather hurt with the pain she knew they were happier without her then deal with the pain of not knowing.
Taking a deep breath, she peered in the window. The sight nearly broke her heart, but she knew she had done the right thing with erasing her parents memory.
Her parents were sitting on the couch, watching television. Her mother's hand rested on her stomach, her very large stomach. Her father was happy, happier than Hermione had ever seen him. Her mother was basking in the glow of pregnancy. She had done the right thing. Her parents were safe and happy now. She couldn't ruin that, she wouldn't. She observed them for awhile longer, before she decided she needed to get away. Her emotions were going haywire.
She walked away from the house, walking away from the life she once had. It's true then, nothing else will ever be the same.
Hermione began walking randomly through the streets. She couldn't think yet, she wasn't sure how she should feel. She felt betrayed, her parents had replaced her with another child. But not really, she argued to herself. Her parents didn't know she existed..
Hermione felt another wave of anger wash through her. Snape left her alone. If he was here.. she could have been controlling herself better. But he was nowhere to be found, and she was going out of control. She punched the wall of the alleyway, causing her knuckles on her hand to scrape. She didn't bleed, but it did hurt. Growling, she turned, continuing on her way down the alley. She was furious. She wanted to hurt someone, despite the little voice in the back of her head begging her to stop.
She froze, smelling the sweetness of warm, pulsing blood. Immediately, Hermione let the monster inside her go. She smiled, fulling feeling her strength inside her. "Let the girl die, and let the monster rise." she muttered to herself. She followed the scent and came upon two young men in an alley. They looked like they were probably 19 or 20. Hermione licked her lips, anticipating the delicious flavor of their blood washing down her dry throat.
She moved with inhuman speed onto the first boy, and immediately tore the flesh off his neck with her razor sharp teeth. The blood began to gush, covering the both of them. Hermione began to suck and lick everywhere, not being able to get enough. After a minute or two, the boy stopped writhing beneath her. She could no longer hear the faint beating of his heart. Satisfied, she stood.
Taking a deep breath, she took off in the direction the second boy ran off too. She overtook him in a few seconds, lunging at him. She drained the body quickly, unable to quench her hunger. Hermione apparated, not focusing on where she was going. She just let herself go, unconsciously knowing where she wanted to be.
She apparated in front of a house. Unsure of where she was, she took a look around. She tried to move, but found she was frozen to the spot on the porch she was currently in. She tried moving, but couldn't. The door was wretched open and Snape appeared behind it, lookng absolutely livid.
Hermione bared her teeth at him, growling. She did not want to see him, or be anywhere near him. She didn't even want to think about him. Snape didn't say anything, just grabbed her arm and threw her into the house. She was still in predetory mode. "Miss Granger, explain yourself." Snape said, sneering at her.
She didn't answer, she continued to glare at him. In the next few moments, Snape seem to come across the realization that Hermione was covered in blood.
"Are you bleeding?" He asked, almost afraid of the answer.
"No. It's not mine." Came her reply.
Snape didn't say anything, but looked around the room. He couldn't look her in the eye, not after knowing what she had just done. He's killed people too, but because he was forced to. Hermione, she killed someone, because he wasn't there to help her. You are such an idiot Severus Snape. Dumbledore told you to watch her, not send her on her own for the entire summer. This is all your fault. He heard Hermione growl again and turned to look at her, finally meeting her eyes.
They were filled with anger, directled at him surely, and slowly, the anger began to die down. Confusion, and hurt flickered across her face. He couldn't look away. Her red eyes seemed to see down into the depths of his dark deep soul.
"I killed people." She whispered, the horror she felt making intself evident. Snape snapped out of the stance he was in. "More than one?" He whispered back, not being able to trust his voice.
Hermione dropped to her knees, her body shaking. "Two boys, my age. I.. I..." She broke down. Severus Snape, unsure of what else to do, dropped to his knees as well. He pulled her close to him, trying to comfort her.
"It's all your fault, you know." She whispered, her emotions evident.
It stung, but Severus knew he deserved it. He stayed quiet, knowing she was going to continue blaming him. And he knew he deserved it. It was his fault, there was no denying it.
"You left me, alone... I.. lost control of my emotions, and I.. let the monster take over.." Severus held her tighter, not trusting his voice.
"Why?" she continued. "Why couldn't you protect me?" Hermione clutched onto him like he was her lifeline. He was too stunned to be able to say anything. "Severus." She breathed. "Please say something."
The sound of her lips saying his name, it left him breathless. He needed to answer her.. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Hermione pulled away looking up into the eyes of a man who she has always hated. He seemed, different.
"Hermione," they locked eyes, "I will never let you hurt again. I swear on my life." And she believed him. The look in his eyes, they burned with resolve.
Hermione closed the distance between them and pressed her lips unto his. She had no idea what possessed him to do it, but she was kissing him. After a moment, he began to kiss her back. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced before.
He abruptly pulled away though, his cheeks red. Hermione stared at him, waiting for him to say anything.
"You can sleep in my bed tonight, I'll grab you some clothes." Severus stood up and went to leave.
"But where are you going to stay?" she asked, hoping he'd say with her.
"On the couch."
"Oh. Well, I'll stay on the couch."
"Hermione, that's not necessary."
"Yes, it is. I don't sleep, so, well, I don't want you to be in any discomfort for nothing."
Severus looked at her. "Very well then. I'll see you in the morning."
He turned and left Hermione alone in the sitting room. She sat down and started thinking about what had just happened. She willingly kissed Severus Snape, and she loved it. She shook her head, trying to sort out all the thoughts running through her head. She knew Snape was a good man deep down, and he truly was Dumbledore's man through and through. She wondered how he was still alive, she saw Nagini poison him. She saw the life leave his eyes. She'd have to ask him someday how he survived.
Closing her eyes, she'd figure she'd try and meditate. Maybe that would help to pass the time.
