The walk down the stairs wasn’t supposed to be nerve wracking but it was, what was it that Lily wanted? And what the hell were they supposed to do with Severus if she wanted what he was sure she wanted?

“Remus?” Severus tapped his shoulder “Where is she?”

“It’s only one fifty” He reminded him. He turned to smile at him but the image of the boy standing in front of the window, bathed in lightening all creamy looking in a black tank top and black sleeper pants with his hair messed up and Remus felt his own pants get tighter “Merlin” He whispered.

“What?” Severus looked down and then all around him on the walls and floor.

While he was preoccupied Remus made his way over and was standing in front of him when he looked forward again. He gasped lightly at the nearness. Remus slowly raised his hands to the other boys skinny hips and pulled him slowly closer, his eyes constantly requesting his permission until their lips finally meant. Severus put his hands on top the Gryffindor’s shoulders and pulled him even closer, opening his mouth when Remus’s tongue came out to play.

“Starting without me?” A female voice whispered from their left making them turn to Lily’s smiling face “I owe Remus nothing less than a hand job” She said matter-of-factly.

“What about Severus?” Remus asked.

The only sounds for a while were heavy breathing and the sounds of kissing. Lily alternated between kissing Remus and Severus, touching them, rubbing them, and finally she found herself on her knees between Remus’s legs as he was now sitting on the couch. They both heard a couple thuds on the stairs but didn’t pay it any mind, with their goodnights said shyly they went in their opposite directions to go back to bed, Remus thought about lighting his wand when he entered the dark boys dorm room but didn’t want anyone waking up. Instead, he made his way to his bed leaned over to see if Severus was still asleep and after realizing he was gave him three quick kisses on the cheek and laid down next to him to fall asleep. He didn’t notice that Severus reopened his eyes after he laid down nor did he notice that one pair of hazel eyes were watching him filled with confusion, hurt, anger and betrayal and he never noticed that a pair of grey eyes had watched him with horror and revulsion. No Remus was too spent to notice these things, too spent and too happy…at least for now.

“Albus” Minerva McGonagall said as she walked in to her lovers private study “The fat lady just told me that a Slytherin is staying in the Gryffindor common room”

“Ah yes” He smiled “Severus Snape is, I gave him permission today”

“So everything is working according to plan, then?” She asked.

“Swimmingly” Was his answer “Remus Lupin is finally understanding that he can love even with his affliction and Severus Snape is understanding that he is loveable”

“So this “monster” business can be done with soon?” She asked making air quotations around the word monster.

“Minnie” He fixed her with a serious gaze “You know as well as I do that there is something out there and that it really can attack. Look at poor Horace, I am not making that up. However, the Slytherins really didn’t care either way weather Snape was in the common room or not, that part I had to fudge a little”

“Just how did you manage that?” She asked, smiling.

“Easily” He answered “House points and Friday off”

“Nice bargaining chip” She rolled her eyes “The monster is real I will admit but what happens when it is gone?”

“I don’t know” He admitted “Maybe nothing but maybe something. I have to say that this monster business really did come at the opportune time to get two enemies to fall in love”

“Almost too opportune” Minerva smirked at him, his eyes were twinkling madly behind his glasses.

~~~Next Morning~~~

Remus stretched his arms out and was surprised when they were meant with only a cold mattress. He sat up and looked around it must be a bit later than expected because no one was in there with him, he was sure that James and Sirius would have made him come down to watch their Quidditch practice or at least Severus would have waited for him but there was no one. He stood and stumbled his way over to James’s bed pulling out the map he consulted it (to make sure that Sirius and James didn’t skive off Quidditch to do something horrible to Severus) but their dots were moving very quickly around the pitch and Severus’s was on the Astronomy tower. After using the loo and taking a shower he looked at the clock (12:15pm) and then made a beeline for Severus on the tower, deciding that he would need the protection more than James or Sirius would.

“Sev” He greeted when he was behind him.

“Go away” Severus muttered.

“What?” Remus walked up behind him and attempted to touch his hips but the minute he came in to contact with him Severus walked away to the other side “Severus what’s wrong?”

“Nothing” The boy lied “Just go away, please”

“No” Remus snapped, starting to get angry “I will not go away. Tell me what the bloody hell is wrong!”

“THIS!” Severus yelled turning to look at the werewolf “US…I-I don’t know what is going on but I want it to stop!” His bottom lip was quivering.

“I thought…that…” Remus started.

“What?” Severus asked there was venom in his voice like never before “You thought that we would date?”

“Well…” Remus nodded.

“HA!” Severus laughed “Then you are dumber than I thought”

“Severus…” Remus felt his heart breaking.

“You thought I’d want to be with you” He spat “A-A…”

‘Oh god…please…don’t say it’ Remus thought.

“A disgusting…werewolf!” Severus glared at him then laughed again with an ugly mirth. But there was sadness and self-hatred there, he was breaking his own heart but he had to…he didn’t understand what happened last night and all those confusing feelings that tore through him.

“You don’t mean that” Remus whispered with tears in his eyes “Severus…you don’t mean that…I know you don’t” He reached for him but Snape moved back disgusted and glared at him.

“Don’t. Touch. Me” He snapped. That was it Remus turned and fled to the safety of his dorm and his friends because they would be there by now and they would never turn their backs on him, right?

~~~Severus~~~

The minute the door leading back inside the castle shut he dropped to his knees and started to weep. That was the most horrible thing he ever had to do and he knew that knife would remain in his heart forever the look on his face would haunt his dreams until he died. But it was better than those feelings from last night anything had to be better than those feelings.

He and Remus had been with Lily last night, his dream was coming true…that was until she turned her attention to Remus alone. He originally felt angry that she wanted the Gryffindor more than him but then he realized that he was angry because Remus wanted her, he had completely forgotten he was there stopped kissing him and touching him, he was nothing more than furniture. He left about then but he felt empty, angry, hurt, betrayed and so many emotions that were alien to him.

All he ever wanted to do was to hold Remus, kiss him, touch him and be touched by him and all Remus wanted was Lily. Just like with everyone else, Severus just wasn’t good enough, oh sure he’d do in a pinch when you’re hard and have no one else but not a relationship. He felt used and dirty and all around stupid for believing that someone wanted to be with him instead of just taking what they wanted and tossing him aside like a used cloak. Suddenly, there was a cold feeling that (though outside) seemed unnatural and unearthly and it seeped through his robes and in to his very bones. Turning , Severus found nothing but all of a sudden he got very weak, his muscles shook as they tried to hold him up, and it felt like his very core…his magical core was being drained away.

“Remus…” He called weakly “…Help” Then everything went black.

A/N: Hope you like this. I wasn’t sure if I should have them fight but I wanted no NEEDED something to push them around a little. James and Sirius know his secret and Remus is going to start feeling a little alone soon….and what the hell is happening to Severus…remember there IS a monster!
