A/N: Okay readers at this point the major characters are going to get chapters of their own. I've decided to do this because I don't want to jump from scene to scene. I feel this way would fit better and make it flow better as well. This one is about Andrew! Read on! Enjoy! :D
Chapter 4: More To ComeWeakness. He doesn't know weakness. He takes it and turns into strength and power. Weakness is not how he was built. It's not in his mind all that matters is power and strength and getting stronger every day. Weakness he laughs at it and uses it into something more. Sunnydale CA,"Angel wake up, we gotta get going," Andrew walked out of vampire's room and started to load up on some weapons for their patrol tonight. He made sure he had a few wooden stakes, a couple of daggers, and then his favorite sword. He whirled it around and smiled. It still felt natural in his hand. He put it in his sheath and walked over to the map, finding the location that Buffy asked them to check out. He smiled at the thought of Buffy. They started dating not to long ago, of course it took them a couple of months to get to know each other and then he just kissed her. He couldn't help it she just looked beautiful. But something was still missing he wasn't sure what it was but he hoped that one day he would tell her about his past.
Angel stumbled out of the hallway still wiping sleep from his eyes and took the coffee cup that was on the counter and took a sip. He sighed as the warm blood hit his throat. He looked at his roommate and couldn't help but smile at how they got there now. Andrew was just a kid walking around with his duffel bag when two vampires attacked him. Angel was about to go help him but in a blink of an eye the vampires were dust. He came up to the younger man and they hit it off. Now they live in a two bedroom apartment that would sometimes be used for a safe house. They had that happen a few times if some one in the crew didn't want to be home by themselves. "So were are we going tonight?" He asked putting on his shoes.
"Well Buffy said something about an area around the college campus. We could start there," he put on his leather jacket just as Angel was and they headed out the door.
"School's almost over you ready for some vacation time?" Angel asked. Andrew just shrugged, "I think so. I mean more time spending on patrolling and I don't have to worry about college just yet. I'm not actually sure if I want to go to be honest."
"What about Buffy? Does she want to go to college?"
"We haven't really talked about it. I don't think she wants to either. We take our S.A.T.s soon but I don't think I'll show up."
"Hopefully The First would be destroyed by then," Angel chuckled and patted him on the back.
"Yeah hopefully they'll find something tonight."
*******
"I think I've read this book already," Buffy said as she rubbed her eyes. They've been at it for hours and they still couldn't find anything on The First. All they knew was that it was the first evil but they couldn't find a location. She knows she should be out there trying to find it, but Andrew and Angel said that they would cover tonight. She smiled at the thought of Andrew, it didn't take long for her to have feelings for him. They've been dating for a few months and she knows she can have a future with him and that made her smile even more.
She looked at the clock and it was getting close to two in the morning and then turned her gaze to the phone. They haven't called to check in yet. Normally they would by now either telling her that they found something or it was a slow night. Willow smiled at her friend and knew what she was thinking, "I'm sure they're okay. They're tough guys." Buffy gave her best friend a small smile and nodded.
"In the mean time I have a box of delicious donuts and a bunch of coffee for all of us," Xander said as he walked over to the table. Everyone thanked him and they each took a cup of coffee and a donut. They went back to looking through some more books with each one leading them some what closer to their answers. But it would be shortly lived when the rest of the pages would just end after a paragraph or two. They were about to call it a night when the library doors sprang open. Everyone's head turned when they saw a beat up Angel carrying a badly beaten Andrew. Without any words being said Xander and Oz rushed over to them and helped Angel while Giles, Buffy, and Willow cleared off the table.
They gently laid him on the table and he was in horrible shape. He had two deep gashes on his chest, one on his back, his left arm was broke, as well as his right leg, his right eye was swollen shut, his right shoulder was dislocated, he had cuts on his face and he was barely breathing. Xander helped Angel sit down as Giles and Willow were trying to get Andrew's dirty and bloody shirt off to see if they could do anything.
"What happened?" Buffy fully looked at Angel and he just had some minor cuts and brushes nothing as major as Andrew. Oz brought him a small cup of tea and he gratefully took it. He sighed as he took a sip then tried to catch his breath. He finally looked at them, "We were fighting off a couple of vampires and then some one came from behind me and knocked me out. The next thing I know I see this demon and he was nothing like I've ever seen before. He had Andrew by the throat and lifting him off the ground. It was like he was on fire or something but he wasn't burning Andrew. His eyes were just black and I felt fear and it was nothing I ever felt before. He bit Andrew's shoulder and then did something but I couldn't see what he did. The next thing I know he throws him like he was just a rag doll. I got up to try and fight him but he grabbed me the same way. He looked at me and I just wanted to get out of his grasp, no matter how hard I tried I could get out. He lifted me up and told me that when Andrew wakes there will be more to come. After that he threw me just like Andrew and I was knocked out again. When I came to he was gone and I knew I had to get him out."
Everyone looked at Angel with fear written on their faces. He looked at Andrew and just felt guilt run through him, he should've protected him, he should've came to much sooner. If he did then his friend wouldn't be like this. Giles and Willow were doing everything they could to try and help Andrew but nothing was helping. Finally, it was decided to get him to the hospital. It would be the only way for him to be able to get the help he needed.
They put the thoughts of The First in the back of their minds because right now their friend needed them and the couldn't let him down. They reached the hospital in record time and rushed him in. When a few nurses came up to them and asked what happened they just told them he was attacked by something. They couldn't very well tell them it was a demon because that would be crazy. A doctor came up to them and started to do a quick look over him and said that they needed to get him to the surgery now.
The crew watched as they wheeled Andrew away on a hospital bed. Angel put his arm around Buffy as she let the tears flow down her face. They all moved over to the chairs in the waiting room. No one spoke they just had blank looks on their faces. Giles and Oz left to get them something to drink and Willow was comforting Buffy when Angel left her side since the sun was about to come up. They just sat there waiting for some one to come out to let them know if he was going to be okay.
*********All he could see was darkness, he didn't know where he was. He was calling out straining his ears to hear if anyone would respond back. But there was nothing just silence. The last thing he remembered was fighting a demon and then being thrown, after that just blackness. He didn't know what else to do but just walk, "This has got to be a bad dream," He said out loud as if anyone could hear him. He kept walking and out of the corner of his eye he saw a small glimpse of light. He turned and slowly walking to it, "Hello?" He called out but no response. He put his guard up just in case he had to fight. He felt for his sword and started to feel a small panic when he didn't feel it. He checked for his daggers again, nothing. He took a deep breath and walked towards the light that kept getting brighter as he got closer.
He put up his hand to shield the bright light out of his eyes. When it wasn't as bright anymore he looked around and recognized the room. It was the room in the castle he spent his childhood in. He saw two boys couldn't be more than about twelve or thirteen, and there was Snape teaching them about potions. He walked closer and smiled. Oh how he missed his brother and mentor, he wished he could go back.
The room disappeared and now he was fourteen meeting Voldemort for the first time. He and JB waited until the Dark Lord was before them and he shook their hands. He told Rob that he had two of the brightest men at such a young age and that their parents would be proud.
He was now on the grounds with JB and Voldemort. Voldemort telling the story of how he got revenge on those that killed their parents. That day Andrew vowed to get Harry Potter.
He was on his first date with Buffy at a small restaurant. She looked beautiful in her simple black strapless dress, her hair up with curls framing her face and black heels to match. He took hold of her hand and kissed the back of it. She blushed and then he leaned across the table and kissed her for the first time.
He was fighting the demon and he was loosing he knew that. But he wasn't going to give up, he gave everything he had. The demon had him by the throat, "You can't beat me Andrew." He said then bit his shoulder, he screamed in pain punching him where ever he could reach. His fist met the demon's cheek cutting it open. It just made the demon bite harder. "Try to find me," he whispered and then threw Andrew.
This time he was in Diagon Alley, but he wasn't watching this time. The girl was in front of him, chocolate brown eyes staring into his sea green ones. He touched her cheek, he needed to be closer to her. He wanted no, he needed to know who this girl was. Instead of telling her to get out of here she touched his cheek and smiled. They were just inches apart, he needed her to be closer, "Open your eyes," she whispered. He pulled back from her, his eye brows knitted together, "What?" he asked as if he didn't hear her. She leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "Open your eyes," she whispered again, then kissed his cheek and before he could ask what she meant she was gone.
It was dark again, he looked around to try and see if he could see anything. There was nothing he again started to walk in a straight line. That girl in Diagon Alley the one he told to leave told him to open his eyes. He didn't know what she meant by that, how could he open his eyes when there was nothing to see. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed. He wasn't going to stop walking in the darkness, not until he could figure out where he was. "Open your eyes," he heard again and tried to find the source of the voice. "Open your eyes," again the voice. He closed his eyes and focused if he heard it again. He relaxed and waited, if he could just clear his mind he would be able to pinpoint the direction the voice was coming from.
"Open your eyes," his eyes snapped open and he began to run in the direction of the voice. It was getting louder and louder and he began to hear different voices. The closer he was the louder the voices got; he was close to something and he wasn't going to stop now. He saw another light and he ran towards it this time not shielding his eyes.
Beep, beep, beep, beep, he slowly opened his eyes and his body was screaming in pain. He looked around and saw white walls the same color as the ceiling. He felt a soft breeze and noticed the window was opened. He tried to speak but his throat burned, so instead of saying something a groan escaped from his lips.
"Andrew?" He heard that familiar voice and saw those deep brown eyes he had grown accustomed to over the months. He tried to say something and she lightly put her finger against his lips, "Save your strength I'm going to get the doctor." She left the room leaving him in almost a panic. What happened? How long was he knocked out for? Did they find the demon? The thoughts kept running through his head, and he just wanted some one to answer them.
Buffy came back and quickly went to his side. He tried to turn his head but his body objected. He closed his eyes tight in pain and Buffy noticed. "Water" he managed to get out. She grabbed a small cup and poured some water into from the pitcher. She gently helped him up and let him sip on water.
He closed his eyes as he felt the cold smooth liquid hit his lips then went down his throat. It was like heaven and when he finished he sighed as if it was the first time he had water. He looked up at Buffy and smiled, "All better?" He closed his eyes and slightly nodded. A young doctor with brown hair came into the room with a smile. "Well look who's awake. We almost thought you wouldn't but, your friends wouldn't give up on you." He as looking at some papers on the clipboard as a nurse came in and started to check his vitals.
"What happened?" Andrew asked looking at the doctor. Willow, Oz Xander, and Giles came in with smiles on their faces. The doctor looked at Buffy then at him, "Well," he started trying to find the words, "You were pretty beaten up when they brought you in. You're going to have three big scars two on your chest one on your back. Your dislocated shoulder was put back in place, and everything else will heal in time."
Andrew knew there was something the doctor wasn't telling him, "Don't hold anything back. What else?" His eyes never leaving the doctor again he looked around the room and then back at him. "You've been in a coma for four months," the doctor waited for a reaction but all he saw was Andrew blink a few times. He looked down at the chart again, "We want to keep you a little longer. I'll come back later," and with that the doctor left.
"Four months...." Andrew whispered. It only felt like days, how was it he was asleep for four months? What happened in those four months? He had missed his summer vacation, the SATs, patrolling, and the The First. Buffy saw his eyes and knew what he was thinking, "Hey it's okay, we've been working on finding this demon of yours," Buffy whispered and kissed his forehead. One by one they all came up to him telling him that they were glad that he was awake. He put on a smile, but his thoughts were back to how he was asleep for four months. He missed out on a lot of things and he tried to keep his calm.
He didn't know what to say or do his body was still screaming and he didn't want to let anyone know. He kept the pain to himself and as he listened to his friends one by one tell him what they've been up to the last four months.
************
A week later Andrew was finally able to leave the hospital. They decided he would leave at night because he wanted to be able to have Angel there. His bones are healing nicely and he couldn't wait to start training again. He had to get his muscles back up and retrain his senses again. He needed to contact his brother some how to let him know he was alright. Angel brought his car around as Giles wheeled out Andrew in a wheelchair. They were having a small party for him at the apartment and he couldn't wait.
During the four months the crew found out where The First was hiding and destroyed the nest. Things were quiet after that then, slowly began to pick up again. They were still trying to find the demon. The only thing they were able to come up with was that his name was Damien and he was a very powerful one. They don't know how he came to Sunnydale or how he knew Andrew. Another subject with more questions than answers. Andrew needed to get his strength back up so he could destroy this demon before he had another chance to kill him.
*****
Angel was cleaning up after the party and Andrew was on the balcony looking at the stars. The older man took notice and came out to his friend, "You had us one the ropes for a while."
Andrew looked up from his wheelchair and then back at the stars. Four of them shinning brighter than the others. "I saw my memories. My past, Buffy, Damien, and this girl." Angel's ears perked up.
"Girl?" Giving him a smiling. Andrew chuckled and shook his head, "I only saw her once but she was in my memories and I don't know why. She told me to open my eyes. Then I was in darkness again but I kept hearing her voice and I just followed it and next thing I know I'm waking up four months later."
"How does a complete stranger you've only seen once help you wake up?" Andrew just shook his head just as and owl came and landed on the railing. He saw that there was a letter addressed to him. Angel looked confused, "Why is that owl carrying a letter?"
Andrew took the letter and sighed. He put in his lap and wheeled himself inside. He took a small cracker from one of the food trays and gave to the owl and then it went back to the railing. He looked up at Angel who followed him inside with his arms crossed over his chest waiting for an explanation. "You might want to sit down," he told his friend and he sat down on a chair across from Andrew still waiting. He closed his eyes and sighed hoping that what he was about to tell Angel wouldn't upset him.
************He sat there with a blank expression about what he just heard. He wasn't sure what to say or think, this was out of the blue. He's mind was in a whirlwind trying to understand what his friend had just told him. Andrew knew of his past but now to hear his was a completely different story. It was like a whole another world just opened up in front of his eyes. He was trying to find the words to say, but he just couldn't find them. "I'll be in my room," Andrew said sadly as he started to wheel himself out of their living room. The owl was now on his shoulder and he knew that it was waiting for a reply. At this point Angel stood up and grabbed his jacket, he needed some air to try to understand what he was just told.
Andrew sighed as he came into his room and went to his desk and opened the letter. It was from some one he never met before and it was a little confusing. He could tell the letter was written a couple of months ago. Why would a stranger write him? It explained that they were a student in their sixth year and that people are looking for him. The letter also explained that the owl would wait for a response for as long as it takes. There was no rush just yet, but they hoped that he was safe and well. Then it was signed H.G. That was it just the initials, no first name or last name. He sat back and wondered how to answer a letter from someone he never met. One red flag was when it said that people were looking for him. He wasn't sure what that meant. He looked at the owl and smiled, "Well hope you like Sunnydale, because you'll be here for a while." He said and the owl just hooted softly.
A change was coming and it was coming fast. The world wouldn't be ready for it. Nothing could stop it and nothing would get in the way. A pawn has moved and now it was time for the next move.A/N: Okay that's what Andrew is up to! Next chapter we'll see how JB is coping without his brother.
