Author's note: This story should be pretty straight forward, I do not intend for it to be overly long. This will contain HP/DM, HP/BZ, there will be homosexual sex implied and graphic (I hope), male pregnancy and deceptions. This story follows the Harry Potter series and begins the last week of August 2005. Yes I know I take forever to post... sorry!
Warnings: Sorry for the cliffhanger! Sorry! Don't kill me!
Summary: Dealing with the death of his first lover, an overbearing second one and a pregnancy that is not what it seems might have been more than Harry had planed and wanted for his life after the war.

Chapter Four

Surgeries

Previous Chapter:

Before the twins were born there were no way to prove they were Draco's. There were no genetic testing done while still in gestation in the magical world. He would be given back to the Italian if the blond was not there to claim the children as his. If both men fought he would be kept in St-Mungo until the birth. A prospect he was not looking to as the Man-Who-Lived-Twice. Here he was anonymous. The only one that knew his name was doctor Hughes, even the nurses were left out of the loop. While they were far from being stupid and knew he was presenting a fake name and was under glamour, but they didn't knew the truth. They couldn't fawn all over him and ask for his autograph or leek anything to the press. But Blaise could. And he would if he thought it could get him Harry back.

On with the story:

Being on bed rest had done no good and waiting more would put the babies and himself at risk. The new tests were showing a drop in his own magical core and the augmentation of the heart failure of his biggest child. Between the surgery due for the next day, two weeks after the escape, and the still present fear of having Blaise find him he found sleep was a thing of the past.

His mind kept going over the fact that everything would have to be done the muggle way because more personal was needed than the available magical staff he had met so far. That meant an intravenous catheter and an epidural. If he had been scared of the little needle for the blood takes every morning it was nothing compared the the white flash of anxiety that always followed the thought of the length and size of the one that would be inserted in his back. And that was overshadowed by the endoscope, which was basically a huge needle, that would pierce his stomach to allow the laser procedure. Even the potions he had agreed to take were not up to par with how terrified he was. Exhaustion and restlessness were at war and nothing he did helped him sleep.

Oliver who was as keen to help as he was overly vivacious and sometime vulgar had accepted to stay the night with him. Holding his hand here than there and going at length with the hectic life his own kids had blessed him with. He told him how his oldest daughter had once thrown the cat out of a four story window to see if cats really always fell on their paws. They had both learned that day that no, they did not. The poor beast had been taken to a magical vet and had been set right but was now forever scared of the little girl. How his youngest liked to paint the wall with excrement if him mother was not up early enough to keep him entertained. How all three of his girls liked to bully him into accepting to play tea and have his nails done. That night they were an atrocious yellow on one hand and bright pink on the other.

The hours seemed to slowly melt away with the man beside him. The stories were funny and always bright and cheerful even if sometime they started sad. It was more difficult to ignore his roaring stomach and his thirst than it was to try and avoid thinking about everything else. He was used now to having a meal or a big snack every two or so hours, even at night if he was awake now.

At seven thirty sharp the next morning he was dressed in a yellow gown with gloves and rolled out of his room. While he had thought it funny that people assumed he had a multi resistant bacteria somewhere inside him, it was a bit less interesting to be the one who had to be dressed to leave the room. The gloves felt itchy on his sweaty hands.

Oliver followed him to the surgery ward where they were forced to wait. He told him he would go home and bring him the mother of breakfast the next day for his courage. Somehow he was sure it was true. Everyday breakfast got more intriguing and bigger, more complex with animals made of cut up fruits and design drawn into pancakes.

There he was hooked up to the intravenous perfusion and he felt faint. When the strange doctor who specialized in anaesthesia came by and explained to him the procedure for the insertion of the epidural he nearly lost it. He had not seen or felt anything yet and he was ready for it to be over and done with. He was coddled into position, siting on the side of the stretcher his back curved foward over his belly, something far easier said than done with the size of his stomach. His night nurse was hugging him to a chest that once had been defined but was getting softer with time.

It took all his concentration not to jump and to keep holding his breath while the procedure was being done. He was willing to allow them one try not thirteen and he would not be the one to mess it up. The doctor explained to him each of the step and told him when the metal applicator was taken out to leave the thin plastic tube in where the anaesthetic would be injected. He explained how he was going to apply a big transparent sellotape like bandage over his back to hold it all in place. Once done Oliver gave him a last hug, helped him to lay back down and left with a last wave.

A new nurse came and without a smile or an explanation rolled him out of the ward and into the surgery room where doctor Hughes was already waiting for him. His gloves and yellow gown were taken from him and the he was positioned on a new uncomfortable table. He saw the staff gear up for the surgery and blue linens kept him from being able to look at his stomach from there on out. To keep him from panicking he was told. He was thankful for it.

He was warned when the anaesthetic was injected in him threw the epidural but he could not say if it was true or not. He was asked periodically if he felt anything bellow his ribs and when he had said no for the third time he was told the procedure would begin.

They explained why the iodine solution rubbed over his expanding belly, not that he could feel it. When the small incision made on his skin and how he would have that little scar to remind him of what he went threw for his children forever. It went on and on to the insertion of the endoscope.

“I am now looking for the blood vessels that are joining your twins together now. It's those, as I explained the other day that allow the smaller child to feed his blood to the bigger one. When I tell you to I want you to hold your breath so that I can send a small laser to block the flow. It is important that you hold it until I tell you otherwise. I do not want to hurt you or one of them. Very well Miss Green hold your breath, hold, hold, hold, release now.”

The next two hours went on and on of him having to hold his breath for small to longer periods of time. He was told that the more vessels they block the less they could see and that they were trying to coagulate as many as they could. But apparently there were quite a few of them.

When everything was said and done he was still ordered to keep to bed rest and that they would reevaluated him every twelve hours like they had done in the past.

Twelve hours later, while the hydrops had not gone away, probably would not for another few days, the bladder of the smallest was now seen in an ultrasound. It was progress. Not a lot but any progress was good news. The surgery had been partially efficient. While they had burned many vessels a few were still left behind and a few more would most likely appear before the end of the pregnancy.

“While this is just my theory it has hold true to all magically caused TTTS I have monitored over the years. But since they are identical twin they strive to be perfectly identical while inside you. The one with the strongest magical core is trying to feed their sibling more blood so that they too can grow stronger. When they will be born their cores will be much closer in gap than they are now but the smallest will always be magically more accomplish.”

She again offered to magically sex the children and he again refused. He could not explain why but he wanted them to remain sexless and nameless until birth. He felt it was his right to keep the surprise and the good doctor easily agreed with a secret smile. The witch already knew! Well she was better not let it slip!

The breakfast he was offered the next morning was fit for a king. It had the feta and tomato panini he had been craving the night before with a side of breakfast potatoes, bacon and fruit with a peanut butter and honey dip to the side. The size of the dip grew bigger with each meal he noticed with a pleased smirk.

The pregnancy trouser and pants he was allowed to wear felt more comfortable than anything he had ever owned. The elastic waistband fell snug over his belly and his bits were cradled firmly to his body. With how sensitive they had become it was a blessing not to have them move about. While he was given many shirts and a few robes he refused to wear them and kept to Draco's dress robes. They were still wide around the chest but fit tight around his stomach. It kept his nipple from being rubbed too frequently. He was still unsure about wanting to nurse or not but he now knew he had the ability to. He could still remember the conversation he and Florence had had about it. He still felt awkward when thinking about it too...

“ Call me Florence Harry. Your breast feel so tender because your hormones are gearing them up to nurse. Yes Harry, nurse. In the womb all foetus start the same way undifferentiated by sex until they are at six week of gestation. The embryos form the same way until their sexual organs get defined at that point. They grow everything the same way. That includes breast tissues. While in males it is usually left dormant for life, in your case the pregnancy woke the process up. It is why they feel swollen to you. While they will never be as flat as they once were they will not forever stay the way they are now whether you chose to nurse or not.”

He had been floored. Everything he had thought he had known as a boy growing up in a muggle neighbourhood was wrong. Magic did exist, as did talking snakes, flying motorcycle, magical schools, mythical creatures and men pregnancies. Now he could add men breastfeeding to the list. Though he was told that even muggle men given proper hormone therapy could nurse, it was mostly unheard off and frown upon there.

He supposed it would depend on how sensitive his nipple felt while nursing... He would give it a try he firmly told himself. Try. If he did not like it or if it was too difficult he would switch to bottle feeding. Both methods seemed to have their own positive points and their draw backs. If Draco showed up, someday he though sarcastically, he would make the man pay. He could imagine ordering the male to rub his feet until he felt asleep, brush his hair until he got tired of the rhythmic pleasure it would give him, have him fetch his different cravings and the clothes the blond had worn to bed last so he could feel more comfortable. He could imagine the horror on his lover's face seeing him wear his clothing and forcing the fabric to stretch over his belly ruining them forever. Just thinking about it made him laugh maniacally.

Yet it also made him sad and sometimes sobs tore out of his throat without warning because Draco was not there. He was nowhere to be found. He knew Florence sent an owl a day. All had returned unopened so far. He wish he could force him naked a few more times to make him realize something was wrong back here, at home, where he should still be. The man should be back by now, no he should never have left. The farther along he was the more petulant he became and he knew that if he was not mad at the blond when he came back he would cry all the tears his body could hold until the man apologized at least five times.

Three weeks later the progress of his twins was not satisfactory yet. Too much blood was still passed from one to the other and while the liquid that had been accumulating in the bigger child went down it's heart was still showing signs of enlargement and the small baby's bladder while still visible was not producing enough urine to help replenish the amniotic fluid in it's sac. He would be schedule for a second procedure a week later. A first apparently. Why was he always the one to break records?

That week he was miserable. Nothing could cheer him up. Not even the pet owl sneaked into his room by a worried Jacob. While he liked the day shift nurses he preferred the men over them. They were friendlier.

He was now solely fed homemade meals since Florence and the day nurse had joined the other two in what was turning into a major food competition where no winner would be crowned. Somehow no one asked his opinion on the food except if he liked it or not. They were content to argue one against the other like bickering children about which recipe was the best. It was entertaining to watch if nothing else.

He now knew which television show passed at what time and was bored before he even turned the damned thing on. Annabelle tried to bring him a laptop but all he could find to do on it was look up what was affecting his children and the horror stories scared him so bad he needed to be calmed by injections again. He refused to touch the thing again. Books were brought to him after, mostly on defence, charm and care of magical creature. A girly romance novel was slipped here and there in the pile but he avoided them at all cost. He was so sensitive, hormonal and horny that anything could turn him on at that point yet he was unable to do anything about it. The hospital room offered little privacy and he had problems standing for long periods of time in the shower. It was also uncomfortable to wank because of the angle his arm had to take to avoid his belly. A belly he never thought in a hundred years he would have.

In fact his twins were taking so much space he could barely reach his dick to wash it. He had to sit down to pee or even worse have someone place the urinal for him. It was mortifying but still better than wetting the bed because he could not get up alone and because the staff was not fast enough to help him reach the loo in time. He needed help to get from laying to sitting and sitting to standing. He needed someone to help him lower himself safely because with his weight he tended to get down to fast and fall on his bum. He was told that jarring the babies too much could be dangerous because of the precarity pregnancy and he was not about to risk it.

The skin was stretched thin across is abdomen and while he could not see his own belly button. He was told at 25 weeks, three days from the second procedure that would happen on the morning of the 22^nd of February, that if the children kept growing at the rate they were growing now navel would pop out sooner rather than later. It was than he decided he would kill Draco Malfoy for putting him threw this hell!

He was passed being reasonable!

The second surgery was just as nerve racking as the first was. While he knew what to expect he knew which parts to fear the most. While everything that happened in the operating theatre was fine by him as he knew he would see and feel nothing but some pressure here and there, the preparation scared him even more. He would have to go threw a second epidural. He nearly fainted when he was told he would need a third one to give birth.

That time it was Jacob that got to stay by his side. He regaled Harry of stories about what his pregnant wife made him do and imagined himself doing the same to the blond. It probably made him laugh more than he normally would have but the bottom line was that it kept his restless mind on something else than his fears. While he craved honey and peanut butter on everything, Amanda added sardines and mustard to everything including cereals and ice cream much to the nurse's disgust. The woman, like him, was overly emotional and made little sense when stressed and her demands were just as strange as she was all over the place.

“The other day after coming home from work she was waiting on me with a broken hair straightener machine from hell in her hand which she threw at me because in her crazy pregnant mind I should have known that it was broken because her hair had been curly the day before! I had to actually duck it! She yelled at me another five minutes about breaking the damned thing before crying saying it was my fault and I did not understand her. Well at least she got that right. I just don't!”

Threw it all Mandy still made him breakfast seven days a week and dinner at least every few days. Therefore Harry decided he did not feel bad for Jacob and could not pity him and told him so. The man looked at him with puppy eyes for the rest of an hour and laughed it up in the end.

He also learned that Jacob was highly uncomfortable in the presence of the epidural needle and the man had to sit down because he felt faint. A nice student doctor held him to her breasts while the anaesthesiologist inserted the catheter in his back. She kept rubbing that small spot behind his left ear that kept him relaxed and docile.

The chatty student he learned was named Suisan after her great grandmother was the one to wheel him to the teather and even helped move him from the stretcher to the surgery table. She was so childish and sweet and cuddly that he just had to allow her to assist for the procedure after he made sure she would not touch anything. She swore an oat, took the hand that was not hooked up the the intravenous drop and stand a bit to the side to be able to see on the monitor.

This time he was strapped to the bed for a little over an hour and doctor Hughes pronounced him done until the birth of the children. She could see no more vessels and she was certain the twins would be fine until their birth.

He was in the recovery room when a head of fine blond hair burst in quickly followed by the dreaded Italian man. Both exclaimed as one that they would claim the children/child as their. Thus the magic took effect and he was washed over by the power of both men restricting both men from coming near him and preventing them both from killing one another. He was doomed, that's what he was!
