A/N: I apologize for the awkwardness of this first part, It should have been the end of chapter 3 but I missed it. I didn't want to put it there since I do have a few people actually reading as I'm posting.
I can honestly say I was disappointed with Charlie walking away. I know it was stupid to hope for a kiss, but the stories I could tell my friends. I needed to get a picture of him at least. Even if we don’t become pen pals, showing him off to my friends would be so much fun. I walked back to my room, changed for bed, set my alarm and then went to the bathroom to pee, brush my teeth and wash my face. I crawled under the sheet and rolled onto my side. It took me a while to fall asleep and when I did I dreamt of calloused hands running over my arms, back and sides, shaggy hair tickling my face as kisses were planted on my neck, and the feel of a well defined muscled chest under my hands.
Day 3 - Wednesday, June 12, 2002I woke up embarrassed, aroused, and not rested. My dreams had been so real and so hot! I was glad I wasn’t seeing Charlie today, I don’t know if I would have been able to look at him without blushing or fantasizing.
I didn’t bother to shower since I had just showered before dinner the night before and I was going to be in a bus most of the day. I got dressed, washed my face, brushed my teeth, put my hair in a braid and headed to breakfast. I had to get to the touring company by 9:30 and it was 8:45. I grabbed a glass of orange juice and a plate of scrambled eggs off the buffet and threw some bacon on top. I sat down at a table and pulled out the directions and information on the country tour and had just taken a bite of bacon when there was a shadow over me. I looked up and almost choked.
“Charlie!?”
“I’m so sorry to bother you this morning Gina, but I was wondering what time you would be coming back from your tour? I have something I’d really like to talk with you about and it can’t wait until tomorrow.”
“Is everything ok? If you can’t have dinner with me it’s ok. I understand.”
“No, I can. But I need to tell you something and I can’t wait until tomorrow.”
“Sit down, tell me now.”
“No, I can’t. It’s pretty big and you have plans. I won’t ruin your plans with it.”
“Charlie if you tell me you are married or have a girlfriend I will hurt you. You told me the other night you didn’t and I won’t have someone come hunt me down because you are a cheat.” I was starting to get upset.
He got on his knees in front me and grabbed my hands in this. “Gina, I swear it’s nothing like that, but it is something big. Please don’t worry about it today. It’s just something that I keep private and I want to share with you before you leave. Please? Can I meet with you tonight when you get back from your tour?”
“Yes. I should be back around 8.” I said in shock. He closed his eyes and a look of relief washed over him.
“Thank you.” he whispered as he stood back up. “I’ll be here.”

Charlie's POV
I walked out. I didn’t say goodbye or anything. I didn’t turn back. I hurried to the lobby of her hotel where I heard, “Well that was smooth. You Weasley men must all have the same ability to woo a girl.”
“Shut it Hermione.” I said to my sister-in-law as we walked out the front door.
“Seriously Charlie, I think you scared her to death in there. You’ll be lucky if she doesn’t run. The dropping to your knees was possibly a little over the top.”
“I said shut it. I blew it in there I’m well aware thank you very much. I can only hope that she’ll be kind enough to show up and meet me.
“Are you sure about this? Have you thought it through? I don’t think it’s the most logical step. So many things can go wrong. You’ve JUST met her.“
“Oh my god Hermione! SHUT IT! I KNOW. I KNOW THE RISKS AND IT’S KILLING ME. OK?!”
She stopped, stunned. I’d never spoken to her that way. We’ve always gotten on very well, but my nerves were working overtime and I didn’t need her nagging. I’m not sure how Ron could put up with that on a regular basis considering he’s nowhere near as calm as me. That made me grin.
I took a deep breath and blew it out so that it made my fringe blow up. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled. But yes, I know. I stayed up all night trying to figure out the best way to do this. I don’t think there is a good way. I’m just hoping that it’s not one of the worst ways. I really am sorry. Thank you for being willing to help me.”
She stuck her nose up in a very haughty manner. “It’s fine. I just wanted to make sure you thought it through. Merlin knows Ron and Harry never do.”
I gave her a quick hug and whispered ‘thank you’ into her hair and kissed the top of her head. “I’ll come round to get you around 5:30.”
She hugged me back. “Ok, I’ll see you then.”

The country side was beautiful, but my mind wandered horribly throughout the day. I took some good pictures, which will be helpful when I go through them and realize I don’t remember half of it. I’m on edge. I keep thinking of all the things he feels he should tell me before dinner. He swears he’s not married or seeing someone. I’m going to assume that he isn’t a charming serial killer or a charming prince. Is he sick? Does he have some kind of contagious disease? At least that would explain why he didn’t kiss me good night.
Maybe he didn’t kiss me because he’s not interested in me like that. That would make sense. Maybe I did something that scared him and he wants to make sure I know that we will only be friends, can’t be more than friends with that pesky ocean in the way. I should never have asked anyone for help when I was lost. I should have figured it out on my own. My mother told me not to talk to strangers, but I don’t think this was the reason why.
I had a picnic lunch overlooking a loch that reflected the bright blue sky and big puffy white clouds beautifully. It made the ducks and geese look like they were swimming in the sky. I took some pictures of them while I ate. After I was done I laid back to watch the clouds drift by. It was beautiful. Perfect. Like something out of a book or a movie. I laid there until the tour guide called us back to the bus. I packed up my stuff and headed back. Still thinking of Charlie and what he was going to tell me. Thinking about how he held my hands and that it was only the second time we’d touched even though I thought about putting my hand on his arm when we talk. Or holding his hand when we walked back from dinner.
I got back to the hotel around 7:15. I went to my room to put my stuff up and freshen up a little. It got warm and muggy and I was sticky with sweat. I made it back to the lobby at 8 and Charlie was standing there. He kept running his hand through his hair, kind of like how I pictured doing it. Damn, stop it. There was something serious going on that was going to screw something up. Do it like removing a bandage, quick. I took a deep breath and went down the rest of the stairs.
“Hey.” I said from behind him.
He spun and looked at me. He looked kind of wild eyed and nervous at the same time. I took a step back, maybe the serial killer thing wasn’t too far off.
“Hi.” he says as he reaches out like he’s going to grab my shoulders. He stops and lets his arms drop to his side. “You came. I wasn’t sure if you would.”
“Well, it seemed pretty important so I couldn’t not come, could I? We’re friends.” I look around and gesture to the bar. “Do you want to sit in there?”
“No, I’d rather go outside. Is that ok?”
“Yeah, Let’s go.” I reach the door first and hold it open for him. He walks past me and mumbles a thank you. He waits for me and then heads down the street. Again I think about holding his hands, but friends don’t typically do that. We walk without talking and he keeps sneaking looks at me. He seems scared and that terrifies me. We finally make it to a park, one I hadn’t seen before. It’s getting dark so it’s difficult to see all of the details of it. He heads to a back corner that has more trees and shrubs than other areas. It’s secluded. I start to feel uncomfortable again. He leads me to a bench and gestures for me to sit down. I do, but on the edge of the bench, ready to run if needed. He paces back and forth in front of me. He reminds me of the tigers at the zoo that do that. Muscular and beautiful, but agitated. I don’t say anything, I just sit there. He finally stops and faces me.
“I have something to tell you. If we really do become friends, good friends, it’s something that I would want to tell you anyway. But, I have my family dinner tomorrow and I asked you to dinner and now I don’t know what to do.”
“You could start by telling me everything in order. I have no clue what you are talking about.”
He takes a deep breath and faces me. “I asked you out for tomorrow.” I nod at him letting him know that so far I was following the conversation. “I forgot it was Thursday and I have my family dinner.”
“Ok, so we don’t have dinner. I don’t expect you not to see your family.”
“But they will be there next week and you won’t.” He looked hurt when he said that and my chest loosened up and a warmth spread through me.
“Charlie it’s ok, we have a plan remember. We’re going to write to each other. I don’t understand why you’re so upset. I m not asking you to skip out on your family.” I’m a little upset because there is a very good chance that I won’t see him again before I leave. I don’t want him to know how much that upsets me, because I’ve only known him for 3 days and it’s irrational to feel this way. He started pacing and running his hands through his hair again.
He stopped and looked at me. He ran a hand over his face and let out a huge sigh. “I want to be completely and totally honest with you, about two things and there is the possibility that both may cause you to run off screaming and not talk to me. I don’t want to take that chance but I don’t want to start off a friendship that I’m really hoping may move to more than a friendship without being honest.” He stopped talking and looked at me. I was staring back with wide eyes. He just said he wanted this to move past friendship. He’s as crazy as I am. I’m leaving in a few days, what are we doing!?
“Oh. Um, well that would have been the first thing I wanted to be honest about. I just hadn’t planned on blurting it out like that.”
“Charlie. I’m flattered, I really am, but I’m leaving 4 days. I will not be able to come back to England again. This was a once in a life time thing for me.” I was dying inside. “I just don’t see how this could possibly work. I think it may cause more pain than anything else. I still want to write and be friends, but I don’t think it’s wise to expect more.”
“What if there were a way we could see each other?”
“I know you said you fly single engine planes, but I’m pretty sure they won’t make it over the Atlantic and you’ve already told me that you don’t have tons of money laying around so you flying over on a whim isn’t going to happen.”
“I am going to show you something. I could tell you, but I think I’ll screw it up and sound like a nutter. Just keep your eyes on me.”
“Ok.”
I was looking at him. I didn’t blink, and he was gone.

Charlie’s POV
She was watching me. Her beautiful blue eyes looking so confused. I stood there and she never took her eyes off of me. I said a silent prayer that this wouldn’t backfire and I focused on my destination and turned.

Hermione’s POV
What an idiot! That’s what he chooses to show her? The shock I feel is overwhelming. When Charlie showed up by floo this morning while I was eating breakfast and enjoying a new book on Runes he said he needed my help. He had met a girl, a muggle, from America no less, and he really liked her. He wanted to tell her that he is a wizard. I told him that after only knowing her for three days wasn’t long enough to give her this information. He didn’t know where the relationship was going and this was a big chance he was taking. He had a plan. I would come with him and watch unseen. If it looked like she was going to run off screaming or have a breakdown from it he wanted me to modify her memory. He said I was the best he knew at using Obliviate for erasing just a portion of the memory. If she couldn’t handle it he wanted me to erase all memory of him and what he was going to show her from her mind. He also said he wanted me to erase all traces of her from his mind. He said he’d do it with or without me, but I was the safest choice. So here I am behind a bush watching as he disapparated in front of a muggle. I thought he would use accio and have something fly over to him. I finally overcome my shock to look at the girl sitting on the bench. It looked like someone had performed a full body bind on her. She wasn’t moving. I got concerned and started toward her with my wand ready.
