Chapter 4
AN: I’m trying to change POV a bit between the 3 main characters of the story. This one is Alexandra’s POV.

I felt excited when Lily invited me to Gryffindor’s victory party. I enthusiastically agreed to come. I was surprised that I was invited, not being a lion myself. When I brought it up, Lily reassured me that plenty of people from other houses would be there, except for the Slytherins. Unfortunately this meant that Severus would not be invited.
He’d overheard that I was going, and was in a snit after that. I tried to talk to him, but he had ignored me for the rest of the day.
I left him to his thoughts after four tries, and did what I always did when I had a fight with Severus, bury myself in schoolwork. I got so absorbed in it, that I missed dinner, again, damn, Lily was going to be pissed of. She hated that I skipped meals so often, she didn’t believe I got so caught up in what I was doing that I forgot the time. I was proud tough, by the time Mary came to look for me to get ready for the party, all my homework was done.

Upon entering the dorm, Mary immediately made a beeline for my closet. ‘So, what will you be wearing?’ she asked, going trough the clothes. I smiled to myself, Mary was always straight to the point. She’d already lain her own dress on her bed, a blue one, with spaghetti straps, and a matching pair of pumps.
I moved to the closet, and pulled out the dress I’d mentally picked out for this occasion.
It was a rather tight fitting black dress, with one long sleeve, which had a slit, revealing most of my arm and was attached to the wrist by a diamond clasp. It barely covered my bum, so my mother had bought it for me, telling me to wear it only when father wasn’t around. I put it on, to show Mary.
‘Okay, whose heart are your trying to win tonight? You look absolutely gorgeous!’ Mary exclaimed.
I looked in the mirror, it was a perfect dress, showing of my long legs, I slipped my feet in my black 5 inch sandals, which were also adorned with diamonds. This gave me some extra height, making me taller than most boys. I hoped it made me look more unapproachable. Sitting down on Mary’s bed, I let the other girl do my hair and make up.
When Mary was done, I looked in the mirror, my long black hair was up in a high ponytail, and Mary had given me smokey eyes, but the dramatic version. It was perfect, I looked dangerous.

Now it was Mary’s turn, I waved my wand, straightening the blondes’ short hair. I finished her look with some light blue eyeshadow, and soft pink lips.
‘all ready to go’ I declared.
We put on our cloaks, to hide the party dresses just in case we met a teacher on the way to the party, luckily we didn’t. It wasn’t that they were unaware of the party, or that it would, strictly spoken be forbidden, but the less teachers knew, the better.

We had agreed to meet Lily on the seventh floor. ‘Alex’ she exclaimed, relief flooding her face, great I thought, here comes the lecture. ‘Why weren’t you at dinner?’ she asked ‘Do you know Severus is worried sick about you?’ I raised her eyebrows in a Severus worthy manner. ‘sure he’s all worried about me, but doesn’t bother to talk to me, does he?’
‘I know you had a fight, about this party, but surely you understand what this is really about?’ Lily asked cautiously. I looked at her, puzzled, why did everyone always see some double meaning in small things?
‘He’s jealous I got invited to a party where he’s not welcome?’ I asked. Sure I knew what Lily was getting at, she had been telling me that Severus had a thing for me for a few months now. I was sure my friend was wrong, Severus could not be attracted to me, we were just friends, and he never hinted that he wanted something more.
Lily rolled her eyes at me ‘sure, that’s it’ she said sarcastic. ‘Stop it Lily, he’s not in love with me.’
‘Alex, you may be able to fool yourself, but Severus is most definitely in love with you.’ Mary said. Strange, Mary normally didn’t take sides in this argument.
We arrived at the party. It was a large room I was sure I’d never been in before. We donned our cloaks, and followed Lily to the punch bowl.
I was just getting a glass of punch when Lily said ‘Sirius black is staring at you like you’re dessert.’
I looked up, and found that Sirius was indeed staring at me. He looked away when I met his gaze, almost as If he was caught doing something he shouldn’t.
He looked really nice in his pale blue button down shirt and black pants. ‘Alex?’ Lily’s voice ended my thoughts. I realised my friends had been talking to me. ‘Sorry, I was thinking’ she smiled apologetically to my friends, hoping she was forgiven. ‘About Black?’ Mary asked, wiggling her eyebrows. ‘Don’t be silly’ Lily answered ‘she doesn’t even know Black.’ Mary shrugged ‘you don’t need to know him to know that he’s easy on the eyes.’
I blushed and hit Mary on the arm ‘stop looking at him, you’re drooling’ I said, trying to get their attention. ‘I do know him actually’ there, I said it, and it got their attention. Mary, who had been in the middle of taking a sip of punch, chocked on it. ‘What?’ She asked in surprise. ‘I meant besides his reputation for being a manwhore who slept with half of female Hogwarts.’ Lily said, equally surprised.
I led them to a small area where there were pillows on the ground, on which we sat down.
‘He was my only friend growing up, we see each other all the time in the holidays.’ I admitted ‘outside of school he’s a very attentive and caring person’ Oh why did I have to blush at a time like this? I hoped it was dark enough that both of them wouldn’t take notice. ‘But he never acknowledges you, he lets his friends bully you.’ Mary said. ‘It’s just he thinks his friends wouldn’t handle it well him being friends with me, so we, well, he decided not to talk to me at school.’ I explained.
Lily was about to say something, as a 7^th year Huffelpuff asked Mary to dance.
‘I’m okay with it Lils, I miss my friend, but if he doesn’t want to talk to me in school, maybe he isn’t a very good friend to have’, I said. As another song started, I got up, and held out my hand for Lily. ‘let’s dance’.

We danced until next slow song. I was asked to dance by Davy Gudeon.

I didn’t notice that Sirius was leaning against the wall, watching my every move, scowling at my dancing partner.
