   During the exam on Monday, Severus peeked over at Sera a few times to see how she was doing. Sera was calm and had no accidents, so he felt good about teaching her. It was not even until after the exam was over, that Severus realized he did not look at Lily once during the whole test. He did learn something interesting about Sera though, she was the only girl who did not glance at Sirius during the whole test. Sirius did look at her a lot though, at least Sera had good taste.
   Severus did not have an exam the next day since he did not take Care of Magical Creatures. This was a good thing since he needed time to figure out why he was, anything, about Sera. He did not realize he was standing in the hall, lost in his own head.
"I think Snivillus inhaled too many potion fumes," Sirius Black said. This snapped Snape back to reality and he growled at the Marauders. Then he saw Lily out of the corner of his eye and watched her just walk off, knowing what was happening.
"Just go away Black," Severus said.
"Why?" James asked. "Scared of us?"
   Severus was not scared, but also knew there was nothing he could say to them to get them to stop, but he still tried to go for his wand. So in turn the marauders did too, but before anything could be done another redhead showed up. It was Sera, and she distracted Sirius very well.
"Selwyn!" Sirius said. "Have you finally decided to go on a date with me?"
"Snape there you!" Sera said ignoring Sirius. "I've been looking for you."
"Him?!" Sirius exclaimed.
"Oh?" Severus asked.
"Yes, I was hoping to speak to you," Sera said. "I need to thank you for your help with Potions." She grabbed Severus's arm and started dragging him down the stairs. "And I know exactly how to do that."
"Noooo," Sirius fell to his knees being over dramatic. "Now she's going make out with Snivillus. How could I loose to him!"
"Uhh," Severus asked blushing. The idea of making out with her reminding him of his dream.
"Don't worry," Sera said. "Like always, Black is wrong." Severus was shocked to find he was almost disappointed. She sat them down on an empty bench in the dungeons. "I think I can help you with Evans."
"What?" Severus asked.
"You two have been friends forever," Sera said. "Did you two meet on the train?"
"We grew up in the same town," Severus said.
"Oh, that explains a lot," Sera said.
"So you think you can help me with her?" Severus asked.
"Yes," Sera said. "You two have been close for a long time. Besides your crush on her is very obvious" Severus's eye widened.
"Yet you're willing to help me? Even though she's a muggle born?" Severus asked.
"She's still a witch isn't she?" Sera said. "It's not her fault she came from fungi."
"Fungi?" Severus asked, there was something familiar about that to him.
"Muggles," Sera said.
"Oh," Severus said.
"It is not going to be easy or even an instant fix though," Sera told him. Severus just nodded glad for any help. "I need to ask you why."
"Why?" Severus asked confused.
"Why did you call her a mudblood?" Sera asked. "If she is your best friend, why would you call her that?"
"It just came out, because of the situation," Severus said.
"Exactly, why?" Sera asked again. Severus looked confused. "You are a Slytherin boy who spends his time mastering the dark spells, on top of normal school stuff. And you hang out with other Slytherin boys who throw around the word mudblood with ease and believe Evans should not go to school with us. All while being best friends with a muggle-born Gryffindor girl." Severus nodded, she really did watch everyone. "You are aware that the two sides of your life contradict each other."
"Umm," Severus said, he had never really thought about that before. "I... I don't know."
"That's the problem," a familiar voice said from behind. He turned quickly and saw Lily.
"That's what you need to think about," Sera said.
"Sev, your new friend is right," Lily said then sighed. "I'm still a little mad at you, but I won't cancel the friendship..." Lily started, and Severus got his hopes up. "If you promise to think about and figure who are you really are."
"Really?" Severus asked.
"Yes," Lily said.
"You do know this is not answer you can have ready tomorrow, or even maybe even in this month?" Sera asked. Lily nodded in agreement.
"I know," Severus said.
"Maybe the three of us could study for our History exam tomorrow," Lily said. "After I take my Care of Magical Creatures Exam."
"Really?" Severus asked. "What do you think Selwyn?" Sera took a moment and looked back and forth between Severus and Lily.
"We're friends?" Sera asked Severus.
"If you want to be," Severus said, he did like hanging out with her.
"Do I get to call you Severus?" Sera asked, this surprised him. "I think its a good name." Lily giggled.
"If you want..." Severus said, no one had ever said that about his name before.
"You can call me Lily too," Lily said. "Can we call you Sera?"
"Sure," Sera said, but she didn't seem too excited about it.
"Okay I'll see you two tomorrow," Lily said and headed back upstairs.
"Sera?" Severus asked.
"Yes, Severus?" Sera said with a smile. Severus had never seen her really smile before. "You name really is cool." He blushed.
"I do not know how, but thank you," Severus said.
"You helped me with my Potions Exam," Sera said. "I think I could actually get an A now."
"I think you are smarter than that," Severus said.
"Thank you, Severus," Sera said standing. "I'm going to go over my Astronomy and Arithmancy notes."
"Ohh, umm..." Severus started, for some reason he wanted to spend more time with her.
"Yes, Severus?" Sera asked.
"Severus!" Turnus showed up with Evan Rosier and Regulus Black. "There you are! We are having a meeting."
"Hello, Selwyn!" Evan said. She just nodded.
"Ohh, alright," Severus said. "See you later Sera."
   Evan looked shocked that he could call her by her first name. She nodded and they all walked to the common room together but she continued on to the girls' dorm room. Evan kept asking Severus how he was able to call Seraphina, Sera, he seemed to be jealous. Then the other guys showed up to what they called the Death Eaters in training meetings. But for the first time, Severus was not paying attention, he was thinking about Sera and Lily and what was said.
