Chapter three: the Awkward Following Day
I sneered to myself as I stepped in front of the doors which lead to the Great Hall. The sound of massive amount of conversations erupted from within this enormous room and floated about my ears annoyingly.
I walked through the entrance slowly and gazed about my fellow peers whom paid no attention. They all were consumed in their petty conversations or the large, unnecessary plates of food before them. I smirked in disgust; I do not know why my father insists I must associate myself with this, but no matter. I was not meaning to look at these pathetic creatures, but rather for my beautiful Harry, who had failed grace the room with his presence at this particular moment.
With a feeling more somber than previously, I made my way over to the Slytherin table.
My robes flew behind my slender body with each stride, my face had a smirk pressed upon it, and my head was planted high above my body.
As I passed the Hufflepuff table I heard a girl squeal, "Bloody hell! Draco looks absolutely stunning today!"
I turned my head to find a chubby girl, with greasy brown hair and scores of pimples, ogling at my handsomeness at such a large amount that it seemed her eyes would pop right out of her head.
I grinned devilishly to myself and continued my journey, and as I did such I discovered to my fancy that she was not alone in noticing my looks today. Dozens of young girl's fol followed me to my table.
True, I had spent a bit extra time on preparing my appearance for today, yet I had no indication I would be so incredibly distracting. I was pleased with this reaction, though, for Harry's would possibly be the equivalent.
However, more than likely Harry will pretend as though nothing had occurred last night, and ignore me for the duration of the day. Yet, if he chooses to behave this way, and the odds are he will, I will be able to force him to speak to me, for I continue to possess his Invisibility Cloak, and I'm certain he will soon be missing that.
I sat down at my house's table, strategically further down from the rest of the students. I did not wish to converse with any of them, all of those forced 'how was your summer' conversations are so dull.
"Draco!" screeched a familiarly exasperating voice which belonged to Ms. Parkinson.
"Oh, dear god, does she never cease?" I mumbled to myself, audibly, in prospect she perhaps would hear.
"Oh, you look delicious today!" she squealed as she coiled her arms about my neck.
"Get off, will you! You'll ruin my appearance," I shrieked, as I tore away her arms.
"Oh, yes sorry."
She plopped herself next to me. I gave her a scowl, and a disgusted grunt. She paid no heed.
I rolled my eyes, with the release of a long sigh and began my usual rant to her of how I find her extremely irritating. "You know I really..." I was cut off by a sudden feeling of beauty entering the Great Hall. I spun my head around to the door where I found those glowing emerald eyes staring at me.
My entire body ceased working; I could neither breathe, nor think, all of my energy was confiscated by his beauty. I became unaware of any other beings existence, he was all that mattered. His eyes, his beautiful eyes were gazing at me, and no one else. I felt special, so incredibly special. My world was brightened, my cold heart beat rapidly, I was in Nirvana by his mere presence.
Our eye lock was nevertheless quickly broken, however, by his modesty, as he forced himself to gaze down to the boring floor, so that he would divert himself from me. The deafening voices of the other students penetrated my ears once more, Pansy's voice being among them.
"Draco! What is it? What are you looking at! Hello?!"
"What, wench?" I snapped.
"Oh, there you are!" she giggled, ignoring the "wench" comment. "As I was saying I heard that Lavender Brown..." she began with her usual, dreadfully tedious gossip. Which I failed to even pay attention to, being so engrossed in Harry, whom was behaving as I had suspected, at the present moment.
His deliberate disregard of me was quite cruel to bear, and so, feeling as though I could no longer stand it, I had to depart. With no regard for Pansy's futile one-sided conversation I got up, and walked out of the Great Hall.
Once outside I removed my schedule for the year from my cloak to see which class I was to attend first. As I skimmed down the list I was delighted to find I had my favorite class with my new favorite person. I smirked at the very thought of how much amusement that particular class will be.

Harry had refused to acknowledge my existence for the entire day, as I had suspected. I had attempted to prepare myself for this sudden deprivation, yet remained to hurt, deeply, when I would I gaze at him, and he returned no gesture of any affection in my favor.
Potions, my absolute preferred class, was my first chance to speak with him however, for I had Snape practically on his knees awaiting my every command, and I could do anything I pleased in his class.
As we began to construct the first potion of the year, I shot my hand into the air with a false complaint of not being supplied with the proper amount of ingredients, knowing full well what Snape's reaction would immediately be.
"Potter, give Malfoy some of yours!" he demanded, with a smile spread across his face. He found torturing Harry a bit too pleasurable.
Harry refused to meet my gaze, and rather turned incredibly pink, failing to add any objection, to my satisfaction.
I quickly scribbled a note beneath my seat (far from any others site) folded it neatly, and waltzed over to the blushing Harry Potter.
Though, once I approached him I found my cheeks were burning as well, along with my heart pounding insanely and my breath slowing.
"Hello, Potter," I said wittily, despite my internal freight.
"Take what you need, Malfoy," he said mechanically without eye contact, attempting to shield his true feelings no doubt.
"Oh, yes. I already have all of that," I stated, motioning the ingredients with my hands. "Silly me! I'll return to my desk now." I leaned in closer to him. "I just wished to make it evident to you, that I do indeed exist, Potter," I quietly hissed into his ear.
This action caused him to gaze into my eyes. It suddenly became patent to me that he was undergoing torture, as well. His eyes told me he was not meaning to be cruel, he was merely scared. Never experiencing feelings such as this before. I realized my presence was hurting him deeply, as his lack of acknowledgment of myself did to me.
I turned away from him, unable to cause him anymore pain. As I walked away, I allowed the tiny folded note to leave my hand and flutter onto the desk before him. I did this carefully and cautiously making certain no one saw. He placed his hand upon it gently, as though it were a precious item, and sat in his seat, where it was opened.
I sat down at my desk, and continued to watch him as he read. I knew what he saw:
Potter-
Although you have been ignoring me for the entire day, last night did occur. But I shall not get into that. I have something of yours which you might find a great loss if not returned. You left it in the gardens last night. If you do not know what I speak of, it is your Invisibility Cloak, and perhaps you should find such precious items more dear. Allow me into the Gryffindor common room at midnight tonight, where upon I shall return your cloak. If there are still students in the common room at midnight, which I highly doubt, meet me outside the doorway at the previous time listed. Be prompt, I despise people who keep me waiting.
-Draco
I studied his reaction as he read, he appeared to not be disgusted, and seemed a bit relieved, oddly. I was certain he would not stand me up. And so with this reassurance, I continued to about my business, and for the first time in the past two days, I removed my eyes from him willingly.
