“Right.” Melody began as they all sat around the table that Celeste had drug into the kitchen. “Who’s first?”
“I’ll heal on my own from here.” Alex groaned as he popped his shoulder back into joint.
“Sev then.” Melody nodded. “Luna, do you want to stick around for this?”
“Actually, I’d rather go chat with the water sprites about dabberblimps.” Luna said. “They can be most dangerous.”
“Sure thing Luna.” Melody said and whistled out the open kitchen window. A few moments later, a black horse head popped through and whinnied. “Hey Izzy!” Melody said, scratching the mare’s nose affectionately. “Can you take Luna here to the creek bed? She’d like a word with the water sprites.”
Izzy nickered and started to remove her head but stopped when another whinny was heard. Melody blinked and then started laughing. “You have got to be joking.” She said as the red mare Draco remembered as Button stuck her head through the window and snorted. “Alright, fine. Button would like to take you to see the water sprites. Izzy, go with her just in case the unicorns give you any flack alright?”
Izzy snorted and nickered and then removed her head. “You’ve got to be joking.” Alex said incredulously.
“I’m not. It’s quite shocking. Button has never taken a liking to anyone, me included but she rather rudely insisted. Luna, they’ll be waiting for you right outside the front door. Just ask nicely and they’ll let you ride bareback if you wish.”
“Thank you. I think I’ll ride the red mare. She’s got a smooth way of going.” She said mysteriously and waltzed out the door.
“Unicorns?” Draco asked incredulously.
“They tend to hang around from time to time.” Melody shrugged.
“I thought you could only talk to your familiar.” Hermione said, her head cocked as she watched Luna gracefully jump on Button and take off like a shot, Izzy hot on their heels.
“I can. Izzy is my relay for Button and every other horse on the place. It comes in quite handy.” Melody answered as she pulled out a black cauldron and set it on the stove. “Now, there should be some dittany in the upstairs bathroom Celeste, if you could fetch it real fast. I’ll make the pain potion. We’re going to need a lot of it I fear.” Celeste nodded and ran out of the room.
“Are you planning on having us fight every day?” Alex asked calmly.
“No. Next time you two fight, I suggest angry sex instead.” She quipped and stifled a laugh when Harry started choking after inhaling sharply.
“I don’t get to beat him that way.” Alex tossed back.
“Not with your hands.” Melody joked and ended up barking a laugh when Harry snapped his hands over his ears. “Alright Potter, I’ll quit taking about man sex!” She said loudly and Harry removed his hands with a sigh. “Ah, I do so love the innocent.”
“They’re fun to play with.” Celeste agreed as she stalked back into the room and started applying dittany to Severus’s many cuts.
“So, on to the next part, any more broken bones you two?” Melody asked as she dumped a few ingredients into the cauldron and stirred three times counterclockwise and then once across diagonally.
“No.” They both answered at the same time.
“So wordy today. You’ve both got to quit chatting my ear off.” Melody said dryly. “Any other major concerns I should know about?”
“No.” They answered again and Melody tutted and threw a few more ingredients in the cauldron and stirred them in. “Alright, then all you need is blood, right?”
“No.” and “Yes.” Came at the same time.
“Well, which is it?” Melody snapped.
“Alex requires blood. I do not.” Severus clarified.
Melody turned around and cocked her head. “I beg to differ Sev. You look like shit and daywalker blood will only get you so far. You’ve been stretched too thin again.”
“I will be fine.” He growled.
“Nonsense.” Melody snapped. “I’ll go get the blood replinisher.”
“There is something else we could get out of the way.” Alex cut in softly, causing everyone to look at him. “Potter? Have you made your choice yet?”
Harry froze in the doorway, his eyes wide and his breathing shallow. Ginny cut her eyes at him worriedly and started rubbing his shoulder. Hermione walked over to him slowly and talking in soft tones.
“It’s okay Harry. You don’t have to do it if you don’t want. There’s no rush, honest.” She said, her voice cracking under the stress of her lie. She’d heard Melody’s theories quite clearly.
“You’re lying.” Harry said softly.
“No.” Hermione squeaked.
“You’re going to go with that?” Harry asked dryly and Hermione had to laugh sadly. “If I do this, what happens?”
“Well, you get to sit in Alex’s lap just like Santa Clause and tell him what you want for Christmas.” Melody said deadpan.
Harry’s mouth opened and shut for a moment, making him look a lot like a fish out of water and then he burst out laughing. All the teenagers joined him. The adults wore matching smirks.
“I’m only half joking Potter. You will have to sit on Alex’s lap. It’s a sign of submission. He’ll drink his fill and then you’ll take a sip from him and he’ll incite an ancient incantation marking you as his child. That’s it. As his vampy wife, I’ll be able to step in for your mother.”
Harry shook his head. “I’ll turn.”
“The turning only works if you get injected with venom, and only if you aren’t Melody or Harmony apparently.” Alex snorted. “The reason a vampire feeds the newly turned with their own blood is because it is nutrient rich and will sustain them through the turning. Vampire blood is used in many banned healing potions because not only does it work a bit too well, it forges a tiny bond that is considered dark under the circumstances.”
“A bit too well?” Harry asked weakly.
“Let’s just say you could find yourself looking much better Potter.” Melody grinned.
“What?” Harry asked.
“Old joke.” Alex chuckled. “An old man sold a horse and told the buyer that he didn’t look too good. The buyer said the horse looked just fine and took him. A few hours later he came back and complained that he’d been swindled because the horse was completely blind. The old man said I told you he didn’t look too good. See?”
“So I wouldn’t need my glasses anymore?” Harry asked, the possibility tempting.
“Your eyesight could improve, true.” Alex said. “But it isn’t a sure thing. You could get stronger, faster, although those are unlikely since you are in good condition, if a little underweight. You could get absolutely nothing except a father substitute to step in for you and a rather embarrassing moment spent in the arms of a vampire.”
“Embarrassing moment.” Harry said flatly.
“Being bitten is everything they say it is Harry.” Melody said softly. “Even I am not immune to it and I’m not sure I want to be anyway. It’s a normal reaction to…react.” She said awkwardly.
Harry paled. “You mean I’d, um.. I’d…”
“Get off? Yes.” Melody supplied. “Don’t worry Potter, we won’t ever mention it.”
“I, um, I don’t want an audience if I decide to do this.” He choked out.
“You need one.” Alex said firmly. “If I can’t stop, they’ll need to snap me out of it. A feeding frenzy is not pretty and hard to control.”
“How do you feed off of Melody then?” Harry asked curiously.
“If I ever go too far, she hexes me across the room.” He answered.
“I thought you couldn’t use magic in this house.” Harry countered.
“You can’t.” Alex agreed. “But that doesn’t stop her from doing other things. Back when she had no magic, she would actually stab me in the arm with a silver knife. It was a wakeup call, to say the least. I learned quickly but I still don’t trust myself completely.”
“If you don’t trust yourself, why do this?” Harry gulped.
“I will never completely trust myself Potter. It’s just my nature. However, if it makes you feel better, I haven’t lost it in a few years.”
“That doesn’t sound very good considering how long vampires live…or exist.” Harry said slowly.
“Considering I’ve only been a vampire for a little over five years, I’d say I have a pretty damned good track record.” Alex mused. “Still, I would never attempt a feeding without someone to keep me in line. The choice is yours though. If you decide not to do this right now, I’ll drink the replenished blood.”
“And if I decide to do it?” Harry asked softly.
“It won’t take but maybe ten minutes, start to finish.” Alex shrugged. “Everything will be in place for you if you decide to complete the rites with Ginny.”
“How, um, how soon can we do that?” Harry whispered.
“We can do it tonight if you want.” Melody chimed it. “We’ll have to do it in the pasture of course and I’ll have to go get Dumbledore to officiate since he’s got authority but it’s relatively easy. We’d just need to figure out your colors.”
“Why don’t they just use ours?” Hermione asked quietly. “Their situation is almost the same so white, yellow, red, gold, and silver.”
“It could work.” Severus broke his silence. “I had a very long chat with Albus about it and he agreed to do it if it was decided.”
“It’s just so fast…and forever.” Harry said. Ginny tried to cover her gasp but failed miserably. Harry turned to her. “You’d want to be stuck with me forever? I mean, they didn’t have a choice but we do. We don’t have to do this.”
Ginny took a steadying breath. “I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you Harry. You were an enigma, a hero, then a friend, and now I know the real you and I love you more for it. I don’t think I’m going to change my mind.”
Harry nodded and then looked around a bit wildly. He felt a bit like being backed into a corner even though they’d repeatedly told him that they didn’t have to do this. He felt like he sort of had to. It wasn’t being with Ginny that was the problem. It was putting her into even more danger than she was in.
“How about some pros and cons?” Melody offered and Harry nodded gratefully. “Alright, we’ll start with the cons. Obviously, you’re just kids. There will be no parental blessings, no other friends or family, not even Ron. You’ll have a secret relationship, well almost secret. The phenoms will know…and my sister because you can’t keep anything from her. Then of course, this is until death do you part. If one of you were to die, the other would be able to move on. It isn’t like Hermione and Draco’s union. You aren’t dependent on each other. Did I miss anything?”
“What if he finds out?” Harry asked softly.
“Then we’re all dead.” Melody shrugged. “On that note, Sev has agreed to brew you an occlumency potion to take while you sleep. It will allow you to relax in your slumber and keep you from sharing the dark bastard’s thoughts while your sleep.”
“Why didn’t he do that before?” Harry asked tersely, trying very hard not to snap.
“Occlumency potion isn’t a solution Potter.” Severus said darkly. “It’s more of a glorified bandage. It sets up a block but it’s quite easy to get past it. The way is through pain. Ask Hermione how simple it was to pass the potion.”
Hermione ducked her head. “It wasn’t even an issue Harry. Once the…pain…started it was like opening a book.”
“So why bother?” Harry asked.
“Because there is no one here to cause you pain.” Melody said softly. “It will allow you to relax your mind fully and concentrate on your magic and the way it feels and responds to Ginny’s. You have to be careful with it though. It does have side effects like upset stomach and headaches. If you experience either one, let us know immediately.”
“Alright.” Harry sighed and then cleared his throat. “Pros then.”
“Your magic. Once your magic settles and bonds with your soul mate, you’ll have ultimate control over it. You can lend over short distances, combine it to block the killing curse, command it to do anything you want and best of all, you won’t feel unsettled anymore. I know you’re convinced that your restlessness is from the war but I can assure you that a great deal of it stems from your magic. Think about how you felt when you were little, before you even knew magic existed. You were restless then. You’ll feel ultimate calm afterwards.”
“So magic is the only pro?” Harry asked in shock.
“Of course not. You get a companion, a wife, a friend, someone to spend your life with…a family by more than obligation. Marriage is hard Harry. Over half of them end in divorce but it can be rewarding beyond all of that. If you are truly, truly worried about it, we can leave out the fidelity bonding. You’ll still be married but you can be with other people.” Harry looked at her horrified.
“It happens more than you think Potter.” Melody sighed. “Anyway, you can talk amongst yourselves about that. Let’s see, other pros. There’s sex, of course. Did I mention you’ll have a family? It’s an extended one at that. With Alex and I as your acting parents, that means that you will be related to me and my sister as well as her husband and his sister Celeste. From there, you’ll be related to Sev and Hermione and Draco by blood.”
“And Ginny.” Harry sniffed.
“We’ll just pretend that link isn’t there.” Melody giggled. “It isn’t like you’re actually related…well more than any other pureblood lineage. Now, keep in mind that if we do the rite now, you will be her husband for all points and purposes but it won’t keep you from having a formal marriage later with friends and family.”
“So we can still have a normal wedding and hand fasting?” Ginny asked timidly.
“Of course!” Melody said brightly. “I’ll personally scare the reporters away! There is one more thing though Potter, if you are worried about her and want to protect her. There’s a way to keep any…um…intimate harm from coming to her.”
“How?” Harry said softly.
“I mentioned leaving out the fidelity bond for the sake of finding others should you want to. If you leave it in, it will protect her from being sexually abused. You’ll know it’s happening. It will feel like needles across your skin. If it progresses to a dangerous level, it will actually harm the attacker to the point of rendering him completely useless.”
“They could still hurt her, kill her.” Harry growled.
“Yes but trust me, you don’t want her to have to go through that.” She said, her breath hitching a bit. Alex grabbed her hand and held it firmly in his. She cleared her throat. “There’s also the tattoos, the ones like Draco and Hermione’s. They serve as a roadmap for your health and wellbeing…and as a warning to others. Draco, take off your shirt real fast.”
Draco raised both eyebrows in surprise but shrugged and took off the long sleeved button down he wore. The silver tattoos glinted in the light of the kitchen and sent sparkles across the room. Melody motioned for him to stand in front of Harry.
“Now, you haven’t seen all of these and there are more but I’ll give you the basic rundown. This band on his right arm is a protection band. There are two on his ankles as well. Now, they say that they’ll activate in times of great need but we haven’t seen them triggered yet. This one here on his lower back is the symbol of his patronus. The one on his upper back signifies his relationship with Hermione and his main animagus form. This one around his belly button is basically a large diagnostic. It tells us if he’s in good health, what is wrong, etc. Hermione’s will change if she’s with child.” She motioned for Draco to don his shirt.
“These runes can help you monitor each other as well. We haven’t covered this with them yet but we’ll teach you how to read them all. All you have to do is look down and know she’s okay. It’s like having a life line to her.” Melody breathed and shot a look at Severus. His face was closed off behind a mask but his eyes held understanding. Ginny would be able to see Potter’s health through the runes on the tattoos.
“Will I be able to hear her in my head like those two?” Harry asked.
“No.” Melody said. “That was actually an accident on their part and I seriously don’t recommend trying to recreate it, especially since that’s part of the reason they can’t be far apart from each other. It’s much more trouble than it’s worth. Now, you two can probably link a dreamshare like Harmony and I do. You can search for each other in your dreams and communicate that way.”
“Could we do that without the rites?” He asked curiously.
“It would be extremely hard. Even as my twin, Harmony and I couldn’t do it until Sev switched our cores. You have to have a bit of the other person in you.”
“So if I did this, I could dreamshare with Alex?” Harry said, trying to figure it out.
“You could but it would be extremely difficult seeing as Alex doesn’t sleep.” Melody smirked. “However, with your bond to Alex, should you be in extreme danger, he could feel it and find you.”
“And if I do this now, the only thing that changes is that I’ll have acting parents.” Harry said, trying to clarify things.
“That’s it.” Melody said softly. “And perhaps better eyesight but not guaranteed.”
“Hermione…could I speak to you outside for a moment?” Harry asked softly.
“Sure Harry.” Hermione smiled sadly. She patted Draco on the arm and followed Harry outside.
“I know they can still hear us out here but at least I don’t have to see them.” Harry mumbled as he sat on the porch swing.
Hermione laughed and sat beside him, laying her head on his chest just like they used to. She understood why now. Their magic calmed each other. It was as natural as breathing. She had to laugh a bit at that. “Well, Ginny can’t hear you and I assume that’s what you were going for.”
“Yea.” Harry said shyly. “Hermione, how bad is it, really?”
“Honestly?” Hermione asked and felt Harry nod. “I was horrified at first, terrified beyond belief and outraged that I had to give up my life for this. I was beyond distraught that I’d live a life without love and then…something happened.”
“What?”
“A wise old bat told me that I’d have more love than I’d know what to do with. He was right too Harry. If you would have taken me aside six months ago and told me that I would love Draco Malfoy so much that it hurt, I’d of hexed you seven ways from Sunday and booked you a permanent residence in St. Mungo’s next to Lockhart. You were there Harry. I was so scared. We were too young, still are really but if I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat. You have no idea how much more balanced I feel now.
“It’s like...I can finally breathe. Before, all the studying, trying to be perfect, know everything there was to know, I think I was compensating because my magic was so out of whack. Even with the bonds in place, I knew I was attracted to the dark. It’s why I fought so hard against it. I wanted to give in. Now, I still have the drive, the thirst for knowledge, but it doesn’t consume me anymore.”
“So you’re saying a bat, who shall not be named, had a heart to heart with you. You listened and now you are happy as a clam to sit back and not study.” Harry said slowly.
“Harry Potter, did you listen to a word I said?” She shrieked and smacked him hard across the chest.
“Easy Mione.” Harry grimaced. “We aren’t all made of steel you know.”
“Sorry! Did I hurt you?” Hermione pulled back.
“A little bit.” Harry laughed and then hugged her back to his chest. “So it’s really not that bad.”
“No Harry, it’s really not that bad. Honestly, it’s probably one of the best things that have ever happened to me. Sure I would have liked to take it a bit slower but I’m perfectly happy. Seriously.”
“Do you think Ginny and I will be the same?” Harry breathed.
“Without a doubt. You two were made for each other.”
“Molly’s going to kill me.”
“Molly will never know. As far as she will be concerned, Harry Potter asked for her daughter’s hand in marriage the day the war ended. She’ll be ecstatic. She’ll plan another wedding. You’ll be fussed over until you wish you could elope and then you’ll giggle because that has already happened.” Hermione laughed.
“One more question.” Harry breathed.
“What’s that?”
“How in the hell did you have a heart to heart with a bat?”
“Harry!” Hermione half growled, half giggled and they had a tickling match on the front porch.
---------
“He doesn’t want to do this.” Ginny said, staring at the floor.
Draco sighed and scooped her into a hug. It was still a bit awkward but the red head needed a shoulder to lean on and he was getting so used to the Gryffindor need to touch and feel that it almost came naturally. She leaned her forehead into his chest. “He’s scared.” Draco said softly.
“I’m scared too.” Ginny croaked.
“Well I’m not holding a wand to your head.” Melody chided. “Honestly, if you two don’t want to do this, you don’t have to. It’s just a suggestion.”
“But it will help in the long run, won’t it?” Ginny asked. “Isn’t that why these two did it?” She asked, bumping her head against Draco’s chest.
“It was a strategic move, yes.” Draco answered. “We could have just shagged like bunnies and been fine but look how much better we are now for it.”
“That’s why I want to do it.” Ginny said. “It seems wrong though, to use it as an excuse to win a war.”
“Slytherin.” Draco said shortly and Ginny laughed.
“Did you know that hat wanted to put me in Slytherin? Harry too.” Ginny giggled. “Guess we have more in common than you thought.”
“I knew there was a reason I liked you.” Draco chuckled. “Why did it put you in Gryffindor?”
“Because I told it my mum would burn it to ash if it didn’t.” Ginny quipped.
“Smart hat.” Severus drawled.
“Oh father.” Ginny breathed and then blushed. It was still hard to keep from calling him that. “Do you think this is a good idea?”
“At first, I didn’t think so.” Severus said softly. “You know I have no love for Potter. However, I can’t deny the benefits outweigh the negatives. You will be better off for it.”
“Can Harmony tell if a marriage will last?” Ginny asked softly.
Melody smiled. “She can.”
“And ours?”
“We’re not supposed to say.” Melody bit her lip. “But it seems that we’ve already broken that law A LOT and I’m still here so I’ll simply say that it will be a very happy marriage. It’s a good match, plain and simple.”
“That’s all I needed to know.” Ginny said softly.
Melody giggled. “You already knew it though.”
“I just needed to hear it from someone else.”
“Quite understandable.” Melody nodded. “It won’t be easy though.”
“I know.” Ginny said. “But nothing worth having is ever easy to obtain.”
“Spoken like an adult.” Severus said. “Potter doesn’t believe I have a heart in my possession.” He frowned. “However, I will begrudgingly tell you this. Everything I told your dunderhead brother is true. You are a strong woman, in will, in mind, and in power. You are going to make one hell of a warrior on the field and a fine wife for Potter. Don’t be like me. Don’t let your fear rule you.”
“Thank you father.” Ginny said, holding back the tears she knew he wouldn’t appreciate. “You have no idea how much that means coming from you.”
“Yes well, repeat it and you’ll know the true meaning of pain.” Snape snapped and Ginny couldn’t help but giggle.
About that time, Harry came trotting into the kitchen. Hermione was hot on his heels and came to a halt when she saw her husband embracing Ginny. She tilted her head in shock.
“Oi!” Harry growled. “Hands off my girl Malfoy.”
Draco lifted his hands in a sign of surrender. “She’s all yours Potter. That is, if you’ve decided you’ll have her.”
“That should be the other way around I think.” Harry frowned. “Will she have me?”
“Of course I will you stubborn git!” Ginny growled and launched herself into his arms.
“So are we doing this or what?” Melody cut in after a few minutes. “Sev needs to feed because he isn’t healing any faster and Alex hasn’t fed since Pettigrew even though he’s assured me he has, the liar.”
“How did you know?” He growled.
She pointed to her head. “You aren’t the only master legilimens in this house.”
“That’s completely unfair.” Alex pouted.
“And what you did was?” Melody drawled.
“You liked it.” Alex mumbled.
“Beside the point.” Melody smothered a smirk. “Now, Potter, if you’re still nervous, I’ll volunteer to make an ass of myself so you can see how this works. This goes no further than this room though.”
Harry nodded his head and watched nervously as Melody took a deep breath and climbed on Severus’s lap, straddling him and ducking her head. “Sorry Alex.”
“What the hell are you apologizing for now?” Alex growled.
“You know how I get.” Melody said softly.
“Can’t be helped.” Alex shrugged. “Honestly, like you need to explain it to me. You do have the replinisher though, right?”
“It’s in my pocket.” She said, digging it out.
“Celeste, hold it.” Alex ordered. “She’ll drop it and she won’t be in any shape afterwards to dig it out.”
Melody handed Celeste the bottle of blood replinisher and then took a deep breath to steady herself. Severus wrapped one arm around her waist and fitted her snug against his body. He brushed her hair out of the way and bent her head to the side, cradling it in the palm of his left hand. He licked her neck and then extended his fangs. He ignored Potter’s gasp as he sunk his teeth into her jugular vein and suckled deeply.
Harry watched with a mixture of awe and horror as Melody moaned softly and started wiggling in his lap, the bite obviously arousing her. A few moments later, he felt his face heat up as she stiffened and gave a muffled cry, shuddering. Still, Snape’s fangs were buried deep within her neck and his eyelids fluttered as he sucked her blood. Melody went pale and then started moaning, shuddering again and again. Finally, she shivered and gave a slight whimper. Snape pulled out and licked the wounds on her neck, making sure to clean up all the excess blood.
Celeste tipped the bottle to her lips and coaxed her to swallow a tiny amount before recorking the vial. Snape gently pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her for warmth. Harry figured she had to be cold with as much blood as she probably lost. Her eyes fluttered shut as she lost consciousness, her head cradled to Snape’s chest like a china doll.
“She fainted!” Harry said in alarm.
“She always does.” Alex said softly, his eyes fixated on her still glistening neck. “Not everyone does though. Most are just cold and dizzy until the blood can be replenished. Are you sure you want to do this?”
Harry looked down at Ginny. She’d been transfixed, remembering back to the first time Snape had drank her blood, his uncontrolled frenzy. He wasn’t as bad now though. She chocked it up to a combination of not being so depleted and being able to drink from the source. She found she sort of envied them in that moment, being able to connect like that.
“I’m sure.” He said, watching the slightly sad look on her face as she saw her professor cradle his old lover like a precious doll. He walked over and stopped awkwardly in front of the vampire, not sure what to do.
“We can do this either way. You can straddle my lap like Melody or you can face everyone else. Both are probably equally embarrassing on your part. You saw what will happen.” Alex drawled softly.
Harry looked over at his friends and weighted his choices. He could face them and they could see everything or he could face the vampire and have a rather embarrassing interaction but only have them hear his moans. He straddled Alex uncomfortably and craned his neck, bracing himself for the pain of the bite.
Alex leaned forward and wrapped an arm around Harry’s waist so he wouldn’t move too much. “Now, it will only be a sharp sting, like getting poked with a needle and then nothing but pure pleasure. If you start to feel numbness in your extremities or if you feel like you’re going to black out, tap me on the shoulder. They’ll also be monitoring you. They can hear your heartbeat, smell the amount of blood left in your veins. They’ll pull me off if I can’t stop. After I heal the wounds, I’m going to cut a small gash in my wrist. Drink at least two mouthfuls but try to down as much as you can. Celeste will follow with the blood replinisher. Ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Harry said, steeling his nerves for this. Every bone in his body cried out for him to run away but he refused.
Draco found himself with two girls burrowing into his chest as Alex sunk his fangs into Potter’s neck. Potter let out a grunt at the initial intrusion and then a gasp at what he knew would be liquid pleasure. Part of Draco wanted to hold this over Potter’s head forever, the sight of the Chosen One writhing around on a vampires lap like a little cock whore. However, he couldn’t help but admire him in that moment. Potter had guts, if nothing else and the bite was pure pleasure, no question about that.
Harry growled as his first orgasm hit, making Ginny shiver a bit. Draco smirked and squeezed Hermione a bit tighter. It was quite an arousing thing to watch, a vampire bite. Harry quaked again and moaned weakly, his skin losing its color and his body wracked with shivers from the cold. He weakly tapped Alex on the shoulder. Draco tensed, ready to sprint over and jerk Alex back but the vampire merely sipped once more deeply and pulled away, licking over the wound to seal it.
He quickly drug his fangs over his wrist and held it to Harry’s mouth. The boy drank as quickly as he could, grimacing at the bitter iron taste. He only managed to get four mouthfuls down before he pulled away and gagged slightly. Alex recited an incantation in a dialect that neither Draco or Hermione recognized and they stared in awe as a small tendril of light burst from the now healed place in Harry’s neck. Alex stopped and watched the light settle and then looked down at his arm to see another light settle there as well. He nodded, indicating he was finished.
Celeste zipped over and tipped the bottle of replisher down his throat and then stepped back, watching him warily for any sign of him passing out. Harry sat there for a moment, gathering his bearings and shakily backed off of Alex’s lap. His knees gave out and Alex sprang up and caught him before he hit the ground.
“He’ll need to rest for about half an hour and then he’ll be good as new.” He said. “I’ll just put him in his room and get Weasley. They need to be off anyhow.”
“Would you like me to take her to her room?” Severus called.
“Leave her. She’ll be pissed if you dump her in her room.” Alex called back.
Severus chuckled and then turned to the group. “Ginny, I want you to go outside and work on your second animagus form. Just concentrate on the feeling of changing and then think of how you’d like a different form. Just let your mind wander and let what happens happen.”
“Yes sir.” Ginny said softly. She’d been deeply affected by watching Harry’s bonding. Gosh she wanted him so bad now. He was beautiful.
“She’s not going to be able to think.” Celeste chuckled as the door slammed.
“She’ll be less likely to jump him out in the pasture than if I sent her to her room.” Severus drawled and caused them all to laugh merrily.
“Did I miss something?” Ron asked flatly.
“Alex feeding.” Draco stated bluntly.
“Why is she asleep?” Ron asked, noticing Melody curled up in Snape’s lap.
“She didn’t fall asleep Weasley; she passed out.” Snape drawled, enjoying the horrified look on the red head’s face.
“Why?”
“Loss of blood will do that to a person.” Alex said from behind him causing him to jump and squeak. “Celeste, if you could take him to the clinic; I’ll fetch Luna and meet you there.”
“No problem.” Celeste shrugged and grabbed Ron by the collar, dragging him to the door. They disappeared with a pop.
Alex walked over and ruffled Melody’s hair a bit. “Tell her I’m sorry.” Alex said softly and kissed her cheek. “Don’t let her go until she wakes up. She’s been sharing some truly terrible visions with Harmony lately, hasn’t slept well in weeks and when she does, she wakes up in a cold sweat. The only thing that calms her down is to hold on as tightly as you can without damaging her and talking until she comes out of it.”
“How do you know this if you haven’t spoken with her in a week?” Severus snapped.
“Just because she doesn’t remember it doesn’t mean I haven’t seen or spoken to her.” He said softly. “I know for a fact that she hasn’t slept in three solid days though.”
“It could be hours before she wakes.” Severus said in alarm.
“No. Two hours at the most.” Alex said softly. “Not even dreamless sleep lets her rest longer.”
“What’s wrong with her?” Hermione gasped.
Alex turned and gave her a sad look. “She’s dreamsharing with her sister so Harmony can get some rest. She doesn’t want it affecting the twins. The closer we get to war, the worse the visions get. They torment her. Whatever we’re going to do, we need to do it quickly. She can’t last like this.”
“What torments her the most?” Draco asked curiously.
“It’s the different shifts in vision. For every action, they dream a dozen reactions. The more we wrap up, the fewer tangents but the closer we get to war, the more lives are affected. I suspect Potter’s marriage might actually help with them. At least they can finally put the question to bed afterwards.” Alex said softly.
“Should kill me.” Melody whispered, startling them all.
“What?” Severus snapped.
“Just take it all.” She murmured.
“She’s out of it.” Alex reassured.
“I’m a whore.” She mumbled.
“You are not.” Severus growled.
“They all said so…deserved it…freaks.” She moaned and shifted.
“She’s reliving her last moments.” Alex breathed.
“She does this often?” Severus asked in alarm.
“When she’s not dreamsharing or having nightmares of her loved ones dying, this is what she dreams of.”
“Are you sure there isn’t any magic in that circle in the pasture.” Draco frowned.
“If there is, it’s more powerful than anything anyone has ever seen.” Alex said softly.
“So are we.” Draco growled and looked over at Melody, her brows furrowed in agitation. “Care to try?” He asked and looked down at Hermione.
“Anything.” Hermione nodded. Alex walked them out and disappeared to get Luna.
They trekked back to the pasture where the blood circle was. Memories came flooding back to them again, all over from the beginning and they were paralyzed, helpless to resist as they clutched hands. Time seemed to stop.
“What’s so special about this place?” Harry’s voice cut through the memories and allowed them to finally look away. They didn’t notice that tears were streaming down their faces until the wind picked up.
“This is the last place Melody and Harmony were attacked.” Hermione croaked out. “It seems that every time one of us walks past, we’re compelled to stay here and remember it all.”
“Must be some memory to keep you here for an hour.” Ginny mused and gazed at the circle. “Is that…blood?”
Draco nodded his head. “I lost count after 20.” He said distantly. “They were a huge mob just like the death eaters. It was…awful.”
“That’s a lot of muggles for each of you.” Harry breathed.
“Just three.” Hermione said as she stared at the circle. “Alex, Celeste, and Professor Snape went ballistic and destroyed them all, no magic.”
“Merlin.” Harry breathed. “What were you doing?”
“Trying to save them.” Draco said softly. “Philippe worked on Harmony. I cast every spell I could think of on Melody but it wasn’t enough.”
“But she came back.” Ginny said firmly.
“How many people can say that?” Hermione whispered.
“Three.” Harry said gravely. “What kind of magic is in this place?”
“Don’t know.” Draco shrugged. “Melody can’t see it so she doesn’t think it’s there but there’s too much of a pull here.”
“Wait.” Hermione said, an old conversation snapping up in her head. “Melody said that really powerful magic is actually harder to see. Remember when we went invisible?”
“But she could still see us.” Draco reminded her.
“What if it’s more powerful than that?” Hermione countered.
“Then not even we can get rid of it.” Draco said grimly.
“Unless.” Ginny drawled.
“Unless what Red?” Draco asked curiously.
“Well, is there a way we can combine powers like we did for Hermione’s healing? I mean, you two weren’t strong enough to do it then and Professor Snape and I leant you our magic to complete it, right?”
“Right.” Draco said. “We were too unstable and still bound.”
“Exactly.” Ginny said. “You aren’t anymore. So, what if we did the same thing? Would it be enough?”
“It’s a thought.” Hermione said. “Harry, have you learned how to lend magic yet?”
Harry scratched his head. “Yea but just between Ginny and me.”
“Well, it’s the same concept Potter. You just will it out to whoever you touch.” Draco said softly. “In this case, it would have to be us since we seem to be unable to lend much to others, or so Melody says.”
“Are you kidding? You could kill someone if you gave them your powers.” Harry scoffed. “Anyway, I suppose it’s worth a shot. What do we do?”
“I think a simple scourgify should do it.” Hermione pursed her lips. “If it’s set to a signature though, can we crack it?”
“Enough power and you can crack anything.” Draco breathed. “Let’s do it. You cast.”
“Alright.” Hermione said, finding that she could move again. She walked in front of Draco and leaned into his chest, making sure she touched part of his skin for the optimum connection. “I think light to light and dark to dark, right?”
“It would probably be the safest.” Draco agreed. “We’ll summon, and then I’ll signal to share; on my mark, you’ll release.”
It took a few minutes to concentrate enough, the memories threatening to break in and consume them. After steeling themselves, they could feel the magic flowing, crackling, and begging to be let out. It whipped around them. Out of the corner of his eye, Draco could see the bright green aura of Potter and the familiar copper one of Ginny. He gave them the signal to share. The magic almost burned them it was so strong. They could feel themselves shaking from the effort to hold it back.
“NOW!” Draco yelled and bit back a scream as Hermione release the magic into a powerful scourgify aimed specifically at the blood. She had concentrated on lifting it from the dirt first and then making it disappear. It appeared to be working at first, the particles of blood separating from the soil and swirling in a frenzy before the spell lost power and it came splashing back down. The dirt soaked it up again, only this time, it was as if it were fresh.
“Fuck.” Draco growled and fell to his knees from the drain on his energy. Hermione landed in his lap, her strength gone. He heard Potter and Ginny hit the dirt behind him. “It wasn’t enough.” He panted after a moment.
“But it almost worked.” Hermione breathed.
“More power.” Harry croaked. “It needs more power.”
“It’ll take all of us.” Ginny wheezed. “Us and Melody and Professor Snape and their mates.”
“That much magic flowing through us could kill us.” Draco frowned.
“What if we just duel casted?” Hermione pondered aloud. “They could lend their magic to Melody since she’s got the ability to control it. We’d lend it to Draco since he’s the dark to her light.”
“It might work,” Draco said softly. “But it’ll have to be tomorrow because I don’t think we’ve got enough left for tonight and Melody needs time to rest too. I bet Potter isn’t at his best either.”
“Not really.” Harry groaned. “I never realized how much losing blood takes out of you. How do you two do it all the time?”
“We never take that much.” Draco answered. “I don’t think I’d want to. It doesn’t work the same for us. It’s only for pleasure or to increase the bond.”
“How did it feel anyway?” Ginny asked “Did the bond feel different?”
Harry cocked his head and thought back. “Well, the bite was, erm, intense but when he recited that incantation, it was like a jolt went through my whole body.”
“That was the bond setting. I imagine it was instantaneous.” Draco mused. “The one I did with my godfather had to settle over 24 hours but Melody said you’d be ready by tonight.”
“About that.” Harry said slowly and looked over at Ginny. “I don’t want to cheapen it but I think it’s best if we, um, bond as soon as possible. It might actually give us the power we need to get rid of this damned circle. Why are we trying to get rid of it anyway?”
“I think it’s part of the reason for Melody’s nightmares.” Draco said softly. “I mean, I know Hermione doesn’t believe in divination or fates or anything, but I think this is an obstacle for us to overcome.”
Hermione sighed. “I think Trelawney and many other seers are a joke but how can I not believe in the fates after this?” She said, motioning to them both and then to Harry and Ginny and to the circle. “It’s like an entire bloody book written out here. I have to ask though; why did you come to that conclusion?”
“I’m not sure. When Melody started spouting all that bollocks about the muggles being right and then Alex said she’s been reliving it, I wondered if it wasn’t part of what this thing is. I mean, we’ve relived it twice now. Other people had to break us out of the trance. What if it’s a test? It will probably take all the phenoms and us to remove it. What if it’s a way to test our limits?” Draco reasoned.
“It’s a good theory.” Hermione smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
“Right. So,” Harry cut in. “I think we should bond tonight. It will also give us some time to get used to our bond and to learn more about our magic here. I just…I…it seems like a tool though.”
Ginny giggled. “Blondie and I have already gone over this Harry. It is a tool but if we’ve got it, we might as well use it.”
“You’re not upset that you won’t get your big dream wedding?” Harry asked softly.
Ginny smiled. “Nope. Besides, we’ll get another one after the war. Mum will make sure of it. Maybe we could even make it a double wedding?”
“With who?” Harry asked bewilderedly.
“With them silly.” Ginny chuckled. “I can see the Prophet headlines now: Chosen One to Wed in Dual Ceremony with Death Eater Poster Boy. Oh Rita Skeeter will have a field day!”
“Ugh, that horrible woman.” Hermione grimaced and then smiled. “I wouldn’t mind a double wedding. Draco?”
“I’m already married.” He shrugged. “The rest is just icing on the cake.”
“Ginny, are you sure you’ll be okay with this?” Harry asked softly. “I mean, Hermione and Draco’s parents were there. Yours won’t be.”
“Well, I can’t say I’m not disappointed but I know it’s for the best. Even if they agreed to this, we’d still have to obliviate them.” She said softly. “Remember, their parents were obliviated after their ceremony. I was there.”
“I forgot about that.” Harry said sadly. “Still, I want you to have everything a bride should have, a dress and a ring.”
“Well, I know between Hermione and I, we can come up with a brilliant dress. As for the ring, I don’t need jewelry to know you’ll be my husband.” Ginny chided. “Besides, they have to hide theirs.”
“We can still see it though. They can feel it. It’s a visible, tangible symbol.” Harry argued.
“You’re forgetting about the tattoos.” Draco chuckled. “Actually, I think you two will have a harder time covering yours. I’m willing to wager they’ll be green and copper.”
“There, see? We’ll have lots and lots of little tattoos to remind us every day that we’re stuck with each other.” Ginny kidded.
“Oh alright.” Harry snorted. “I guess we’d better inform everybody then. We’ve still got to get Dumbledore here.”
“Right then.” Draco said, hauling himself off the ground. “Let’s get these two married and then we are going to come back here tomorrow to kick this circles arse.”

“Come on Pot- erm, Julie! We’ve only got an hour to do this.” Draco hissed.
He did NOT want to do this but Hermione had not so subtly hinted that she’d more than appreciate it if he would help Potter procure a ring for Ginny. So, they’d swiped some of the polyjuice potion that Snape had used on them the last time they were here and now they were perusing the town in the new bodies. Luckily, America didn’t register underage apparition without a license if the person was from another country so Draco took them both to wizarding Lubbock.
This was the third jewelry shop they’d been to and hadn’t seen anything Potter liked. Draco actually couldn’t blame the bloke. Everything was either much too gaudy or so small it was insulting. They’d argued a long time over what Potter could pay since he couldn’t exactly waltz up to the bank and demand enough money to purchase a wedding band set. Finally, Draco had gone in and withdrew money from the false account his mother had set up for him. He would loan Potter the money until they returned to England so Potter could pay it back.
“What about this one?” Harry asked in a grating falsetto. He was furious that Draco had taken the man’s potion but was having a grand time aggravating him with his voice. He’d zeroed in on an understated piece. It was a simple princess cut ruby with two smaller diamonds flanking it. It wasn’t ostentatious but it wasn’t anything to sniff at either.
“I actually quite like that one.” Draco mused. “Simple yet elegant, I think she’d like it. It also comes with bands, ruby and diamond chips. It isn’t something I’d choose, but it works for you two.”
“You know, you might want to watch it.” Harry mused. “You’re starting to drop your wanker persona.”
“Stuff it scar head.” Draco growled lowly.
Harry laughed and informed the jeweler that he’d take the set.
Back at the house, Ginny and Hermione were on the front porch with one of Melody’s dresses, a modest little white cotton dress with short cap sleeves and an a-line skirt. They were shocked that she owned such a conservative dress considering some of the doozies she’d showed them. The woman had simply laughed and handed them the dress, urging them to go outside and make it their own.
They’d done a stellar job so far, lengthening the dress to Ginny’s ankle and making the sleeves into straps with little white roses on them. The bodice was fitted and dropped into a tasteful v-neck. They’d kept the original line of the dress and it looked smashing on the redhead. Hermione had grabbed a pair of her flats and changed the color to white. Then she’d taken an old necklace and transfigured it into a beautiful gold tiara. Melody had drug out an old veil out of the attic and with a few cleaning and mending spells, they managed to make it sparkle like new.
Snape walked out onto the porch and looked Ginny over. “The spell work is impressive.”
Hermione giggled. “Thank you father. Does it meet your approval?”
“Indeed.” He nodded. “Now it’s almost time for Weasley and Lovegood to return so you’d best run up and hide it away. Albus has been contacted. He will come shortly before midnight. He has agreed that the same colored binding ribbons will be used. Are you sure you want this tonight?”
“It’s our best chance.” Ginny said softly. “Will we be ready by tomorrow then?”
“You should.” Snape drawled. “I still don’t understand why you’re so worried about that blasted circle but I am intrigued all the same. I believe your bond with Potter will settle enough to do it first thing in the morning. Just…keep it down tonight. I don’t want to have to rip Weasley’s throat out.”
Ginny snorted. “I’ll beat you to it.” She bit her lip. “Is it normal to be this frightened?” She breathed.
Snape nodded. “I believe so. Just think, you avoided a messy breakdown unlike your sister.” He smirked. “I’d say you are ahead.”
“Not fair.” Hermione growled. “She and Harry are on much better terms.”
“Perhaps.” Snape quirked an eyebrow and smirked. “Hurry off now, before you have much more to answer for than a few moans in the middle of the night.”
Ginny blushed as red as her hair and ran upstairs to take her dress off for tonight.
“It isn’t polite to goad her father.” Hermione chided.
“Perhaps not, but it is rather fun.”
“Severus Snape likes fun.” Hermione mused and then shook her head. “No one would believe me if I told them.”
Snape gave her a nasty grin. “I believe that is the point daughter. Now, has your husband done his job?”
Hermione closed her eyes and concentrated on Draco. They were just paying out. “Yes. I suspect they’ll be headed back any moment. Oh, those rings are lovely.”
“Be sure to reward him well.” Snape drawled. “It can’t be easy to shop with Potter.” He twirled around in a flurry of robes and walked into the house leaving a rather red Hermione on the porch trying to keep herself from hexing him.

“I’m scared.” Ginny whispered as they snuck down the stairs. It was about two minutes until midnight. Melody had gone to the club to sing but promised she’d be there right at midnight to perform the ceremony. Harmony was going to cover for her until they were done. Now all they had to do was get out of the house without Ron seeing them and she would apparate Ginny to the spot.
“I know. You’ll be fine though. I promise.” Hermione whispered softly. “Who would know better than me?”
“You’re right. I’m being stupid.” Ginny scolded herself.
“No, you’re being human.” Hermione giggled.
“Hello you two.” Luna’s dreamy voice floated across the living room as they stepped off the last step. “Best put a holly leaf in your left shoe. It’ll ward away the molmwraths.”
“Isn’t that a character from Alice in Wonderland?” Hermione asked before she could stop herself.
“They got it from us actually. They’re horrible about giving you cold feet.” She said. “Well, goodnight and good luck.”
“Thanks Luna.” Ginny squeaked, unnerved at just how intuitive the girl was.
“No problem. You’ll be wonderful together. It’s for the best.” Luna said breezily and gave Ginny a hug before she waltzed up the stairs.
“Well, that was interesting.” Ginny gulped. “Let’s get out of here. Can’t be late, can we?”
Hermione giggled. “Little secret. The bride is never late.”
“Too true.” Ginny smiled and they walked out of the house with their arms linked.
Hermione apparated them to the correct spot the second their feet hit the dirt. Everything was already set up. Dumbledore stood in the middle of the circle with Snape, Celeste, Alex, and Melody on the four points. Harry was standing in a set of dress robes, his hair a mess and his hands curling and uncurling in nervousness. When he looked up, he smiled such a happy smile it made Hermione tear up. She took Ginny’s cloak and watched as her friends jaw dropped.
She stood with Draco a good ways away so they wouldn’t interfere and watched as Harry and Ginny kneeled in the circle. The ceremony was the same except Dumbledore graciously left out the part about a budding love and the importance of trust. Ginny cried as Harry slipped her bands onto her finger and then held out one for himself as well.
“Heart and Soul, we bind these two together forever.” Dumbledore announced softly. Hermione winced as Dumbledore cut their skin and held Draco tightly as everyone started to chant the ancient rite. Magic crackled in the air and glowed. It was beautiful. The chanting lowered to a dull murmur as Dumbledore asked if they would accept each other in marriage. They both agreed and Dumbledore raised his hands. “What the fates have joined together let nothing separate!” The light flared brightly as the couple each had a strand of hair change colors. “It’s done!” He announced.
“Um, sir, we’re still bound.” Harry stated when the chanting stopped and Ginny let out a giggle.
“So you are.” Dumbledore said, his eyes twinkling madly with amusement. “You may kiss the bride.”
Harry tentatively kissed Ginny at first and then pushed harder, the force of the bond weighing on them both. The light flared so bright it lit up the entire pasture and swirled over the couple. It knocked everyone in the circle flat on their backs, just like it had done before. Hermione and Draco were hard pressed not to fall as well. When the spell was over, they marveled at the green and copper tattoos the newly married couple was now wearing.
“Ah, most interesting indeed.” Dumbledore said merrily. “Your symbol is the eagle, a creature held most sacred to many cultures. The eagle is thought to possess the power to be both with the creator and the earth. It is a sign of both wisdom and courage, the wisdom to know when things need to change, and the courage to follow through. I think this symbolizes you both well and it is quite interesting that your symbol would be a bird as well. The Celtic knots, of course, mean love without end. You’ll find that they are similar in appearance to the Malfoy’s but not exact as is the nature of any bond.”
Harry suddenly jerked Ginny to him, as if she were the last drink of water in the desert.
“I see it is time.” Dumbledore said softly. “Alex and Severus will take you to your room. Congratulations.”
Hermione sighed as she watched the men scoop the enamored couple up and zip to the house, almost a blur they were so fast. She remembered her wedding night, the awkwardness and then the amazing feeling afterwards of their bonds settling. Ginny and Harry wouldn’t experience quite the same thing but she hoped they’d feel much more centered now.
“They’ll be fine.” Draco said as he brought his arms around her. “Just wait until they find the instructions.” He said, smothering a grin.
Hermione laughed loudly. She remembered all too well when they had discovered them, the tiny runes in the shape of arrows to point the way. It had been horribly embarrassing at first and then so hilariously funny that she’d forgotten her fears. It was a great night.
“Ah young love.” Melody sighed. “I have seriously got to figure out a way to put some silencing charms up.”
Celeste chuckled. “You won’t even be there to hear them.”
“Until I get home later.” She growled. “I’ll see you all in the morning at the circle. We’re going to get rid of it this time, I can feel it.” She apparated away with a loud pop.
“And then there were three.” Celeste mused. “Well, might as well head on back. You two try to get a few hours of sleep.” She grinned and zipped to the house.
“Well Mrs. Malfoy,” Draco hummed. “How about we recreate our honeymoon?”
“What honeymoon?” Hermione giggled.
“Why, the part with you and me and a bed of course.” Draco grinned and scooped up his giggling wife. He sprinted to the house. If he was going to have to hear Potter and Red moaning all night, he was going to cause some noises of his own.
AN: Here we are, another chapter closer. I wonder what the significance of that circle is. Hmmmm. *evil grin* So, we've gotten the last phenom couple hitched.
