Looking up as they heard someone come in, Sirius then glanced at Remus, concerned. As it was fairly late, no one usually came over this time of night. Looking around at the table, making sure that nothing was out that would give away some of what they were working on, he was pleased that all those bits were put up. Staring at the door, he waited to see who it was. This late of a visit probably meant something huge happened. That had him on edge.
Seeing Moody come in, Sirius glanced at Remus again, who looked concerned, then asked the retired Auror, “What's going on?” He assumed that if Moody was here, something major happened.
Walking over and taking a seat beside Remus, across from Sirius, he said, “I got a message from Tonks and Kingsley. They have Wormtail in custody and proved his identity. I'm supposed to pass along to you that you're to keep yourself planted right here until further notice. You're going to end up cleared. They can't say much yet, obviously, but what they were able to get across says he's trying to cut a deal to save himself from being Kissed. He's already admitted to being the one that gave up James and Lily. And he's got plenty more information. They said he's not going to give that up without a deal in place.”
Grinning hugely, Sirius looked at Remus, who was as well, then said, “Great! How long before we know something?”
“I don't know,” Moody told him honestly with a shake of his head. “Albus is using what contacts he has to get information. They are keeping this tightly under wraps, though. It's going to make plenty look bad, something Fudge can't want. We'll see. Just keep yourself inside and don't venture out for anything. We can't risk you getting caught at this point.”
Still grinning from ear to ear, Sirius nodded vigorously. “Will do. I'll keep my arse planted right where I am, no worries.”
“Any mention at all what Peter did with Harry?” Remus asked to make sure that it was out there, as it would be expected.
“Nothing there,” Moody told him with a heavy sigh. “It might be part he's not giving up. Tonks said when asked he denies having anything to do with that bit. We'll see what comes of it as time goes on. They're still looking for the other two helping him, of course, but they aren't sure where they might be. If they manage to grab hold of them, we might get somewhere about Harry. I don't know. With all we know that's going on, those three might end up singing like some very loud birds to save their own skin. It's just—we have to wait. Let the DMLE do what it does best and we'll go from there.”
“I hope they have something on Harry,” Sirius sighed, shaking his head. “At least a clue we can use to find him!”
“I think, from what I know, that's one of the big things they want to get out of him, Sirius. Let them see what they can come up with. Pettigrew will cave if he knows something. We all know he's a coward. The mere threat of being Kissed should be enough to motivate him in the right direction. If he knows something, he'll give it up. Just give it time,” Moody schooled.
“I will,” Sirius nodded. “You think I need a solicitor or something like that? At least have one in place?”
“You might want to consider that,” Moody told him seriously. “Let me put out a couple feelers to some good ones I know. I'll get you a name. Let him take it from there.”
“I'll let you do that,” Sirius told him, pleased. Oh, this was great.
Standing with a groan, Alastor said, “I'm going to get out of here. Let me see what I can find out for the two of you and put out the feelers I need to. When I know something, I'll pass it along.” Seeing the two nod, he made his way out to go meet with Albus. It was his hope the man had more information than he did.
Looking at Remus, Sirius grinned from ear to ear. “This is great!” He chuckled.
“It is!” Remus agreed, smiling himself and nodding. “We've been waiting for this for a long time. He's in the right place, Sirius. So, maybe, what we did can only help.”
“It's going to set it on fire and burn as hot as it can. The fact they caught the furry little bastard is enough to back up everything we passed on to that reporter. And the timing of this couldn't be more perfect.”
“Very true,” Sirius chuckled.
“Alright, what we'll do is this; you go try to get a hold of Harry so you can fill that lot in. I'll stay down here in case anyone else comes over. When you finish talking to that lot, come back down. If someone does find out something, not only do we need to know, but they do as well.” Remus told him firmly.
“Will do,” Sirius told him, still grinning. “Let me go fill them in and I'll be back.”
Smiling as Sirius hurried out, Remus couldn't help but be pleased. This was great! And it was perfect timing. In fact, they couldn’t have timed this better if they had tried.
Nodding at what Sirius had to say, Harry was grinning himself. This was great! He had gotten a brief message earlier about Wormtail being caught, but Sirius couldn't stick around to talk in case anyone came over. Now, though, he was getting all the details. And he loved it! “Perfect!” He said when Sirius finished.
“It is,” Sirius grinned back. “And the timing couldn't be better. That article, from what we know, is going to hit in just a couple of days. So, if the Ministry drags their feet, it's going to explode all over them and make them look even worse than they already do. That can only help as well.”
“They need taken to the cleaners over this,” Harry told him firmly. “It's crap that you had to go through this and not right. And it's all their fault.”
“Not going to argue with you there, Harry. An end is in sight, so that's what I'm holding out hope for and waiting on. Moody is going to set me up with a solicitor to make damned sure it plays out the right way. We'll see what happens from there. This is great, though.”
“It is,” Harry said, unable to stop grinning.
“We'll work with it from here. Of course, we have to wait for whatever the DMLE is doing to play out and see where that goes, but it looks like I'm in the clear, finally. Then we go from there.”
“Just be careful until then,” Harry said softly. “No sense in chancing it if you're about to get off.”
“I plan to, trust me,” Sirius assured him firmly. “Not risking it, no matter what. I sure as hell don't like staying cooped up in this house, but I'll manage as I have something to focus on. Don't worry about me, Harry. You just concentrate on your end and what else we're doing. That's enough to concern yourself with. I'll be fine.”
“Can't help it,” Harry admitted with a shrug and a bit of a sheepish grin. “I'll pass it along to Lucius and Severus, though, so they can work around you going out if something happens.”
“Good,” Sirius nodded. “For now, Remus will handle that if something comes up.” Figuring that was all that needed said about it, he asked, “How are you doing?”
“Alright,” Harry said. Then he began to talk about what they were working on when it came to school and such. “I'm doing good there and we're moving pretty quickly. That I like,” Harry admitted. Brow furrowed, he said, “Oh, yeah, there's something I need to show you.” Grabbing his wand, he cast his Patronus and said, “It's changed. We're sure it's the bond as Severus' did as well to another breed of cobra.”
Looking at his godson's Patronus, Sirius nodded slowly, “Yeah, it's got to be the bond. Your Patronus can change, obviously, and does, but I don't think you've experienced the usual things to bring that about. And if Snape's changed as well, I'll agree it's the bond. Especially if they are the same breed of snake.” Grinning, he added, “Glad you showed me because if you didn't and I saw that with no warning I'd be having a bloody heart attack!”
“We mentioned that,” Harry laughed, canceling the spell. “We were wondering about the Animagus when it comes to this. From what we read, the Animagus is linked with the Patronus. Which raises the question of whether we'll end up with a cobra of some kind or if it'll be what we originally would have had.”
“That I don't know,” Sirius told him honestly. “Let me look around a bit. That'll give me something to do while I'm cooped up here. If I can't figure it out on my own, I'll find a way to ask Minerva. She should know. Even if you can manage the transformation and you're a cobra of some kind, it's not a big deal, Harry.”
“It's not,” Harry admitted. “We were just curious. A cobra might work out better in many ways than the stag anyway. Not the least of which is that no one would ever guess that's me. That can only help with protection.”
“Very true and a damned good way to look at it,” Sirius told him firmly. “You lot are going to give this a shot then?”
“We're going to try, all three of us,” Harry told him. “Starting next week we'll be delving into it. It should be fun, actually, and give us plenty to do.”
“It can help, in plenty of ways. You know that, though,” Sirius agreed. “With as powerful as you three are, you should be able to manage. If you need help, shout. I'll give all the advice I can on it.”
“We should do fine. The books you gave us lay out what we need to do pretty well and are easily understandable.”
“Yeah, they are the best there are out there for it,” Sirius assured him. Shifting around in his chair, he wanted to ask about another topic but didn't want to make Harry uncomfortable about it.
Looking down at the bed, petting Kaliya, who had slithered over by him, Harry said, quietly, “I talked to Lucius like you suggested. Well, he started the talk.”
Pleased that Harry brought up the topic he wanted to discuss, Sirius asked, “How did it go?” He assumed it would have gone fine, especially since Harry wasn't at all uptight about anything.
“It—he made me feel a bit better,” Harry told him, glancing at the mirror. “He made it as easy as he could on me. And gave me some pretty good reassurances on the topic. I'm still having problems with it, but he helped.”
“I assumed he would. He was far better than me taking it on as he dealt with part of it.” Shaking his head, he stated once again, “It doesn't matter to those that really care about you, Harry. And it won't. If they can't accept it, it's their issue, not yours.”
“He made that real clear,” Harry told him, watching as the cobra slithered into his lap. Quietly, he added, “And that it wouldn't have mattered to mum or dad either.”
“It wouldn't. I guarantee you that,” Sirius told him firmly. “Your dad accepted Remus for just what he is, and that's far more stigmatized than being gay in our world. Your mum did too. This would have been easy for them to accept.”
Nodding to let Sirius know he heard, Harry smiled a little. “I was worried about that,” he admitted.
“Nothing at all to worry about,” Sirius assured him. “As long as you're happy with whoever it is you chose to be with and they treat you well, that's all that would have mattered to them. Same with the rest of us that really care about you.”
“Good,” Harry said with a relieved sigh. That did make him feel better and Sirius had known his parents better than Severus and Lucius did.
Changing topics, Sirius began to ask Harry about dueling. That was something he thought his godson really needed to learn. As good as Snape and Lucius were, they were perfect to teach him as well. Besides, he was sure it was something Harry liked doing and would get them off the uncomfortable topic. Here and there, he'd keep giving Harry reassurances that being gay was fine and there was nothing wrong with it until he finally accepted and grew comfortable with it. That was all, though. No sense in making a big production of something that shouldn't be.
Filling the two in on what Sirius said, Harry looked between Lucius and Severus then said, “He said to tell you that until this plays out, Remus will handle whatever. He's not going to chance going out. Better safe than sorry there.”
“Completely understandable,” Lucius told him with a dismissive wave. “ We'll deal with it accordingly. If you would, though, pass along from me when you talk to him next to tell his solicitor to take the Ministry to the cleaners over this. Not only is it deserved, as him going to jail without a trial is very much against our laws, but it'll prevent it from happening again. With what's about to cut loose in our world again, the possibility is there. If he slaps them hard enough that they sting plenty, they'll think twice about pulling something such as that again. It can only help plenty if they have to think it over before another such debacle.”
“And it may be something that helps us as well,” Severus added firmly. “Lucius and I, both, are concerned what might happen when we finally turn up. If Black slaps them hard enough and it costs them plenty of money, they won't pull such a stunt again.”
“I'll do that,” Harry told him with a firm nod. “Not something I thought of, actually, but it makes sense. Yeah, we need to protect the both of you from someone getting stupid.”
“We do,” Lucius admitted with a nod. “Severus and I are more than capable of defending ourselves and I will ensure we get the best solicitor money could buy, but the more protection in place, the more at ease I'll be.”
“I'll say something,” Harry assured them. “I'm sure Sirius wants to make this sting anyway, what with all he went through. Then there is the moronic crap that the Ministry is pulling now. I know he's plenty angry over that, especially when it comes to the bit with me. So, yeah, I imagine he wants some kind of revenge.”
“As would most,” Severus added, relaxing back in his chair and taking a sip of his drink.
“Oh yes,” Lucius snorted. “If it were me, I would be going after heads. And I would start at the top and work my way down then move to the bottom and work my way up from there. It never should have happened. If he plays it right, it won't again, either. Everyone needs that to protect all of us.”
Looking between the two, Harry asked quietly, “Any idea how we can protect you two when this finally ends? I mean, obviously, my word will be worth plenty. The same with Remus and Sirius, but there can be some heavy charges leveled, as you mentioned before.”
Shaking his head, Lucius admitted, “I don't know. We'll find something when the time comes. Until this mess looks like it's going to end, I'm not going to worry about it. From what I can see, we'll get plenty of mileage out of protecting you from both sides. That can only help. Even if our intentions weren't the best at first. How much that will help with the kidnapping, I don't know.”
“We don't have to mention that,” Harry said softly.
“We're going to have to do something. We torched the Dursleys' house,” Severus snorted. “That's arson. Add in the kidnapping and we have issues, big ones. Which means we need something in place ahead of time to handle the problems. What that is I don't know, though.”
“We have time. I'm not concerned right now,” Lucius said, looking between the two as he shifted in his chair. “When it looks like the fight is starting to wane, we'll worry about it then. If nothing else, I'll procure a solicitor and go from there. It shan't be easy, that I know, and we won't come out unscathed, but we'll find a way.”
“I'll do all I can,” Harry told them honestly. “You've both done your best to protect me. In fact, better than most have over the years. That counts plenty big.”
“And we'll make sure that's out there,” Severus assured him. “For now, though, don't dwell on it, Harry. This is an area that comes down to it's our issue to deal with. We went into the scheme knowing full well what the penalties for our actions could be. That means it's our problem to solve. And we'll find a way. Though we'll appreciate your help when the time comes, and will probably need it, we are the ones that will have to muddle our way through. It's nothing to worry about just yet.”
“I can't help it,” Harry sighed, shrugging. “Just worried about what could come of it is all. Especially with what I saw of Sirius.”
“Another very understandable thing,” Lucius assured him. “Never fear, we'll handle whatever the Ministry thinks to try and manage to slide out of it in one form or another. We'll ensure that.”
Nodding, Harry sighed then launched into the bit about the Animagus transformation. That was certainly an easier topic to take on as it wasn't something that was a pressing concern of any kind, more like just interesting. Plus, he was anxious to give it a try and excited to see if he could succeed at it.
With a groan, Lucius sat up on the edge of his bed and rubbed a trembling hand over his sweaty face. Hearing Nagini ask him if he was alright, he assured his girl that he was just fine. Except that he wasn't. He was far from fine. No, this wasn't another one of those nightmares that tended to plague him from time to time, it was something far more disturbing; another sexual dream about Harry. He'd had more than one of these since Harry's growth spurt and berated himself each time he did. This one was even more vivid. That he assumed came from the talk with Harry about the young man being gay. It almost seemed to fuel the fire of them.
Shaking his head, he looked down at the floor and tried to even out his breathing. Along with that, he desperately tried to will away his erection. No, he couldn't handle the sexual thoughts about Harry. Though Harry now had the body of a full grown adult, a very handsome one at that, the fact remained that he was still the same age as his son! This—he couldn't allow this to continue.
Shutting his eyes, he slumped slightly, mentally berating himself over the dream. With that, to add to the guilt and make his erection die faster, he envisioned Severus glaring at him. He was damned sure the man wouldn't be at all happy to learn he was dreaming about Harry this way. Hell, he wasn't happy about it, so he needed something stronger to drive the point home. It helped, it really did, as his erection finally started to wilt. Shaking his head, he gave himself a mental swat over it. He needed to stop this, all there was to it. If he didn't, it would start affecting him in other ways. That he didn't need either, that's for damned sure.
Sighing, he scrubbed his hands through his hair and groaned. He got where it was coming from, he really did. Harry was now very handsome. His looks coupled with those green eyes of his made for a wonderful package. Yes, he was overly thin at the moment, but that wasn't too bad. Tall, lanky, handsome, with a deep voice—yes, Harry was most assuredly his 'type'. And that added to the not good part he mentally mentioned before. There was also the way Harry smelled. One usually didn't notice that unless they were close to someone, but he had started to. When Harry had finished playing Quidditch or had baked in the sun for a while, he had this wonderfully musky smell on him that Lucius found quite enticing. In fact, it was something he adored more than any high priced cologne he had ever smelled. And it was something arousing. When outside by the pool and Harry would lay and sleep with his head on his thigh, that smell seemed to surround and stick with him for hours afterwards, something he loved. Until something like this happened, that was.
Groaning, he didn't know what to do about this. He had to keep it under wraps, of course, so that no one knew. There was also the fact that he had to keep it from affecting what was going on with Harry as well. It wouldn't do to pull back from the man because he wouldn't be able to explain why that was. No, he just had to exert some self control. That's all there was to it. And press on like normal. Firmly, he told himself that the attraction would wane. That happened to him before when it came to sexual attractions. It just meant that he had to ride it out, act like normal and move on. That he could do, as he had done so in the past.
Firm in that thought, vowing to remind himself of it every time he looked at Harry with appreciation, he laid back down. Pulling the comfortable silk sheets over him, he curled back up with a soft sigh. As he was tired, it didn't take him long to start drifting off to sleep once more. However, as he did, those dreams started up again. Despite what he might say when awake, when asleep he adored them and relished what they showed. If awake, that would horrify him, but asleep he went with it, enjoying every minute of what played out.
