“Do you, Hermione Jean Granger, take Draco Abraxus Malfoy to be your husband, to love, honor, and respect him, to stand by his side through joy and despair, as long as you both shall live?”
Hermione gazed into the soft grey eyes of the one person she’d never guessed she’d marry. He was smiling nervously, so different than his normal smirk, an expression just for her. He loved her.
“I do.”
“And do you, Draco Abraxus Malfoy, take Hermione Jean Granger to be your wife, to love, honor, and respect her, to stand by her side through joy and despair, as long as you both shall live?”
Draco took in the vision of his future wife. She was an angel with caramel eyes that seemed to caress him. She was going to give him a daughter… a family… a life he’d always dreamed of. She loved him.
“I do.”
The couple looked down at their left arms bound in silver and gold chords. They’d flinched when Dumbledore revealed their inner arms. Draco didn’t want his Mark anywhere near the scar that Hermione had earned as a result of it. Hermione hadn’t wanted anyone to see her scar and was horrified to learn that her glamour had faded. Dumbledore forged on, making a beautiful speech about love conquering all barriers, both seen and unseen, that left everyone in tears.
Now they were about to seal the binding. Before Dumbledore could speak the words, a gust of wind swirled around the room. A little girl’s giggle filled the air, followed by a bright light. The couple squinted, astonished to see the little auburn haired girl from the ROR’s memories.
“Magdalene?” Hermione and Draco whispered at the same time.
“That’s me!” The girl squealed. “Mummy and father say wait.”
Before they could ask why, another light so bright they had to close their eyes appeared. When it finally dimmed, they opened their eyes. They were stuck between shock and awe. The four founders of Hogwarts were there, hovering around them.
“You’ve done it,” Helga Hufflepuff exclaimed. “You’ve overcome prejudice and hatred.”
“You did what I couldn’t,” Salazar Slytherin said reverently.
“Don’t make our mistakes,” Godric Gryffindor warned.
“And share your love with the world,” Rowena Ravenclaw finished.
“You have our blessings,” the founders spoke together before they blinked out.
Hermione and Draco looked down in shock when their binding chords heated up and melted into their arms. They weren’t supposed to do that! In their place, a bracelet of runes circled their wrist. The rest of the room was frozen, unable to believe what they’d just seen. The founders had given their blessings!
“A most blessed day indeed,” Dumbledore said hoarsely. “The room has provided a blood binding cup. Did you both want to undertake that?”
“No,” Draco said quickly. “I’ll not tie her to me indefinitely.”
“Why not?” Hermione growled. “You want to leave me?”
“Of course not,” Draco snapped. “But if you wanted to leave me, I want to give you that choice. The blood bind was a way to tether an unruly spouse. The lack of one shows more trust.”
Hermione mulled it over a moment. “But doesn’t it give you a deeper bond.”
Draco sighed and placed his forehead on hers. “I think were bound as deeply as we could possibly be love. But I thought long and hard about this. If I were to die, I don’t want you to die too. The blood bond would ensure that because we couldn’t live without each other. I wouldn’t force that on anyone.”
His heartfelt explanation brought tears to her eyes. He really loved her… so much that he’d thought about being with her until death. She nodded, unable to speak anymore. He gave her a blinding smile.
“Well then,” Dumbledore said. “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
Draco didn’t have to be asked twice. He brought a hand around to the back of her head and pulled her in for a deep kiss. The meeting of their lips sent sparks through their bodies. It felt like a stinging hex zinged through them and their wrists tingled. It was… perfect. He pulled back to grin at her.
“May I introduce Mr. and Mrs. Draco Malfoy.”
The room broke out in applause. Even Ron clapped, though Hermione could tell that he was warring with himself. She did appreciate the effort. She was torn in that moment. On one hand, she wanted to rip Draco’s clothes off and have her wicked way with him right then. On the other, she wanted to stick around and see how Snape handled Venus’s introduction.
“We can say for a few minutes,” Draco whispered in her ear. “I’m quite curious myself… and we have the rest of our lives to… catch up.”
Hermione blushed bright red but couldn’t help but giggle. Draco was such a cad... and all hers. She squealed at the thought and kissed him again, joy consuming her. He was hers! It was surreal, marrying her one time enemy… the father of her child. Her hand reflexively covered her stomach. Gosh she wasn’t ready for this yet.
Draco’s hand covered hers. “We’re in this together Granger.”
“Malfoy,” Hermione corrected. “I’m a Malfoy now.”
Draco grinned. “That you are.”
Snape cleared his throat as he walked up. “I would like to offer my congratulations.”
“Thank you, Sir,” Hermione said. “For everything.”
Snape gave her a very thin smile, a gesture so odd on his dour face. “It is I who should thank you both. You’ve given me the most precious thing in my life.”
“I’m pretty sure you created that all by yourself,” Draco said with a smirk.
Snape wore one to match. “Perhaps I should say returned.”
“What now, Sir?” Hermione asked.
Snape frowned. “I’m still not sure where to start.”
Hermione’s eyes sought out Harry, who was introducing himself to Venus. They looked rather stiff together and she couldn’t help but smile at their resemblance. No, she thought Harry might freak out at first, but he’d embrace his sister with open arms.
“Allow me?” She asked.
“To what?” Snape asked.
“To break it to them? It’s the least I can do. You did help us both.”
Snape nodded curtly. “That would be… acceptable.”
Hermione grinned. Same old Snape. She grabbed Draco’s hand and made a beeline towards the unsuspecting siblings. She graciously accepted well wishes from her friends on the way but would not be strayed. She could hear Draco snickering at her determination and wondered if he would be amenable to a spanking, the arrogant prat.
“Harry!” Hermione called.
Venus sprang backwards like she’d been shot and Hermione felt a pang of regret. The poor girl had been on the run for two and a half years. She had to have been jumpy. She started to return to her father but Hermione was having none of it.
“No Venus, please stay. I believe there is much to discuss.”
Venus looked terrified. “Oh, but father-“
“Has agreed to let me explain,” Hermione interrupted.
Venus shook her head. “Oh father.”
Hermione stifled a chuckle. “Let’s get to it then. I take it you’ve met.” The siblings nodded. “Well then, I suppose it’s better to just come out and say it then. Harry, you have blood related family.”
Harry frowned. “Well, I suppose the Dursleys are my family, as much as they hate me. Petunia is my mum’s sister, right?”
Venus gasped. Hermione patted her shoulder in sympathy. She would let Snape explain that one.
“Harry.” Hermione grabbed his shoulders so she’d have his attention. “You have more family… a sister.”
Harry frowned. “What are you on about?”
Hermione sighed. “Before your mum started dating your father, she had a daughter.”
“How do you know that?” Harry demanded.
Hermione gulped. “You asked what happened in this room. It showed us different events that took place in here. This is where your sister was born.”
Harry frowned. “You saw it.”
Hermione nodded. “It was heartbreaking. They had to give her to someone else to raise because they were both too young to take care of her. Voldemort marked your mum for death and her father wanted to keep her safe so your sister stayed hidden… and remained that way… until now.”
“Hermione,” Harry said slowly, trying to process everything. “Who is her father?”
Hermione took a deep breath. “It was more than just friendship with your mum Harry.”
Harry went pale. “S-snape?”
Hermione nodded and grabbed a shaking Venus’s hand. “Harry, I’d like you to meet your half-sister, Venus Calla Snape.”
