‘Hurt my son?’
Hermione stared in wide-eyed shock.
Draco’s mother stopped the attack. When--where--how??!!
He cut her, and blood splattered.
Draco was clinging to her, making it impossible for her to flee, even if she had the injury.
‘Take them and go!’ She hissed at the terrified house elf.
Narcissa turned back to her husband.
She held a hand to her breast, where he had cut her.
I should have let them die.
But he was her child, and she could sense when he was in mortal danger. It was difficult to ignore.
So she came here, expecting many things, but not this.
Her eyes narrowed in disgust, ‘I see why you knew so much…’ If Draco was in danger of rotting, her husband was practically decayed.
The scent was almost too much to bear.
She took a step back, breathing heavily.
‘I will kill you…’
She glanced beyond him, to the still, unmoving form.
She was crafty and fast, ‘Your female is still. Does she still live? Or have you slain her twice?’
Narcissa felt like cackling. She hoped the little slut was dead.
She could not recognize her. She was too covered in blood. But the scent of death was on her.
Lucius turned, and Narcissa took the opportunity to disappear.
Once home, she immediately began to bark out orders.
‘Medicine, at once. A new gown and—‘ she glanced at her elf, and saw that Draco was now alert and squeezing the girl, ‘—eject these things from home. Fetch me some wine.’
Narcissa headed for her sitting room.
She sat down, placed her head in her hands, and did her best to calm her fiercly pounding her.
She could have died. In fact, she would have died. It was amazing that she stil breathed.
Lucius…his soul was fragmented. Rotted. She’d never felt the like of it before.
She cringed at the memory.
Her elf carefully left her requested items before fleeing.
Stupid. So stupid.
She was finished. This time was absolutely the last time she did anything for any man ever again—instinct be damned. She was exhausted.
Carefully she applied an ointment to her wound.
Her hand shook the entire time.
She barely managed to finish before burying her face in her hands.

Hi everyone, just wanted to thank everyone for your reviews. They keep me writing!
Things are winding down. I expect there to be only a few chapters left--two, maybe four at most. I was wondering what you all thought up to this point. the story has had so many hits in so few days [seriously, you guys are making me feel really good] so everyone, give some comments. i don't know if i am going to pick up on an older story i began as lady jane or do a lucius/ginny prequel or if i might do something different....i may do something different and come back to lucius ginny. so much veela! tell me what you think!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
