Chapter 42: The Crazy Morning After...
HP
Harry was floating. Everything around and inside of him was warm and the bed beneath him soft. He sighed blissfully and shifted a little, his back pressing more firmly against the strong chest of whichever mate was laying behind him currently.
His movements must have awoken the other vampire, because warm hands began to wander over his body, stroking along his sides, over his thighs and wakening the other dominant as well, who immediately joined in on the leisurely activity that was all about tenderness and care.
He smiled in pure bliss as those four hands wandered inwards, over his chest and nipples, down his torso until they reached his center where the fragile fluttering was residing.
Harry's eyes snapped wide open and with one jump he was out of the bed and across the room.
"Don't touch me!" he snarled, his arms curling protectively around his middle. He could feel how the precious fluttering was wavering from the light pressure that single touch had delivered and was threatening to dislodge and then… and then…
He wasn't quite sure what would happen then, but he knew it would be devastating. He would be devastated.
His eyes, which had scanned the bedroom in panic, snapped over to the bed as they caught movement from there. Lucius and Draco were sitting up now, clear confusion written on their faces, but somehow it didn't quite sink in. All he could think about was that he couldn't allow them near him.
"Harry, what the... " Draco started muttering, and Lucius added:
"Come back to bed, it is far too early to be up on New Year's morning. School is starting back up soon, we should take advantage of situations like these," his older mate said, a suggestive undertone in his voice, but all it managed was to make Harry take a few steps further away, until he was actually pressed against the wall.
This however, finally managed to make Lucius and Draco realize that something wasn't quite right. "Harry, is everything alright?" Draco asked and pushed their thick comforter to the side before standing up.
Harry watched, panic growing even stronger inside of him, as Lucius followed his son's lead, and the two blondes drew slowly closer.
"Harry, are you not feeling well?" the older aristocrat asked; now close enough that he would be able to touch him if he only stretched out his arm.
Feeling trapped, Harry shifted, his eyes scanning the room frantically. He knew he needed to get away from his mates. They were too strong, too careless and rough with their touches and then… and then… he didn't know what either, but he needed to get somewhere safe.
Suddenly a soft, perfectly manicured finger brushed against his skin and Harry's body finally came out of its shocked paralyzed stance.
Faster than he had ever moved, even as a vampire, he ducked beneath the hand, stepped to the right, and then dashed off towards the door.
Behind him Draco was shouting something and Lucius cursed, but he didn't listen to the words. He needed to get away; he needed to find a hiding place, a safe haven. But where to go?
Without making the decision consciously, his feet carried him to the door that would lead him directly into his father's living room and ran down the stairs. He practically fell through the door and instantly slammed it shut behind him; however, he could hear his mates' running footsteps on the other side. Pressing his hands against the sturdy wooden door in panic, his magic reacted instantly, and as Lucius and Draco slammed against it only a second later, the door wouldn't budge an inch.
Letting out a sigh of relief, he slid down onto the floor and slumped against the smooth surface, his eyes closing as the stress left his body as quickly as it had come.
However, his reprieve only lasted a few seconds as a voice could suddenly be heard:
"Harry, what are you doing here so early? Did something… where are your clothes?"
He flinched in surprise, his eyes snapping wide open once more, but he calmed down as soon as they landed on the thin figure of his father, who was pulling a black dressing gown over his nightshirt.
He saw the moment his father's eyes darkened.
"Harry, have your mates tried anything you did not want to do? And don't lie to me," Severus asked, his voice just as dark as his stare.
Still, it took Harry's muddled brain a moment to realize what his father was implying, however, he didn't quite know what to answer. In a sense, they had. They had tried to touch him, and he couldn't let that happen right now, but they hadn't done anything like Severus was suggesting, and a tiny part of his mind was also telling him that his behavior hadn't been quite normal, but that part was quickly overwhelmed by the rest of his thoughts again.
"They tried… they tried…" he started, then realized how that would sound and shook his head. "I mean, they didn't. Not something like that. But I couldn't allow them... "

Severus stared at his son, trying to understand him. Something had clearly happened to distress the boy, but what exactly, he couldn't even begin to fathom.
He knew what it looked like, with Harry sitting distraught and naked in his living room, but his mind and heart were telling him that that wasn't it. No, Harry, Lucius and Draco were soulmates. His friend and godson would never be able to do something so horrible to his son. Soulmates were two, or in this case three, parts of an entity split up into three bodies; it would be like injuring oneself.
But this realization didn't help him any to get closer to find out what had happened.
Suddenly his mind kicked back in and he realized that in fact, his son was sitting on his cold dungeon living room floor, naked.
"Let us get you up first," he said, taking a step forward, but froze as soon as Harry tried to press even further against the door behind him and whispered: "Please don't."
Making up his mind quickly, he unfastened his nightgown and held it out, careful to not step any closer at the same time. "I promise you I will not come closer, but pull this on and get up from the floor. You can choose if you want to sit down on the couch or lie down in my bed."
To his relief Harry only hesitated for a split second, before reaching out for the gown and letting his eyes wander through the room. He saw them trace over the open door that led into his bedroom and then further to the sofa, where they lingered on Lily's blanket.
His son didn't say anything as he stood up and made his way over to the couch, where he pulled the blanket from where it rested folded over one armrest and pulled it around his lithe body, as if trying to hide in the folds of fabric.
Only when his son seemed to relax slightly did he dare to move, and walked over to the armchair that stood across the sofa, safely separated from Harry by the coffee table.
"Harry, could you maybe try and explain to me what happened? I take it Lucius and Draco did not hurt you in any way?" He asked carefully, not wanting to place words into his son's mouth, but also not wishing to distress him further by accusing his dominants.
Fortunately it seemed to work. Harry shifted a little, but didn't grow agitated again.
"No, they didn't. But I can't really tell… something bad will happen if they touch me."
Frowning, Severus leaned back in his armchair, trying to figure out what 'something bad' could be. Truthfully, it sounded more like one of Sybil Trelawney's vague predictions than anything Harry would normally say.
"Do you mean an injury will get worse if they touch you wrongly?" He therefore asked, even though he didn't smell any blood. The question in fact didn't even make much sense, considering that they were vampires and would heal instantly, even if their heads were cut off. So maybe an illness? Not much was known about their race and he hadn't gained much knowledge since he had been turned, due to the lack of contact to any vampires who were more experienced than himself, his son, Lucius or Draco. Therefore it was possible that unknown vampire illnesses existed.
"Are you hurting somewhere? Your head? An arm or maybe your stomach?"
Harry only shook his head.
"Do you feel ill or unwell in any other kind of way?" he therefore asked.
"No, not as long as no one tries to touch me… and I am with you," the last part was added barely audible, but it warmed Severus' heart to know that Harry felt so safe with him. Even safer than with his mates, at least, right now.
His pleasant expression turned into a frown however. This wasn't helping.
"Harry, can you try and tell me what you mean by 'something bad will happen?' " he tried another approach. He watched his son struggle for words, and pondered if maybe he should check for spell damage, but then the little raven began to speak again.
"I can't really tell… there is this feeling…" he began, his smooth forehead wrinkling into a concentrated expression.
Unfortunately their discussion came to an abrupt end as his front door flew open and two distressed blondes marched in.
His son was instantly on his feet again and leaping behind his sofa, where, Severus was sure of, he would be hiding under the patchwork blanket he had taken along.
"Severus, ..." he heard his old friend begin to demand, but he interrupted him furiously: "Lucius, Draco, have your brains vanished overnight?"
Two simultaneous sneers were his response. "Or do you not believe your mate is safe with me?"
This time his godson began to open his mouth, but once again he left no time to be interrupted.
"Harry is clearly distressed, even you two self-absorbed prats must have noticed that, and this distress clearly has something to do with you, so pray tell, what made you believe it would be a good idea to chase after him like you were doing?"
His eyes narrowed threateningly, unfortunately, Malfoy's were not known to back down easily.
"He is our mate Severus. We have a right to see and help him," Lucius sneered back.
"You only have a right to see and help him if that is what he wants, and right now it isn't," Severus replied. He would not back down, not when his son clearly needed him.
"And how do you know whether he wishes to see us or not?" Draco sneered, clearly not convinced.
Rolling his eyes, Severus called: "Harry, do you want to see your mates?"
There was a moment of strained silence, in which he could almost feel his son shrinking even more into himself, before a timid voice called: "Please, just leave me alone. You don't understand…"
A frown appeared on the other two dominants faces, and finally Draco asked: "What do we not understand?"
"That," Severus huffed, the annoyance at having been interrupted coming back "was what I was trying to find out when you two so rudely invaded my private quarters."
He truly felt like just kicking the two blondes out, unfortunately he knew Lucius and Draco too well, and caught the hint of worry in their carefully guarded eyes. Sighing, he leaned against the armchair he had previously occupied and said:
"This is not about you, it is in fact not about any of us, but as far as I could gather, he is not injured nor in any pain. If anything, it seems to be more of a metal issue. I was about to check for spell damage."
"Spell damage? But how could he have been cursed between yesterday evening and this morning? If you are right, then we should call an experienced healer. Spell damage is a wide and complicated field," Lucius frowned.
Severus nodded, however, his father's words must have made Draco realize something, because his pupils widened and he asked: "Could it be an aftereffect of the attack on our bond? After all, Ginevra attacked him directly."
"Could be a possibility," Severus mused, thinking about it. "As a submissive he is the center of your mating bond. But why should he only begin to feel the aftereffects now?"
Lucius and Draco shook their heads, but before they could continue, something like an affronted hissing sound came from where Harry was hiding.
Stepping closer, he glanced over the backrest, only to see Nagini curling around her master protectively, hissing all the while. The little bat was there as well, making himself comfortable in the nest of unruly hair of his son.
Harry stared back at him, but apparently was comfortable with his two familiars. How, however, anybody could be more comfortable with a gigantic snake than with his two caring mates, the Potions Master wasn't quite sure.
"What is your snake muttering about?" He asked, hoping against hope that the familiar bond might have enabled the reptile to sense something about her master.
Harry shrugged. "She says that we don't need a doctor and that the bond just needs to strengthen…" he began, just when the snake hissed again.
"And?" Severus asked pointedly, and watched as his son blushed slightly, before answering: "... and that males are stupid."
An irritated sound came from the direction of his son's mates, but Severus didn't comment on it. Instead, he turned back around and said: "It seems Draco was right with his assumption. So if you two could leave now so that Harry can finally get the peace his body needs to repair the damage." He added, relieved that the matter had been cleared somewhat.
To his annoyance the two blondes only exchanged a look before going over to the sofa and sitting down. Their spoiled behinds had not even touched the couch properly, when a black mop of hair peeked out from behind it, green eyes once again wide and distressed.
"You two better leave now before I call the Headmaster to activate the school wards that will expel unwelcome visitors from my quarters. And you Harry, just stay put, I will deal with these overprotective, unreasonable…" he growled and bared his fangs at the two Malfoy's.
"I don't see what his problem is. We are not touching him, we are respecting his wishes," Draco pointed out.
"Clearly the problem is your mere presence. So out. Now!" He snapped, the vein on his left temple beginning to throb.
"Draco is definitely right..." Lucius began, but Severus had had enough.
"I am warning you Lucius, if you and your son do not start moving now, I will call for reinforcements!"
"We will promise…"
Severus patience snapped and he exclaimed: ""Expecto Patronum!" His silvery doe broke out from his wand and instantly cantered through the ceiling.

Albus Dumbledore leaned back in his chair and sipped from the cup of hot lemon tea one of the House Elves had just served him and the two men across from him.
"So, my boys, how is Grimmauld Place doing?" He asked with a joyful twinkle in his eyes. Things could hardly be better than they were right now. His favorite student had found his soulmates and was doing an excellent job at leading the Order and training the next generation of protectors. For once he had no dark wizard teaching his Defense classes (or at least none who wished to kill Harry), and New Year's Eve had been one of the best he had ever celebrated.
"It is getting cleaner by the day. Especially now that Kreacher is actually helping," Remus smiled and sipped on his own cuppa.
"Can't believe that he is kissing Malfoy's shoes like that," Sirius muttered darkly, reaching out for one of the chocolate biscuits that lay beautifully arranged on a silver platter.
"You will not be able to change him anymore. Just be glad that he is finally listening to someone. A House Elf who dislikes his own master can be a dangerous thing," he warned the wizard, but the animagus only huffed.
"Sirius," Remus began warningly. "Albus is right, you know that, and besides, the Malfoy's turned out not as bad as we had all thought."
"I know, it just irks me that all he needed to do was say one word and that thing was groveling in front of him, doing his bidding," Sirius replied sulkily, making Albus chuckle lightly.
He knew how hard it was for Sirius to accept the many changes that were occurring. The animagus had never been good with accepting new points of view, but the years he had missed due to his imprisonment had only strengthened the trait.
For Sirius, Harry had always been that little boy he had known before the Potters had been attacked. For thirteen years the memory of that little boy had helped the wizard to survive, but when Sirius had finally seen his godson again, he had been a teenager already.
"Maybe next year we can celebrate New Year at Grimmauld Place. Let the place know some lightheartedness," he hummed, wishing to distract himself from his dark thoughts. It was the first of January, he could worry again tomorrow.
Remus sighed. "I can understand that it must be frustrating for you Padfoot, but at least Kreacher isn't listening to some random stranger, but Harry's mates. They are family and they do love him."
"I know, I know, I realize that!" Sirius snapped, sounding only slightly less grumpy, making the werewolf sigh again.
"So, what is it then? If you finally realize at least that much?" He asked in a tone of voice that was stuck somewhere between being exasperated and teasing. Because after so many years being first best friends, and now becoming lovers with the animagus, he knew that it wasn't worth getting really upset.
"I just wish that he could have gotten a nicer love!"
"A nicer love interest?" He echoed now, truly incredulous, and even Albus had to admit to himself that he couldn't quite follow.
"Yes, a nicer love interest! Like in those cheesy romance novels. Where it is all about caring for the other, and less about lust. What if Harry really gets fat one day? I mean, have you heard them talking yesterday?"
Remus wanted to groan, but he didn't, because as crazy as it sounded, he could hear that his lover was truly worried about their godson. So instead he took a calming breath of air, and tried to figure out how to explain the whole situation best.
"Sirius, you know they have an image to uphold," he began, but only got a snort in return.
"Or at least as Malfoy's, they will think so. But they truly love Harry; I can assure you of that. Believe me; I know how it feels to have found ones soulmate. And besides, we don't know how they are acting in private. Maybe it's that we just don't see those cheesy moments. You know, you could just ask Harry. I am sure he would tell you."
At this, Sirius suddenly flushed scarlet and Remus rolled his eyes. Really, would the man never grow up?
However, their chat was interrupted, when suddenly a silvery doe burst through the floor and Albus had the feeling that his wish would not be granted.
"Isn't that Severus'?" Remus asked in surprise, but Albus only gave a quick nod as he pulled out his wand and released the Potions Master's message.
"Albus, Harry and I need your help with a small matter of inconvenience. We are down in my quarters."
"Sorry my boys, but I believe I have to take care of this," Albus excused himself, the merry mood all but leaving him. It was rare for Severus to ask for help, and if he did so, it usually meant that it was serious. So he quickly got up, and all Sirius and Remus could do was watch as he vanished in a swirl of brightly colored robes and green flames.

"Finally!" Severus exclaimed only two minutes later as his hearth erupted into bright green flames and the Headmaster stepped out in a flurry of yellow and blue robes. For the past few minutes he had glared daggers at his son's mates, but of course, infuriating as all Malfoy's tended to be, they had just ignored him.
If it hadn't meant leaving Harry alone in his fearful state, and he wouldn't have been outnumbered, he would have been tempted to throw the two blondes out himself, but as it was, one look at Harry was enough to realize that the little raven would bolt if he moved as much as an inch from where he sat on the sofa, creating a protective barrier between him and his two dominants.
"Severus, what seems to be the problem?" Dumbledore asked, dusting off his bright robes.
However, before he could answer, Draco already spoke up: "Severus does not want to allow us near our mate."
Suppressing the urge to bark at his godson, Severus turned back to Albus, explaining as calmly as possible:
"Harry didn't feel well this morning and came to me for some peace and quiet," he answered pointedly.
The Headmaster's forehead wrinkled in a mixture of worry and confusion, but Severus knew that the man would not openly doubt him, not after the many years they had worked side by side to defeat and undermine the Dark Lord.
"Where is he now, my boys?" the old wizard diplomatically asked all of them, his bright blue eyes searching.
"Behind the couch," he merely replied, regretting it a moment later when Dumbledore stepped closer and a frightened whimper could be heard from the corner. However, Harry's distressed cry at least did the trick.
"Whatever the reason behind young Harry's distress is, I think it will be for the best to follow his wishes for the time being at least," the old wizard said after a moment of deep contemplation.
"Headmaster," Lucius spoke up, and Severus could see how much effort it cost the other vampire to stay polite. His friend had always found the ancient wizard meddlesome at best.
"With all due respect, this behavior is not normal, and as Harry's mates, it is Draco's and my duty to ensure that he is not hurt and gets the best help available."
"Well, as I see it Lucius, you will be assisting in his well being by leaving," Dumbledore replied with a kind smile, not bothered by the blonde's argument in the least. "Severus seems to calm him down, maybe if we give the two some time and space, he will be able to examine Harry, and afterwards we can all take more definite actions to help him."
"He should not run to his father when he has us," Draco growled. Despite all his effort, he always had been more hot-headed than his father, taking more after the Black side in that regard than the Malfoy's. Of course, it was still nothing in comparison to other teenagers Draco's age. Still, Severus always found it amusing to see those subtle differences between the two so similar-looking blondes.
"I believe Harry is merely twelve years old, therefore he still has a right to run to his father. I know it is mainly my fault for having brought him to Hogwarts too early, and Voldemort's for having cursed your father, but Harry should not be the one suffering under those circumstances."
"Are you implying we are making Harry suffer?" Lucius asked coldly, making Severus wince inwardly, however, not as much as with what Dumbledore was answering next:
"Definitely not purposefully. But by refusing to respect his wishes it is what you are inadvertently causing him."
Within seconds Lucius and Draco had gotten to their feet, growling threateningly. Albus was still smiling his infuriating smile, but Severus could see with his posture that the man was ready to defend Harry at the slightest movement from the two dominants.
However, before the charged situation could spiral out of hand, a loud bang was heard and Sirius Black, closely followed by his pet Werewolf stormed inside.
"You!" he barked "What have you done to my godson? I knew I should never have started to trust you with him!"
The growls from Draco and Lucius grew louder, but Severus had had enough. Before either of them could start a huge brawl in his living room, he had pulled out his wand and was snarling:
"Out! Get out! Harry doesn't need your misplaced protectiveness and you," he added in a hiss, swirling around to face the Headmaster "I called you here to help, not to make it even worse! So either you finally do what you were supposed to do in the beginning of this unnecessary argument, or I will use all means available to resolve the situation myself, and I can promise you, neither of us wants that!"
However, before he could take action, Harry was dashing out of his hiding place and towards the door. Letting out a roar of frustration and anger, Severus ignored Black's shout of "Harry, where are you going!" and stepped in between his son and his two mates, who wanted to rush after the little raven. He didn't want Harry to vanish into the castle were it would be difficult to find him, but he also wouldn't let those two blonde morons distress him even further.
Fortunately, before Harry could get far, he collided with his huge familiar, who instantly wrapped her lower body around her small master and began hissing. They all held their breath as the snake's large head whipped around to glare at all of them, but instead of attacking, she only flicked her tongue out, tasting the air, before she slithered over to where Harry had hidden earlier and deposited him there again.
Unfortunately, that was where the good part of the situation ended, as the gigantic reptile rose high into the air, hissing at them threateningly.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw Dumbledore stepping in front of the small group who stood frozen and unwelcome in his living room.
"Gentlemen," the Headmaster broke the shocked silence "I think if nothing else, this should be our clue to leave," with a flick of his wand he opened Severus' front door again and began to shoo the two Gryffindors out.
"At least someone is seeing reason," Draco huffed with a satisfied look at the two older men, but only until Nagini shot forward. The two aristocrats looked torn between the wish to flee from the frightening reptile and staying close to their mate. Sighing, Severus took pity on them and said: "Lucius, Draco, go for now. I will come to you as soon as I have talked with Harry and found out more. Not only you have his best interest at heart." And finally, after a long moment, the two Malfoy's nodded simultaneously before they turned on their heels and left his quarters.
"We will be waiting for you in the Founders Quarters," Lucius said in way of parting, and the door shut behind them.

Severus sighed as the green flames in his hearth died down as the last person left his quarters. Although, from all the unwanted guests, Albus had by far been the most pleasant. He pinched the back of his nose to stop the twitching of the muscles there, something that always happened when he got especially agitated; be it annoyed or angry. In the background he could hear hissing, but it sounded rather soft and therefore he was not worried. Of course, with a bonded familiar there was never a reason to worry for its master. Maybe, she would even be able to make some sense out of his son; after all, the two were able to communicate. The reptile was once again curled around him, so he sat down on the armrest of his sofa, from where he could see Harry, and vice versa.
"Our guests have finally left and have promised to not come back until you are ready," he said to begin their conversation. However, his son merely nodded, his hands clenching nervously where they rested on black and green scales.
"Will you come out of the corner if I promise to not come near you?" he asked, realizing that too much consideration would get him nowhere.
Harry looked down at his hands for a moment, before scared green eyes finally met his. "Later… maybe…"
Suppressing a sigh, Severus nodded; he had thought as much, but it was still disappointing.
"You said earlier," he tried another approach, "that Nagini mentioned your bond needs to strengthen again. Did she mention anything else?"
Harry shook his head again. "Only... " he blushed and stopped speaking, but it only served to make Severus curious. "Anything might be of help at this point." His son fidgeted a little, but finally mumbled: "She says that the stupid males will never understand us… females…"
Severus had to agree that this didn't sound helpful in the least, but he wouldn't mention it. Sighing again, he stood up. "I will go into my Potions Lab for now. Try to get some rest, and if you need anything, or even if you just want some company, just call," he said, hoping that maybe some rest and quiet might calm his son down.

Draco glared at the door that had closed behind him. He was frustrated, more than he ever had been in his life so far. Despite the company, the evening before had been pleasant, not to mention its enjoyable end. He was finally gaining confidence in his mating bond, mostly thanks to his father, who had started to treat him as an equal ever since he had given him the second Lordship Ring. Although Harry was still a bit shy, he could see that his little submissive tried his best to adjust to the change from being rivals to being mates. He truly couldn't complain, not when he was at fault for the time it took the Gryffindor to become fully comfortable around him.
And then morning had come and everything had gone to hell. He couldn't even say what or when it had gone wrong, or why Harry was suddenly so afraid of them. To him, it made no sense, but of one thing he was sure:
"You!" he snarled, swirling around. "Great, just great! Tell me, has the Blacks intermarrying fried every brain cell, or are you just especially stupid?" he turned on his cousin.
Sirius opened his mouth to reply something, but Draco didn't give him the time:
"I don't know if I should be angrier about you scaring him even more than he already was, or about the repercussions your stupid outburst will have," he hissed.
"You little…!" Sirius growled back, lunging forward, only to be stopped by Lupin again.
"Let go of me Remi! I need to teach him a lesson! They can't treat Harry like this! He has gone through enough shit, I won't allow it!"
"Stop it!" the wolf snapped back, his soft, amber eyes quickly flashing. "You don't even know what happened! Or if it was them!"
Draco saw hurt flicker through those night-blue eyes at his former Professor's words, but Black quickly got himself under control again.
"Of course it was them! Harry wasn't with anybody else this morning, and he was still fine when he left the party yesterday!" His cousin started to struggle again, but even with the height-advantage he had, he was not strong enough to free himself from his smaller partner.
"By Merlin's beard, stop it! You have done enough damage already!"
That finally managed to freeze the animagus in place.
"What do you mean? Are you siding with them?" he asked, throwing a filthy glare at Draco and Lucius. But the only thing it earned him was a smack against the back of his head.
"I believe," Lucius chose that moment to join the argument with a drawl "what my son and Lupin mean, is that Harry will be disappointed if he realizes that you still do not trust us. He will surely not be amused by the breaking of your promise."
Draco watched with satisfaction as his cousin paled. The wizard was getting on his last nerves and he hadn't even had to put up with him as much as his father had. How had Lucius managed to live with him under one roof for six weeks and not hex him into the next century?
"What happened anyway?" Lupin's voice pulled him out of his musings. Apparently trying to use the opportunity to get some more information.
From the corner of his eyes, Draco saw his father looking imperceptibly at him and it was enough to make him understand that Lucius wanted him to take care of the situation. Not only had he started this argument in a sense, but it would also help him with establishing himself as an equal partner next to Harry and Lucius.
However, he couldn't suppress the last annoyed jibe: "You mean besides the mutt barging in like a manticore in a Potions Lab while insulting his mates?"
"If he is feeling bad because of something his so called 'mates' have done, then yes," Black growled back, but Lupin shot him another warning glare and he instantly shut up again.
Sighing, Draco forced himself to calm down and turned to the former Professor. If he wanted to be taken seriously as Harry's dominant, he needed to act more grown-up than he had done so far. Oh, how he hated having inherited the Black's volatile temper from his mother!
"We are not sure either. Severus will try to examine him."
"So you are trying to tell us that he was like this since he woke up?" Black scoffed, but Draco refused to have his feathers ruffled by him once more and simply replied: "Yes. The only hint we have right now is that it could be an aftereffect of the Weaslette attacking our mating bond."
A worried look crossed Lupin's face and he frowned a little, before nodding.
"Could you please inform us of any news? I don't think that Severus will tell us anything after Sirius' stunt."
"Of course," nodded Draco, knowing how important the two wizards were to his little mate, and also, he could at least respect the wolf somewhat for his calm and supportive nature.
"We shall take our leave then," Lucius finally entered the conversation again.
"And so shall we," the former Professor agreed, yanking a little at his partner's arm to get him moving.
The way up to their quarters was spent in silence by Draco and Lucius. Not because they feared anyone overhearing them (it was still the Holidays after all) but because neither of them really knew what to say, and they were too deep in their own thoughts to even notice the heavy silence between them.
Only when they had reached their living room and stood a bit awkwardly next to each other, did they resurface.
It was strangely silent without Harry, and for the first time they both realized how much the little submissive was truly doing for their bond. He was the sun they circled around, the person that joined them together. Without him the link that connected them was missing.
"I will use this unplanned opportunity and work through the pile of Ministry letters that has definitely gathered and piled up on my neglected work desk by now," Lucius finally announced, and proceeded to call Oscar to collect his work from his office at the Ministry.
"Then I will work on my Defense Essay which I have neglected so far," Draco replied with a smirk. "You must know father; my new Professor was quite demanding with his assigned homework over the Holidays."
"Is he?" Lucius smirked back. "But I hope not too demanding though?"
"Of course not. Malfoy's always do everything to the highest standards and that will not change."

After they had settled down, they worked in comfortable silence. It was the first time that they sat working like this. In Malfoy Manor, they each had their own study; Lucius the Head of House' study and Draco the one in his rooms. However, without even talking about it, they both admitted that with the new bond between them, and Harry already missing, they wouldn't feel comfortable being further apart. So they had settled down into two armchairs and began working, the only interruption having been Oscar, who brought them a drink at some point.
However, by now it was getting late and the day had been rather tiring, so Draco, who had finished the essay for Lucius' class a few hours ago and had opted for reading ahead in various textbooks, closed the tomb currently residing on his lap and stood up with a yawn.
His father blinked once; resurfacing from whatever paper he had been engrossed in, before looking at the old grandfather clock and nodding, before standing up as well.
Together, they walked into their bedroom and from there into their shared bathroom, where they proceeded to undress. Draco didn't think about any of it, until he stepped into the shower after Lucius and suddenly found himself far too close to his father without any submissive standing in between, serving as buffer and shield.
Feeling a flush rise in his cheeks, he cleared his throat and turned around, muttering "This is awkward." However, something held him in place and didn't allow him to simply step out of the shower until Lucius was finished.
"Maybe," his father's voice suddenly was heard behind him, making him jump in surprise "we should discuss our relationship."
Sighing, Draco dragged his hand through his hair and turned back around. "You are right. This won't be the only occasion in which we will find ourselves alone without Harry, and we cannot be shy around each other as soon as he is gone for the rest of our long lives."
"Indeed," Lucius agreed and leaned against the tiled wall, but didn't say anything more, giving Draco the lead.
So Draco took a moment to examine his father who was standing naked in front of him. With the initial surprise gone, he let his eyes wander unashamedly over the broad shoulders which were even broader than his own, then the pectoral abs which in contrast, were not quite as fine as those he had developed during his weekly Quidditch Training, and finally further down to the long, strong legs and the proud manhood that was nestled between the thighs.
By now he could admit that he had always leaned more towards boys than girls, but…
"I have to admit, Harry has good taste, you are quite attractive father," he finally began. "However, I am not 'attracted' to you."
"Neither am I," Lucius agreed easily. "However, the days, and especially the nights without Harry will be lonely and there are other physical comforts besides intercourse I would not mind sharing with you. We are 'mates' and we are 'father and son'. Some closeness should not be too embarrassing."
With a nod, Draco agreed and finally turned the water on. It was still a bit awkward showering while standing so close next to each other, but it probably would only be a matter of time until they were used to it. Maybe even his instincts would help out a little, now that they had admitted to needing each other more than in the past.
Ten minutes later they stepped out of the shower stall and back into their bedroom. Lucius climbed into bed first, and without hesitation, Draco followed him.
"This certainly feels like something is missing," Draco remarked and scooted closer to his father, until they lay shoulder to shoulder, the contact warming his cold body immediately.
"It does, but at least we do not have to go through this alone. This certainly is an advantage of being in a threesome," Lucius hummed and draped an arm over his chest, spreading the warmth even further.
To his slight surprise, Draco felt himself relax quickly. "It is," he agreed, closing his eyes.

Severus' eyes opened as his wand's alarm went off. They immediately wandered over to the curled up bundle sleeping on the bed next to him, almost pressed against the wall, so that they wouldn't touch by accident.
Since Harry had showed up in his quarters, two days had passed and he had been relieved when his son had first left his hiding place on the floor behind his sofa, and then yesterday evening, even followed him to bed.
He wasn't allowed to touch him yet, and Harry's answers to why were as nonsensical as they had been from the start, but apparently whatever was happening was getting better. The bond was strengthening he supposed, because the little raven had told him something about "less strain".
However, he was hopeful that he would be allowed to examine Harry today, because his son had agreed to the possibility as soon as his damaged bond would not fall apart at the mere touch from someone. Severus, by now, supposed that it had to do with the complicated net of magic a mating bond consisted of. Most likely, it was too unstable right now to be able to resist any strange magic from the outside, and in a sense, every magical being was emitting magic.
He was just glad that school hadn't started yet, and he wouldn't have to leave Harry alone to go to classes.
Harry must have sensed his gaze, because two emerald green eyes blinked open sleepily. "Morning dad," he smiled, still a bit weakly, but it was progress in comparison to three days ago.
"Good morning, Harry. How are you feeling? Has the bond stabilized further?" he greeted his son, not daring to get any closer. However, Harry surprised him by shuffling over to him and placing his messy head onto his chest.
"I think it's almost healed… it's just..." he began, but then broke off with a deep frown.
"You don't want to go back to your mates yet?" Severus hazarded a guess.
Harry made a noncommittal noise. "It doesn't feel completely stable yet… if someone was to attack me physically or magically… are they very angry with me?"
"They are worried, but not angry," he replied, sending his son a disapproving glare. He hated how insecure Harry often was, how he still couldn't quite believe that he was worthy of being loved and treated with consideration. If the Dursley's weren't dead already, he would have visited them a long time ago. But as it was, they were lucky and out of his reach.
Harry flushed and burrowed his head into his chest, hiding like a small kid. With a soft sigh, Severus placed an arm around him and drew him carefully closer. He knew it was wrong, being glad that he had not missed out on Harry's childhood completely, especially considering the difficulties being a vampire brought along, but he enjoyed these little moments. Apart from Lily, no one had truly loved and cherished him, but even she had been judgmental in comparison to their son. Back when he had still been at Hogwarts, he had often fantasized with Lily about having a family. He had dreamed about it, but it still astounded him how quickly he had gotten used to being a father and how natural the job came to him, even more so than brewing.
Sure, he knew he wasn't the dream dad children would imagine when reading a book. He was snarky, his mood was often dark, and he had a sharp wit of humor not everybody could appreciate, but Harry seemed to be happy to have him, and that was the important thing.
Sometimes, he wondered whether Harry would have been so happy to have him as his father if he had grown up in a loving household, like the Weasley's, and not with abusive Muggles. But he always shoved the thought to the side, refusing to destroy one of the few good things life had granted him. Although, with being a vampire now, and finally having a small but mostly happy family, he hoped that the future would have some easier times in store for them.
"So, do you think I would be able to examine you today?" He finally asked after a long moment of peaceful silence.
Harry hesitated a moment, shifting a little so that one hand was now lying across his midsection, before he nodded slowly.
"Just… don't use too much magic?"
Nodding in agreement, Severus contemplated how to phrase his next request, or proposal. In the end, he decided that there was nothing like saying it outright and deal with Harry's reaction, so he cleared his throat and said: "I believe it would be a good idea to invite Lucius and Draco for the examination." Immediately, Harry stiffened, but he just continued, hoping that a more thorough explanation would calm his son down again. "I promise you, they will not come near you, I will not let them into my quarters if they can't promise that, but they have behaved the last couple of days and you need to throw the Malfoy's a bone sometimes. And I know what I am speaking of; I have been friends with Lucius longer than you have been alive."
To his joy Harry started chuckling lightly. "Well, they are Slytherins, and Slytherins don't do anything if they don't get something in return," he pointed out quite correctly, but Severus still had to roll his eyes at the stigmatization. "There are exceptions," he said sitting up, and by doing so, making his son do the same quite effectively.
"Get dressed brat so that we can reassure your dominants," he said, and started doing so himself. He truly wanted to get the examination done, because quite frankly, Draco and Lucius' worried, and bordering on demanding, daily fire-calls were grating on his nerves. Also, watching Harry the last couple of days, he had stopped worrying as much. His son was clearly getting better, and his and his familiar's instincts about the matter had been quite precise.
Therefore, as soon as he was dressed, he relit his hearth, which had burned down to mere ambers during the night (since his turning he didn't bother to put in enough wood to keep it going during the night anymore), and threw some floo powder in, calling out "Founders Quarters, Living Room."
Sticking his head into the flames, he waited until the irritating swirling had stopped and he could open his eyes without getting sooth into them. Lucius and Draco were sitting around the coffee table, each reading through a copy of the 'Daily Prophet'; however, they must have looked up as soon as the flames had flared.
"I will be examining Harry now and he has agreed that you could attend as long as you keep your distance," he said before one of them could start their daily rants about the unfairness of the situation.
He watched the two blondes exchange a look and then got to their feet, so he pulled his head out of the hearth again and reappeared in his living room.
"They are on their way," he told Harry, who was by now dressed, although only in a loose cotton shirt and a pair of sweatpants, and was now sitting on the sofa again, petting his little bat. Nagini, he saw, was curled up on one of his spare armchairs, watching them silently.
"Okay." Harry answered, just as his hearth flared again while Draco and Lucius stepped out in quick succession.
"Little one," Lucius greeting was a bit strained and worry was clearly edged into his eyes.
"Harry, you feeling better?" Draco added, looking just as worried.
Harry only nodded, clearly unable to say anything more, so Severus decided to explain: "He hopes that he will be completely back to normal by tomorrow. Now shall we start?"
His son's mates walked over to the free armchairs and sat down as promised. That they actually managed it was most likely due to the stern Malfoy upbringing, and truth to be told, it was also the only reason why he had even suggested inviting them. Usually it was quite impossible for mates to keep their distance from a sick partner, and nothing except physical and magical restraint would force them.
Walking over to his couch, he sat down next to Harry. "Do you want me to start with a physical examination like muggles do, or a magical alone?"
"Maybe a Diagnostic Spell will be enough?" Harry asked, clearly still feeling a bit uncomfortable with the whole topic.
Severus just nodded, even though he assumed that a mere Diagnostic Spell wouldn't give them enough results to determine what exactly had been happening to his son. Still, he lifted his wand slowly, so that Harry could see every movement, and even went so far as to speak the spell out loud, even though he normally didn't bother.
A piece of parchment formed at the end of his wand, growing longer and longer as it probably listed all the injuries his son had obtained during his years with his 'relatives'. When it had finally stopped, he grabbed it and began reading through it. To his frustration, the results were even less informative than he had expected. Seemingly, everything was alright with Harry, apart from the fact that he was clearly 'dead' or 'undead'.
"Let me try another spell, one specifically designed to read the status of a magical bonds," he said, waiting for Harry's nod to cast the next one. In the background, Lucius and Draco had fallen completely silent and unmoving.
Casting the other spell, he watched as a light began to glow around his son which slowly turned green. He tried to not show his surprise at the outcome, unfortunately Lucius could read him too well.
"What is the matter, Severus?" he asked, his tone suggesting that he better just tell the truth.
"According to this spell, everything is fine with your mating bond."
"But that would mean," Draco concluded, "that something else is wrong with Harry."
Knowing that he had to defuse the situation quickly, if he didn't want Lucius and Draco to return to the insufferable state they had been in three days ago, he pointed out: "Not necessarily. We cannot say with certainty how any Diagnostic Spell will react to being cast on a vampire. Maybe this method will give more information," he added, motioning for Harry to lie down.
He focused his magic into his right hand, before starting to carefully trace it over his son's body, just reaching out with his core to sense anything unusual. This method would not give him any clear diagnostic, but he, in contrast to a mindless spell, might be able to sense something.
Nothing seemed to be out of order as he first traced Harry's face and then down over his chests and arms. However, as he wandered lower into the direction of Harry's stomach, he could feel a powerful gathering of Harry's magic there, and as he placed his hand over its center, he could feel something like a hardened shell covering the former soft section of Harry's belly.
"Harry, when you said something felt fragile, did you mean something in your abdomen?" He asked, looking up at his son, who slowly nodded.
"Have you found anything, uncle Sev?" Draco asked immediately.
"There is something similar to a shield, formed by Harry's magic inside his abdomen. I am quite certain it was not there before. I can only assume that this was what Harry could feel growing inside of him and making him uneasy. It must have been quite fragile in the beginning," he concluded.
"But why would a magical barrier need to be physical? Would a purely magical one not suffice?" Lucius asked thoughtfully.
"Maybe my magic wants to make sure after Ginny's attack?" Harry asked, frowning down towards his stomach."
"Possibly," Severus replied, even though he wasn't quite satisfied with that answer. "But at least we know for certain that nothing bad has been happening to you. Your exhaustion must have been due to the amount of magic this shield has drawn upon over these last few days.
"That is a relief," Lucius said with a small smile in Harry's direction.
A strange silence arose then and Severus could practically feel the different wishes collide in the air. Clearly, his old friend and godson did not wish to leave so soon, but he could also feel Harry beginning to fidget next to him and he knew that his son had reached his threshold.
Therefore he stood up, and addressed the two blondes: "I hope this news will grant you some peace of mind and tomorrow, hopefully, everything will be back to normal," he said holding out his bowl of floo-powder.
Lucius and Draco took the hint, of course, they were Slytherins after all, and with one last, longing look towards his son they returned to their respective quarters.

Harry stood in front of the closed door that led to the rooms he shared with his two dominants. He felt like shit and on top of that, nervous as hell.
What had gotten into him these past few days? How could he have treated his mates like he had done? He loved them, for Merlin's sake, and he knew that there was no reason to be afraid of them.
While he could remember everything that had happened, he oddly felt as if he had woken from some drunken stupor or crazy, potion or drug induced state. Unfortunately, there was nothing like a slipped Love Potion in his morning tea he could blame.
Once again he lifted his hand to push the front door open only for it to once again fall heavily back to his side as the image of a pair of ice-blue and silver eyes filled with longing flashed through his mind.
In contrast to what Hermione and his mates liked to think, he wasn't always completely unaware and he couldn't have missed the sad look in his dominants' eyes. He had put that look there and the guilt was about to overwhelm him. How could he ever make up for his strange and rude behavior?
Suddenly Justitius nudged his cheek and he sighed. "Yeah, I know, standing here will do nothing," he muttered and finally pushed the door open. It was midmorning, an hour where most people were out and gone, but light was spilling from the living room into the long hallway, telling him that Lucius and Draco were there and probably waiting for him.
"Here goes nothing," he told his little familiar who had made himself comfortable in his nest of messy hair and finally began the way down to said room.
As soon as he reached the doorway, Draco and Lucius, who had been sitting on the sofa reading the Daily Prophet, stood up. There was a split second of tension, but then Lucius opened his arms invitingly and Draco said "Welcome back", and in the next moment he was flinging himself into their arms.
"I missed you," he sobbed, knowing that it was true. Even with his irrational fear, he had wished the whole time that the feeling would be gone and he could return to his mates, but knowing that his instincts wouldn't allow it yet.
"We missed you too, ma bien-aime," Draco whispered, burrowing his nose into his head and jostling Justitius.
And just like this all his fears and anxieties about going back to his mates vanished. He was back home.
