"Yes. You. my darling, are the only one that can bring that wall down. Somehow, you are going to have to find the courage, which I know you have in abundance, to want to face it."
Roark nodded slowly, though his face had gone pale again, "Can we do it now?" he asked, looking over at Ethan.
"No. Not now." Ethan said quietly, looking at his youngest brother. "As much as we need to know exactly what it is you are dreaming about, it wouldn't be wise. Whatever is behind that wall is horrifying to an extreme. Before we even ATTEMPT to bring that wall down, I want you in a well shielded, tightly controlled environment."
Roark, not particularly feeling up to dealing with it further, gave a sigh of relief. Suddenly, just as he was about to say something, a huge yawn broke free, which had everyone in the room chuckling. Unable to keep his eyes open a moment longer, they slipped closed as he snuggled against Rodolphus.
He felt a pair of warm lips press to his temple, and blinking open, smiled. "Papa," he murmured as he was eased back against the pillows, Harry reaching out to grab hold of the light blanket to pull it up.
"Go to sleep now, little brother," he said softly as he smoothed dark strands of hair back out of his eyes. "Just let this go for now. Tomorrow will be soon enough to discuss what we need to do about this.."
Between one moment and the next, Roark was asleep, snuggled tightly against his love. Roark Sr. rose slowly to his feet. "Let's get a couple more centars of sleep. Come morning, we can discuss this further."

It was nearly twelve hundred before everyone was gathered in the dining room for a late breakfast as more than a few had slept late. Roark was the last to join them, looking more than a little exhausted as he took the seat between Rodolphus and Harry.
"I think," Aiden said as Roark took the mug handed to him, smiling when he sighed after drinking deeply, "that we need to wait a few sectons before we do anything."
"Agreed," came from Dacian. "As important as this may be, I refuse to risk you, Rory. Get as much rest as you can and work on rebuilding and strengthening your shielding."
"I also think that would be a good idea as well," Roark Sr. said as he sat back in his chair, cradling a mug of coffee. "This does not need to be done right away. As we stand now, we have a couple of sectar before the Conference, so we have a little more time."
"I still want to head over to the training center. It's the only place comfortable and safe enough to work with his more wilder gifts," Ethan told them.
Roark swallowed the eggs. "All of my gifts feel like they've gone wild."
A nod. "That's because you haven't been able to build a complete set of shields, and when you DO manage to, something happens and down they come. We have to figure out a way to get a handle on your empathy. That is where, I think, most of your problems are."
Roark pushed his empty plate back, finished his juice, and then got to his feet. "Ready when you are, Ethan."
"Is it alright if Rabastan and I come with you, Ethan?" Harry asked as he got to his own feet. "I think we may be able to help."
"Absolutely. The faster we can get him centered, get his shields rebuilt and strengthened, the faster we can start on those wild gifts."
Rabastan stood, grabbing his scarlet jacket from the back of his chair where he had placed it, pulling it on. "Let's get moving then. I have a class with Schy and Severus in a couple of centars."
