Posting this chapter a bit early this week as I won’t have the chance tomorrow. Sorry for any errors I tried editing this before posting but my mind is just sort of blank. There will not be a chapter posted next week to give myself time to process my moms passing. I’m going to try to post the week after but no promises.

Draco was not sure he liked being a werewolf. It wasn’t just because of the pain he had to go through for the transformation but everything else.
His form was gangly for one. It felt uneven and unbalanced. Guess that made sense considering he was literally stuck in between the two forms; half man and half wolf. It had taken him a moment to get the feel for moving about with this new body.
Then there were the scents and sounds. They were overwhelming. There was the scuttle of rodents, the wind through the trees, the leaves rustling together. There were moldy leaves on the ground, damp dirt, the air filtering through even more scents from places unseen. It was hard to tell which was which.
But in amongst all of that was a sweet smell that over powered everything else. It was a type of sweet that Draco had no name for but he wanted to find it and claim it; and it originated from the leopard not far from him.
Draco recognized the leopard as Edge. He knew the vampire’s scent from tracking him through the castle but it was stronger to the wolf. Draco had liked the vampires scent but the wolf liked it even more as he breathed it in from the fur of the leopard.
The wolf recognized this smell. It was the same smell that had healed him. It was the same smell that had comforted him. The scent, though sweet, was also strong and controlled a pack. Against all odds, this vampire would make a suitable mate. The wolf knew it was strange and weird but this vampire had proven himself and he could smell the want and desire coming off the vampire as well. Would the vampire allow him to dominate or would they fight for it? The wolf wanted to sink his teeth in to find out.
Draco had shied away from the overwhelming urge he felt from the wolf to pin Edge to the ground. Not understanding the wolf’s intentions he had thrown Edge away from him not wanting to risk hurting the vampire. The wolf of course argued with him, snarling and growling.
The others had appeared then, distracting the wolf momentarily from the leopard. Draco still remained in control for the most part the wolf deferring to him, that was, until the wolf noticed the panther by his leopard. The panther, another vampire by the smell, was unmarked and rubbing against his leopard. The wolf was enraged within seconds at the thought of another taking the vampire from him. Draco was unable to call the wolf back and it broke from its drugged state.
When Draco had come back to the front he was laying in front of Edge, sore and bleeding. It was only when Severus mentioned that the wolf had chosen Edge that Draco knew it to be true. The urge to start a scuffle rose again. What the hell? If the wolf had chosen Edge as a mate then why would it want to fight the vampire?
Draco groaned. Not tonight. He did allow the wolf to rub against Edge to make sure he was sufficiently covered head to toe in his scent in compromise. Edge allowed it with a chuckle rubbing back just as enthusiastically.
Draco remained close to Edge for the rest of the night, not allowing Shadow near the older vampire. Shadow simply shrugged it off and stayed back with Severus nursing his leg where the wolf had torn into it. Moony and Cobalt went off on their own into the forest still feeling some guilt for attacking Draco even though Draco understood and had told them so.
Edge had chosen a soft mossy area within the roots of a giant tree to bed into for the night. The original plan had been to run and explore but with two of them now holding injuries that plan had been put on hold. Draco joined Edge in the small space keeping a close eye on the panther and fox not far from them.
*Maybe you could bond with Severus as well.* Edge stated softly drawing Draco’s attention.
*I could do that?* Draco asked feeling the wolf confused. Why would they want or even need another bond?
The leopard nodded. *The Guardian bond is different enough that the two won’t affect the other.*
The wolf grumbled in Draco’s head to which Draco quickly thought of what the bond was so the wolf would know. The idea intrigued the wolf but it still seemed hesitant as though something was holding it back. The moon perhaps?
It’s either the Guardian bond or getting drugged every month. Draco thought to the wolf.
The wolf snarled at him. You dare give me an ultimatum?
I won’t let you roam as a mindless creature under the effects of the moon.
The wolf remained silent after that.
Moony and Cobalt eventually returned more relaxed than they left, and panting as though they had been running, and lay down together close to Shadow and Severus. A quiet conversation started between them that Draco toned out closing his eyes and pressing close against Edge.
*Silver?* Came Shadows gentle voice.
Draco lifted his head tilting it in question.
*Is your jackal form still there?*
Draco rested his head back on his paws. *No, but it’s okay; I mainly became an animagus to be able to sneak out of the Manor. I’m not going back it appears so there is no need and I wasn’t overly attached to the jackal form anyway.*
*Your jackal form could come in handy for getting into small spaces.* Severus spoke up. *If you wanted to go through with the Guardian bond I might be able to find him for you but it would have to be done tonight.*
It was true, Draco supposed, the jackal would be good for small maneuvering, but Severus was even smaller than he was. Although, it wasn’t like his particular jackal was even native to Europe, so that could be an issue if he was sent anywhere and got caught. He remembered Harry sharing the details with him about Sirius’s transformation and bonding. Maybe if he had been the European version instead of Side striped, it would make it more worth the effort.
Draco shook his head. *It’s not worth it.* He lifted his head to look at the fox. *But Edge said I should be able to take both bonds.*
*There is no reason you can’t should you wish to do so.* stated Edge. *It might be preferable if you did honestly.*
The tone of Edge’s voice made Draco want to curl even tighter into the vampire, instead he kept his attention on Severus. *Would you?*
The fox stood before transforming. “I already said I would.”
Severus walked closer stopping when Draco growled clearly not wanting anyone very close to Edge at the moment. Edge huffed a sigh behind him as his tail flicked.
*Are all werewolves like this?* He questioned Moony.
Moony chuckled and nodded. *It will lessen once bonded but yes. Werewolves are considered the most possessive creatures for a reason.*
*No joke.* Cobalt muttered. *Merlin forbid anyone so much as look at me once Moony discovered I was his mate. It was probably a good thing we were already going out at the time because suddenly having one of your best friends start rubbing all over you and snarling at every person that showed even the slightest interest, male or female, would have been super weird.*
Moony grumble growled at Cobalt who simply shrugged in response. Draco was pretty sure there would be a blush on the tawny wolf’s cheeks if they weren’t coated in fur.
*Needless to say you might need to make an exception with the ‘no feeding on Guardians’ rule if they do bond.* Cobalt continued. *There is a very good chance the wolf won’t allow you to feed from anyone else.*
The growl that left his chest surprised even Draco. The wolf had come rushing forth once again at the thought. His vampire would not be feeding from anyone else. Edge shifted behind him trying to stand and Draco lost momentary control as the wolf turned to snarl at him freezing the vampire in his place.
The leopard narrowed his eyes a bit. *The sun will be rising soon so we should start heading back to the house.*
Edge kept his voice calm and reasonable, clearly not wanting to upset the wolf further tonight. He stayed hunched down against the tree in the partial standing position he had frozen in. The wolf huffed relenting to the vampires reasoning before leaning forward to press his nose under the leopards chin. Edge raised his head slightly moving fully to his feet his tail twitching back and forth quickly.
Draco noticed the signs of annoyed cat but the wolf paid them no mind on purpose. If they were to be mates, why was the wolf irritating Edge so much? Why was the wolf itching for a fight?
“Draco?” Severus asked stepping forward.
Draco was going to get whiplash as often as this wolf was changing directions. He had no clue if it was to upset Edge or if the wolf was just this unstable, but it turned and snapped at Severus. Draco was getting so tired of trying to rein this trouble maker in.
Severus, to his credit, simply stood and glared at the snarling werewolf. Moony and Cobalt were back on their feet but a hiss and growl from Edge had them staying put. Shadow rolled his eyes and continued nursing his wounded leg.
*Merlin, the wolf is as moody as the human underneath.* Shadow mumbled.
Draco growled at the panther just as the wolf did. He moved to step around Severus but the dark haired man stepped back in front blocking Shadow from his sight protectively.
“You’ve done enough tonight.” Severus stated calmly even though his eyes glowed a warning.
The wolf was suitably impressed by this vampire’s strength and willingness to protect his future mate. It could smell the smaller vampires mark on the vampire in front of him and wondered why the smaller was not yet marked. The wolf walked right up to Severus before snapping his jaws over the vampires arm. Severus hissed but did not respond in any other way.
Draco sighed mentally as his teeth parted to let his godfather go. Was the wolf really just testing them? He lapped at the wound as it healed while Severus watched unamused.
“Some warning would have been nice, Silver.”
Draco whined in apology giving his godfather a wet werewolf kiss across the cheek feeling amused when the man grumbled and pushed him away with a mock snarl.
“Keep your drool to yourself.”
Edge walked by them with a chuckle. *Come, the sun is rising.*
The group made their way back toward the house at a trot with the snow leopard leading the way. Shadow fell behind due to his slowly healing paw and had to shift with Severus’ urging to get weight off of it. Severus rolled his eyes as Harry rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
Cobalt chuckled. *I just thought of something.* he said trotting along beside Moony. *Snape and Edge don’t have names.*
Edge glanced back over his shoulder. *Are you talking about nicknames?*
*Sure am.* Cobalt held his head up high. *And I have the perfect name for Snape.*
Severus sighed. “Oh do you?” He asked dryly.
Cobalt looked over at Severus with the wolf equivalent of a smirk with a glint of mischief in his eyes. *Vixen.*
“You are out of your mind, Black.” Severus growled with a glare.
Draco couldn’t help but snigger and heard Harry and Edge snigger as well. Moony opened his mouth in a wolfish grin.
*What?* Cobalt asked with fake innocence. *You are a fox.*
“I am not female.”
“I was thinking Nox personally.” Input Harry.
“Nox?” Severus glanced at Harry curiously.
Harry nodded. “You markings kind of remind me of the red being blacked out or the light in the process of going out.” Harry shrugged suddenly feeling embarrassed as they reached the gates of the cottage.
Draco paused in the garden as he felt the transformation start pulling at him. The pull was different this time around; not forceful but a gentle coaxing. It felt more like the wolf was simply stepping back instead of trying to rip out of him. Before Draco could fully comprehend the feeling it was gone and he was stumbling on his own two feet. Edge was immediately next to him, wrapping a warm blanket around him, and supporting him so that he stayed on his feet. Draco felt exhausted from the constant back and forth and could still feel the instincts of the wolf itching to challenge the vampire currently supporting him.
“Sabu.” He mumbled under his breath knowing the others would be able to him. “For Edge.”
Edge blinked down at him confused. “Sabu?”
Severus hummed. “It’s the Tibetan word for snow leopard; also strong and loyal in Hindi.” He looked over at Edge. “It certainly fits for you. Draco did his research.”
Edge nuzzled into Draco’s hair as he lifted him to carry the exhausted blonde into the house. “It’s perfect.”
Neither of them noticed the fond eye rolls and smiles from the other four in the garden

Severus woke suddenly staring up at the ceiling of the room he and Harry had commandeered the night before. He could feel that the sun was still well in the sky estimating the time to be about three or four in the afternoon. He groaned rubbing a hand over his face. What had woken him so suddenly?
There. Severus lowered his hand listening intently. There it was again; a soft clang from down in the kitchen. Someone was moving around. Severus narrowed his eyes. After last night, everyone that was in the house should be asleep. Even Lupin and Black still slept the day away after a full moon. Severus carefully stood, as to not wake Harry, and made his way to the lower floor of the house. Even though the large curtains had been pulled he could still easily see in the dark house.
He made a quick detour to check on the wolves hearing both of them breathing steadily and evenly in their room. Edge and Draco had taken the master room on the ground floor. A quick listen found only Draco sleeping soundly. Severus narrowed his eyes in confusion. What was Edge doing awake so early?
Severus followed the soft sounds into the kitchen spotting Edge quietly making tea. The elder vampire didn’t even glance up at him as he walked in.
“Apologies, Severus, it was not my intention to wake anyone.” Edge sounded tired as though he hadn’t slept much and had been awake much longer than Severus had thought.
“Tea?”
Edge chuckled dryly. “I know, seems weird for a vampire to drink tea but old comforts still help.” He offered a cup to Severus who declined before settling at the small table in the corner of the room. “Sit with me if you like.”
Severus did watching the blue eyed man hold the cup between both hands absorbing the warmth from the tea inside. He picked up the scents of lavender and honey in the air. “Odd combination.”
A small smile graced Edge’s face. “My mum’s recipe.” He said fondly yet wistfully staring into the cup. “Being here is bringing back many memories for me. All good.” He was quick to assure Severus noting the look of concern on the other mans face. “The magic roses along the back gate were hers.”
“You were young when you were turned.” Severus commented.
Edge nodded sipping from his cup. “Not much older than Harry actually; only nineteen.” Edge sighed. “Makes me feel worse for turning Harry; my choice was taken from me and I took Harry’s. I’m no better than the bastard that turned me.”
Severus remained silent for a few moments. Edge’s voice remained sad. It was becoming very clear to Severus, that despite Edge’s outward joyful demeanor, he was carrying a lot of weight. Living over a century could do that to a person he guessed and Edge still had many, many years left in him.
“Did your parents know?” Severus asked quietly.
Edge shook his head. “No, or at least, I never told them. I continued to write to them though, even after Dante left, right up until their deaths about twenty years ago. Mum went first; dad followed not long after.”
“They stayed in the States.”
“They loved it over there. There were times that I thought of moving back, after I lost everything I was staying here for, but never managed it.” Edge sipped from his cup again the drink now only lukewarm going by the small grimace on his face. “Guess it doesn’t matter now.”
Severus shook his head. “You are dwelling.” He said not unkindly.
Edge huffed a small laugh. “I know. It doesn’t do any good does it.” He quickly finished his tea leaning back in the chair. “I guess losing Dante is affecting me more than I thought.”
“He meant a lot to you. His lose will leave a mark regardless of what he had done.” Severus tried to soothe but it only irritated the Clan Sire even more. “There is something more bothering you, isn’t there?”
Edge sighed, closing his eyes and leaning his head back. His breathing changed letting Severus know he was fighting tears. He leaned forward again resting his arms on the table and staring down at the patterns in the wood.
“I wanted him gone, Severus.” Edge admitted his voice choking. “I was so angry that he wasn’t there. He wasn’t there when the rogues found me, he wasn’t there to teach me what I needed to know, and he wasn’t there when my parents died.” His hands had gripped painfully in his hair and pink lines trailed down his face. “He was never fucking there.” Edge growled. “And then his claim on me was keeping me from Draco. What claim did he deserve over me? And he wasn’t there when we lost you.” Edge looked up at Severus with wide eyes and shaking hands. “How was I supposed to know he had saved you? How was I supposed to know he kept disappearing to check on the house? How was I supposed to know he was already fucking dying?!” Edge snapped standing with a growl. “He never fucking told me and then he…then he…”
Severus stood sensing that Edge was about to break and he did collapsing to the floor onto his knees face buried in his hands.
“I hate him! I hate him…” Edge trailed off giving over to the sobs racking his body.
Severus kneeled beside him and took the vampire in his arms letting him cry. He remained silent, not saying a word, what could he say after all? There were no words that could fix the pain Edge was feeling and no words that could fix what had been done. Edge cried for many minutes before he slowly tapered off into silence. The only things that let Severus know that Edge was still awake, and with him, was the rate of his breathing and heartbeat.
“You don’t hate him, Edge.” Severus whispered softly.
Many more minutes passed. It was long enough that Severus could feel the sun starting to sink below the horizon.
“I know.” Came the whispered answer as the sounds of the others awakening reached their ears. Edge stood and Severus followed. “I was thinking.” Edge started picking up his cup and taking it to the sink acting as though nothing had occurred. “Perhaps we should move here after they take their exams. There will be no reason for them to remain at Hogwarts afterwards and it will allow us to actually start acting like a clan.” Edge turned back to Severus obviously looking for his input.
Severus nodded after some thought. “I can see no reason not to. The events of last night may not have happened had everyone actually been living together as clans and packs do.”
Edge nodded. “We’ll meet up after we return to the castle and discuss it.” The elder vampire made his way to the door but paused briefly a hand resting on the trim. “Thank you.” Edge then continued on his way not waiting for a reply.
