Draco grinned just a little as he looked over the dragon Severus gave him. After listening to what was said and toying with the stuffed animal a bit, he nodded. “I can do this, no problem,” he told Severus and his father. Then he picked up the sheet Severus passed him to see what they wanted him to record. No, this wasn't hard at all and he could easily do something.
After walking Draco through how to key the stuffed animal in to his magic, as he had done with Harry when he gave him Elliot, then doing the charms to help assimilate him to his son's personality, Lucius told him, “Just interact with him off and on throughout the days. And keep him on you at all times. As you can shrink him and tuck him in your pocket, it's not a hardship.”“Easily done,” Draco nodded, looking at the silver and green stuffed dragon that was perched on his shoulder. “I'll record what I can when I see something. How long before I see any changes in him, do you know?”“Fairly quickly, actually,” Severus told him, leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest. “One of the standard charms on them helps to key them into what you want him for. It's for children, of course, but it will even work for you. Once it figures out what you have him around for, it'll start to behave in such a way and show behaviors it isn't now. I doubt it will act like Harry's, as part of what you see comes from his personality, though it should do plenty that is pleasing to you.”“Should be interesting,” Draco chuckled, petting the dragon's head, grinning as it roared and leaned into his touch.“My suggestion is to treat the dragon like a pet of some kind,” Lucius explained to his son. “It will key into your personality, but also react to what you do. We can then go from there with some areas and judge whatever by what the creature does.”“Easily done,” Draco nodded, smirking. While this wasn't the same as having one like Potter's, he liked the idea of not only having something before anyone else did, but that it would react to him only and key into what he wanted. “I'm the only one who has one?” He asked, looking between the two. “Well, besides Potter, that is.”“No, you aren't.” Severus told him. Then he explained about Fred and George receiving one as well. “We figure the three of you are excellent test subjects and we'll end up with a different behavior pattern from all of you. If this goes how we think, it'll solve the problems we're having with the spells.”“Understood,” Draco nodded, still happy he would have something before most. “I do get to keep him, right?” He then asked, thinking it over.“He's yours,” Lucius told his son with a smirk. “No matter what happens. It's a test run to see if the theory is right. If it is, you'll have one before anyone else.” Then, with a snort, he asked, “What are you going to name him? I think you should, as it'll aid in him attaching to you.”As he looked at the dragon, Draco thought it over then grinned and said, “Drake. Not the most original name, but it'll do.”“It will,” Severus said with a smirk and nod. “I'll check in each day and take a gander at the notes you take on him. If you see anything odd, make sure to record it.”“I will, don't worry,” Draco assured him, grinning as he did, and petting the dragon who leaned into his touch. While it was a stuffed animal, he already liked the thing. Yes, he would have fun with it doing all sorts of bits.
As Harry read through some of the mail he received from various places, all legit stuff, Sirius chuckled as he browsed through the letter from Molly. After putting a hand on Harry's shoulder and giving it a squeeze, he snorted, grinning, “Molly is more than willing to let Fred and George come over whenever we want. She says to just let them know so we can make arrangements to get them here.”
“How about we see about bringing them over tomorrow, Harry?” He asked his godson, who was reading through a letter from the twins, from the look of it.“Good with me,” Harry nodded, chuckling at some of what the two said to him. From the sound of it, the two were taking on the task of getting revenge on the three idiots for him. They weren't saying what they were doing, of course, but said they were planning something. “I like having them around. Well, and we still have plenty we need to clean.”“I'll send an owl off and set something up for tomorrow,” Remus told him with a smile. “Might be best for me to pick them up and take them home, something I have no problem with.”“We'll do this,” Sirius said with a nod, figuring it would do Harry a world of good to have them around. Not only did he like the twins and they had fun, but it would keep his mind off what was going on with him. “I'll let you word a letter to her so you can make arrangements from there. We'll work a bit in the morning then just muck around the rest of the day. Plenty to do, so we'll find something. Just tell them to bring their brooms and we'll have a game, of a kind.”“Will do,” Remus nodded, still smiling. “Maybe we can introduce them to Quodpot and see how they like it. It never caught on here in the UK, but other parts of the world love it.”“What's that?” Harry asked, brow furrowed. He hadn't heard of it before, so he was curious.“A form of Quidditch,” Sirius told him then explained the basics. “We can give it a try and see if you like it. It's just different, nothing more. A little more challenging in some ways.”Harry took in what Sirius said and gave a slow nod. “Sounds interesting. We can give it a try. Doubt it'll take the place of Quidditch, but it sounds like fun.”“The exploding bit makes it a bit more exciting and hones your skills somewhat,” Remus chuckled, already penning a letter to Molly about the venture. “We'll enjoy it as we don't have enough space for a full game.”“True,” Harry chuckled, putting the twins' letter aside to answer later then picked up the next one. As it was obviously from his Solicitor, he frowned slightly, hoping it wasn't something which would cause issues. While he knew Lucius said the Board was putting out the first feelers for settling, there was also the upcoming hearing. He hoped it wasn't more on the latter as he didn't want to deal with any more than he already was.Though wary, Harry opened it, gut already clenching and hoping it wasn't about the hearing. As he started to read through it, he let out a sigh of relief. It was about the Board and the settlement. Though he looked at the figure the Board offered, he really didn't care about it and planned to accept. This way it wasn't drawn out and he could move on from it without having to worry. After seeing the look on Harry's face, Sirius asked, slipping an arm around him, “What's in the letter, if you don't mind me asking?” He hoped it wasn't something which would cause more problems than Harry was already having.“It's about the settlement from the Board,” Harry explained, passing the letter to his godfather. “I'm taking it as is. The money doesn't matter, but the official apology is good by me there. Doesn't fix this, but at least they admit it. And I'm glad they didn't add a confidentiality clause.”“Wouldn't matter if they did,” Sirius snorted as he read through what was there. “Everyone and their aunt knows what happened because of Albus and Pomfrey. It was in the Prophet, so it's out there.” As he read, Sirius was pleased with what was there. When he finished, he nodded then passed it to Remus. “You fine with the amount?” He asked, though assumed he was.“It's good by me. I honestly don't care about the money with it,” Harry told him with a shrug. “It's just the point,” he added, taking the letter back from Remus when he finished.“I can certain understand the reasoning,” Remus nodded. “Just prepare for it to hit the papers,” he added gently. “Your name won't be attached as you were underage at the time, but it'll be out there.”“Fine by me as long as they don't pull another stunt like the last bit in the paper,” Harry groused, looking sour.“Doubtful there,” Sirius told him. “This is a touchy topic, so the Board isn't likely to give up names. You can add in the letter to have your Solicitor put a clause like that in there so the Prophet can't get the information in any way.”“Yeah, I'll do that bit,” Harry nodded, thinking it was a good idea. The more he was left out of this mess, the better he would be.“Write up your response this morning and we'll get it sent off,” Remus told him. “The faster you do, the quicker it will settle then it's over and you won't have to deal with it again.”“I will,” Harry nodded, grabbing some parchment, planning to finish quickly. The less he had to deal with this mess, the better off he'd be, that's for sure.
Sirius was happy Harry wasn't stressing over this bit too much and what they had been doing was lowering the dials a tad on what he was dealing with. While it wasn't back to what it was before he learned of the court date, it was better. As he held Harry close, he asked Remus, “Anything going on today that we know of or need to deal with?”“Not that I'm aware,” Remus told him. “I was thinking we could retire to the backyard this morning and play some games. I also wanted Harry's input on the school schedule. We can shift when we do what around to his tastes. He knows better than we do what not to put together or causes him the most trouble.”“Good idea,” Sirius nodded as Harry agreed. “We need to see what you have planned when so we can all prepare. Well, other than Lucius. Did you send him what he needs?”“We did and he'll have what we need made up in a week or so, from what Severus said,” Remus assured him. “We'll then add it into what we have and go from there. Shouldn't be a hardship.”“As long as we have it all sussed out, we're good,” Sirius agreed, smiling. When Harry finished with the letter, he said, “Let's go outside and find something to get into and have some fun with.” After Harry nodded, Sirius nudged him to stand. While there was probably plenty rough still coming, it was good to have a little bit of a break from it.
“What do you want to do this afternoon?” Sirius asked after settling down on the comfortable mat in Harry's room. They had a good time outside that morning and Harry was nice and relaxed from it. So far they weren't being bothered by anyone either, a huge plus as far as he was concerned. It wouldn't last, he realized that, but wanted to give Harry all he could for now.
As he looked around 'his' room, Harry thought it over, clutching Elliot close. After a few minutes of pondering it, he said, “Can we start a new project with the Legos? We haven't decided what we want to do there yet.”“Good by me,” Sirius grinned, summoning the Legos and books. Once it was all settled by them, he grabbed the first book and began flipping through the pages, holding it so they could both easily see. “Any suggestion on what we want to try now? We talked about several bits, but hadn't narrowed it down.”“Not sure,” Harry told him, glancing through the pages as Sirius flipped through them. “I think we might want to take on something a little more complicated this time. Maybe like a small town of some sort? It will even take us a while if we do that.”“Hey, we could do Hogsmeade,” Sirius grinned as he kept flipping. “We can use what they show in the books, of course, but tweak it how we want it. What do you think?”“Sounds fun,” Harry grinned. Then he added, “It'll go well with the castle we made and make a great decoration.”“It will,” Sirius admitted, finally finding the pictures of the town he had seen. “Let's do this. We'll need to set up a bigger base this time, but it won't be hard. Just some expansion charms is all we need. Then we can get to it.”“Yup,” Harry grinned, cuddling Elliot close as he watched Sirius pull out what they needed to start. As he did, Harry asked about what they needed to include. While they would just do the standard with the buildings, like shown, they could use magic to decorate them how they wanted. Oh yes, it'd be a lot of fun to work and would take them some time.As Sirius gathered what they needed, he talked to Harry. Nothing overly serious, of course, just bits and bobs about plenty of neutral areas. This was a good start.
After tea, the two were back up in their room, in the tub as was their now nightly ritual. Harry was a little more stressed than before because a couple people popped over, including Kingsley. They mostly came over to drop off some bits for Albus since the old goat wasn't around that day, having something to tend to at the school. While there, they tried to make nice with Harry, something which didn't work well. Harry gave the minimal answers possible and didn't engage more than he had to. While the fools realized it wasn’t working well, they kept trying, something which just irked Harry to no end, stressing him out. Remus finally stepped in and managed to get them to back off. Though Harry was a bit more dour after they left, grumbling slightly, it didn't throw him into the horrid mood he had been in before or overly stress him. He had just muttered about them being clueless gits and pressed on.
“You feeling all right?” Sirius asked as he gently washed Harry while his godson played with Elliot and his toys. “They didn't piss you off too much, did they?”“I'm good,” Harry told him as he guided the toys around with his wand, grinning as Elliot attacked them, roaring loudly. With a sigh, he then added, “Do the fools actually think I'm going to forget what they said or how they think the sun shines out Dumbledore's—backside?”“They apparently think so,” Sirius snorted, shaking his head. “Either that or they think someone is going to smooth the way for them,” he added as he continued to wash Harry.“Not going to work,” Harry shot back with a groan. “I just want to tell them that, too. Well, and several other bits. I won't though and will play nice, unless they push it.”“If they irk you too much, get up and walk off. Toss the code phrase out there and we'll vanish,” Sirius told him. “While I understand the impulse to snarl, in some cases it's best not to. Walking off is the way to handle it. We'll just come up here and hide out until the shits are gone. If we do it enough, they'll eventually get a clue.”“I can do that,” Harry nodded, grinning at Elliot going after the toys. He loved playing like this as it was a riot.Sirius smiled as he watched Harry. While this was a rough time and he was sure it would grow worse, at least Harry was becoming more comfortable with his role in the relationship. And it was helping, even he could see it was. When he finished washing Harry, he quickly cleaned himself up then let the water out of the tub. Refilling it, making sure it was nice and warm how they both liked, he then cast the spell to make it all bubbly. With a contented sigh, he leaned back, holding Harry close. “What do you want to do tonight, if anything?”“Nothing really,” Harry admitted, leaning back against Sirius, holding Elliot close. “I'm a bit tired after the mucking about today.”“I figured,” Sirius nodded. After all, they had spent plenty of time doing all sorts of bits, including smacking balls around then dealing with the stress of the jackarses. As he held Harry, he was trying to think what they could do which wasn't too physical and would be relaxing. Oh, he would be giving Harry the potion to help him sleep as he very much doubted much had changed when it came to the nightmares, but some quiet time before they lay down would do him good as well. After several moments, he came up with something then asked, “How about we do something different tonight?” When Harry nodded and looked at him, he suggested, “Why don't we sit in the chair and I'll read to you? I have a book of our kind of fairy tales. As I doubt you've heard them, I bet you'll like listening. Besides, it's a nice quiet activity which will relax us before we go to bed.”Harry didn't even need to think that one over. He agreed with a nod saying, “I think I'd like that.” While he was curious about the fairy tales, since he hadn't heard them before, he liked the idea of being held for a while even more. The potions were helping him sleep, but the nightmares weren't going away and he was starting to fear falling asleep a little because he knew they would come. Being held by Sirius and rocked calmed him down and made him feel like he could deal with them a bit more.“We'll do it then,” Sirius nodded, liking the idea honestly. It wasn't something he had thought of before, but would go with it.“What are our kind of fairy tales like?” Harry asked, now curious.“About the standard with morals and such,” Sirius shrugged. “At least that I can tell. They're just a bit different than the Muggle version from what I know of it. After I read a few, you can tell me how they differ as I'm not sure.”“Okay,” Harry nodded, now wondering what they were like. Snuggling back against Sirius, holding Elliot close, he gave a contented sigh and shut his eyes. This felt good and was highly relaxing. He now really looked forward to spending time in the tub each night. Sometimes it was the highlight of the day, despite all the fun they had.As Sirius talked a bit about some other areas, such as what they would do the following day, Harry just sat there with his eyes shut, relaxing. Yes, he loved this.
As quietly as he could, making sure not to move too much and to keep rocking, Sirius set the book he had been reading out of on the small table by the rocking chair after ensuring he marked the page. Going in to this venture, he wasn't sure what it would do when it came to Harry or if he would like it, but it had worked out better than he could have ever imagined. Harry had curled up to him and listened, relaxing plenty as he read. About the second story, his eyes had begun to shut. By the third, he had slipped his thumb into his mouth on his own and then had dozed off by the fourth. Oh yes, he was going to remember this, that's for damned sure.
Still rocking gently, making sure the blanket was pulled over his sleeping little boy, Sirius wrapped both arms around him and held him close. A glance down had him smiling. Harry was still out cold, clutching Elliot close, his thumb still in his mouth. Like this, Harry looked younger than what he was and completely at ease in a way he wasn't when he was awake. Perfect. While he doubted it fixed the issues there or even helped them much, it at least gave Harry some relief as he was plenty relaxed by the time he fell asleep. After giving Harry a kiss on the top of the head, his head went back, resting against the chair and his own eyes slid shut. Just sitting like this and rocking helped him too, honestly. There was something about the act and holding Harry which helped him as well, relieving the stress slightly. Good. They both got something out of it which was pleasurable. With a soft sigh, he began to rub Harry's back softly. Thankfully, he gave Harry the potion before he began to doze, so he didn't have to wake him for it. Though he was sure the potion was part of the reason Harry was asleep, he had been going that direction before it was given, which was good as well. Anything which helped at this juncture was something he wasn't going to question too much.As he rocked, he decided they'd stay here for a bit longer, until he was sure Harry was soundly sleeping, then he would move them to the bed. He hoped Harry wouldn't wake, or if he did it would be minimally. The more rest Harry got, the better he was at handling what was going on, so he would go for all he could manage.Still rocking, Sirius smiled. “Daddy loves you more than you will ever know, Harry,” he said softly. While he wasn't sure Harry would hear, he hoped some part of him would. Oh, sure, Harry knew how he felt about him, but he wanted it out there to reinforce what he felt. His thought was the more Harry heard it, the better he would feel. It might, maybe, help what his little boy was dealing with as well. After all, it always made you feel just a tad better when someone made sure you knew they cared.A soft sigh slipping through his lips, Sirius continued to rock, feeling the effects of how soothing it was himself. He too was feeling sleepy from it. That was fine as well. He needed his rest too. As he rocked, he felt himself start to doze and let it happen. When he woke, he would move both of them to the bed. Until then, they would both enjoy.
