Chapter 46
Beta'd by the amazing Tenchi. You're the best, woman, and thank you!
With help from Lynn who works with me when it comes to flow, continuity and other issues.
Just a reminder of what's on my profile; reviews complaining or whinging about the lack 'o sex in stories will get deleted. If you want a smut-filled romp, you need to find another story to read.
Putting down the copy of the Prophet he had just read aloud to the snakes, Harry looked at it, brow furrowed. Shaking his head, he sighed then said, “I have a question, Lucius.” Seeing the man motion for him to go on, he asked, “Can you translate what is in there for me? Obviously, I read it, but with the Prophet, how they spin whatever, follow the Ministry line and all that, it needs someone that understands what's going on to explain it to the rest of us.”
Hearing Severus give an amused snort and looking entirely amused himself, Lucius said, “I believe you're actually very accurate in that description, Harry. It takes many a year of reading that rag to get the experience you need to, as you say, 'translate' it to get the true meaning.” Picking up the paper Lucius noted that it was not only covering the breakout at Azkaban, but Wormtail and what he was saying, as well as what they found of Harry’s at Godric’s Hollow. Quietly, he said, glancing at the other papers scattered about on the table, “They are actually, for once, fairly accurate in their reporting of the events. There are pieces in all of the articles that are obviously spin meant to make the current administration look good, but it's one of their more factual pieces. Which tells me that enough others are covering the real events, holding Fudge's feet to the fire and leaning on him, that they know they better or they might have serious issues when he's finally held fully accountable for what he did. And that's not a bad thing.” Tossing the paper down, he leaned back and took a sip of his tea, pondering all that was in the mass of papers, now pleased with Severus’ suggestion to get the box.“The weekly paper, the UK Truth Spell, said there are reports of panic. I've not heard much about that paper, so I'm wondering how accurate and widespread that is. I do know I saw plenty of wariness and caution when I was out yesterday,” Severus added, thinking that over and wondering about it.“I'm going to go with that it's accurate, if not a tad understated,” Lucius told him, picking up the paper in question and glancing at it again. “The events they are all covering are big enough that two of them are bound to cause panic in and of themselves. Harry's items being found wouldn't, though it has to have plenty wondering. Those that were fence leaners on so much are probably now sliding off that in one direction or another. With what I know, most probably in the direction of the truth. Fudge is obviously in trouble as his lies are proving to be just that. Of all of it, that's going to cost him the most. In the area of your vanishing, that's going to count more than other parts. He made it clear not to believe whatever and that it was stunt. It's proven that it wasn't, though no one in the media knows the real truth. We won't go into other areas that will come back to bite him. Though my feelings for Albus are clear, as you both know, the fact is that he's been right. That's going to show as well before long.”Drumming his fingers on the table, Severus' brow was furrowed as he glanced around at the papers there. Thoughtfully, he asked, “How long do you think it'll be before Fudge is out? I'm not you with the education in this area, but even I can see the foreshadowing of the end. He's done too much to mollify the masses and keep his job when he's coming up proving he lied about so much. That or hid the truth without out and out lying. Then there is the fact that he had fair warning from plenty of areas. That won't help.”Thinking it over, brow drawn down as he did, Lucius sighed, “If the Dark Lord doesn't make a bigger move than he already has, I would give it a month. If he makes an overt show of his return, less than that. Any show by the maniac is going to find Fudge out on the seat of his robes with the masses howling for his head.”“We need him out, fast,” Severus said, looking dour. “The longer he's in office, the more power the Dark Lord can gain and give him an advantage that will be harder to counter,” he imparted.“A correct assessment,” Lucius nodded. “One those in the political arena should be pondering now. That is if they have a self-preservation streak of any kind. Most of those were around for the first war and know how bad this can get. The same signs are here now and it's being proven that there was probably covering up done. That won't help. In this case, we just have to wait to see what's coming, nothing more. I doubt there is anyone that can do much to nudge it.”“At least they’re making it clear that Sirius couldn't have had anything to do with this mess,” Harry grinned, glancing around then leaning back in his chair and petting Kaliya, who had draped over his shoulders. “I wasn't sure if Fudge would try there.”“I think as bad as he made everyone sting and Wormtail being in custody confirming everything, only a fool would have done that. Even Fudge isn't that big of one. Not only would it have ended up refuted with plenty of proof, but I'm sure your godfather's solicitor would have been down at the Ministry howling so loud, Ireland would have heard him and winced at the level of it.” Lucius imparted, looking amused. Sobering up, he shook his head and added, “Even Fudge has to know that his scapegoat for so much is gone and is sweating because of it.”Leaning back himself, crossing his legs, Severus asked Harry, changing topics, “Did you get the box information to your godfather?”“I did,” Harry told him with a vigorous nod. “He's actually quite happy about it and planning on getting an owl today. He said he has a ton to send all of us and he doesn't have any idea of when he can get over here as they are so busy with all of it coming in. So, he said we can start expecting stuff today if he can manage to get out. From what he explained, Remus is going to take the owl outside somewhere away from Grimmauld Place so no one gets suspicious and send it off that way.”“Good,” Lucius nodded, happy with that and wondering what all Black had for them. He was sure, with all that was going on, it was plenty. What he wasn't sure of was how helpful it would be. However, any information at all on the situations would be most helpful in keeping themselves up to date on what was going on.Leaning forward and clasping his hands on the table, Severus said, “We're going to give you the day off from your studies, unless you want to work on something like the dog. I would suggest that you just find something to do to relax.”“Is there a reason for that? Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just curious,” Harry asked, grinning slightly.“Not only are we starting on those mirrors you suggested, but the map and other areas. As that's going to take plenty of research, we thought a day off wasn't remiss,” Lucius explained. “Most of it isn't something you can help with as you have no experience in they areas and wouldn't know where to look. We have at least an inkling. Once we know what we're looking for, we may bring you in to help. We aren't sure yet. On top of that, I'm calling in elves from all my properties to give them instructions on keeping an eye out for troublesome people showing up. As they are elves, the instructions need made very specific for them to know what they are doing. That's going to take more time. It's best that we not concern ourselves with lessons and take a day to work on needed areas so we can get as much in place for protection as we can.”“Understood,” Harry nodded. Then he grinned, “I'll let the two of you take that on as I'm clueless what to do. It sounds like a good day to muck about on the broom and swim to me.”“We may come outside to do part of it as it's too nice of a day to stay cooped up, but you're on your own for entertaining yourself. I don't suspect that's an issue,” Severus snorted, shaking his head.“Nope, I'm self-entertaining,” Harry grinned. “Me and the snakes can find plenty to do outside, don't worry about that. If we get too bored, we can make a few rounds around the perimeter of the property to keep an eye out.”“That would be most helpful and something we should all get in the habit of doing now,” Lucius admitted, pleased with that idea. “We'll make it a mission for all of us to do that if we get bored. It can only help, especially before we get something up that's workable to keep an eye on the surrounding areas. If you see anything off, send for an elf to deliver a message to us. I don't anticipate that, but it's better to be cautious than end up being blindsided.”“Will do,” Harry assured him with a nod, already planning out what he wanted to do with an extended day to loaf around. There was plenty he could entertain himself with and planned to do just that.
“Is something troubling you, Harry? You don't seem like you're sleeping as well as you normally do when you're out here,” Kaliya observed as he stretched across his young man's sun-baked back under the umbrella. They were lounging by the pool, of course, after mucking about in the water. Nagini was inside with the other two as she liked to nap draped over Lucius' shoulders.
“I'm fine,” Harry sighed, shifting around slightly. Giving an amused snort, he admitted, “I'm used to using Lucius' thigh as a pillow when he's out here. It might not sound like the most comfortable thing in the whole world, but it's something I've grown accustomed to. So, I find it a bit hard to nap out here not doing that.”Giving a hissy chuckle, Kaliya said, “I think Lucius will find that quite amusing as well. Though he hasn't actually said it, I do believe he likes being your pillow. He seems to take enjoyment running his fingers through your hair as you sleep. Well, if he's not napping himself that is.”“He does?” Harry asked, decidedly intrigued as that played, at least a little, into the attraction that was there, making part of him, what he considered the irrational thoughts, wonder if there wasn't more to it than just his end.“He does,” the snake confirmed, resting his head on Harry's shoulder.“Interesting,” Harry admitted, pondering that. He wanted more details, of course, so he could try to dissect them, but didn't want to ask either.Sensing the quickened heartbeat from his young man, Kaliya was curious about what was going on. There was no reason for it that he could understand, such as the standard reaction from fright. It seemed to come from the topic of Lucius as it was normal before that. Now he wanted to understand. “If I may—what is going on, Harry? It stays between us, of course, as always. I noticed your heart rate increased when we discussed Lucius. Is it fear or something else? I don't sense fear, so I'm slightly bewildered by what might be bringing this on.”Groaning, Harry buried his head in his folded arms. He had forgotten that snakes could sense plenty they couldn't and didn't translate his reaction to something that Kaliya could sense. Now he didn't know what to say or how he would start to go about explaining it.Now more curious than ever, Kaliya tried to figure out the response his young man was having. Normally, Harry was fairly open about most topics with him. This closing off had him slightly wary, wondering if it wasn't something 'bad' in some way. “I'm now concerned, Harry,” he admitted. “What is bothering you? As I said; it won't go beyond us.”“It's nothing to worry about,” Harry mumbled, not lifting his head. “There's nothing 'bad' about it. Just something I have to deal with on my own, that's all.”Thinking over what Harry said, the snake was now even more confused. Though he was plenty articulate, humans, and the way they thought, were far more advanced than even the most intelligent of their species. He prided himself on being smarter than most of his kind, but would admit that his three companions were far more intellectual than he was with a more complex thought process. Then you coupled in their advanced emotions, and he was sometimes left lost. And he wanted to understand. The more he understood, the more he was able to cope with so many situations. “I would like to know,” the snake told him softly. “I'm concerned, though you tell me I shouldn't be. That and I worry about you. It shan't go any further, Harry.”Groaning again, Harry huffed, not sure what to do or say. He didn't want Kaliya on edge about anything, of course, or have him worry, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to explain it to him either. Then there was also the thought that, maybe, if he talked it out, he could stop what was going on or push it aside. That he would like to do before it affected so much. Shaking his head, he wasn't sure what to do.“Please,” Kaliya said softly, hoping that would be enough. Harry was becoming stressed about the question, something he could easily tell, and didn't want to cause more problems by asking questions. He wanted to comprehend the situation, though.Shaking his head, Harry sighed. Shifting slightly, though not enough to disturb the snake on his back, he grabbed his wand and cast a privacy ward, one Lucius had taught him. Flopping back down, he said, “Your word that it goes no further and then I'll talk about it.”“My assurances,” Kaliya stated once again, now highly curious. Slithering off Harry's back, he curled up beside him and looked at him intently, waiting.Looking down, unable to look at the snake, he began to talk about the attraction with as little detail as possible and getting through it as quickly as he could. Shaking his head, he sighed, “It's probably just the hormones and I'll get over it at some point. I don't know.”Thinking over what he was just told, the snake's tail twitched as he did, trying to sort through it. After a few moments, he said, slowly, “That may be the case, yes. I am not well versed in the nuances of human attraction, of course. It is also, perhaps, just an extension of what's going on, the protection, just aided by your growth spurt. I don't think it's anything to worry about, Harry. Even if it is a real attraction, I don't think it is anything to be troubled by, either. You could do far worse in that area than Lucius, after all.”Snorting softly and grinning, Harry shook his head then said, “Kaliya, he has a son the same age as me. I somehow think he might end up horrified by the thought! Not to mention I don't think others would take it well either.”“Well, yes, that is an issue. I concede that,” the snake admitted, with a soft chuckle. “Keep in mind, though, you are no longer biologically your real age. That would lend to such areas as well.”“That might be,” Harry said with a groan, rolling on his side. Propping his head up on one hand, he said, “I'm still that age, though. That would derail almost anything for anyone, no matter how I look or that growth spurt. I was in the same grade as Draco, something Lucius knows well. On his end, that would cause all manner of problems. So, this is something I would much rather keep to myself.” He wasn't going to mention a word about the attraction to Snape either. Though the issues there weren't exactly the same, they were similar. Add in the fact that Severus was same age as his parents, and attended classes with them, and that might end up worse.“That I can understand,” the snake admitted. Then he began thinking, wondering if, maybe, because of how well that bond took and what they could do with it so far, if there wasn't more to this attraction than what met the eye. Harry might be willing to admit to the attraction to Lucius, but he was now curious if there was more to this than just Harry. And he wanted to find out. It could explain plenty.Slithering back up on Harry, Kaliya draped over his back again then said, “Thank you for explaining. It won't go any further, my word.”“Good,” Harry said with a sigh as he got comfortable once more, shifting around slightly and shutting his eyes. “Plenty else to worry about, that a mess like that doesn't need to come in.”“Very true,” Kaliya admitted. However, he vowed to get with Nagini to see if there was anything she noticed from Lucius' end, without saying anything about Harry's, of course. If there was, maybe, between the two of them, they could make it work. He would see, though.
Flopping down at his normal table after coming in from the pool, Harry looked between the other two wizards, who were hard at it, and asked, grinning slightly, “Any luck?”
“I'm having plenty,” Lucius said smugly, setting aside his notes. “Severus, on the other hand, isn't getting very far. I believe that by tomorrow, I'll have this together enough to start applying the spells. We should have something workable. Then I'll start helping Severus. At the moment, as he's the only one of the two of us that knows what he's looking for, it's best he take it on. He has some of what he needs, thankfully, so by the time I'm done, he should have enough for me to help.”“Good,” Harry nodded, relaxing, leaning back against a chair, stretching out his legs. “I took a walk around and didn't see anything. Kaliya said he didn't sense anything either, so we're good so far.”“Perfect,” Severus said, leaning back in his chair, crossing his legs then taking a sip of his tea. “We need to make that a habit from now on. I don't think it'll be hard, honestly. For now, we do it just so it becomes one. As this heads further south, we need that in place so we do it without thinking. It can only help, even after we get both of these up and working.”Nodding at that, vowing to remember as it didn't take him long to tend to that chore, Harry groaned as he shifted around. Then he asked, “Anything else I need to know about? Or just research?”“Just research,” Severus smirked. “Nothing at all exciting. We haven't heard anything from Black or Lupin through the post box, so I assume they are either busy or that there is nothing earth-shattering to pass along, just bits we need to know for other areas. Which, for us, is good. I think most of what we needed to know came from the papers this morning. If that's all that's there, other than to just keep us abreast of developments, we're fine.”“Good, less stress,” Harry grinned, going back to sipping his butterbeer. He planned to just relax in here where it was cooler for a time, then go back out to start mucking around again. It wasn't often they gave him time off, so he didn't plan to ruin that by working on anything if he could at all help it!
Perched on the edge of his bed, naked, Lucius was feeling disgusted with himself as he cleaned the evidence of his self gratification off his stomach. It wasn't the act that brought it on, of course, as he had performed that countless times over his life, just who he was visualizing during it that was appalling. Harry. Guilt curdling his stomach, he was giving himself a sound beating over the head for allowing himself to fantasize about someone his son's age while wanking. It hadn't started there, of course, but had switched. And that left him feeling ill with himself.
Finished cleaning up, he quickly tugged his pyjamas on before Nagini returned then curled up in bed. Groaning, he shut his eyes and gave himself more mental floggings over what he had visualized while performing the act. While he felt guilty over it now, the fact was that during the wanking, he was more excited than he had been for a long time now when it came to the act. There was something extremely arousing about Harry. And that made the guilt worse as he couldn't seem to shake that feeling, no matter what he did, visualized, whatever, to make it stop. It just pressed on. Including dreams that left him waking up with an erection that would make any teenager in the throes of adolescence proud. This needed to stop, that's all there was to it. He just didn't know how to do that! Nothing worked, no matter what he tried. Nothing even diminished it. In fact, the more time he spent around Harry, the worse it got. And that didn't help matters any at all because of how long they were looking to stay holed up together. Being logical, he realized that he could probably only hide this for so long before either Severus or Harry realized what was going on. Either of them figuring it out was nightmare worthy. It was just—he couldn't make it stop. And, if he were honest with himself, he didn't want it to. There was something about it so supremely exciting that he adored the dreams and visions, though he didn't appreciate the guilt they brought on.Shaking his head, he gave a sigh then snuggled down into the bedding, slipping the cool silk sheet over him and getting comfortable. It was his hope that sleep would come quickly so that he didn't lie here dealing with the myriad of issues over this problem. He wasn't counting on it as it was something weighing heavily on his mind, but he hoped. As he was older and the orgasms took more out of him than they used to, he hoped that he would manage quickly, but didn't count on it. After all, guilt was a powerful emotion. And this issue brought on more than most anything else had for some time. That would factor in.Shifting around to find the 'sweet spot' he sighed, trying to relax and empty his mind. It didn't work, though. All he kept envisioning was that lanky body and those green eyes. He was in for a long night, that's all there was to it. It was something he should probably resign himself to now and find a sleeping draught. He wouldn't, though, as that would be the easy way out. Which meant he had to deal with it. Not good.
