Chapter 4
Leaving Harry and Ron to their chess game, Hermione left the common room for the dungeons. Her heart was pounding, and she was feeling increasingly nervous. She wasn't really sure if she wanted to find Severus or Lucius there. Certainly, finding Severus would mean that things were okay, and there was no need for concern. Of course, knowing him, he would reprimand her for being in the dungeons, and she wasn't sure she wanted to deal with that.
Finding Lucius down there would bring a whole other set of problems. There was the overriding issue of why he was here. Intellectually, she knew that he had to be here for nefarious purposes. Otherwise, why the deception? If he was there for legitimate business, there wouldn't be any reason for the polyjuice. And with his ' and Severus', she reminded herself ' connections with Voldemort, it was likely that he was here on some sort of Death Eaters' business. Common sense would suggest that she might accidentally find herself involved in something over her head, and that staying away from the dungeons would be the best choice.
Of course, there was the other problem with finding Lucius down in the dungeons. Would there be a replay of yesterday's 'meeting' or would he dismiss the whole idea of another encounter. And which one would disappoint her more? Gods. She had dreamt about him. Her body craved his touch, the adrenaline shot through her body at the possibility of seeing him, of having him, and yet she knew she shouldn't even be thinking along those lines. He was old enough to be her father. He was fighting against the Order. He supported the creature that had tried to kill Harry. And yet she wanted him. Badly.
Swallowing hard, she knocked tentatively on the potions' classroom door. No answer. She waited a few moments, her heart pounding in her chest. She knocked again, louder this time. Still no answer. Hesitantly, debating the wisdom of her actions, as her pulse throbbed in her temples, she went to Severus' office and knocked on the door. Again, no answer. She waited a little longer, knocking once more, before turning and heading back to the portrait of the Fat Lady. Unidentifiable feelings washed through her; she wasn't sure if she was disappointed or relieved.
Harry and Ron were still bent over the chess board when she got back. She forced down the desire to talk to them about this whole situation. They'd definitely be interested in Lucius' presence here, but there was no way that she could tell them about it without explaining more. Like why she hadn't told them yesterday. Or what she was doing when she discovered that Professor Snape wasn't really Professor Snape.
She sighed. She'd have to take the risk and talk to Lucius if she saw him again. Right now, she decided, the best approach was to wait and see if Severus started carrying around a blue vial again.
Settling in bed for the night, Hermione let her mind drift back to the night before. She was still a little shocked at what had actually transpired. And yet, burned in her brain was the image of a naked Lucius Malfoy casually standing in the middle of Severus' office, his long hair tousled, his face still flushed from their recreations, a smug but pleased smile on his face. She smiled at the image; she didn't think she'd be able to look at Lucius ' or Draco for that matter ' for some time without immediately visualizing Lucius that way.

Hermione could barely contain herself as she headed to Potions on Monday. She had heard Ron justifying her excitement to Harry by saying that she like Potions a little too much, and was clearly 'mental.' She smiled secretively. Mental was an understatement at this point.
Walking into the dungeon classroom, Hermione eyed the desk for a blue vial, but saw nothing. She studied Severus directly and was met with a ferocious scowl. Observing him throughout the lesson, Hermione decided that this was most decidedly the Original Severus.
She resolved to talk to him after class, and hung back as everyone else filed out of the classroom. 'Professor. Is everything alright? I mean, you didn't seem to be quite yourself on Saturday.' She trailed off, hoping that this would elicit a useful response.
The dark-haired man's eyes widened briefly in surprise before they narrowed perceptibly. The rest of his face remained blank. 'I am a busy man, Miss Granger. I do not have time for inane questions today. Please find someone else to bother.'
Hermione nodded and picked up her bookbag. One thing was obvious; this was definitely Severus Snape and not Lucius Malfoy. However, she still wasn't certain as to whether he knew about Lucius 'filling in' for him Saturday night.
Leaving the classroom, she considered the two possibilities. The first was that he was well aware of Lucius' presence. If that was the case, it was likely that Severus had been off acting in some capacity or another with the approval of the Death Eaters. Which led to the question of whether he was still loyal to them. Sure, he professed to be a spy for the Order, but wasn't it also possible that he could be spying for the Death Eaters, instead? True, he hadn't given any outward indications that he was spying for them, but it was a possibility that couldn't be ruled out.
The other possibility, of course, was that Lucius had been at Hogwarts without Severus' knowledge. If that was true, though, wouldn't Severus have seemed more surprised at her comment that he didn't seem like himself? Maybe he really did know about Lucius being there. Her stomach sunk as a horrible thought stuck her: if Severus knew that Lucius was there on Saturday, did Lucius share the complete events of Saturday night. Oh gods. That would be all she needed ' for Severus to know that she had tried to seduce him. And had been somewhat successful. Sort of.
Damn. Damn. Damn.

Lucius tossed a sheaf of parchment on his desk and removed his glasses, briefly pinching his nose. There was no concrete evidence as to whether Severus was a spy. His gut told him that something wasn't right, but he couldn't tell what. His brief stint as Severus on Saturday had given him time to look through some of his papers, but he hadn't learned anything useful. Other than that the Head Girl had specific interests in her Potions master.
He smiled. That had been enjoyable. And it had been a long time since he'd had a willing virgin. True, she might not have been as willing if she had known from the start who it was, but she had been willing nonetheless.
Using polyjuice had been an interesting experience, actually. He had never taken someone before when he was physically disguised as someone else. Death Eater robes had concealed him on numerous occasions, but he had never been wearing someone else's skin. He smirked at the empty study. It had never occurred to him that he would have a new sexual experience at his age. And unlike he'd suspected, it was not at all like having sex while wearing waterproof robes.
Maybe the fact that it was something new was why he kept reliving the experience. She had been so ready for him ' obviously she had been thinking about Severus for some time. And the look of horror on her face had been priceless. He hadn't planned on turning back into himself before she left. That had been an accident of bad timing.
He had planned on simply letting Severus decide what to do with her the next time they met. But the shocked look on her face had been well worth it. And he hadn't lied when he told her that he had enjoyed it. He had. More so that he had even expected.
And that was why he was not surprised when he found himself going through the events in his mind. Certainly, he'd always enjoyed the physical release that sex gave him, but he'd never spent much time dwelling on it after the fact. At least not since he had been 15 or so. Now bodies always blended together and nights blurred in his mind. And yet he could remember every single detail of his encounter with Hermione, and he wanted more.
Hermione. He laughed. He had only known her first name because moments before he had been leafing through a stack of tests, and had noticed that she was the only one to have received a perfect score. Even Draco had been less that perfect on that one.
She had been thrilled when he used her first name. Obviously, she thought it was Severus, and it was doubtless the first time that he had called her by her first name. No, he decided after a moment's reflection, it was clearly the first time. Nevertheless, what had she seen in Severus that made her interested in him? Certainly his old friend had never been known for his looks, pleasant demeanor, or general appeal to the opposite sex.
Undoubtedly, Hermione was unaware of her Potions master's involvement with the Death Eaters. Because no woman ' at least no virgin, he amended ' would willingly offer herself up to a Death Eater. Unless, of course, Severus was a spy, and she somehow knew that. That might explain her interest in him. He'd have to pursue that angle further.
Without a doubt, she knew of his own relationship with the Dark Lord. A brief stint in Azkaban, as well as the extremely public subsequent departure of his wife had assured that. Admittedly, bribes to the Ministry has restored his position, and had resulted in a written apology as well, but he had a feeling that Hermione was not one to accept the words of the Ministry at face value. A wicked gleam came to his eye. How must she be feeling now that she knew that she had lost her virginity to a Death Eater?
Perhaps he should pay her another visit.
Unzipping his slacks, he stroked himself to release, imagining his next encounter with her.

A/N: Sorry for the very long wait on the update here. Things have become rather hectic at work, and ski season has started, and so between the two events, I have been pressed for time, and haven't had much of a chance to get things done on this. I have found a beta, Redsugg, who has provided some brilliant ideas, great encouragement, and is willing to read through stuff. She has motivated me to get my butt in gear and get something done here.
Lucius' Booksheleves is not done, but has suffered from the same problems as this story - no time to write, no time to edit, etc. I will be getting back to it when I get the time.
Just a note about this Lucius - he is a little out of character, but I was sort of in the mood for a slightly nicer Lucius. If you like it, cool, if not, I'll be back to Lucius' Bookshelves in a while!
