Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: I pushed the rating up to R because of some
violence. There's not a lot of Snape in
here but the next chapter there will be. >;) And as always, I don't own Harry Potter or its characters.

Chapter Five
Another Death
He knew he was dying.
He could feel the life draining out of him as his blood turned
cold. But he couldn't die just yet
because he knew he had to warn her. It
would the last thing he did before death dropped the final curtain on his life.
The floor below him felt cold as he pulled himself over
it, struggling to travel the six feet to his desk. Held hld hear his breath catch in his throat as his heart beat
slowed. Only another foot and he would
be there. He laughed to himself when he
felt his hand wrap around the oak leg of his desk.
He slowly reached up and pulled down a piece of
parchment. His action caused a bottle
of ink to fall and shatter before him.
With a shaking hand, he dipped a finger into the cool ink and wrote out
his dying message on the parchment. She
would know now and would be able to defend herself. And with a smile on his face, he closed his eyes and thought of
her as he took his last breath.
~*~
The front door of the house slowly opened as the group of
aurors stepped inside. Someone had left
an anonymous message with the ministry that morning that a group of Death
Eaters had been spotted going into the house.
And from the mess before them, they knew something awful had happened.
"Let's split up," grunted Moody as he turned to
the rest of them, "And be careful."
All of them looked at him before deciding who would go
where. Jordan stepped out of the foyer
and walked toward the living room, with Tonks following her. "They didn't say who lived here?"
asked Jordan as they stepped over a chair that had been knocked over.
"No. The note
didn't say much," said Tonks as she ran her hand through her blue
hair. She walked around the living
room, her wand drawn as she eyed a group of pictures that were hanging from the
wall. "Looks like it was a
family."
Jordan turned around and glanced at the pictures, not
really seeing them, before stepping around the corner. She came upon a long hallway that contained
several doors. "Tonks, want to
come with me?" she asked, knowing that a Death Eater could be hiding in
one of the rooms.
"Sure," said Tonks as she turned away from the
pictures.
Jordan waited until Tonks joined her before continuing
down the hallway. Her mind was racing
with different spells and charms, just incase they did run into a Death
Eater. She was surprised when Moody had
told her that she'd be coming with them and she didn't want to disappoint any
of them.
"Empty rooms," said Tonks as they started to
pull the doors open. Every room, so
far, was completely empty.
"Maybe whoever lived here left before they showed
up," shrugged Jordan as she pushed open the last door in the hallway. Inside sat a bed and a dresser.
"Or maybe not," muttered Tonks as they walked
in. They looked around the room before
Tonks pulled open the closet. She eyed
the row of clothes before she pushed them aside to make sure nothing was hiding
behind them. Once she was satisfied
that nothing was in there, she closed the door.
Jordan watched her for a moment before kneeling beside the
bed and looking under it. There was
nothing there so she slowly stood and looked around the room. That's when the picture, which was sitting
on the bedside table, caught her attention.
From where she was standing, she couldn't make all of it out, but it seemed
familiar to her.
"What's wrong?" asked Tonks as she watched
Jordan creep over to the picture.
Jordan narrowed her eyes and let out a small groan.
"No," she whispered as she picked up the
picture.
"What is it?" asked Tonks as she walked up to
Jordan and looked at the picture. She
didn't see anything out of the ordinary about it; it was just a picture of a
man, woman and a little girl.
"This can't be happening," said Jordan as she
quickly dropped the picture.
"What's wrong?" questioned Tonks for the second
time. Jordan shook her head as her
hands started to shake. And before
Tonks could say another word, Jordan ran out of the room and down the hallway.
Jordan could feel her throat tighten as she started to
fling random doors open. She wanted to
scream but each time she'd open her mouth, only gasps of air would come out. She could feel beads of sweat form on her
forehead as she ran toward Moody and Lupin's voice.
They were in the house's study, leaning over a lifeless
body. Jordan looked at the body and
felt her legs give out from under her as she fell to the hardware floor. Moody turned and looked at her as she
struggled to crawl over to the man that was lying before them.
"Get her out of here," he growled to Lupin.
Lupin went to her and wrapped his arms around her waist as
he tried to pull her up but her body stiffened. "No!" she screamed as she broke away from him, "I
have to help him."
She stumbled forward, her shoes slipping on a puddle of
blood as Lupin grabbed the back of her robes.
"You can't Jordan," he quietly said, "I'll take you back
to headquarters."
"No!" she screamed again as she slapped Lupin
across the face. The force of the slap
made him stumble back, which freed Jordan from his grip.
She fell toward the body and landed beside it. She scrambled to her knees as she looked
down at him. "It's ok," she
cried as she pressed her hands against the bloody wound on his head, "I'm
here now and I'll make sure you get help."
"Jordan... he's gone," said Moody.
"Shut up!" she screamed as she held her hands to
his head, "He's not gone!"
Tonks stepped into the room and stood by Lupin as they
looked over at Moody. None of them knew
what to do. "Come on Jordan. Get up," said Moody as he reached out
for her.
"I can't leave him," she sobbed as she looked
down at the man, "Its ok dad. I'm
here now and I'll get you help."
"That's her dad?" whispered Tonks as she looked
over at Lupin. He nodded his head and
looked over at Moony. They knew they
had to get her out of there.
"Jordan," said Lupin as he stepped forward and
kneeled beside her, "He's gone. There's
nothing more we can do."
"He can't be gone," cried Jordan as she looked
over at Lupin.
Lupin reached out and took one of her bloody hands into
his. He slowly ran it down to Simon's
neck and pressed it against the vein.
"He doesn't have a pulse," he quietly said.
Jordan nodded her head as more tears started to fall. She leaned forward and placed her head on
her father's chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat that wasn't there. She then quietly let out a soft sob as she
clung to his body. "I knew this
was a bad idea. He should have told me
where he was. That way I could have
saved him. But he didn't because he
wanted to protect me and now he's gone," she cried.
Lupin carefully reached out and placed a hand on her back,
which made her tense up. She sat up and
pushed his hand off her before standing.
Every emotion known to man was now running through her blood as she
quietly stood over her father's dead body.
She tightly clenched her jaw as she balled up her fists.
"I hate this!" she screamed at the top of her
lungs as she started to claw at herself, hoping for some kind of release. She needed to feel for her entire body was
now numb.
"Stop," said Lupin as he grabbed hends.nds. She looked at him before placing her hands
over her eyes. Her entire body started
to shake as she started to cry. Lupin
placed an arm around her and pulled her close.
"Tonks, go back to the house and tell them what
happened. And see if Molly can make
something to settle her down," ordered Moody.
Tonks nodded her head and quietly left as Lupin tightened
his hold on Jordan. She continued to
cry as Lupin and Moody looked at each other.
Moody stepped away from the body and began to look around the
study. He looked down toward the floor
and saw the parchment lying there.
Moody picked it up and held it up in front of him. The only thing written on it was the name
Alexander. He looked over at Lupin and
Jordan as he cleared his throat.
"Do you know someone named Alexander?" he asked.
Lupin felt Jordan's body tense up as she tried to step
away from him. "Why?" she
asked as she looked at Moody.
"The name is written on this parchment I found over
there," said Moody as pointed.
"Alexander is my uncle. He attacked us a couple of years ago and that's why my father was
hiding. You probably already know the
story," said Jordan without any emotion.
"Yes, I'm aware that he escaped," said Moody as
he nodded, "We were expecting him to return but not this soon."
"I can't believe he did this. Just because of blood. Just because my father wasn't pure and my
mother chose to love him," cried Jordan.
"Shh," whispered Lupin as he held her against
him.
"We better get back," said Moody, "We'll
send someone to pick up the body and then you can make the proper
arrangements,"
if]>
Jordan nodded as Lupin led her out, with Moody following
closely behind.
~*~
The steps to her room seemed a lot longer as Jordan
quietly climbed them. Lupin stood
beside her and helped her as they stepped up onto the top landing. Moody had instructed Lupin to make sure
Jordan didn't hurt herself since she had slipped into an eerie silence.
"Want to take a shower?" he asked as they stood
by her door. She only nodded and
stepped toward the bathroom. He let her
go in by herself but stayed close to the door.
She stepped inside the white stall and let the warm water
wash over her. Using a brush she had
found, she scrubbed the blood off her hands as she thought back to the night
her mother died. "No," she
whispered to herself, "The night you killed her."
She wanted the pain to end as she slid down the side of
the stall. Jordan looked up at the
water that was streaming down and began to wonder if she could drown herself in
it. She shook her head and stood
up. Drowning would take too long.
"Jordan," came a voice, "Are you ok?"
"Y-yes," she said as she turned off the shower
and stepped out, "Give me a few minutes."
Jordan stepped onto the soft rug that sat by the
stall. She looked over at the fogged
over mirror and wiped it off before looking in it. "I hate you," she whispered to her reflection,
"This is all your fault because you're weak."
"Jordan..." came the voice again.
"Just give me a bloody minute," she hissed ahe phe pulled on her clothes. She went to
the door and opened it and sighed.
Lupin was gone but Snape was standing there.
"I have something here that'll make you feel
better," he said as he handed her a glass. She looked down at the liquid and shook her head.
"I don't want it," she said as she stepped
around him and went to her room. He watched
as she went inside and started to rearrange the room.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"I don't know," she whispered, "I can't
believe this happened. My father was
always the strong one and now he's gone and I'm next."
"You don't know that," said Snape as he stepped
inside and shut the door behind him.
She looked up at him and smirked.
"I know I am.
Alex wants revenge on all of us.
I'm sure he went there to try and find out from my father where I was
and he died protecting me," choked Jordan.
"If he's a threat, maybe you should leave and
hide," suggested Snape.
She shook her head.
"The hell I will," she hissed out, "I'm not going to let
Alex get away with this. He's nothing
but a cocky bastard."
"We'll find him," said Snape as he placed his
hand on her shoulder.
"I know," she quietly said as she looked up at
him, "I'm tired and I think I want to sleep."
"Then sleep," said Snape as he stepped away from
her.
"Could you please stay? At least until I'm asleep?" she asked as she slid back on her
bed.
Snape nodded as she got under the covers. He pulled a chair up de hde her bed and she
slipped her hand into his. And he
watched her until she fell into a light sleep as he thought of his own revenge
against the man that had caused her pain.
A/N: Poor Jordan :(
But I'm sure she'll be ok with Snape on her side ;)
