(Harry's P.O.V)
I wake up grinning and it takes my mind only a minute to register why I am so happy at this hour of the morning. " Harry? Harry! Wake up! You have to see this come on!" Rubbing the sleep from my eyes I look up at the excited face of Neville Longbottom. "What is it Nev? Did Seamus try to sleep walk naked into the girls dorms again?" I ask curiously as he drags me out onto the small landing at the top of the stairs where we find Dean and Seamus (fully dressed I'd like to add) standing and peering down into the common room. A small noise causes me to look at the opposite side of the landing at Lavender, Pavarti and Ginny, who have snuck up to us and are giggling behind their hands. Shaking my head I peer down at what everyone is looking at and I feel my jaw drop.
Hermione and Ron are looking at each other awkwardly, as if neither one knows exactly what to say. Dean looks up momentarily to look the girls over, they are trying hard not to giggle as they crawl over the small distance in their night shirts, Lavender smiles shyly before she accepts Seamus's offer of his lap. Pavarti doesn't avert her eyes from the scene as she slides into Dean's lap and I can't help but lift a brow as Ginny snuggles into Neville's lap, causing him to blush so bad that it makes him look like a tomato. "I-I I guess I should start by telling you I do love you" We all stare down at Ron and Hermione once more as she begins to speak.
"I guess I said it because I thought you wanted to be with Lavender" She has her eyes trained on the floor, but I look up briefly as Seamus kisses the aforementioned girls cheek. "Why though? Why didn't you just tell me that you liked me?" Ron asks, his arms crossed at his chest. As Hermione looks up we can see tears leaking down her face. "Because I was jealous of all the girls you were chasing. You know I loved you then, as I do now. But she has everything I don't, she knows when to shut up, she has the body, she's not a know it all" She is sobbing violently now. Ron steps forward pressing two fingers against her lips. "It's alright. I know, I understand." Shaking his head he sighs and wraps his arms around her waist. "You want me? You want to be with me?" I can see Ron flushing red as he realises the double meaning behind his words.
"Uh! I mean-you want to be my girlfriend?" Hermione nods slowly, and leans forward to rest her head against Ron's shoulder. "Yes, that's all I ever wanted." I am grinning now as Ron tilts her head up to place a tiny kiss on her lips. "That's all I want 'Mione" Still crying, she laughs gently. Lavender, Pavarti and Ginny spring up and clap loudly, bolting downstairs to pull a surprised Hermione away from Ron. Seamus, Neville and Dean follow after the girls at a slower pace but I merely stand at the top of the stairs. Finally once congratulations are said everything goes quiet and all eyes are on me. Hermione makes the first move by walking towards me, with a gentle but happy smile at her I begin to walk down to meet her halfway.
"I just know this has something to do with you; always have to play the hero. Thank you." She whispers in my ear. Nodding I hold her tightly, trying hard not to let the depression I am feeling ruin her moment of happiness. When we pull away she leads me down the rest of the stairs so that we are standing in front of Ron, our hands clasped. "Ron. Harry is my best friend. You two used to be so close, both you and I love him like a brother. If we're to be together. I need you to at least be civil. I'm not asking for things to go back to the way it used to." She unclasps our hands and the nervous tension fills in the air again as everyone steps back to watch us; well mainly Ron because he looks rather lost right now.
"Look, I know I was a complete and utter prick Harry, but I do want things to go back to the way they were. It will take some time I know. But-" by this point I am grinning again. "Come on Ron, let's not get all gushy! And besides. I have to get showered and dressed to meet-" I trail off and Ron looks away. "Draco?" He says in a distant voice, I nod and turn to walk up the stairs; but a hand on my arm prevents me from going too far. "Look, it will take a lot of getting used to but I -am- happy for you." His voice is strained now, but it's clear he means every word of it. "Thanks mate. Now go gush over 'Mione so I get go get dressed will you? There's a good boy" We both chuckle and I am allowed to go upstairs. It shocks me a little as I realise the bounce in my step is not due to the fact things have finally worked themselves out. But because I am about to see my mate again.

I can hear them all talking jubilantly down in the common room as I enter the dorm and stride purposefully to the shower. Stripping quickly I step into the stall, moments later the water pours down on me, warmed magically. I tend to the normal showering duties, shampooing and conditioning my hair and then rinsing it out. A quick but thorough wash up, but I take five minutes to enjoy the warmth, bracing my arms on the wall I roll my shoulders back with a satisfying 'pop'. The water feels wonderful as it cascades down my back, the warm stream relaxing my muscles greatly. I turn the taps off and wrap a fluffy orange towel around my waist; whistling softly I walk into the dormitory and rummage through my trunk to find a suitable outfit for the day. "You do know we wear robes don't you?" Ron asks as I pull on a pair of loose fitting black pants. "Yeah, but as they say, it's what's underneath that counts." I wink at him as I pull my green satin dress shirt on and button it up. Ron chuckles as I pull my robes on over my clothes and shove my socked feet into my black shoes. Tying my hair back into a loose ponytail, I shake my head slightly so my fringe falls out to frame my face nicely, afterwards I turn to look at Ron. "What do you think?" I ask him nervously, hoping I look at least presentable. "I think you're bonkers mate, that's what I think." He says laughing at his own joke. Throwing him my sexiest, hottest 'come here and get me' bedroom eyes I slowly approach him. "Oh Ron, you know you want me!" He pales quickly and sprints from the bedroom. " 'Mione! Help me!" I hoot loudly and sprint after him, taking the stairs two at a time. I find Ron hiding behind Hermione; who is looking confused as I slide to a halt on my knees.
"Ron! You left me! Don't you love me anymore?" At this everything seems to fall into place for Hermione and she casts a look over her shoulder at her rattled boyfriend. "He loves the attention, it's just a game. Play along." She whispers to her wide-eyed lover. "Ron? I do believe Harry was talking to you." She says a little louder now, noticing we are attracting a nice sized crowd. "Oh! Harry, I uh-you must understand, it just isn't working for me." He says wrapping his arms around Hermione's waist as he stands up. "How could you Ron! I-I.." Pretending to sniffle I rise to my feet and walk to the portrait. "I thought you loved me!" I say in the best-hurt voice I can muster. "Oh off with you, go find your mate" Hermione says after a moment. Winking at them both, I bounce out to do just that.
***
I casually stroll towards the great hall, my hands in my pockets as I whistle merrily to myself. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the golden boy of Gryffindor" I turn quickly at the mock drawl and am greeted with empty air. "Where are you?" I ask the thin air curiously, another thing to add to my list I guess. 'Harry Potter: Boy who lived, talks to snakes, and to thin air. "Talking to yourself now Potter? What, the rest of the Golden Trio ditch you?" I whip around to see Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle. "No. I heard Draco but-" I eye the three of them warily. Unsure of where I stand with them. But relax a little when Pansy giggles behind her hand and it sets off Crabbe and Goyle, they begin to guffaw helplessly at me. "It's really not that funny." I say pushing past them, my face flushed with anger and frustration.
"Now, now Potter. No need to get snappy." Growling I turn around, greeted by the sight of the three Slytherin's, but still no Malfoy. Smiling evilly I raise my nose slightly and sniff the air. "Forgot about that didn't you?" I say loudly to no one in particular. I know he can hear me though, Picking it up, I follow Draco's unique scent to the empty corridor. Hearing him squeal softly as I walk along the hallway. "Uh huh" I exclaim pivoting and gasp as I find him pressed against the wall, his eyes lowered shyly.
Walking up to him, my heart beats faster than the wings on a snitch. He is so stunningly beautiful it takes my breath away. "M-Morning" I stutter, placing my hands on the wall beside his head. "Morning yourself" He whispers. I lean forward a bit more, repressing the urge to smother him in passion; instead I rest my forehead on his, giving him nowhere to look but up at me. "I love your eyes" I whisper breathlessly, bringing a gentle blush to his pale features. "They remind me of winter, so innocent and pure. Even if it only lasts for a few months. But in your eyes, it lasts forever." God, when did I get so mushy? But you know what? I don't care. "Really Potter?" He whispers, tilting his face up slightly. " I see forests in your eyes, lush green fields. I feel born again every time I get the chance to stare into them." I grin at him as he rolls his eyes. "See what you do to me Potter? I'm acting like a girl" I nudge his chin with my nose and chuckle. "I don't see why that's an issue Dray, I honestly don't mind." He slaps my arms playfully, and I take the chance to grab his waist and pull him close so our chests are pressed together. "Potter" His tone is warning, but his eyes betray him of the raw lust and want he is feeling. "I wanted to ask you something" He says wrapping one of his arms around my neck and placing his other hand open palmed on my chest. "Oh? And what was that?" He buries his face in my shoulder in a sign of embarrassment. "Why-why didn't you kiss me last night? I mean, when we were saying goodnight?" I look down at his silver blonde head and smile in delight and surprise.
"Look at me Draco." I say softly, but he doesn't look up. "Come on, look at me. Please?" Finally he lifts his head slightly, but his eyelids are lowered so that he is looking at me through the lashes. "Is that what you wanted? Did you want me to kiss you?" He doesn't speak, but I can feel his grip tighten slightly around my neck. "I didn't want to rush things, we've been enemies all this time. And-" He looks at me completely now and smiles. "But this-" He tightens his grip once more. "-This changes everything Harry. We're together forever now. So we have to put everything behind us." He lowers his eyes again, but continues talking. "I did want you to kiss me a little I guess." the rosy tinge has returned to his cheeks, and I give in to the urges that are testing my sanity. Leaning down I place feather light kisses along his cheeks, kiss the corners of his mouth and continue on to kiss his other cheek. I pull back and smile, Draco's eyes are closed and his breaths are coming in tiny gasps.
"H-Harry" He whines softly, pushing forward slightly. "What Draco?" My hands are running in fervent circles on his back, and I am resisting painfully not to kiss the pale neck before me. "K-kiss me?" He whines, arching forward. "Little kisses?" I tease kissing the corner of his mouth again. "N-no..." He pants softly trying to turn his face into the kiss. I lean in to grant his request happily, but just as I am not even a centimetre away from his parted lips Pansy calls out to us. "Get your ass out here Malfoy, we're missing breakfast and the other two from the golden trio are coming." Growling in to Draco's neck, I sigh and allow him to pull away from me. "I'll see you in potions alright?" Furrowing my brow I catch his arm. "I thought you were going to sit with me and 'Mione?" He shakes his head and walks out to Pansy. "Not today Potter" He whispers to me softly, quirking a curious brow as Ron and Hermione walk up to us hand in hand.
"Well, it looks like the Weasel isn't as dumb as I thought." Oh great, back to sarcasm. "Shove it ferret face." Ron hisses, leaning forward to grab my arm. I have just enough time to wink at Draco before I am dragged off unceremoniously to the great hall.

"Look I know you don't like the idea. But I can't help the fact that if I am not at *least* looking at him, I go nuts. So please, can we swap sides?" I plead with Ron (Who is glaring openly at the Slytherin table) "Fine. But just so you know, I won't tolerate any goo-goo eyes, If I see you starting you'll be wearing my porridge." Hermione claps a hand over her mouth to prevent her giggles as she and Ron switch sides with me. I sigh happily now that I can stare openly at my mate and begin to eat. "Hey guys? who's that?" I look up at the doors Hermione is pointing at to see the headmaster walk in. " It's the head master Herm'. You remember him don't you?" I say sarcastically, wanting to go back to my Draco watching.
She throws me an angry glare and points to the door as a short woman walks in She has waist long hair that sits about her face elegantly, her eyes shimmer in an unique shade of blue. "Well, she's definitely new cause I've never seen her before." Ron states as we watch the pair walk to the head table. Silence reins the hall as Dumbledore raises his hands. "Good morning, I do hope you've rested for today's impending lessons? I am sure you are all curious as to who this lovely new woman is." We all share a glance and then look back up.
" I am honoured to present to you all, Professor Star, she will be teaching Defence against the dark arts." The hall seems to become pin drop quiet before it bursts into unexpected applause as Professor Star stands up, smiling brightly. "I may not be another Professor Umbridge-" she is cut short as the applause grows to ridiculously loud levels. "-But I will try my best to make sure you are all happy in my classroom." Confused I look around, I am one hundred percent sure I just heard Draco's voice. But that can't be right, he's on the other side of the hall. Not even looking at the new professor. My eyes grow in shock as I hear him again.
~ Please don't let him hate me ~
Hermione and Ron ask me what's wrong, I tell them quickly and Hermione looks at me in surprise. "Why would I hate him?" I ask her curiously, she shakes her head and looks over at the Slytherin table.
~ I don't know if I can handle this, he has a right to know ~
"What do I have a right to know?" I whisper looking at his lowered head.
~ He is going to freak when he finds out. God, I have to tell him ~
"What am I going to freak about?" I am beginning to get frustrated at my mates lack of details. He lifts his head and we stare at each other.
~ But how do you tell someone who has lost almost everyone he loves that the new Defence Professor is his godmother? ~
Ten seconds fly by and it registers exactly what I've just heard. "WHAT?!" I yell, shoving myself up from the table. I look up the woman who my mate has just called my godmother. "Harry what is it?" I vaguely register that Hermione is trying to get me to sit down, but my shocked gaze is travelling between Draco and Professor Star. "Mr. Potter? Is everything alright?" The headmaster calls down to me, my eyes narrow as I stare back at him. "No sir, nothing is alright. Apparently hiding things from me is a game you like to play." With that I storm from the hall, pissed off isn't the word I'd used to describe my mood. Livid, or irate would be more accurate. Within seconds of exiting the great hall, Hermione and Ron are at my side- followed by Draco and Pansy coming from a darker passageway. Probably don't want to be spotted, I think numbly. "What is it?" Draco asks me softly, his hand resting on my forearm. I yank it from his grasp and glare at him. Opening my mouth to tell him exactly what is wrong when the doors open to reveal Professor's Dumbledore and Star. "You want to know what's wrong Malfoy?" I hiss glaring at the four of them.
"YOU" I point to Draco. "Could have told me she was my godmother" I turn to face Dumbledore who looks crestfallen, "YOU could have told me she existed." And now I face my 'godmother'. "And YOU could have been there for me!" I am visibly shaking now, and once again I am shocked to find it is because Draco is so close and I am not touching him and not because of my current state of emotion. "I think it best if we go to my office. Miss Granger, Miss Parkinson, Mister Weasley and Mister Malfoy would you please go on to your first class?"
I smile weakly at Ron and 'Mione as they say goodbye and walk off hesitantly to potions. "Draco will be present." I snap, screw the fact that Dumbledore might not like it. "Certainly Harry." Pansy shoots Draco a look, and Draco nods. With that she jogs off to catch up with Hermione and Ron so they could walk to Potions as a group. "Right this way, I dare say we have a fair bit to discuss." I storm ahead of them, not quite ready to act as the excited teen I am, I want them all to feel guilty that they've kept me in the dark.
@
Everyone else is sitting in chairs, but I remain standing. "Harry, I am curious as to how you found out about this" I look at my mate, who is refusing to look at me. "When the Professor was introducing herself, I could hear Malfoy's voice in my head. He was saying that he hoped I wouldn't get angry, and then he said she is my godmother." Draco gasped at finding out that I heard his voice in my head. Dumbledore, however, simply looks amused. "You heard mister Malfoy in your head?" He asks, looking at me in scrutiny.
"Yes sir, I did. Is that a problem?" My gaze to the headmaster is level and challenging and he shakes his head. "No, I will have to look into it though. It does seem odd that you were able to intercept Mr. Malfoy's thought patterns. But I wouldn't rule out the fact that with his desire to be honest with you, he became distressed and projected them to you subconsciously." Well, thank you for sugar coating that. "Back to business if you don't mind, my link with Draco is not the subject at hand. Why was it you felt the need to keep the fact I have a godmother away from me?"
I can't help being angry, I mean; both parents dead, I watched people I love die, and now Sirius is dead and to top it all off, I now have a godmother who didn't want me to know she existed! Doesn't that just put the icing on the cake? "Please, Harry. Sit down?" I look over at the Professor as she speaks. "I'd rather stand thank you." It doesn't seem to faze her; she just continues to speak. "Harry, I was in the year below your mother. She and I were really close, but after I graduated I became an unspeakable." She pauses only slightly to correct her posture. "So you understand why I couldn't tell anyone where I was, what I was doing or whom I was with. One day your mother sent word of her engagement, and I made the appropriate arrangements to attend the wedding, making sure to remain out of pictures and I didn't sign any wedding books. After a short while your mother sent me another letter saying she was expecting, and would I like to be the godmother." I frown as Professor Star wipes away stray tears. "Well, of course I was hesitant at first, who wouldn't with my line of work? I had no idea when I would get around to seeing you after you were born." "She did inform me that Sirius was to be your godfather, that's when I knew I could accept the rights of being your godmother. Because I knew if anything happened, Sirius could take care of you until I got there."
I wince every time Professor Star says 'Sirius' it still hurts me to know he is never coming back. "I knew he was innocent Harry, that was why I couldn't come for you when he was taken to Azkaban. I was detained with fighting to clear his name." I slowly slip into the chair next to my mate, unaware that my hand has tracked down his and entwined our fingers. "But I'm here now Harry. I won't leave you, I know I should have been here before but I'll be here now." I swallow noisily. A family? Draco. Hermione. Ron. This woman? Wait...
"I never did get your name" I say quietly, meeting her gaze. "Ariana Star." She says simply, moving forward, I know these motions. I meet her halfway and she envelopes me in a hug. "Harry, I loved your mother dearly, and I'll be damned if you grow up not knowing what love from a mother is like. Even if Molly Weasley has taken you in with the rest of her brood." I smile at her and hold her tight. This woman may be a stranger, but she was my godmother. "Well, I think you two boys had best be off to class and Harry, if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to come to me or Ariana alright?" I nod and accept Draco's hand. "Thank you Professor's." I turn slowly, stunned with all this information, and walk out with Draco close behind.
@
Three feet from the Potion's classroom, Draco stopped and because our hands are clasped together, I have no choice but to do the same. "What is it?" I ask confused. He shrugs slowly and pulls me to him. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you" Is whispered into my shoulder. "Don't be a prat Draco. They asked you not to tell me, that couldn't be helped. But I'll love you no matter what happens, just promise me one thing?" He looks up at me and our noses touch. My eyes narrow slightly, and in a deadly tone I say. "Never lie to me again." He nods slowly and I begin to close the distance between us. "Mr. Potter! Mr. Malfoy!" We jolt apart at the sound of this angry, slimy voice. "Sorry Professor" Draco squeaks, and wide-eyed bolts into the classroom. Snape and I share a glare before I too walk inside.
*****************************************************
After quickly and quietly explaining everything to Ron and Hermione I set to work on my potion and then sit back to think, my gaze falling on the back of my mates head, a large grin spreads out on my face. He has finished his potion and is scribbling something down onto paper, I wonder if it's for me. He looks up briefly, feeling my stare on the back of his head and smiles. I point to the letter and he looks away, but I can see him mouth the word 'Father' My insides turn to ice. How can I be such an idiot! How naïve can I get?! How could I have forgotten about Lucius Malfoy?!
