Chapter 5

James paused for a moment and then hurried out the door and started searching for his boyfriend. He had no idea why Sirius had gotten upset and run off, but James was determined to find his best friend and find out what was going on.
Thinking while running, James came to the conclusion that Sirius was most likely somewhere outside. Whenever Sirius was upset about something, he usually went to the quidditch pitch or the lake.
James made his way through the corridors without anyone bothering him. Quickening his pace, he dashed out of the main entrance and across the lawn to the quidditch pitch. Finally, James came to a halt and tried to catch his breath. He looked all over the pitch, but there was no sign of Sirius anywhere.
Grunting in frustration, James started running again, this time with the lake as his destination.

Sirius slowly pushed a few stray locks of hair out of his eyes and leaned back against the wall. As soon as he had scurried away from James, he had made a mad dash for his own bed and quickly closed the curtains around him. He cried for nearly ten minutes before finally calming down and nervously looking out the window.
Sirius honestly felt guilty about running out on his boyfriend, but James' actions had scared him because he was reminded of his past. There were several things about his family that he had purposefully kept from James, but Sirius was beginning to think that things might have been easier had he told James the truth several years ago.
Closing his eyes and clutching his pillow to his chest, Sirius eventually drifted off into a troubled sleep.

James sat down on the steps to the front entrance of the school and put his face in his hands. He had searched all over, but he hadn't come close to finding Sirius. Obviously, Sirius had opted to go somewhere completely different…somewhere that James wouldn't think of immediately.
James quickly stood up and nervously bit his lip. What if Sirius had done something drastic? What if he was standing up in the astronomy tower right now, thinking of jumping?
James tugged at his messy hair and hurried into the castle and down the long and winding corridors. As he was making his way to the astronomy tower, he ran into his head of house.
"Would you like to tell me why exactly you are running through the hallways?" Professor McGonagall asked rather sternly.
"Have you seen Sirius?" James questioned worriedly.
McGonagall studied James for a moment with a rather surprised expression on her normally harsh face. She was accustomed to James Potter always trying to get out of things with his creative stories and charming smile. For once, he appeared to be genuinely concerned about something…or someone.
"No, I haven't, Mr. Potter," she finally replied. "Has he gone missing?"
James ran his fingers through his hair and shook his head. "Not in the way you mean, I suppose. It's just that he…well, I mean, earlier…I can't explain. If you see him, please just make sure he's all right."
"Of course, Mr. Potter," McGonagall replied.
James nodded and began running down the hallway again.
"No running, Mr. Potter, or I will deduct-"
James slowed down to a fast walk and then started running again as soon as he had turned a corner. Eventually, he came to the astronomy tower and was both relieved and upset to find it empty. Part of him was hoping to see Sirius there so that he would at least know where his boyfriend was. The other half of him was completely relieved to find Sirius not in one of highest towers in Hogwarts.
Sighing in defeat, James continued walking, this time to the kitchens. On his way there, he ran into Remus.
"James? You look like the end of the world is coming," Remus commented.
James shoved his hands into his pockets and eyed his friend. "Have you seen Sirius recently? I really need to find him, and I-"
"I'm almost positive he's in his bed," Remus interrupted. "Why? Is everything okay with him…with both of you?"
"I hope so," James whispered as he changed his direction and started heading for the Gryffindor dorms. "Thank you, Moony."
"Anytime, Prongs. I hope everything is okay," Remus said quietly as he watched his friend bolt down the hallway. Sighing, he continued on his way to visit his lover…

James softly opened the door and looked around the room. He crept over to his boyfriend's bed and slowly pushed back the curtains. There, curled up with his arms around his pillow, was Sirius.
Smiling in relief, James knelt down on the floor and gently combed through Sirius' hair with his hands.
Sirius' eyes opened slowly, and he sat up as soon as he realized that James was with him.
"I'm sorry," Sirius whispered. "I…are you upset with me?"
James shook his head and just stared at his beautiful boyfriend.
"Will you sit next to me?" Sirius asked.
James nodded and sat on the bed. "Will you please tell me what's going on? I honestly didn't mean to upset you, Siri. I would never do anything to-"
"I know you wouldn't," Sirius said as he embraced James tightly. "Will you just hold me for a while and then I promise I'll tell you what's going on. I should have told you before this, but I…" Sirius voice drifted off as he felt James' strong arms wrap around his tired body.

A/N: Sirius needs to tell James what's going on. Which one of these things happened to Sirius?
A) His father has raped him repeatedly.
B) His father raped him one time.
C) His father and Regulus have raped him several times.
D) His father threatened to rape him and almost did, but Regulus prevented it from happening.
E) Sirius is just plain nervous about having sex.
