I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Family Problems with Shocking News
Disclaimer: Still don't own them ... the goblins were working on it until they got drunk.
Authors Note: So real life is finally catching up to me and I am not sure how often I will be able to update now. I just wanted to say thanks for all the reviews and the helpful hints.
Family Problems with Shocking News
Jareth wasn’t sure which was more amusing, watching the children get farther and farther away from the castle or watching as the one called Sirius lost his mind. His only disappointment was he wasn’t the one to cause it. It was still a mystery as to who had placed the Reverse Intent on him. It could only be a fae or a goblin for it was only a spell known in the Underground. He would be upset that someone from his domain cast a spell on a Topsider but since it fit into his plans so nicely he couldn’t bring himself to be too angry about it.
“Still watching those silly children? One would think that you had nothing better to do.”
Jareth wasn’t surprised by the sudden appearance of a cloaked figure in his study. Banishing the crystal he turned to give the figure a withering look before rising from his chair.
“Morquie, I would say it is a pleasure but than I would be lying. To what do I owe this visit, as far as I know the Unseelie Court is still upset with me.” Jareth was actually glad to see his sister but it worried him that she felt the need to visit him.
“Why dear brother, one would think that the Great Goblin King was a snob with that welcome. Maybe I won’t share what information I’ve overheard about your new pet.” Morquie pushed back her hood revealing a petite woman with light green eyes and a mane of wild reddish-blonde hair.
Jareth knew his sister well enough to know that she was more amused than anything else. Meaning that what news she had wasn’t bad news rather news that she found interesting.
“Ah, So I am to understand that the Courts already know about him. It is a pity that they could be so informed about the wizarding laws. So, tell me sister dear, just what have you heard that caused you to visit me when you know I have Topsiders to deal with?”
A small smile played at the corners of Morquie’s lips. She walked to the arm chair by the fire and proceeded to make herself at home before answering Jareth’s question.
“Are you really planning to keep the boy?” Morquie created a crystal of her own showing the sleeping Severus, “What is so special about this one Topsider that you are ready to risk complete expulsion from both courts and possible life as a muggle.”
“You do not have any right to see him, as you should know from Goblin law.” Jareth didn’t like the way this conversation was going. He especially didn’t like the way his sister was staring at his pet.
Morquie sensing the shift in her brother’s mood expelled the image of Severus from her crystal. Turing to regard her brother for the first time she noticed the dark circles under his eyes and the uneasiness in every line of his body.
Trying to lighten the mood she joked, “What do we care about goblin law? Neither one of us is goblin. I just want to know why he is so special for you to act so out of character.”
Once the word left her mouth she realized her error as Jareth completely closed off. She had only seen him this tense during his trail and sentencing.
“You may be correct that we are not goblin but you fail to remember that I am the Goblin King. Therefore, I must obey and enforce the laws of goblins. Including keeping all information about Topsiders wished away private.” Jareth hated fighting with his sister but knew that he had to make her understand. He needed her to help him in the upcoming hours to insure Severus would get to stay, “Morquie playing naïve will not work so do not try my patience.”
“Very well, I understand and will try to behave in the future,” Jareth wasn’t fooled for a moment he could plainly see the mischief written across his sisters face, but he had gotten her word was would have to do. “Oh, and before I completely forget, seeing as I have such a bad memory, I’ve heard talk that your pet has Fae blood in his veins.”
“That isn’t possible. We would have known about it or he would be with one of the courts.”
“That is what I thought. Then I happened to over hear Pasven telling Tulibon about Cresnena.” Morquie paused to give her brother time to digest the information she just gave him. Well, that and she liked to annoy him by only give bits and pieces of a story instead of tell it all at once.
Jareth raised an eyebrow at this. He had never heard of Cresnena before but he knew that if Pasven was talking about her she had to be pretty high up in the Unseelie Court. Pasven was the court messenger and he heard all the gossip of both the Unseelie and Seelie Courts.
“Go on I would love to hear what that old gossip said that was so convincing that you just had to break Fae law and show up here.”
“Still worried about me I see. Don’t worry about me. I have all the legal matters in that regard taken care of. And to answer your question Cresnena was maid in waiting to Lady Wesla before she was caught in King Luci’s bed. Thus she was banished to the Topside stripped of her magic and with child.”
“You mean to tell me that she willingly slept with the Wizard King knowing full well that she could be sent away at any time if caught? Once more you tell me that the child she and Luci created is Severus?” At Morquie’s nod Jareth sank back into his chair completely bewilared, “This changes everything.” Morquie could only nod at the understatement.

After only two hours the marauders were no closer to their goal. If they wanted to be completely honest with themselves they had lost an hour when Wormtail had gotten lost and ended up with a worm and his wife. He was fine of course and had even found another way into the labyrinth. Although, by the time the others had realized he wasn’t with them they had to turn around and back-track. Now that they were finally into the actual labyrinth they were hopelessly lost. It seemed that magic didn’t work or at least human magic for they had seen some pretty wild things so far.
“Sirius, tell me again why we don’t just leave you here alone? I mean in all honesty this is your fault.” James wasn’t trying to be mean but it was starting to wear on his nerves how Sirius would run off ahead of them and then impatiently wait for them to catch up. He was starting to wonder if he was still being affected by whatever it was that first made him utter those condemning words.
“You know what James if you guys want to leave I might actually be able to solve this bloody stupid maze and still have enough time to be in bed before lights out!”
Remus decided at that moment to be the voice of reason he had a feeling that if he didn’t step in soon there was going to be a physical fight. “Look we are all angry and upset that we have to run this maze like rats (he got blank looks all around at his muggle reference) but we have to do it and the sooner we work together the sooner we can beat this, grab Snape, and return to normalcy.”
“You don’t get it do you? None of you get it!” James and Remus slowly backed up while Peter scurried into the nearest corner. They hadn’t ever seen Sirius this work up. “Snape is stuck here no matter what we do! On top of that if we don’t at least try the labyrinth by goblin law we can be turn into goblins instead. So forgive me if I seem a bit extreme. I don’t want to spend the rest of my days with only ale and obedience on my mind.” Toward the end of his speech Sirius seemed lose his anger and just appeared melancholy.
“How do you know all of this, for that matter are you sure you know what you are talking about?” James hoped Sirius didn’t take that the wrong way but he was in a slight state of shock.
“Oh I am sure. My father used to work with an Underground goblin. He worked with Gringotts remember? Well, he would then come home and tell me all the stories he had heard at work. I didn’t give the stories much thought at the time but now I realize just how important they were.” Sirius stopped talking with a sigh then turned back to his friends, “I may not like Snape but even I wouldn’t want him to spend the rest of his life at the mercy of the Goblin King, not after the stories I’ve heard.”
The others were speechless but filled with a new resolve. If this Goblin King was as bad as Sirius implied then they had to be the ones to save Snape. With that thought in their heads the Gryffindor golden boys set out to conquer the labyrinth. Little did they know that they had just fallen right into the Goblin Kings plans.

Quick question … do people want to see the marauders turned into goblins or just send them back to Hogwarts to deal with Dumbledore? Leave a review and let me know and let me know if you are enjoying my little story.
