Thankfully,
their strange set up didn’t last long. They heard Ron and Fred before they
could see them, chatting cheerfully about their plans for their last full day
of holiday the next day. When they reached the fire, both of them shut up in
surprise at their guest.
“Hey,
Tonks,” Ron smiled. “What’re you doing here? Everything okay? Hey Teddy!” he
bent to place a kiss on the baby’s head in George’s arms.
“Can I talk
to you in private?” Tonks stood up immediately, moving towards Ron.
“Um, yeah,
sure I guess. Here, Severus,” he handed him the bag of food he was holding.
“Don’t eat my garlic mushrooms. I will
kill you.”
With a
smile, he motioned for Tonks to follow him into their tent, and shut the zipper
behind them to ensure privacy.
“Mind if I
cast a few spells?” Tonks asked, pulling out her wand before he could object.
Ron frowned
as he watched her, seeing her become more agitated. “What’s wrong, Tonks?”
She sank
wordlessly onto the sofa before looking at him properly, tanned and
half-smiling nervously.
“Do you
trust your husband?” Tonks asked him bluntly.
“Yes,” Ron frowned deeper. “Completely. Why?”
Tonks
exhaled. “And if I ask you something, you promise you’ll give me an honest
answer?”
Ron
wondered where on earth she was going, but he shrugged and nodded, “Of course,
if I know the answer.”
“When Remus
spends so much time with you… at your house… are he and Severus alone?”
“Sometimes,”
Ron sat down. “When I’m out or working on something.”
“Do you
trust your husband?” She asked again, her voice wavering.
“Yes, I’ve
already told you,” Ron’s impatience bit in his voice –he hated it when people
questioned his trust in Severus. “Why are you asking me this?”
“So you’d
be confident enough to turn round and tell me that he and Remus haven’t been
together recently in a romantic sense…”
“Absolutely,”
Ron got to his feet quickly. “What are you implying?”
“Remus only
ever wants to spend time with you two,” she got up, her voice a little
desperate. “And I’ve tried to see it as just friendship but I can’t, knowing
what went between him and Severus. I don’t understand how they can stand to be
around each other?”
“They’re
just friends,” Ron said firmly. “I don’t know what you think is going on, but
when Remus visits us all he ever does is spend time talking about you, and
thinking about your relationship.”
Tonks
looked at him unsteadily. “Do you promise me that, Ron?”
“I do,” he
said instantly. “He never shuts up about you. He loves you. He just finds the
situation very hard.”
“And what
situation is that?” Tonks looked at him defiantly.
Ron exhaled
and swallowed. “He finds it hard that you provide for him, and Teddy. He hates
that you’re spending so much time at work and, in his eyes, missing seeing your
baby grow up. But then that’s nothing new, apparently. Severus said he’s been
like it ever since he was at school.”
Tonks sank
down onto the sofa and bowed her head slightly. “I just… I’m at a loss of how
to help him,” she breathed. “Do you know, Ron, how hard it is to love someone
who’s still in love with somebody who’s dead, no matter how much they repeat
that they love you?”
“Actually,
I do,” Ron sat down next to her, biting his lip, and her head snapped up.
“What?” She
asked, subtlety clearly absent from her conversational skills in her distress.
“How much do you know of Severus’ past?”
“Very
little.”
“Well. I’m
not going to tell you what isn’t your business to know…” Ron said firmly. “But
our situations aren’t far different, apart from the fact that Severus has had
far longer to learn to cope with his bereavement than Remus has, and that was
why we were able to develop our relationship. His love had mellowed and I was
able to barge my way into his heart. Much like I imagine you’ve done to Remus.”
“Oh,” Tonks
gulped at the air. “Remus always implied that he was a bit of a tortured soul
but never explained why…”
“Well, now
you know. But it’s different. Sirius is still too close to the surface for him
to be buried enough yet in Remus’ mind, I think.”
“So what are you saying, I was a… a rebound marriage?” Tonks gasped.
“No,” Ron
shook his head. “I know he really does love you, but he’s failing to cope with…
with loving you both. Do I make any sense at all? Like, he is still in love
with Sirius, because lets face it… they were what, sixteen? And then he went to
Azkaban at twenty one… Remus was alone believing that he’d been betrayed, and
then Sirius was back for two years, where they instantly picked up again… and
then he was dead, gone for good. That’s a lot for someone to cope with. And
then you showed up, young, and feisty, determined to love him… Severus told me
something once… that Remus just wants to be loved. And you were there loving
him, so he loves you back.”
Her face
looked like he’d just thrown a bucket of icy water over her, and then tears
started to fall. He took her hand and held it softly. “He does love you, I know
he does.”
She shook
her head and tears flew off her cheeks. “We had a massive fight before I came
here… He was saying that he didn’t think he didn’t think he could do this
anymore if I didn’t understand what he was going through. Of course I said I
couldn’t… I thought he was coming to yours to… to…”
“Sleep with
Severus?” Ron’s mouth fell open.
“But he
maybe meant what you said…” she closed her eyes. “I am such an idiot.”
“He should
have explained this to you,” Ron murmured. “You’re not a mind reader.”
“He never
talks about him,” Tonks burst out. “How was I… oh, I suppose that should have
told me. Oh god, I’m such a stupid cow.”
“No you’re
not,” Ron said firmly. “You’re not. But you should go back, right now, and talk
to him. Before this misunderstanding gets any further… Make him explain to you
his feelings for Sirius.”
“But I
don’t know if I can… I don’t know if I can compete with a dead man, Ron. Or if
I want to.”
Ron looked
at her and blinked a few times. He could understand her reluctance, but maybe
he was just too naturally caring to be able to entertain the idea of leaving
someone in as much need as Remus.
“I know you’re judging me,” she said quietly, more tears spilling down her
cheeks. “And you’re right to. But I’m not even thirty and-”
“Remus
tried to put you off loving him for a long time,” Ron reminded her. “Why do you
think he did that?”
She fell
silent and gulped at the air a bit, eyes on the rug. “Because he didn’t want to
hurt me.”
“And you
must have had some inkling that he didn’t just mean his issues on the full
moon?”
She nodded
and sniffed. “I did.”
“Look,” Ron
put his hands on her forearms. You should go and tell him all this, ask him
questions, tell him what I’ve told you if you want. And if things don’t go the
way you want them to, can you promise me you’ll get him to apparate here, to
us?”
Tonks got
to her feet with a tearful nod. “Oh, Teddy-”
“We’ll look
after Teddy until you’re back to collect him,” Ron said firmly, knowing she had
left her baby bag outside in the camp. “Go on.”
As he
spoke, there was a massive rumbling of thunder overhead and the sudden rush of
rain hitting the round, followed by manly shrieking outside, and the tent gave
a violent wobble. Tonks threw her arms around Ron and was gone as soon as she
pulled away. Ron quickly unzipped the tent and peered out into the torrential
downpour, glad to see nobody still sat around the extinguished fire. He stood
looking out at the rain, thinking back on his conversation.
The thought
of Remus and Severus being together romantically behind his back made his
stomach turn, but he didn’t believe for a second it had happened. On Severus’
behalf, at least, he knew there’d been too much hurt to go back, no matter how
much Severus tried to pretend it was just two years of casual sex. Ron
definitely knew better than that. The rain got harder and started bouncing back
up off the floor where it hit. The overwhelming need for a hug rose in his
chest and he looked doubtfully at the rain. He could see the warm glow of light
from his brothers’ tent, far enough away that he’d be completely drenched
trying to get to it.
As much as
he wanted a hug, though, he also realised he’d quite like some time to think.
He sank down in the entrance, sheltered by the tent, watching the rain fall. It
was starting to flood on the ground and was creeping towards him.
“Shit,” he
muttered, and pulled out his wand. Carefully aiming, he managed to raise the
tent by making the floor thicker, like blocks, and made it waterproof so the
water wouldn’t sink in and rise.
He twiddled
his wand in his fingers. Severus never
mentions Lily to me either. Does that mean he’s still in love with her? He
knew this was a dangerous thing to do, let himself be swayed in his own
relationship by patterns in others. But Remus and Severus had such similar
history it was hard not to consider it, not even just a little bit… And if they wanted to re-ignite their flame
they weren’t without opportunity…
“You’re
just scaring yourself,” he said aloud, firmly. “There’s nothing going on
between them, even Tonks seemed to realise that.”
He breathed
in and out and concentrated on watching the rain pour from the sky. No. He wouldn’t do that to me. Not after
everything we’ve been through. He might still love Lily, though. But it’s not
my place to ask him to stop… if he even could. Ron chewed on his bottom lip
in thought. If he still loves her now,
it’s not proved to be a problem in our relationship until now… until I started
sitting here considering it, that is. He exhaled at that.
The rain
was showing no sign of letting up, though the surface water was sinking into
the parched ground. He stared in the direction of the other tent, wondering if
someone was looking back in his direction through the rain.
Severus sat
gently cuddling Teddy to his shoulder.
“Merlin
this storm is really something,” Charlie watched out of the tent flap. “There’s
lightening over the sea, I think.”
Another
deafening crash of thunder reared above them and Teddy began to cry. Severus
re-arranged him in a more protective position and said, “Where the hell is
Tonks? I have no idea how to stop a baby from crying in a storm like this.”
“We can’t
use a silencing spell,” George rubbed his hand over his chin. “That might scare
him even more.”
“This is
ridiculous, I’m going to apparate over to our tent,” Severus stood up, handing
George the baby.
“You can’t
apparate in here, it’s old and got loads of protection on it. You’ll have to go
outside,” Charlie looked dubiously into the rain.
“Fuck it,”
Severus muttered.
“I think
he’s falling asleep,” George rocked him in his arms.
“What is it
with you lot and your amazing baby caring powers?” Severus hissed. “I clearly
lack the ability.”
George sat
down as another peal of thunder crashed and the rain started to belt harder
again.
“Oh fuck,
we’re flooding,” Charlie exclaimed.
It was two
hours before the rain died down enough for the clearing to become properly
visible again. Ron had curled himself up and watched the whole of the storm
alone until that point, when he got to his feet. He returned his tea mug to the
kitchen and washed it up. He was about to leave to run to the other tent when
he heard a soft pop behind him.
“Oh, thank
Christ, d’you know how lonely it is here by yourself?” he spun round, fully
expecting to see Severus, dry because he was too lazy cross the clearing in the
rain.
But he
actually found himself face to face with Remus, red-eyed and pale.
“What
happened?” Ron asked automatically fearing the worst, that they’d fought and
Tonks had declared everything over.
“I just
came to get Teddy,” Remus raised a hand. “Dora and I… we’re okay. I think. I
hope.” He gave a little desperate shrug. “We haven’t talked it out fully yet
but we couldn’t leave Teddy with you for so long, he must be confused.”
“He’s in
the other tent,” Ron walked to the tent flap. “We’ve had a huge storm for about
two hours. The others’ll have him safe enough.”
“Ron… I
need to thank you.”
“What for?”
he frowned.
“If she’d
never come here… she might never have known what I truly meant.”
“Surely you would have told her?”
Remus
swallowed and shrugged. “It’s… too painful to talk about him. Look at me, I’m a
mess. And I only talked because she forced the issue, like, I presume, you told
her to?”
Ron blushed
and looked at the floor.
But he was
surprised when he found himself in a crushing hug, unable to move. The pressure
made his ribs roar into life and he groaned in agony. “Remus, my ribs-”
He was
released instantly and he stumbled, hand flying to his ribs to try and rub them
asleep again.
“Sorry, I
can’t even do that right…” Remus muttered despondently.
“Look,
let’s go and get Teddy, and then you can go home and keeping talking. Don’t
stop now.”
Ron pushed
his way out of the tent and jumped between the largest puddles easily with his
long stride. He heard voices as he neared the glowing tent and called out. The
flap opened and Severus came out to meet him, looking concerned, and when his
eyes fell on Remus, confused.
“Ron, what’s going on?”
“I’ll tell
you in a minute,” Ron flashed him a glance.
“Oh, hey,
Remus,” George spotted him through the open tent flap. “Guess you’re looking
for this!” He bought Teddy out and placed him in his arms.
“Ron, thank
you,” Remus said fervently again. “I needed you… to do that.”
Severus
felt well and truly confused by that, and as Remus disapparated, he opened his
mouth to question him.
“Where are
my garlic mushrooms?” Ron asked aloud. “I’m fucking starving. You better not
have pogged the lot, you bastards.” He ducked into the tent in search of his
food, leaving Severus standing in the rain.
Charlie
looked at him and shrugged. They heard Ron swearing inside the tent in his
search for food, and when he re-emerged, he had a massive lump of brioche
jammed inside his mouth, expertly chewing as fast as possible.
“Hungry,
Ron?” Charlie laughed as Ron swallowed, and raised his hand to shove in another
lump.
“No,”
Severus grabbed his wrist. “Tell me what’s going on before you do that.”
He let go
of the wrist clearly expecting Ron to obey him, but Ron stuffed his mouth full
again and walked off in the direction of their tent, holding the rest of the
food he’d picked up.
“See you in
the morning, I suppose?” Charlie said to Severus, bewildered.
With an
infuriated shrug, Severus turned and followed Ron quickly, the rain was picking
up again.
“Watch as
you step in, had to raise the tent as it was flooding,” Ron’s voice floated
back to him, and Severus did as he was bid.
Inside the
tent he looked around for a hint at what might have occurred there, but there
was nothing, and Ron had flopped down the sofa and was still eating.
“Stop stuffing your face and talk to me!” Severus finally burst out, the
curiosity eating him up.
Ron
swallowed and looked at him. “Can you get me a drink?” He asked oddly.
Severus
blinked. “What?”
“This is
really dry,” Ron indicated what he was eating.
“Tell me
what Tonks wanted!” Severus tried again.
“And I’m telling you I need some form of alcohol before I launch into this
conversation,” Ron told him quietly. “So. Can you get me some please?”
Severus
froze at that, face in a frown. Ron stared at him. He managed to nod and walked
to the tiny camping fridge which came with their tent, and pulled out a bottle
of ale before handing it to Ron and folding his arms over his chest. Ron opened
it and took a long swig before bringing his feet up to rest on the low coffee
table in front of the sofa.
“Tonks came
to see me because she and Remus had a massive fight.”
“Oh?”
Ron nodded.
“She asked me how much I trusted you.”
“Me? What
the hell have I got to do with it?” Severus’ mouth fell open angrily.
“She asked
me if I could honestly tell her whether I thought you and Remus were sleeping
together again.”
“That’s
ridiculous!” Severus protested.
“Is it?”
Ron raised his eyebrows. “Look at it from her point of view. Remus is always at
ours. He must speak about you a lot. She knows there’s history, she jumped to a
conclusion that could be the truth very easily.”
“Ron,
please tell me you don’t think-”
“I don’t,
and I told her as much. I told her when he comes round he never stops talking
about her. And Sirius.”
“What did
she say?” Severus sank onto the coffee table next to Ron’s feet.
Ron
faltered slightly. “She… she told me she didn’t know if she could compete with
a dead man any more.”
Severus
fell as silent as Ron had when he had first heard her say it. Ron was quite
sure Severus was also thinking the same thing he had.
“She knows
that it’s not as simple as all that,” Ron said slowly, tearing off another
chunk of bread. “I managed to talk her through it, give her… some perspective…”
“How do you mean?” Severus frowned, wondering how Ron, at nineteen, had been
able to placate her.
Something
dark shifted across Ron’s face as he looked up at his husband. “You think I
don’t know anything about loving someone who still adores a dead person from
the past, Severus?”
Oh Merlin. Severus swallowed and looked at him,
black eyes meeting blue. Does he think
I’m still in love with her?
“But I
managed to get her to go and talk to him, and then Remus popped up two hours
later… he looked a wreck, so he must have been talking about Sirius,” Ron said
quietly, still holding the chunk of sweet bread he’d never gotten to eat. “I
think they’ll be okay…”
He popped
the chunk of bread in his mouth and chewed whilst looking at his knees,
freckled from all the sunlight they’d caught. Severus said nothing and the
tension built between them.
Ron took a
mouthful of ale and felt it swirl on his tongue as he waited for Severus to
speak.
But Severus
didn’t really know what to say. He was angry that Tonks would assume he was
capable of cheating on his husband, so angry it was making his stomach churn.
But then Ron had floored him mentioning Lily, however inadvertently.
“I don’t
know what to say,” he breathed finally, thinking honesty might be the best
policy.
Ron
shrugged. “I don’t know how I managed to stay so coherent when I was talking to
her. I told her to go home and ask Remus the truth about what he’s feeling. I
assume he told her.”
“When was
that?” Severus murmured.
“About two
hours ago,” Ron drank some more.
“So you
were over here by yourself all that time?” Alarm bells were ringing in his
head. If Ron had been left alone, to think on the conversation he’d just had,
Severus could tell exactly what he would have been brooding over.
“Mmmhmm,”
Ron replied, occupying himself by staring down into the bottle.
“Are you
alright?” Severus smoothed his hand up Ron’s shin.
“I’m
alright,” he gave him a smile, which held none of his usual lustre.
“It’s made
you think, hasn’t it?” Severus whispered. “That you’re not the only person that
I love?”
“I knew
that from the beginning,” Ron said gently. “It’s not a new revelation.”
“You really
think that?” Severus’ eyes flickered up to his and got all the confirmation he
needed from Ron’s returning gaze.
A new crash
of thunder made them both jump and the sound of the rain beat down harder on
the tent roof again. Severus moved to sit next to him on the sofa, taking one
of his hands as he did so.
“You don’t
think that all that we’ve been through might have been enough to make me let
go?”
Ron
swallowed and murmured, “I know you love me, Severus, I’m not questioning your
emotions or your faithfulness here.”
“No,”
Severus said more heatedly. “You are the only
person that I love. And I’m sorry that you’ve been, apparently, labouring under
an illusion for… months, it seems.”
Ron didn’t
reply but closed his eyes. He didn’t want to submit to the relief that was
threatening to wash his body away in the rain outside the tent. He didn’t even
know he’d been that concerned about it, if he was honest.
“I’m going
to keep saying it until you believe me,” Severus said, more softly, and he ran
his hand over the wedding band on Ron’s finger. “Though this… it should have
been enough to tell you.”
“How was I
ever going to ask?” Ron’s voice sounded hoarse as he spoke, eyes still closed.
“How could I ever bring up the subject like that? I didn’t want to hurt you.
And I didn’t want to imply that I didn’t trust you… which discussing it now
obviously shows I have. I’m sorry.”
“No apology
needed,” Severus leant over and heaved Ron into his lap, sending the food and
drink wordlessly onto the table. He wrapped his arms around him and buried his
face in Ron’s shoulder, smelling him.
“When did
you know?” Ron asked quietly, picking up a piece of Severus’ damp hair to curl
around his finger.
“Last
summer,” Severus’ voice was muffled from his shoulder. “Harry’s birthday
party.”
“What
happened then?” Ron frowned, trying to remember.
“Ginny. She
had her hair loose and it has always, always looked just like Lily’s did. But
it didn’t hurt to see it any more. That’s when I knew.”
Ron didn’t
say anything but sank into the embrace a little more and twirled the dark lock
of hair around his finger so it was wound tight and gleamed in the gentle
lights of the tent. He released the curl and, as it was damp, it stayed
relatively coiled. He smiled and picked up another chunk and did the same.
Realising what he was doing, Severus put his head up and looked at the crinkled
ends of his usually straight hair.
“Trying to
tell me my hair’s boring or something?” He smiled, and pressed a kiss to Ron’s
hand.
“No, you
hair is perfect the way it is,” Ron grinned. “Just like the rest of you.”
“Flattery
will get you everywhere, so they say,” Severus raised an eyebrow.
“Ah, but
alas, I’m already everywhere I want to be.”
Severus
laughed and tipped his head onto the back of the sofa, eyes never leaving his
husband’s face, which turned to him and kissed his lips.
“Do you
ever think about her?” Ron asked quietly.
“I…”
Severus paused, thinking on his answer. “I think I think more about my mistakes
concerning her, now, than I think about her specifically.”
Ron nodded.
“Do you ever want to talk about it?”
“No,”
Severus answered firmly and honestly. “I don’t feel the need to, not any more.”
“Okay…
just… if you ever do, I will listen,
you know.”
Severus
simply thanked him with another kiss.
“And, if
you ever want to talk about Remus properly…. Then I’d listen to that, as well.”
“Why would
I need to talk about Remus?” Severus frowned.
Ron rolled
his eyes. “Come on. I know there’s more to that than you’re letting on.”
“I don’t
need to talk about it, though,” Severus shrugged, feeling an ache in his
shoulder.
“Okay.”
“You are
such a strange little creature,” Severus half-laughed, and shook his head.
“You’re far grown up beyond your years… more understanding than most.”
“Why does
that make me strange?”
“Well…
you’re so open and warm and loving. Look at the way other people operate and
tell me you’re not something special that is very rare to find.”
“You have
to say that, you’re my husband,” Ron smiled.
“More than
that,” Severus shook his head. “Remus said it too, and he doesn’t have any
reason to flatter you.”
“I don’t
know… I just take it as it comes. I know I’ve changed,” Ron thought. “I mean… I
was really hot headed when I was younger, just ask Harry, or my family… I don’t
know.”
“I’m not
saying you’re a saint, Ron,” Severus teased.
“I think
it’s because you took a huge chance on me,” Ron looked at the tent roof. “And
I’ve responded to that so you didn’t find yourself regretting your decisions.
Maybe. Who knows?”
“I know
that I love you,” Severus raised his eyebrows at him with a smile. “And that,”
he leant forward and captured his lips again, “That you’re the best shag I’ve
ever had…”
Ron laughed
and tinged pink under his tan. “Too demanding though,” he licked his lips,
thinking back to their squabble about slave role play.
“Not so
much,” Severus shot him a filthy smirk.
He managed
to struggle to his feet still holding Ron in his arms, in the exact way that
Ron had carried him through the water earlier that day. But instead of turning
for the bedroom, he turned to the tent flap and pushed through it into the
pouring rain, getting them both instantly drenched in warm, relentless water.
“Uh,
Severus,” Ron shouted, and in a sarcastic tone continued, “Wrong turn,
darling…”
“No, it’s
the right one,” Severus said confidently, and marched Ron through the rain to
the centre of the clearing.
Both were
beyond wet, even in the short period of time it took Severus to kick through
the grass, growing mud and puddles. He set Ron down on his feet and instantly
pulled him in for a soggy hug and a kiss.
“Severus,”
Ron shook the water off his face. “Are you going to explain?”
With a
squeeze of the redhead’s body, Severus laughed. “What, you don’t like my
attempt at spontaneity?”
“This is
about being spontaneous?” Ron ran his hands through his hair, plastered to his
head, whilst blowing the rain off his lips.
Severus
nodded and put his arms tight around Ron’s waist. “There’s just something about
being out in the rain which makes everything seem clearer,” he whispered in his
ear.
Ron looked
as though he were about to voice a commentary on Severus’ sanity, but he simply
tilted his head back and let the rain trickle over his face as it landed.
Severus
watched as the drops clung to his red eyelashes and darkened hair, and slid
down his throat. Merlin he’s beautiful.
Severus shook his head to clear away the romantic drivel his brain was throwing
out. But he is… Ron’s face tilted
forwards again with a smile.
“So what
next, Mr. Spontaneous? Going to mud wrestle me? Or take me here in the middle
of the bloody campsite?”
“Now
there’s an idea,” Severus grinned wickedly, sliding one hand inside Ron’s
shorts to grope his backside.
But Ron
pulled away and was running in a flash, jumping round the largest puddles,
clearly making for their tent. Severus followed with haste, regretting that
he’d not moved to wrestle Ron to the floor before he’d streaked away. He ducked
through the tent flap and was grabbed instantly in a crushing kiss which
bruised both their lips. Ron pulled back slightly to suck on Severus’ lower lip
with a tiny nip of his teeth which only served to further the fact that he was
already hard and even leaking in his underwear. Severus moved his head forward
and mastered the kiss, pressing his hands to Ron’s back in an iron grip.
“I’m…” Ron
breathed, trying to gasp at the air and speak at the same time between kisses.
“Going… to… take… you… in… the… rain…” he whimpered a little as Severus
returned the favour on his own bottom lip, “More… fucking… often…”
Severus
managed a shaky laugh before he released Ron and sniffed slightly, his hair
dripping down his already wet back. The atmosphere inside the tent was muggy,
even though the air was cooler outside, and Ron pressing up against him was
pushing it towards steamy.
“Shower?”
Severus licked the shell of Ron’s ear gently.
His answer
was Ron grabbing his hand and tugging him further back into the magically
enhanced space, tripping over his feet in his haste.
“Don’t kill
yourself,” Severus rolled his eyes, hauling Ron up off the floor and grabbing
him round the waist and somehow, despite all of his forty years, managing to
throw him over his shoulder.
“Oh my god,
put me down, you’ll break your fucking back, Severus,” Ron was choking with
laughter as he was carried to the bathroom of the tent.
“Give me some credit,” Severus jabbed his
backside. “I have the flattest stomach of any forty year old I know, and I can
carry my husband about. I think that deserves special attention, frankly.”
Ron laughed
again as he was cast back to earth and landed on his feet, throwing his arms
around Severus’ neck for another steaming kiss. He was just about to groan
asking whether Severus was trying to remove his tonsils through non-evasive
measures when the raven haired man pulled away from him, and instead Ron’s
features fell instantly into a pout.
“Don’t pout, you look about five when you do that and it doesn’t help when
you’ve created this in my underwear,” he grabbed Ron’s hand and pressed it to
his crotch.
“What can I
say, I’m talented?” Ron shrugged, and gave a little yelp of delight as he found
himself shoved into the shower, fully dressed, not even having noticed that
Severus had turned it on.
“You’re
meant to take your clothes off in these things, didn’t you know?” Ron blinked
at him with a grin, as water dripped off the end of his nose.
“Oh, I know,” Severus told him. “Thing is, your chest looks absolutely fucking
amazing when it’s got your t-shirt stuck to it.”
And it did.
The contours of his pectoral muscles stood out and the material clung to his
slender stomach, his erect nipples and the hard knobs of his piercing stood
out.
“You’re not
looking so bad yourself,” Ron slid his eyes purposefully down Severus’ body and
back up again, noticing how the material was hitched up and stuck, revealing
some of the aforementioned flat stomach, the soft dark hair flattened against
his slightly sallow skin.
“Muggles
would call this a wet t-shirt competition,” Severus laughed.
“Nah I’m
pretty sure there are boobs involved when it’s a wet t-shirt competition,” Ron
reached out and massaged his hand over the bulge in Severus’ soggy shorts,
which were barely staying up on his hips with the added water weight. “And
we’re seemingly without. Who’s winning, though?”
Severus
leant back against the shower wall and pressed his crotch into Ron’s hand with
a groan. “If I say you will you keep
your hand there?”
Ron laughed
and stepped closer, keeping his grip firm. “Well I don’t think I could look any
more spectacular than you right now… “
Severus
snorted and his face creased into laughter. “Oh my mon petit Weasley, how
little you know…”
“I think we
can safely say,” Ron took his hand away and shoved down his shorts and his
underwear, “That I am anything but little, Snape.”
“Oh, you’re
getting all ‘last name’ on me now?” Severus laughed, and smoothed his hair back
out of his eyes. “Shut the bloody shower cubicle door, it’s letting the steam
out.”
Ron did as
requested, but as he turned back he found himself grabbed and thrown against
the wall, mouth locked in yet another kiss. His jaw was actually starting to
ache and his lips were stinging. He wasn’t going to complain though. He caught
Severus’ bottom lip between his teeth again and pulled the teeth over the silky
skin to the very edge, before kissing again.
“You’re
awfully bitey today,” Severus hissed, as Ron transferred his teeth down to his
neck and teased a groan out of him.
Severus
reached up and pressed one hand to the tiled wall, letting his head fall back
as Ron sucked on the base of his throat. “Christ, you do that much longer and
I’ll…”
Ron
instantly stopped and found Severus’ erection again. “You’ll what?” He said
tantalisingly.
“Nothing,”
Severus breathed and moaned again as Ron began to stroke with his hand, before
sinking wordlessly to his knees, t-shirt still stuck translucently to his body.
An uncharacteristic whimper made it out of Severus’ lips in anticipation.
Ron tugged
down Severus’ drenched shorts and underwear, and instantly drew the freed
erection into his mouth. Considering Severus had been hard since they’d stepped
into the tent, he was getting somewhat desperate, which was why his hips thrust
into the hot mouth and Ron had to fight down his gag. Severus’ free hand found
Ron’s head and submerged into the red hair, holding it in place. He let his own
head fall forward to watch Ron at work with his mouth slightly parted,
breathing heavily.
The feel of
the soft lips on his dick was like nobody else he’d ever known. He allowed Ron
room to slide back and focus on stroking his tongue across the tip and they
groaned together, Severus at the feel of velvet lapping against him, and Ron
purely at how deliciously filthy doing it always made him feel. He groaned
again and ever-so-gently nipped with his teeth, which made Severus cry out with
the pleasure produced by the pain.
“Do that
again,” the command rang from his lips.
Ron obliged
and Severus’ reaction was no different, other than his growl was louder and his
blood filled with what must have been fire. Every part of him was aflame, he
was sure of it.
And it
drove him to grip the red hair tighter than he usually would have. Ron
stiffened beneath his hand, sensing the demeanour change. His heartbeat
accelerated and he wondered if he had managed to provoke the roughness out of
Severus which he often craved, but seldom successfully enticed out of the cage
his husband kept it locked in.
He dragged
his teeth more forcefully, pleased when his hair was tugged even harder and his
mouth fell open around the cock it held to gasp, he even choked slightly.
Severus did not take his hand away and with a triumphant swooping in his
stomach, and his own cock growing instantly harder, Ron knew he’d be having
some seriously rough sex in the next ten minutes.
He washed
the tip of the cock with his mouth and cleaned it of the fluid already oozing
out of it. Surreptitiously, Ron tried to slide a hand between Severus’ legs and
aimed, but he then found his hands bound behind his back and he was completely
powerless over the situation.
Maybe it
should have scared him, considering the sexual torture he’d been submitted to
almost a year previously. Maybe it should have made him hate the man doing it
to him, but as Ron had to tilt his head back to permit the member further into
his mouth, and he groaned, he could only think of how much he loved him and how
much he fucking loved being on his knees for him. It wasn’t like he’d let
anyone else treat him so jaggedly. He swallowed and heard the hiss above him as
his throat muscles tickled the dripping tip of Severus’ cock, and had to fight
back a smile. He didn’t want to think about what it probably suggested about
his mental state.
Above him,
Severus was rapidly losing all sense of control and reserved demeanour. More
growls were ripping out of his throat than were necessary, but he couldn’t stop
them from pouring out of his open lips. His head was still tilted down and he
was watching as Ron sucked at him, dragging him closer and closer to the edge. No. No. I need more tonight.
He pulled
back and Ron cried out at the sudden withdrawal, his head lolling forward as
Severus released his hair, eyes widening at the red strands trapped between his
fingers as he brought his hand up. His eyes snapped to Ron to see if the pain
had caused him distress, but no… Ron was just kneeling, chest heaving, staring
at his own erection. Severus reached down and yanked him up, releasing the
binding on his hands and turning him so he was facing the shower wall, the
stream still beating down on his clothed upper body. Severus smoothed his hand
over the material and found the pierced nipple he knew that was waiting for
him.
If Ron
could have found a more delicious ‘on’ button, Severus would have been shocked.
And good god did the intensified feeling due the piercing serve more than
adequately as an ‘on’ button. He rubbed it between his thumb and forefinger and
was pleased to hear the begging whimper that Ron released to the tiles and
Severus leant forward and latched onto Ron’s neck, gentleness and subtlety
forgotten. He grazed his teeth over the flesh and was pleased to hear more
whimpering, he ground his erection against Ron’s backside and pushed him into
the wall.
“F-fuck!”
he smiled at the obscenity.
“I’m
getting there,” Severus hissed, roughly grabbing hold of Ron’s squashed
erection and squeezing tightly.
“Aah
Sev-erus,” Ron jerked unwillingly into his hand, feeling thoroughly trapped,
and utterly loving it.
With one
hand still abusing the piercing, and his other milking the erection, Severus
put his mouth back to good use on Ron’s neck again, biting, sucking, licking
the creamy flesh until it was red and angry.
“Please?”
Severus heard the quiet plea over the rushing water and thought about granting
the request. He didn’t want the fire to be over, or whatever it was pulsing
through his veins to be gone, but he knew it was burning too hot to survive
much longer, and Ron was begging him.
“Ask
again,” he whispered in his ear.
“Please,” Ron instantly repeated, bucking against his hand.
“Please what?”
“Just
fucking stick it in me,” Ron growled desperately, writhing in his arms with the
sort of strength Severus realised was in his own veins.
Wordlessly
he complied, and managed to shakily conjure enough lubricant with his left hand
to coat his erection. Knowing he hand to move quickly before the water washed
it way, he grabbed Ron’s hips to pull his backside out and kicked his legs
further apart. Ron was moaning and Severus realised he was wanking himself in
the interim, until Severus could return to do it for him.
The sound
reverberated off the small cubicle and made his stomach flip. Without pausing
to stretch or prepare anything, Severus found Ron’s entrance and pushed. Their
joint scream hit the walls as one and Severus angled himself deeper, not moving
particularly slowly. Ron was shoving back at him, hissing in pain and swearing.
Severus was finally able to relieve him of his cock and began to pump it,
firmly and hard, as he managed to bring his hips into a rhythm. Ron either
wouldn’t or couldn’t shut up screaming with want, and it was making Severus
plunge into him even harder, it felt like he was going to cause Ron serious
harm with the intensity of his thrusts. So Severus placed hand on Ron’s chest
and pulled him upright, and then, before sticking his lips back on his neck,
clamped his hand firmly over Ron’s mouth.
The
strangled scream of pleasure was all it took for Severus to be falling, yelling
his own release, and for his erection to spill with scorching temperature. Even
though Ron was leaking over his hand, Severus felt Ron’s tongue caressing the
palm of the hand over his mouth as he groaned.
Severus
felt his body start to tremble and he buried his face properly in the skin he’d
been abusing only seconds before. The water was still beating down and Ron was
shaking beneath him. Neither could muster the energy to move.
“Fucking
hell,” Ron whispered back to him, breath finally slowing down. “Who knew a
thunderstorm could produce that?”
Severus
managed a shaky chuckle and clutched Ron tightly.
“Come on,”
Ron stood up straight, taking the whole of Severus’ weight on his back as he
did so. “Let’s go to bed.”
He managed
to pull off Severus’ t-shirt and then his own, and reached to turn the shower
off. Then he opened the tiny door and shuddered as the cooler air assaulted his
skin. He reached for a towel but turned first to Severus and dried him quickly
and thoroughly. He tousled his hair through the towel and kissed his nose, gently,
before scrubbing it over his own skin quickly, missing half of the wet.
“Bloody
rubbish,” Severus tugged the towel off him and dried him properly, before
throwing it on the floor. “Bed. Sleep.”
Ron grinned
at his incoherency and was proud that he’d had everything to do with rendering
Severus Snape into short, sharp sentences with an undeniably sated glow on his
face.

“You know,
I find it greatly amusing that you all spent a week in France and not one of you used a
single word of French,” Severus grinned as he eased onto the main road, feeling
the drag from the boot of the car due to all the alcohol secreted there.
“That’s
probably a good thing, seeing as the only French I know is ‘voulez-vous coucher
avec moi ce soir?’” Fred snorted.
“Ah, désolé,
non, je dors avec votre frère!” Severus replied silkily over his shoulder.
“Er, what?”
George laughed.
“Ah, sorry,
no, I am sleeping with your brother,” Severus sped up the car to the sound of
laughter on the back seat.
“And don’t
we fucking know it. Silencing spells are a gift to humanity. Please use them
the next time you decide to go at one another like, I can only presume,
animals?” Fred smirked, staring out of the window.
Ron got
there before Severus could, he merely lifted his hand and flipped his finger to
the back seat, grinning. How were they meant to have heard that the rain had
stopped halfway through their session in the shower? And how were they meant to
know their cries carried all the way over to the other tent? Ron didn’t
particularly care. He smiled as the trees flashed past the car window, and
glanced sideways to look at Severus, who was smiling back at him.
“Can I put
in my Abba tape again?” George’s voice rang out from the back seat.
“NO.”
