Chapter Title: Love Gained for a Loss
Harry led the way to the ice cream shop not far from the joke shop while George
and Draco walked side by side. They didn't speak but Harry was determined to do
this task. Harry sat down at an empty table at the shop and the other two
quickly sat down as well. All three of them gave their orders to the waitress
and Harry smiled at the other two. George was looking at the streets with dulled
eyes and Draco was staring at the red-head. Upon feeling someone's eyes on him,
Draco turned to face Harry and raised his eyebrow. Harry began to think quickly
and finally came up on a reasonable topic.
"So, I didn't get to ask you last time we saw each other." George looked over
at the raven-haired young man with his eyes still dulled.
"What?"
"How's the family?" Harry asked him softly, trying to get George to talk about
it to explain it to Draco without being blunt. George's eyes filled up with tears
and he cleared his throat.
"Mum's holding on." Was the only reply that Harry got but the young Gryffindor
wasn't going to give up that easily, especially since Draco's entire attention
was on the conversation in front of him.
"And the others?" A single tear fell from George's eyes before he choked out;
"I don't speak to them anymore." He replied before getting up and leaving. Harry
blinked, that wasn't what he had expected but Draco was already hot on George's heels.
That was one way to do it though that meant that he didn't have anyone to shop with.
Their lunch arrived and Harry sighed as he began to dig into his lonely lunch.
!BONUS! (No sex. That's reserved for Sev and Harry.)
"Weasley!" George finally pulled to a stop as Draco came running up to him. The
blonde-haired man stopped next to him and spent a few seconds trying to catch
his breath.
"What do you want, Malfoy?" George finally snapped and Draco's head swung up.
The younger man gasped as his silver eyes caught George's blue ones. No longer
dulled, the blue was a fiery electric shade and seemed to challenge him. "Malfoy!"
Draco snapped out of it and made a split second decision.
"Do you know anywhere that we could talk privately?" Draco asked quietly and
George stared at him for one long moment before sighing and unlocking his shop.
"We can talk in my loft." George replied before leading the way into the dimly
lit shop. He locked the door behind them and walked towards the stairs. Draco
followed him all the way up the stairs and into the living room of George's loft.
"Now, what the hell do you want, Malfoy?" Draco sighed but walked over to George
and stopped right in front of him.
"This might sound slightly ignorant or hurtful and, if it does, I apologize."
George blinked but nodded before waving for Draco to continue. "What happened to
you?" George's breath caught and the tears came to back to brim at the surface.
The red-head stared for a moment before opening his mouth to speak. Nothing came
out but a croak that didn't even sound like him. He managed to clear his throat
but Draco got closer to him, to where George could smell the spearmint in his breath.
"I want to know, George." George's breath caught again at the use of his first name.
"I know that it might be none of my business but I really do want to know."
"It means nothing to you." George finally managed and Draco stepped foward again.
"It means more to me than you know." The silver-eyed man replied softly and George's
breath caught again. Before he could even stop himself, he found himself telling his
enemy anyway.
"We were never seperated. Never! We promised each other that we would never be alone."
Draco managed to convince George to sit. "Fred was always the stronger one and he
always seemed to know just what to say. I just always knew what he was going to say."
Draco nodded, understanding that somewhat through his new bond with Harry. "And in the
final battle...he left."
"Your twin..?" George nodded miserbely and Draco's breath caught in the back of his
throat. "Oh, George. I'm so sorry." The words were said so softly, George nearly missed
them but he heard them anyway and managed to nod in response.
"Now the only one in my family that can stand the sight of me is my mother. Not even my
own father can bear to see me because I remind them of their lose. How do they think I feel?
I look in the mirror and I see Fred. I look everywhere around me and I see mine and Fred's
work. I keep expecting to see him coming around the corner, trying to prank someone else
but no one's there. And it's so hard to realize that he won't ever be there again and
nobody understands the pain I'm going through." Draco was holding George's hand by the
time he was finished and sighed before clearing his own throat.
"You feel like there's a hole inside of you, almost like someone's taken off with your wand
arm and left you with something you can't use." George's blue eyes were staring at Draco with
shock and confusion in his eyes. "You feel like there's something not right with you, like
you're different than everyone else and there's no one around to protect you or love you as
unconditionally as he did. It's almost like you can't even breath because someone's taken
away your lungs and given you nothing in return. You feel violated and afraid of everyone
around you because you just know that no one understands you anymore." George's tears were
falling faster as he stared at the silver-eyed man before him.
"How do you..?"
"I've lived with that pain." George stared at him, still confused and Draco sighed. "Whenever
I was born, the doctors all were concerned over me and didn't realize that my grandmother, whom
had already lost her mind without anyone knowing, was slowly choking my twin sister to death.
It wasn't until it was too late that they realized what she'd done. My grandmother was sent to
the asylum and my mother and father managed to overcome their pain to raise me but I always knew.
You just know." George was crying openingly when Draco finished and the Slytherin wrapped his
arms around the red-head. George sobbed his heart out on Draco's chest as the younger man
whispered reassuring words to him.
!END OF BONUS!
Harry finally finished shopping still grumbling. He'd been grumbling steadily for
about an hour now and he had no intention of stopping. He absoulutely hated shopping
and Draco had abandoned him almost three hours ago and there was stll no sign of him.
Harry continued to grumble to himself as he walked over to George's joke shop. The
lights were out and the doors were locked but Harry had grabbed his key to the shop. He
let himself in but saw no sign of either of them. He sighed as he walked up to the loft.
The living room was empty but the bedroom door was open. Harry walked over and felt shock
clear down to his toes at the sight before him.
Draco and George were laying in George's bed, dead asleep. George's arm was wrapped around
Draco's waist and he was cuddled up to the other man's side. Draco was laying on his back
and had his arm wrapped around George in an intimate hug. And since both of them were naked
and their clothes were all over the loft, Harry could figure out what they'd done. He cleared
his throat loudly and both of them startled.
"You know that the idea was for you two to date first, right?" George was blushing while
burying his face in Draco's neck. Draco, on the other hand, chuckled lightly.
"We had other ideas."
"Noticed."
"Just had to be sure."
"Get dressed, you blonde bitch."
"Ain't nobody's bitch and why?"
"It's half an hour past when we were supposed to be back home."
"No shit?" Harry glanced around quickly before returning his gaze back to the bed.
"Nope, I don't see any." Draco chuckled again and George watched with a small smile on his face.
Harry was happy when he realized that George's eyes were once more dancing with life. "Hey, George.
Know anyone who could watch the shop for a week or two?" George frowned but nodded slowly.
"Yeah, Lee Jordan's been wanting a chance to prove himself for a while. Why?" Harry smirked at the
new couple.
"Well, why don't you come with us? Spend a couple weeks at the Manor, getting yourself slowly back,
and take a break from the shop all at once. Is that why they call it a vacation?" Harry asked Draco
who was wearing a very proud smirk on his face.
"Yes, that's why. It's a good idea, luv. You really could use the break away from everyone." George
thought for a moment before smiling shyly and nodding. Harry smiled before turning away from the
lovers.
"Alright, so you two get dressed and I'll wait for the two of you outside." Draco and George both gave
a nod and Harry walked back outside. He chuckled slightly, realizing that his plan had been perfect,
but that it hadn't happened the way it was supposed to. He had figured they would date and then try the
bedroom. That wasn't what happened but Harry wasn't complaining. Now he didn't have to worry about
George anymore and Lucius would stop badgering Draco to find somebody. All three of Harry's biggest
problems were solved. Harry chuckled again as the two lovers came out of the shop. Draco glared at him
but Harry ignored him.
"I already sent a letter to Lee asking him to watch the shop." Then he blushed. "I still don't know about
meeting Mr. Malfoy." Harry chuckled again.
"Don't worry about that. He's been badgering Draco for about a month now that I know of to get a
boyfriend. Now he has one, so Luc can't complain all that much." George chuckled two and Draco just shook
his head at the both of them. "Alright, are we ready?" Both of the others nodded. "Good. Let's get the hell
out of here. You know, I really do hate shopping." Draco blushed.
"Sorry. Told you I'd be there and then I wasn't." Harry sent a grin over his shoulder at him.
"Yea, but, now that I know what you were doing, I can't complain all that much either." The lovers chuckled
at that before reaching the floo center. "Alright, I'll go first and explain as fast as I can." Draco nodded
and Harry grabbed a handful of floo powder before stepping into the fire.
"Malfoy Manor!"
Harry tumbled out of the fireplace at high speed. Lucius had to sidestep so that he wasn't knocked over.
"Hello, Harry." Remus spoke quietly and Lucius glared at him.
"Hey. Listen, you remember how you've been bugging Draco to get a boyfriend?" Lucius nodded with a frown.
"Well, you can stop now. Draco finally got himself a boyfriend. His choice, however, hasn't been doing
so good since the war, so we kinda invited him to come and stay with us for a week or two." Lucius blinked
but gave a nod. "Problem." Remus raised his eyebrow. "He's a Weasley." Lucius stared at Harry and then
fainted. Remus had been smiling but then turned to stare at his mate right as Draco and George came through
the floo. Draco stared at his father and Harry stared to laugh harder than he had in a long while. "I
don't think he knows what to do with the idea of Wesley being in the family. He didn't even have a problem
with us inviting him over." Harry managed between gasps of breath. Draco stared at Harry and then turned
back to his father who was starting to stir.
Lucius woke up to the sound of his entire new family laughing at his reaction.
