Their mate/mates can be a male or a female or all the same gender or some of both. “Purple then pink. You have to drink them all Adonis.” Harry unstoppered the first one and poured in into my mouth and I swallowed it, it tasted like raspberries and only took a few seconds to work. The second one tasted like strawberries and worked in seconds too. I sat myself up and Cat brought me my breakfast and placed the tray over my lap. Then she and Harry got up and got their own food and returned to the bed to eat with me.

“I feel better now, thank you. But I don’t know what kind of potions you gave me, I’ve never seen them before.”

“They are standard, but my mentor figured out how to make potions taste good and not take away from the potency, or affect it is supposed to have. I was her inspiration seeing as I refuse to take anything that tastes bad into my mouth.”

“Ah, I see. So you want to be a potion’s master when you finish school?” Harry asked.

“I want to be a wife and mother. But yes, I would love to be a potion’s master.”

“You know, you could easily be a wife by the time we graduate and a mother shortly after.” Harry hinted and I looked at Cat to see her glaring at him.

“Tell me more about Veela.” Cat said eating a blueberry. I sighed, but at least this wouldn’t piss anyone off, or at least I hoped not anyway.

“Well, we are creatures of the dark but most people are fascinated by us, especially our beauty. When we get angry or we are protecting the one or ones we love we transform into something that looks like a bird and we can create fire out of nothing and manipulate it at will. However the mates can get others pregnant or become pregnant by another person.

“A Veela can live their entire life and never find their mate. Their mate is out there somewhere but the Veela just never found them. And we can never do anything to hurt our mate, at least, not on purpous. We will do anything to keep our mate or mates happy and safe. The same thing goes for our chicks.”

“Wow.” Cat and Harry said looking at me. We had all finished eating while I explained and now our trays were off over by the table thanks to Harry and Cat was curled up and resting against my chest my arm around her and Harry’s arms around both of us.

“So have you found your mate yet?” Cat asked looking up into my eyes. I looked down into her eyes, they were sapphire but the longer I took to answer her the greyer they turned in fear of what I would say.
