Coercive Persuasion; Brainwashed
Chap. 5: The first analysis.
Harry Potter did eat lunch the next day, as he was starving, and he wondered if something had been placed into the potions he was being given to ‘calm’ him down. Oh, the potions did their work, as he seemed to not be able to raise his temper nearly as easily as before, and was much more passive. Harry just figured that that was what the Healer had intended, and was hoping he would get used to not being so combative against everything, and everyone.
One thing, though, that Harry wondered was, when he would get any visitors, as he was sure that Ron and Hermione would have already started searching for him. The problem was, though, that neither of his friends could remember anything that happened, and could only rely on the second-hand accounts of the other wizarding folk that were at Diagon Alley that day. Plus, the ministry refused to issue a missing persons bulletin, until seventy-two hours had passed, and then they ‘might’ have a look for him. The thing was, they were persistent, and were now making their way to the Ministry of Magic, to demand an audience with the new Minister for Magic, one Kingsley Shacklebolt.

“Mrs. Granger, I have told you, the Minister is a very busy man, and he has no time for drop-in visitors”! Penelope Clearwater scolded, as she never liked the Granger girl, ever since her time at Hogwarts with her. She thought that Granger was just as prejudiced as some of the purebloods, and was a know-it-all, without one drop of common sense. Penelope had been made the Minister’s personal assistant, after the Ministry was cleaned up of its rouge employees.
Hermione Granger was not one to be told no, especially when she knew the minister personally, and she would see him, if she had to barge into a meeting. They were going to look for Harry today, no matter what the Clearwater girl said.
“You listen to me, you little skank, you will tell the Minister that Hermione Granger, and Ronald Weasley are here to see him, or you might just find yourself sweeping the floors, instead of getting to sit behind a desk all day, and polish your fingernails”! Hermione screeched, and did her best impression of Molly Weasley.
“Mr. Weasley, you will control your friend, before I hex her gums together”! Penelope, with nose in air, hissed, and Ron did take hold of Hermione’s arm. “Now then, the Minister is with the Wizengamot as we speak, as they called some sort of emergency meeting earlier, and all that I can tell you to do is have a seat, and wait your turn”!
“Well, I never”! Hermione hissed back, then grabbed Ron by the hand, and marched the both over to a long leather couch, which was just outside the Minister’s office. “You just can’t hire good help these days, and whatever Percy saw in her, well, I just don’t know”!
Ron knew what Percy had seen in the girl, though, as she was semi-tall, with long legs, and quite nice looking, but what was between her legs was what had Percy’s interest, and had helped to corrupt the fifth oldest Weasley. Ron, however, was not about to tell his girlfriend this, nope, not at all.
“Mione’, I think you need to calm down”. Ron whispered to his frizzy-haired girlfriend. “We only know what some of those folks said at Diagon Alley, when we sort of come to ourselves, and we don’t know for sure whether he left with them willingly, or if they took him. I’m sure Kingsley will look into it, we just have to wait”.
It wasn’t ten minutes after Ron said this that Kingsley showed up in the hall, and motioned for them to follow him into his office. Plus, as Hermione walked by Penelope, she threw her nose in the air, and smirked, with a take that type of attitude. Penelope, though, just scoffed, and went back to polishing her nails.
“Now, you two, I have some news about our friend, Mr. Potter”. Kingsley’s baritone voice echoed in the office, just after he had shut the door. “It appears that a majority of the Wizengamot was very concerned with Harry’s mental health, and as such, they voted to issue a mental hygiene warrant for him to be taken into custody, and relocated to a treatment center, in order to be evaluated”.
“WHAT”! Both Hermione and Ron shouted, and both shot up out of their chairs. “They can’t do that! There’s nothing wrong with Harry”! Hermione exclaimed.
“They think”, Kingsley said, with a lower tone, “that Harry has been brainwashed, mainly by Dumbledore, and us, by extension, and the Healer in charge mainly agrees, especially after her examination yesterday”. Kingsley had to hold his hand up here to cut Hermione off. “Quite frankly, we don’t have a leg to stand on”.
“You’ve got to be kidding me”! Hermione screeched. “We’ll just go and see him, and break him out of there! Where have they taken him, Kingsley, I am going there at once, and I’m having a word with this so-called healer, too”!
“That’s just it, Mrs. Granger”, Kingsley explained, “they will not divulge the location of the facility, and said that we were barred from visiting him, until at least thirty days had passed, as they didn’t want us destroying any of the hard work that the Healer had accomplished”.
“They can’t do this”! Ron roared. “We would never do anything to Harry, he's our friend”!
“Yes”, Kingsley said, “but we are friends that may be persuasive towards Harry’s ideas and thoughts, and that is why the Wizengamot says we can’t see him. They are afraid that after one visit, form any of us, that we will intimidate Harry into believing what we think, instead of what the Healer tells him”.
“Well, I don’t see what’s wrong with that”! Hermione sarcastically replied. “After all, Ron and I have been helping Harry along all these years, and we all three have pretty much the same thoughts on the wizarding world as a whole. Dumbledore, himself, wanted Ron, and his family, along with me, to watch over Harry, and steer him in the right direction, and we have both been doing so since we met him! What do these politicians think; that we have been leading Harry astray all this time”?
“Not all of the time, Mrs. Granger”, Kingsley replied, “but some of the time they think that we have, and they want it stopped in its tracks. Now, as soon as I can find out where they’ve taken him, I will see what I can do to get Harry released”. Kingsley finished, and motioned to his door, as he had a busy day ahead of him.
Hermione stood, knowing they had been dismissed, and grabbed Ron by the arm, then lead him from the office. She would go home, and they would make their own plan on what to do to free Harry.

After Healer Tompkins showed up, and right on time again, she and Harry made some small talk, and then she produced a memory of her and Helena Ravenclaw, talking about Godric Gryffindor, and Salazar Slytherin. It clearly showed that Slytherin was concerned over the muggles attacking Hogwarts, because of the Pope’s orders, and that Gryffindor didn’t want to listen to logic, so Salazar did his best to protect the school, by making the Chamber of Secrets, and then leaving, to keep down the trouble brewing between the four founders. Helena explained that Godric Gryffindor vilified Salazar Slytherin, in order to prove himself being right, when in fact, the first motions of the Inquisition were just starting, and just like Slytherin had predicted.
Helena explained that Godric Gryffindor used violence to achieve his goals, and used propaganda and rumor to prove himself right, even though he was proven to be wrong in the end. Healer Tompkins explained that what Helena meant, was that Gryffindor had a Narcissistic, and ill-tempered personality. This, though, started the whole ball rolling, and the supposed hate of muggle-born witches and wizards by Slytherin, turned out to be false. Salazar Slytherin only wanted them to be hidden away from, and protected from the muggles and the Catholic Church, and not other magical people.
After Helena’s memory was viewed, Healer Tompkins showed Harry a memory from the Bloody Baron, who agreed to speak upon Helena’s request, and who pretty much backed up Helena’s story, along with the words of several old portraits that still hung at Hogwarts.
“So, let me get this right”, Harry asked, “your trying to tell me that Minerva McGonagall lied to the lot of us that day, when she told the story about Slytherin and Gryffindor”?
“No, Mr. Potter, she didn’t think she was lying at all, and was only carrying on the same tale that, Godric Gryffindor, and his family started. If she had known the truth, at that time, I think she would have told the real story, instead of what you heard”. Tompkins explained.
“Godric Gryffindor told that tale to save face, and that was only after Slytherin had left the castle, and went back to the fens”. Tompkins carried on. “His family carried the tale on, as they couldn’t imagine that their forefathers would ever tell a lie. The only ones who knew the truth were the ones who were living when it all happened, and at the time, Helena was a small child, but grew up knowing the truth, before her untimely demise”.
“Well, say that it is true, what does that matter, hmm”? Harry asked with a scowl. “What difference does it make that Gryffindor was as windy as a farting cat”?
“It says, Mr. Potter, that what you see in print, and what other people tell you, may not be the whole truth, or even close to it, and it is up to you to seek out the entire truth before you act on what you’ve heard, beforehand”. Healer Tompkins explained. “I think, Mr. Potter, that you have been fed mistruths for a long time, and have had a huge amount of the real truth withheld from you. I also think it was purposely done, to get you to where you are today; full of hate, and bitterness over people that you should never have felt that way about.
“To be honest, Mr. Potter, I think it all started when you were fifteen months old, on October thirty-first, the night your parents died”.
At this, Harry stood from his bed, and walked over to stare out the window, and onto the grounds. “I’ll think about it, okay, but it’s not something anyone would want to agree with, you know, that everyone can’t be trusted”.
“Yes. Mr. Potter, I do understand, but the reality of the situation is, that it is almost impossible to trust humankind. It’s like the old saying goes, though crude it is; that opinions are like arseholes, and everybody has one.
“Now, I must take my leave, and I will see you again, tomorrow, at the same time. Please, do try to eat more, and take your potions, as it will help with the high blood pressure I noticed you had during my first examination”.
With this, healer Tompkins left Harry by himself, and several memories to think over.

Also, I see that someone on Adultfanfiction has gotten after me over my disclaimer, which legally speaking, is one of the plainest and well-written that is on this entire website. I have checked other disclaimers on here, from several well known authors, whose stories are being published at the same time as mine, and have found that they have not been tipped, not as well worded, nor have I read any notice under their reviews pages (I’m leaving the one on mine). Plus, I was given links to read that do not work. If the stories vanish over the harassment, then you know it wasn’t my doing, as I can only try to comply. I may end up having to pull them, and place them elsewhere. It’s been going on this way since I published The Pride of Hogwarts.
