Hermione made her way through the castle looking for the Slytherin that she would need to help her. Finally, she found him hidden in the very back of the library with books stacked so high that she nearly passed right by him but at the last moment she saw him practically laying on the table writing something that was entirely too small to actually read. She walked up to him and waited for him to notice her, she even cleared her throat but he continued to write fully ignoring her presence.

“Severus Snape” She said calmly “I need your help. But I know that you will not believe me so here” She handed him a pensieve with her memories “Please, look at them and I will be waiting here for your questions when you come back”

He complained immensely not understanding why she needed him to do this but after he cast some spells around them himself to keep out unwanted spells he leaned in to the memories watching each one with more and more horror as each scene went by. When he was done with the little horror show he sat back and looked at her with tears in his eyes he muttered that it was all his fault before he stood and ran from the library. Hermione was hot on his trail and caught him before he made it to the common room.

“You can stop it” She gasped leaning against him trying to catch her breath annoyed that he wasn’t even breathing heavily though he had been sprinting through the bloody school “I need you to work with me and Lily, James, Sirius and Remus”

“Not bloody likely” He hissed “No…if these are truly your memories than I apologize for what happened to you and your friends, but in all honesty other than Lily…I could care less what happens to that group”

“Even Remus?” Hermione pressed “Who has never spoken against you?”

“Who has never spoken against me or for me against his friends” Severus sneered “He just stands there and watches what happens, he never attempts to stop anything or say anything never and why?” He glared at her “Because he’s too much like Pettigrew!” Without thinking and just letting her anger shine through Hermione smacked him across the face.

“He is nothing like Pettigrew!” She hissed angrily “Nothing like that slimy, murdering little turn-coat!” Then she seemed to come back to herself and looked at the taller person in front of her, he was holding his cheek and leaning against the wall “I’m sorry” She whispered pulling his struggling form against her and hugging him tightly and after twitching and fighting her for a few minutes he just went limp and allowed her to hold him.

“Okay” She pulled back a little and looked at his face “I know you hate them and with good reason…but I know that somewhere inside of you…deeply, deeply inside of you. There is the brave Potions Master that fought for years to protect Hogwarts and all the students held in it all you need to do is just momentarily forget the anger you hold and work with the people you hate until this is over. I need the smartest students in the school on my side and like or not three of the four marauders, Lily and you are the smartest”

“Am I mean?” He asked “Am I a bully…this older me?”

“Yes” She whispered.

“Even to you?” He put two fingers on her cheek.

“You made me cry once” She told him.

“I’m sorry” He whispered before he leaned in and, surprising both her and himself with his boldness, pressed his lips against hers. Hermiones eyebrows almost disappeared in her hairline before she slowly returned the kiss allowing his tongue entrance and dueling with it for a minute before her brain caught up with her hormones and she pulled away.

“Pro…Severus” She frowned slightly when he instantly looked ready to duel her if need be “I’m sorry, maybe I’ve been…misleading. Your great and smart and in the future after all this craziness has been resolved maybe we can go on a date, but I think that right now it wouldn’t be fair to you”

“I’m not…” He started

“I know” She cut him off “You’re not asking to date. But I am not the type to snog or shag without some kind of commitment from the person I am with. I or we if you decide to help me are going to be super busy for a while and when I get going on something that my heart is in completely I can be distant and sometimes downright mean to my friends. I don’t want to hurt you…just please don’t push this”

“I’m sorry” He whispered looking at the floor and then heaved a great sigh “Alright, I’ll do it. But I swear to merlin if Black or Potter bothers me even a little they are dead!”

“Okay, okay” Hermione smiled at him “Down killer. I will talk to them and owl you with any more information”

~~~Common Room~~~

Remus new why the dark lord had targeted his parents, the year before when he was fourteen he got a letter from the dark lord himself requesting that he join him, he told him that he had a place in his inner circle for him and all he had to do was show up to the next meeting. Needless to say, he didn’t go to the meeting but he kept getting letters that started with ‘I know you must have been nervous and I shall forgive you’ to the last one that merely said ‘I shall make you sorry for not joining me’. He missed his parents greatly but he still did not regret his choice in staying away from the man, he knew that wherever his parents were now they would be happier knowing that he didn’t give in to a bully no matter how much he lost. Now that he thought about it what had he lost really, his parents yes and he would forever miss them forever however now he had his friends and possibly a new friend in the Slytherin he used to allow his friends to harass, they would be fighting against Voldemort and they would make a better future then the one they saw in Hermiones memories. Then there was Hermione herself, she was stuck here and the least he could do (from one orphan to another) was to make sure he took care of her.

“Hey you guys” Hermione plopped down on the couch between Sirius and James giving Sirius a strange searching look before grinning and announcing “Severus is on board”

“Oh great” James mumbled.

“Are we…gonna have to spend time with him?” Sirius asked, facing turning a little pink as he looked at the book he was studying from.

“Yes” Hermione said “Maybe one on one maybe as a group”

“One on one?” Sirius tried to sneer but a faint blush was staining his cheeks. Once again Remus watched Hermione give Sirius a searching look before her brows raised slightly.

“Anyway” Hermione went back in to business mode “Wait…where’s Peter?”

“McGonagall gave him detention for setting off a dungbomb in the back of the class” Sirius answered “Poor bloke”

“Why so poor?” Hermione asked.

“Because I set the bomb off in the back of her class” He winked.

“You are terrible” Hermione laughed “Anyway” She cast a ‘muffleto’ spell around her, Lily, and the three boys “We are going to have to meet in the library with Severus but I need to go over where the horcruxes are and I have no way to get a hold of him”

“Okay” They intoned.

“The horcruxes” Hermione said “The snake doesn’t exist and neither does Harry. So that leaves, Hufflepuff’s Cup in the LeStrange vault or maybe it would be Black right now I’m not sure…in fact it may not even be there at all. Ravenclaws lost Diadum in the ROR…”

“The what?” James asked.

“Room of Requirement” Hermione said and at their blank looks she grinned “The come and go room. Stand outside the wall and think really hard about what you want and the room turns in to whatever you may need”

“Like a room with a bed…” Sirius wiggled his brows at her causing James to hit him in the back of the head with:

“Oi…you git that’s my sister”

“Is not” He grinned which slid from his mouth as Hermione gave him another strange look.

“Then there is the locket that is in the cave” She continued “The ring in Little Hangleton then the diary at Malfoy Manor”

“Nothing too difficult then” James joked but she noted that he was a little pale.

“Lily” Hermione smiled “Is there any way you can get Severus to come to the library in ten minutes?”

“Yes” She stood and started to write a quick note “I’ll tell him to meet us there in ten minutes after he gets this letter”

“Thank you” Hermione said as she ran out of the common room “Now, you two” She fixed Sirius and James with a slit-eyed glare “Don’t pick on him, call him Snape if you need to but not Snivellous or else I’ll tell him your secrets…or even better I’ll tell the whole school”

“You’ve got nothing” James smirked.

“I read your sister’s diary” She answered “James what is it that you like to wear sometimes?” She pretended to think real hard “Oh yes its...”

“SHUT UP” He snapped causing Remus and Sirius to raise their eyebrows and wonder what it was that he liked to wear.

“And Sirius…” She grinned “Well, just be nice”

“I will” He snapped face turning pink again “But what about Remus?”

“I’ll give him a spanking” Hermione announced standing and waiting for them to join her as she dismissed the charm.

“Can’t I get a spanking too?” Sirius whined.

“No” Hermione said “I don’t think you would appreciate it the same way he will”

“Bitch” He muttered as they all made their way downstairs to the library where they found Lily and Severus standing and talking quietly. Hermione led them to the very back of the library and cast a strong notice-me-not spell weaved with a mufflito charm dipped in a stay away ward all around their location. This really made the other five teenagers understand not only how powerful she was but how dire the situation was if she was going to this extent not to be over heard.

“I caught Severus up on what we are looking for and where they can or may be found” Lily told her “And don’t worry I used a silencing spell so no eavesdroppers could possibly hear anything”

“Very good” Hermione said standing in front of the small group, she smiled when she noted that James and Sirius were lounging about waiting for her to speak while Severus, Lily and Remus had parchment, quills and ink at the ready “It is good to see that some of you are here prepared”

“Shut up Professor Potter” James sneered “Just because their nerds doesn’t mean we all have to be”

“I have gathered five of the smartest students in Hogwarts” Hermione started, ignoring her brother “Severus you are highly logical, make your own charms and hexes and you are the best in Potions that is currently at this school. Sirius and James, you two may be scatter-brained and immature” She ignored the snort from Snape “But you guys have made charms, hexes, potions you know the pureblood way of thinking, you are loyal and have abilities that surpass mine and anyone else’s. Lily and Remus you are like me, highly logical, good with runes and Arithmancy able to do just about anything we put our minds to, these are the reasons I have brought this group together”

“You’re going to make me cry” Sirius pretended to sob in to James shoulder.

“Oh shut it” Hermione sighed “We have to get the Cup, the Diadum, the Locket, the Diary, and the Ring. I know this all sounds extremely easy to do but we cannot be caught, we can’t ask for outside assistance and once all the horcruxes are destroyed…”

“Then we take on Voldemort!” James said triumphantly.

“NO!” Hermione snapped “You can take down any death eater you want to…but you leave Voldemort for me. I was beaten by him, raped by him, forced to watch my friends be tortured and killed and I was even forced to kill someone I loved because of him. When the time comes and we start to fight I will be the one who kills that bastard for the nightmares that will haunt me forever”

“Okay” Lily whispered laying her head against Severus’s shoulder “But what about the creatures?”

“What about them?” Hermione asked.

“He has giants, werewolves…horrible things” Lily answered not noticing the way Remus flinched at being called a ‘horrible thing’

“I want Greyback” He said angrily “He is the reason I am what I am”

“What are you?” Severus looked at him curiously ‘Shite’ Hermione thought ‘I forgot, he doesn’t know yet!’

“Er…Remus?” Hermione said “You can handle this”

“Severus…please don’t…er…freak out” Remus said calmly “I was bitten by a werewolf…”

“OH MY GOD!” Severus stood up and ran back to the wall leaning against it and staring at Remus in unhidden fear “YOU’RE A…A…A BLOODY WEREWOLF!”

“Severus” Hermione said calmly “Please, calm down”

“A W-W-WEREWOLF” Severus gasped though for his credit Hermione could tell that he was trying to calm himself “I-I-I…okay” He sighed “Th-that is…um…interesting”

With that last sentence everyone in the small group burst out laughing.

A/N: I hope you like this chapter and will review immensely on it. Severus is part of a group and Hermione is becoming a ruthless leader…what do you guys think? And on top of that any questions?
