The days seemed to flow together as we spent our days together. Every morning I would wake up to a gift on my pillow. First it was a rose, then a gold necklace with a charm of a snake wrapped around a lion. Followed by new clothes, shoes, underwear. The last one made me blush, but I always thanked him when we enter the dining hall to eat breakfast. I quickly learned that he did not eat much, but he did like his tea sweet. He always preferred his eggs runny, where I liked them scrambled. And his meat regardless of the kind was always cooked rare. I also began notice many other things. Like how he always seemed to wear muggle clothes, instead of the robes I had become use to seeing. I also noticed that he was never far away from me, but in his absence one of his house elves, Miny, stayed close by. They both always made sure that I ate at every meal and that I was always comfortable.

Severus knew that I had not tried many foods. On the days when no gift was on my pillow he would always have something new for me to try. Some were extravagant while others were simple meals I never had the chance to enjoy. I got to enjoy my first grilled cheese sandwich, who knew melted cheese and toasted bread was such a sinful combination I would come to love. I also tried many other dishes made with pastas, lobsters, steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon, pork, and scallops! I never felt so full in my life! The combinations were endless, but ironically my favorites where always the simplest, like peanut butter and jelly!

Since that first night he never did more the kiss and occasionally cuddle with me. We also never slept in the same bed. He always walked me to bed at night before wishing me sweet dreams and giving me a kiss goodnight. I truly enjoyed our cuddles and kisses, but I was starting wonder why he never did more. I began to research Vampires in his library while he worked on his potions below.

Vampires

There are two kinds of vampires, those that are made and those that whom are born.

Vampires that are made spend most of their life fighting a never ending blood lust. The vampires that are made from muggles usually go insane, with no magic to help them deal with the changes. Wizard made vampires on the other hand can usually adapt more comfortably. Often they have to have regular donors to help them with feeding. If they happen to find their mate the blood lust lessens, but never fully goes away. They are also very allergic to garlic.

Vampire that are born will on occasionally have a craving for blood. Most don’t actually crave blood until they find their mate. If the mate is male, semen can often be used as a substitute for blood, but it is not as fulfilling as blood. Unlike vampires that are made they have no reaction to garlic.

Vampires regardless of how they come into the world have a mate and they mate for life. Their mate is not always a Vampire, but is always magical. On occasion mates are found at a young age, sometimes as soon as they are born. In this case the Vampire and its mate have an instant connection. The Vampire will be very protective of their mate until they are old enough to bond. Until such time they will always be very loving and caring as they watch their mate grow. When the time comes usually the Vampire will begin to court the mate. Often giving kisses and gifts. These gifts can sometime be sexual in nature, but never intercourse. That is saved for when consummate the bonding.

The bonding is a way for the Vampire to become more in tuned with their mate. The act alone almost melds them into one and to seal the deal the Vampire will mark his mate with a bite. This is when the vampire gets his first taste of his or her mate’s blood. It is said that nothing compares to its taste. For some Vampires they will need a small drink every other day, while others will only drink during sex.

After the bond is complete the mate changes in some small way. It differs from mate to mate. Some of the changes include sight, hearing, smell, strength (physical and magical), speed and height. The couple can also communicate through their mind. At first it will be nothing but whispers, but as time goes on the couple have full conversations without ever talking. This ability allows the Vampire to know where their mate is at all times and as to wither he or she is in danger. As a result the Vampire is not so overprotective and usually can longer without being in contact with their mate.

Vampire babies are rare but are always treasured. Both male and female mates of a Vampire can become pregnant and give birth to children. Vampire children are born after only 6 months since their body grow and recover at a faster rate. Only male pregnancy last an additional month due to the transformation the body goes through to give birth. Once out of the womb the children as any other would. At time the child may crave rare meat and for the first 6 months the child should not come in contact with garlic.

I read the last passage three more times before looking down at my stomach. I could get pregnant! I never knew it was possible I could have the family I always wanted

I didn’t realize that I had sat there just staring at the book until I felt hands touch my shoulder. I jumped in surprise as I turned to see the worried look on Sev’s face.

“Merlin you scared me,” I sighed

“I called your name three times Harry and you didn’t respond. Are you okay?”

“Yes, Sev. Just got lost in my thought”

“Ok, I see you are reading about Vampires… do you have any questions?”

“I think the book answered all the questions I have so far.”

“Alright well let’s go down to dinner,” he said as he held out his hand.

I reached out my hand to grasp his and pulled me up and into his arms. He kissed me on the forehead before leading me out of the library and toward the dining hall. Once at the table he handed me a vial with the simple order of “Drink”

Without a second thought I did as he asked before asking “What is it?”

“Blood replenishing potion”

“Why do I need that?”

“You shall see” he replied with a smirk before sitting down to begin eating his meal
