A/N: Here's JB!
Chapter 5: Connection
Strength. It kept him going. Kept him strong. He used it when the pain got too great. He looked to his strength to get him through it. It helped. But he didn't know how much longer he would be able to keep it up. With every day that passes he would soon be able to reach the surface.
JB looked into the full length mirror and stared at the scars across his chest. He traced the lines with his fingers. They were healing nicely and he laughed loudly letting it echo off the walls. He put his arms out and started to spin around laughing. He landed on his bed and his laughter died down. There was now a blank look on his face as he remembered the night he happened to get these scars.
He was minding his own business when he started to feel a sharp pain on his chest. Then his back, he felt his arm break, then leg, he felt his right shoulder come out of his socket. He was screaming in pain so loudly everyone in the castle came to his aide. He then remembered black. When he woke up he was informed that four months has passed. He didn't know what happened but he was awake now. Lord Dragonus told him that his connection with Andrew was strong. JB looked confused when Lord Voldemort stepped in and told him that he was getting weekly reports of Andrew's whereabouts.
JB was angry with them. He tried to sit up but the pain was too great. The two Lords told him to rest because he would need his strength. JB laid back down and fell asleep.
Now he was alone in his bedroom fully recovered since that day. He heard a knock on the door and he didn't bother to answer. He heard the door open the heard the voice of Snape, "Mr. Borum Lord Dragonus and Lord Voldemort would like for you to join them in the dining hall when you are able." He didn't wait for an answer. He just turned and walked out of JB's room. Since Andrew left JB has been a completely different person and no one understood why. Hopefully the Dark Lords would be able to figure it out.
JB stood up and decided to throw on just a pair of jeans and a zip up hoodie. He put the hood up and kept it unzipped exposing his scared muscular chest. He left his room not bother to put on any socks to keep his feet warm from the stone cold floor. He walked down the corridor of castle. The castle he would visit in the summertime with Andrew and Lord Dragonus. This was his home now and he had to make the most of it. Sure he missed the castle in the states but this was home now.
With his brother gone he didn't know which direction to go. Andrew always knew the answers to a lot of things. He turned to him for direction. He was a great fighter as well, but he had the brains mostly. He got the best scores on every exam and paper. JB would do okay, but he was a way better fighter. Sixteen years they were by each other's side and now he had to fend for himself. It was a strange and new feeling. He felt abandon and alone. Sure he had his father figure Lord Dragonus but Andrew kept him from loosing his temper.
Andrew had sent letters here and there but not all the time. It would always be a different owl each time and it wouldn't wait for a response. It would fly off and never return. He knew that Andrew didn't want to be found but he couldn't help but wonder how did Voldemort find him. He never said how he found out where Andrew was. He wanted answers and hopefully he would get them when he walked through those double wooden doors.
The two Dark Lords were in a deep conversation when the heard the doors open. They saw JB walk in and they knew that he wasn't himself. Not since he woke up from that coma. They watched him as he walked to the other end of the table and took a seat. The servant immediately poured a liquid into his cup and took a step back. Another servant started to put food on his plate. But JB's eyes were set on the two Lords at the other end of the table. The servant finished fixing JB's plate and took a step back.
"Thank you for joining us son," Dragonus said. JB took a sip of his drink and sat back not saying anything. Dragonus and Voldemort looked at each other and then back at JB. He took another sip of his drink and just kept his gaze upon the two men before him. They couldn't read his face. They didn't know if he was angry, upset, hurt, or disappointed. They stayed in silence for quit a while until the doors opened and Goyle walked in. He made a beeline for two men. He whispered something then handed them a piece of parchment then left.
JB didn't even bother to look at Goyle. He didn't want to take his eyes off of the two men. Not until they started to give him answers. He watched as they each read the parchment and started to discuss it quietly and then they looked at JB. Voldemort whispered something and Dragonus held up his hand and nodded. He cleared his throat and began to talk, "JB now that you are sixteen we have decided it is now time to send you on a solo mission." JB remained silent.
"It appears a vampire Marcus a very old vampire has been causing a bit of trouble for us. We want you to track him down and destroy him. You are welcome to bring any one you want to back you up. You don't have to accept this mission if you don't want to. We could always send some one else."
JB stood up, "I'll leave right away," without another word he left the dining hall and went to his room to prepare for a fight.
It didn't take him long to get ready. He was dressed in all black from head to toe. He had his favorite sword in his sheathe, a few throwing knives on his belt as well as a few stakes, and a couple of hidden daggers. He took one last look around his room and walked out onto his balcony; he climbed the railing and took a deep breath and jumped. He was gone before he hit the ground.
*******
He found himself right outside a small village and he could hear the screams, "Must be the right place," he said to himself and started to walk towards the flames. The people were running around trying to escape the fires, save their families, their belongs, there was just panic every where. He smirked, "This guy? Really?" he laughed as he started to walk down the main path of the village. He thought about the attack on Diagon Alley and how he and Andrew did a much better job and this vampire did on this village. He couldn't help but smile as he made his way through the village. He was ready for a good fight. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath and raised his arms up and slowly spun around for a few moments. Then he heard a voice, "Excuse me but can I help you?"
His eyes opened and he turned around and saw a man that looked like he was in his mid thirties dressed in a suite and tie. He had blood stains on his shirt and the flames reflected in his black eyes. His fangs were out and he was holding a man that looked about in his late forties. "Marcus I presume," JB said and took a bow.
"Who wants to know?"
"Jonathan Borum my father sent me as well as the Dark Lord Voldemort," he said straightening up.
Marcus's black eyes widened and then he smiled, "How wonderful! We can share this together!" He turned with his arm raised showing the rest of the burning village. JB was about to say something but Marcus beat him to it, "Hold on. I thought your father died," Marcus thought for a moment as if trying to figure out what JB meant by "father."
"Who told you my father died?"
"Oh come lad! The Borums were amazing! I didn't know they had a son! This is brilliant! Come and join me!" He said with a big smile.
"That's not why I'm here. My adoptive father sent me," he narrowed his gaze at the vampire.
"Wait a second were you raised by Rob Dragonus?"
JB smiled proudly, "The one and only," he said. Marcus sighed, "Oh bloody hell I guess dessert will have to wait until later," he said and tossed the man aside.
"Bloody git has been after me for years! Now he sends a boy to do his dirty work," Marcus scoffed at JB. The young wizard tried to keep his temper down as he had his and on the handle of his sword. Marcus saw that and couldn't help but smirk.
"Shall we?" Marcus asked getting into a fighting stance.
"May I have this dance?" JB asked with a smirk as he drew his sword and waited for the first move.
For a long time they just sized each other up until Marcus came at him with such speed JB almost didn't block him. Luckily he was quick enough to block the blow. They continued to test each other's strengths and try to find any weakness. Then out of no where JB's fist connected with Marcus's jaw. He just laughed and spit out his blood, "Well this is going to be fun!" Marcus said as he lunged at JB again.
JB remembered all his combat training. He trained with a vampire for six months when he was only thirteen. The vampire told him to always keep his guard up and when there's an opening take it. Marcus was fast but JB was able to keep up. Marcus threw everything he could at JB but nothing was working. He did get a few blows in but JB now had him all bloody and bruised. He had one more trick up his sleeve as he was now on his knees in front of JB.
"Looks like a wizard has gotten the better of you vampire," JB said with a smirk as he sheathed his sword and pulled out a stake from his belt. He spit out some of his blood from where Marcus's fist had met his face. Marcus just laughed at JB as he started coming towards him. "You forget Mr. Borum that I always have the final blow." JB grabbed him by the hair, "Oh really? And what might that be?" Before JB could comprehend what was happening Marcus was kissing him. It took him a moment to realize what happened and then he pushed him away. "What the fuck was that?!" He yelled and Marcus just laughed, "You will find out soon enough!" JB yelled and caught the vampire off guard as he drove the wooden stake into the vampire's heart. "Have fun in hell!" JB said as the vampire disappeared into a cloud of dust.
JB took a step back and wondered what he meant. That was not expected at all. He shook his head and took a deep breath. "That was easier than I thought," he said to himself. He looked around the village it was destroyed beyond repair. Marcus did a pretty good number on this place. He looked at the spot one more time and then started to walk back down the main path.
*********
"The connection between the two is stronger than we thought," Snape told Dragonus. All the Dark Lord could do was nod, "If we are not careful they could die. The need to have the bond still, but not be able to feel what the other feels," Snape explained.
"Is there a way?" Voldemort asked.
"I need to run a few test but I need blood from both. Since one isn't here that would be impossible," He said with a disappointed sigh. "No it won't be," Dragonus said. The two men looked at him confused. "I have a vile of Andrew's blood. It came into my possession just right before he left. I've kept just in case I needed it to locate him." Snape looked at him as if his Master had grew another head, "It is in my bed chambers you may go and look. When you have found the answer please let us know as soon as possible."
"Yes, my Lord," Snape bowed and left the room. Voldemort was about to update Dragonus on Andrew when the doors burst open. There stood JB pretty beat up but something was wrong, "It is done," he said then he collapsed. The two men rushed over to him and started to scream for the doctor. JB's eyes were closed and Dragonus got them open just a little bit and couldn't believe what he saw. Voldemort saw it too, "Does this mean what I think it means?" He looked at Dragonus who had JB in his arms, "Oh my sweet sweet boy," he said as he let a tear fall from his eye.
