Chapter 5
“What I say we do to start is this; let's get Kreacher up here and have him bin everything except what's in our room,” Sirius started, looking up and down the hall on the top floor. “And I mean everything. He will do our room too when we pick out some new furniture. For now, he'll leave the carpet, but that will eventually go, too. Then we get him to give it a cleaning it's not had in years. While he takes that on, we'll start on the warding. I want to start with a basic one so that no one can get up here but us. Once we get that up, we'll go to work on our room. After we get that as heavily warded as we can manage, we'll work on the stairs and hall to do the same. Right now, we're good and I'm not worried about anyone trying anything or having people over. Later—we'll see. I want this in place before that happens.”
Taking that in and nodding, Harry said, “Good by me.” Giving Kreacher a call, he set the elf to work. Pulling his wand, he began to assist Sirius with the warding, taking in what his godfather was doing as it wasn't something he had encountered before. “What else are we going to work on today?”
Layering on what he knew would be the most basic wards to accomplish what he wanted, Sirius sighed, “Beyond what I mentioned in the kitchen, that's working with you a bit to see if we can't do something about the expressions. We won't get very far with that today, I know, but we need to start. That and your eyes. The look softened up a bit earlier, but I'm not sure what we can do there. We don't want anyone thinking anything is off, Harry. And if they see what's there they will, then we'll have huge problems because it'll end up spread around.”
Snorting as he waited for Sirius to finish up the spell he was applying, Harry shook his head, “I doubt we're going to manage that in just a couple days, Sirius.” He had seen a glimpse of himself in the bathroom mirror this morning and knew what Sirius was referring to when it came to his eyes. Though he adored the look there, and the feeling that came with what was unleashed, he could also understand why his godfather wanted to hide it.
Stopping what he was doing, Sirius looked over his shoulder at Harry then sighed. “You're right, of course. I get that. We need to start, though, then see what we can manage when it comes to hiding it for a time. I don't know there, let me think on it.” With that, he went back to applying the spell, trying to come up with something he could do to disguise Harry's eyes that wouldn't seem off.
Looking down and pondering the problem, Harry folded his arms over his chest. Quietly, he said, “For something outside, if we can get me contact lenses, sunglasses would completely hide my eyes.”
Thinking that over, Sirius gave a firm nod. “That we can manage. Yeah, good idea there, Harry! We'll do that one.” Thinking harder, he said, tone distracted, “We might be able to get you a pair of colored contacts to match your current eye color. Those should disguise plenty. If we can manage that, we just have to work on your facial expressions. That would make this a shite-load easier.”
“I'd rather have contacts anyway,” Harry admitted with a shrug. “Easier than worrying about my glasses.”
“Let's see what's open today and what we can manage,” Sirius told him with a pleased grin. Turing to face Harry, he said, “We're going to have to watch plenty until you can pull off a better acting job. It might be best that you not say much to anyone for a time. At least until we have it under some form of control. I think, at least for now, most people would chalk it up to grief or what you went through, but you never know. It's best that we not talk too much, either one of us. They can then just wonder.”
“That's easy enough as I'd rather not deal with anyone anyway. They can all piss off as far as I'm concerned,” Harry told him with a snort.
“Same here,” Sirius told him with a grin, going back to tending to the ward he was working with. “I'm also going to suggest that you let me take on Ron, Ginny and Hermione. I know they're your friends and you're close, but--”
Interrupting Sirius, Harry told him, “Have at it. I don't want to deal with them. At all. With what we did this morning, they're people that will be rough to talk with. It's not something I want to take on right now.”
“My thoughts as well,” Sirius agreed with a nod, pleased. “I'll handle it, Harry. Arthur has probably already explained to them what we did. He'll take on the worst of it, hopefully. If he and Molly aren't treating you any differently and they put their foot down, those three aren't likely to say too much. That and I'm sure they have plenty they have to worry about anyway. We'll manage. Hence the reason I want to stay away from almost everyone for a time. Let it settle and we'll go on from there.” Finishing the ward, Sirius stepped back, pleased, nodding. It was on and functional. Just what he wanted. Looking over his shoulder at his godson, he added, “And you broke up with Ginny. There might have been an unwritten agreement it would pick back up when the war was over, but nothing overt was said. You made your choice and there's nothing she can do. If she wants to argue the point, she can do it with me. I damn well guarantee she won't win that one.”
“It would be funny to watch her try,” Harry grinned, chuckling softly.
“It would, I admit it,” Sirius grinned back, snickering. “I'd rather not, though. Consequently we're about to become hermits. That'll keep us out of most of the shite coming. We'll show for what we have to and only stay as long as needed, then come home. If it's as you said and Kreacher has almost everything set up for delivery, we're fine other than bits here and there. Those we can employ a disguise of some kind for. Anything else—we'll stick with the Muggles for a time.” Thinking it over, Sirius sighed and shook his head then told him, softly, “I'm sure the last school year will end up being repeated because of what happened. Just—there's no going back, Harry. I'll cover it all with you and go beyond, teaching you all you need to know.”
“Like I would want to go back and have to deal with all those people?” Harry asked him, rolling his eyes. “You're fine, there. I'm sure I'll end up getting a better education with you anyway.”
“Probably,” Sirius agreed with a nod. “I'll get you through it and teach you plenty more. You'll catch on quick enough, don't worry. It'll give us something to do while we get used to this mess.” What he didn't add was it gave him the time he needed to get Harry to a place where he accepted he was in charge and his godson would listen. That, he figured, would take plenty of time on its own. While Harry wasn't balking at what was there yet, he was sure that was coming. In fact, the biggest fight could come that afternoon when he got the collar and leash. Harry had enough of a reaction that morning when he talked about it that it was probably a foreshadowing of some kind. He would manage, that he was sure of, he just had to work with it as it came. And that wouldn't be the only fight. It would end up just the first of many battles until he could get in place what he needed. Nothing more.
Looking at the place where the ward was now up, Sirius said, “Right—that's in place. It's good for now. Let's go start on our room. By the time we're done with that, the store in the Alley should be open. We'll head there then see what else is open. We can hope that a few places are so we can at least grab catalogs of what they have, then we can start looking.”
After a glance up and down the hall, Harry asked, folding his arms over his chest and leaning back against the wall, “What are we going to do with the rest of the rooms up here? I mean, we can get the bedroom expanded plenty and that will probably be all the room we need. I can't see leaving them empty.”
Facing his godson, Sirius had an evil grin on his face then told him, tone smooth, “We're going to make my mother's room into a playroom of sorts. That's something we'll ease into, of course. Not only will it be fun, but it would rightly piss her off to know that's what I did with it.”
Now, playroom could mean many things and Harry knew it. With the discussions they had up until now, though, he figured Sirius meant an adult type playroom with sexual items in it. Grinning himself, he nodded, “That could be fun.”
“Oh, you have no idea,” Sirius said, that evil grin growing. Walking over, he pressed Harry tightly to the wall with his body then stroked his head. “You're mine and, as I promised, we're going to have lots of fun, Harry. Just the two of us. We have plenty of work to do, of course, that's obvious, but it's just you and me. All the time. We're doing everything together. This included. We'll start with it while we're out by grabbing some fun toys to play with. Then I'll get an idea of what you want to try or are interested in. I know some, of course, but I want you to tell or show me what you'd like to try. We'll then go from there. Where we're going is only one shop I know of. There are others. We can do what we are with the rest of the shops; grab some catalogs of what they have. That way we can go through them and decide what we want to try or pick up.”
“Yeah, I like that idea,” Harry admitted, seriously interested in that part. “Could end up quite interesting, actually.”
“Oh, you bet your arse it could,” Sirius chuckled. Then he added, “And it will. Between the two of us? It's sure to be a lot of fun.” Pressing Harry tighter to the wall, grabbing a handful of his hair, he hissed, “You're mine, Harry, all mine. Remember that. No one else is going to know that, but you are. It'll stay between us just what this relationship is. Everyone else can see whatever 'face' we put on it. It just comes down to the fact that you're mine. Understand?”
“Yes,” Harry hissed, loving this and how dominant Sirius was. That was thrilling in a way that he hadn't ever experienced before.
Holding Harry's head where it was, Sirius ground against him slightly then added, “You have a choice, most times anyway, Harry. That's only because I allow you to have it. If it comes down to you fighting me, I’ll invoke that bond and put a stop to it. When I have to do that, you'll do it my way whether you like it or not. Then you won't have a choice. You don't fight, you have a choice in everything. Got me?”
“Understood,” Harry panted, reaching out to hold onto Sirius.
“Who do you belong to?” Sirius asked, looking Harry in the eyes.
“You, Sirius. I'm yours,” Harry told him with a shiver, cock starting to rise.
“Mine,” Sirius nodded. Releasing his hair, Sirius stroked it then added, voice softer, “And I love you. Never forget that either. There is no one in the world, I don't care who they are, that loves you as much or like I do. That's why I wanted to do this.”
“I love you, too,” Harry said with a smile, reaching out to touch Sirius' face. “And I know. No one, ever, loved me or did anything for me like you did.”
“This is just a continuation of that, nothing more,” Sirius told him, leaning forward to give Harry a soft kiss. “You're my Harry and I love you.”
“Yours and I love you, too,” Harry replied, giving him a tight squeeze.
Stroking Harry's head, Sirius smiled at him then pulled back. “Right—let's get on the bedroom. That I want done and as fortified as we can get it. To do that takes time. We'll tackle that next. By the time we get it in place, it should be time for the shops to have opened. Then we'll take off and see what we can find.”
“Good by me,” Harry said with a nod. “You can give me a crash course in what you're doing. Hermione is the one that handled the warding and that, so I want to learn.”
“Easily done,” Sirius told him, reaching out to ruffle his hair. “What I'm doing wasn't learned in school anyway, so she might not know it. You'll catch on quickly enough.” Putting a hand on Harry's shoulder, he began to guide him into the room, explaining the basics of what he was planning. When he started, he would walk him through everything he did. It was always good to learn these bits and he would teach Harry all he wanted to know.
Flopping down on the bed with a tired sigh, Sirius began pulling shrunken packages from his pockets. They had picked up all kinds of shite in the Alley, both of them. Much to his surprise, plenty of shops were open, and not just the ones down Knockturn Alley that tended to be no matter what was going on. That was good as they weren't busy. Which meant that they could get all kinds of things taken care of and started. Perfect. That’s what he needed without anyone asking too many questions.
Setting the catalogs they grabbed on the bedside table with the collar and leash, Sirius motioned Harry to sit down beside him as he enlarged the box that the new contacts came in. He thought this might work. They also grabbed the darkest sunglasses they could find. They wouldn't completely hide Harry's eyes, but would obscure them enough that he didn't think anyone would notice anything off if the contacts didn't help. They had also gotten him a new pair of glasses, as close to his old ones in style as they could find, with clear glass in them. That way no one would realize that the contacts were there and hiding something.
Motioning Harry to come over closer, Sirius waited until his godson sat on the bed by him then said, “Let's give this a shot to see if it works. If it doesn't, we're going to have to go about it a different way.” Seeing Harry nod, Sirius handed over the instruction sheet and box to him, waiting.
Reading through what was there, Harry nodded as it was easy. Tapping the box the lenses were in, covered in a solution to keep them clean, he then tapped his eyelids, waiting. Instantly, he could feel them insert correctly. Blinking a couple times, trying to get used to the odd feeling, then removing his old glasses as he now couldn't see a damned thing with them on, he looked at Sirius and waited to see what he said.
Taking Harry's chin in his hand, Sirius tilted his head so he could look directly into his godson's eyes. Grinning, he nodded slowly. This was perfect. The eye color matched exactly and it hid the sheen in Harry's eyes perfectly. Yes, this was what they needed. “This is great, Harry! It’s the solution we needed. It covers what's there. Perfect! How do they feel?”
“They're fine now that I'm used to them being in my eyes. It felt odd at first, but now it's like they aren't there,” Harry admitted with a grin.
“Good! We'll work with this part this way while concentrating on you acting like you used to. As we won't have to do that too much, it shouldn't be hard.” Sirius grinned.
Shrugging, Harry said, “We'll manage. I get why I have to do it, but don't care what they see, honestly.”
“I'd prefer not to have speculation out there about this bit,” Sirius told him firmly. “With us being bonded, that should deflect most of it as it's the juicier bit to gossip about. I just don't want to deal with questions from anyone on this part or what happened. That would only get attention focused our way that we don't want. And will probably set you off.”
Thinking that over, Harry gave a slow nod. “I get that.”
“The less speculation, the more we're left alone,” Sirius added, figuring that would make Harry understand better. “For now, I don't think we have to worry. Kingsley is in charge and will keep most everyone away. It's after that we might have problems.”
“They just need to stay away,” Harry told him, shaking his head.
“And I'll make damned sure of that,” Sirius told him once more. “After we tend to what we have to, you and I are staying away from everyone if we can at all manage it. At least until some bits settle. We'll then go from there.” Figuring that was all that needed said on that topic, he decided to press on.
Grabbing the collar and leash off the table, Sirius snagged the instruction sheet that came with it. There was plenty he could do with this thing, and planned to, including his own spells. For now though, he would see what was here besides the invisibility one that he had to have on it. As it was bought in a sex shop, he wasn't sure if it had what he needed on it or not. Reading through the list, he quickly activated the invisibility bit then a couple other minor ones, like lengthening the leash on it as long as he would want it. The rest—he didn't need that shite as it was more for roleplay, like forcing someone to make animal noises or whatever. He thought he had what he needed for the rest, so it wasn't a big deal.
Figuring it was a start and in place enough, he straightened up then looked at Harry. Now was the time to see how much of a struggle his godson would put up over this. That he wasn't sure of from some signals. All he hoped was it wouldn’t be a huge fight. Stiffening slightly, he said, “Come over here and kneel in front of me, Harry.” Stopping, he waited to see what his godson would do. In the end, this was a battle he would win, but he wanted to see how much of a fight was coming, if there was one.
Looking at the collar and leash in Sirius' hands, Harry was warring over it. Yes, he helped pick it out and agreed to this, but he also knew what it meant. No, he wasn't sure what all Sirius could do with it, of course, but he was damned certain it was more than just symbolic and the invisibility bit. That he wasn't sure if he liked. That darkness—it was warring against this, though he adored what could come of it and wanted to belong completely to Sirius. That's where the worst of the problem was coming from.
“Harry, now,” Sirius told him, voice hard. Then he waited to see what would happen. Once this was over, he would have Harry tell him what went on in his head so he could judge where so much was coming from. If he knew, he might be able to work around it in the future to stave off fights. At least he hoped that he could manage. That was something he would have to wait and see on.
Shivering as he looked at the collar, Harry gritted his teeth and tried to decide what to do. It was a step, a huge one, and he knew it. To do it meant that he willingly went down this path and there was probably no pulling back. That darkness was struggling against it every step of the way, but something else was pulling him to obey. After several quiet moments, where the only thing he could hear was his own blood rushing in his ears, Harry stood on shaky legs then took the couple of steps he needed before kneeling down, lowering his eyes. Shaking madly, he just waited, teeth gritted as that dark part of him screamed at what he was doing, wanting to fight Sirius over it. In fact, he could tell that it was going to continue to do so, though he wasn't sure how he knew that.
Pleased with this, Sirius quickly slipped the collar around Harry's neck and fastened it, making damned sure to put the charm on it that made it to where only he could take it off. Then he attached the leash to it, slipping the loop at the end of it around his own wrist. Again, he made sure the spell was on it so only he could take it off then put the charm on the loop so he had to purposely remove it. This was good. Though he had seen the expression on Harry's face that told him something in his godson was fighting it every step of the way, Harry had managed. Once it was all on, he pulled Harry close, though not having him rise from his knees and held him, rubbing his back softly. Kissing him on top of the head, he said, “There we go. All in place. Now you have official confirmation that you're mine. Only we'll see it, though.” Still holding him close, feeling how tense he was, Sirius didn't say anything, just rubbed his back softly until he felt him start to relax. He would wait awhile to figure out what brought on the expressions he saw. Once he knew, he would figure out how to deal with what happened or at least get a clue where it was coming from.
When he felt Harry relax, he gave a tug on the leash, waiting for him to stand. Once his godson did, he snagged the catalogs from the stand then grabbed Harry's hand. Tugging him forward, he had him lay on the bed on his stomach. Tossing the catalogs up in front of Harry, he flopped over him, though propping himself up so his full weight wasn't on the younger wizard. Slipping an arm under Harry, he held him close. Kissing him on the shoulder, he rifled through the mass there and grabbed the one from the paint store. Opening it, he said, “Let's work on what we want for the rooms. That should pass the time for us. Once we have an idea, we can order what we want then have Kreacher get to it. It won't take him long to get it all in place. After we get the colors, we'll work on the carpet and furniture.” Leaning his head down a bit, he kissed Harry on the shoulder then whispered, “I'm proud of you, Harry.”
Smiling at that, pressing up against his godfather a bit, adoring how it felt to have Sirius' body cover his, Harry opened the book and began leafing through it, asking questions about what Sirius wanted. With that, he began to relax. Oh, that darkness was still there and not pleased with what he had done, but he was ignoring it for now. He would deal with that later. For now, he would enjoy this.
Looking at the many color schemes, Sirius snorted, “We are not doing anything pink. I'm telling you that now. The same with baby blue. No chance. Neon is out as well. I don't want my eyes revolting when I walk into a room. No way. So, don't even consider those, Harry.”
Chuckling, Harry told him, “I wouldn't have thought about it. I don't want shades of white either. That's dead common. I rather fancy some of the darker colors, though not necessarily really dark, if you get what I mean.”
“I do and that's an idea I like. We can make it plenty bright in here in other ways and get some more natural light in, so that doesn't matter. Let's see what we can find.” Scratching his head, he looked up then said, tone distracted, “Maybe some skylights here in the bedroom. That and do something with the roof. I'm sure we can set it up so we can put something up there we can use to sit or whatever. Like a rooftop garden type thing. Who knows. There's plenty we can manage to arrange.”
“I like the idea of skylights,” Harry admitted with a nod.
“We'll look into that,” Sirius told him with a nod. “Shouldn't be that hard to install. If Kreacher can't, I'm sure we'll be able to do it. And I want some damned nice carpeting, something thick and plush. The furniture—we'll decide when we get to it though we're getting a bigger and more comfortable bed. In fact, I want to order that today. This thing—no. We aren't sleeping on it if we don't have to. Then we need to pick out all new sheets and other linens. I think almost everything in this house needs replaced. No problem there and we can manage. It'll give us something to do.”
“I like that idea,” Harry nodded, leafing through the catalog, nose wrinkling at some of the brighter and more feminine colors. “It'll make it our own that way.”
“Exactly,” Sirius grinned. “All ours.” This was good. For now, he would leave what else needed tending to. It was his thought that the more relaxed Harry was, the better this would go. So, he would wait until Harry was completely calm then press on a bit more with some other areas, like working with expressions and that. Then he'd get some information to judge what he needed to know before proceeding. After that, he would make plans. For right now, though, he wanted to enjoy this. And would. Shaking his head at some of the color schemes, he snorted then began making fun of them as Harry flipped through the book. This might take time to do anyway, something he didn't mind. After all, they now had all the time in the world together. Perfect. Utterly perfect.
