A/N: A little late on Friday, but as promised the chapter is out with a few minutes to spare. First of all, I would like to apologize as to the fact that it is almost midnight and I am posting this chapter. Mika has escaped from my dungeons. If you look in the review segments, you will find his daring escape. If any of you find him, use the dart guns and hold him until I can get him back.
Reviews:
Peri- I have a second story that is in the works on my computer and Harry is with an OC in that story, but this one I am thinking that I am going to put him with a story character.
Cullengal- Here are a few answers you have been waiting for. Two out of three aren't bad right?
Delia- I am glad that you like this Harry. I feel he is more Realistic.
On with the story.
Remus smiled softly and nodded to Harry, "I'll be alright pup, The full moon is approaching. You were healing for the last two so you didn't see me until well after."
Harry nodded, waving his hand sending his things back to his trunk, "Do you think I could go out with you this time?" He smiled softly looking at the man hoping that he would agree, "You haven't even seen my animagus form." He blushed slightly, "It's a tribute to you and Sirius."
Remus chuckled, "Well let me see what your form is and we will decide from there. Sound fair?"
Harry nodded and slipped off the bed. Before Remus stood a large dog, he had the markings of a wolf with a dark black and gray coat. Where Harry's scars on his human body were, were now standing out in white fur around the dog's body. Harry bounced around Remus barking loudly before changing back to himself, "I figured that the wolfhound would honor both of you."
Remus pulled Harry into a hard hug, "Pup, did you choose this form?"
Harry nodded as he stepped back from Remus, "Yeah. The actual breed is a Saarloos wolfdog. Since you are more like a father to me, I wanted to give you this to show that I love you. You are all that I have left of my family. Mum and Dad were gone before I even knew them. Sirius was gone before I had a chance to get to know him like I wanted to, but he was never really like a father figure, more like an older brother or even the slightly crazy uncle. You Remus, are what I want to be like if I survive the war. You are kind and compassionate without a fault. I knew that about you from the first moment I spoke to you on the train almost four years ago. When I found out you knew my parents and were there when I was just a baby, I knew that I was going to do my best to make you proud." He cleared his throat and looked away as the tears started to form in his eyes, "Well lets go and see if Dumbledore can finally tell me what I am."
Remus fought hard to hold back his own tears before pulling Harry into another tight hug, "Not only am I proud of you Harry, but your parents and Sirius would be too." He gave him a squeeze and slapped him lightly on the back before stepping back, brushing down his robes, "Lets go and solve the mystery of your inheritance."
Remus and Harry were sitting in the Headmaster's office waiting patiently waiting for Dumbledore to start the conversation. The old man was sitting with his hands in a steeple, sucking on a lemon drop debating on how to start the discussion. He took a deep breath before finally deciding where to start, "Harry, what I am going to tell you may come as a shock, but please hold all of your questions until I have finished." He waited for Harry to nod, "When the school was first being built, there was a dark wizard by the name of Acerarak Ravenloft. He was known for trying to bring those who had passed away back to life, but never accomplished his goals. He was put to death a short time later after being found guilty of necromancy. Granted the man never succeeded, he was still a threat."
Harry looked up at Dumbledore, "Sir, can we skip the history lesson and just get down to what in the name of Merlin I am?"
Dumbledore sighed, calmly popping a lemon drop into his mouth, "I'm getting to it my boy. As I was saying, Ravenloft left three sons who changed their names after their father's trial to distance themselves from him and his dark deeds. Ravenloft was an Eladrin, one of the oldest races of elves."
Harry opened his mouth to say something but Remus cut him off, "Is that what Harry is? An Eladrin or an elf? How could James have an extinct species in his blood?"
Dumbledore looked at the two of them, sucking on the candy in his mouth, "Remus, James didn't just have Eladrin blood in his family but several others as well." He stood, walking over to one of his bookshelves and pulled several large tomes off the shelf and handing them to Harry, "These are your family tree and inheritance guides. We will go to Gringotts and take care of all that comes with your new inheritance." He stood looking over at the two of them, "The last book is devoted to all that is known of the Eladrin before they either died out or went into seclusion to protect themselves from the Wizarding World." He smiled and nodded to both Harry and Remus, "Now my boys, shall we go and show Harry his new rooms?"
Harry was staring at the books in his lap nodding, "Yes sir. That would be great. Then Madam Pomfrey can actually have some free time instead of looking after me."
Dumbledore chuckled, "There is that Harry." He clapped his hands, "Well let's press on shall we?" He ushered them to the door, leading them across the castle to an unused portion of the third floor.
Harry's skin began to crawl at the memories of his first encounter of Voldemort, "Sir, are we near where Hagrid kept Fluffy?"
Dumbledore nodded and pointed farther down the corridor, "If you remember it was at the end of the Hall." He stood in front of portrait of a man with wild dark brown hair, "Harry this is Emeric Switch. He will guard your rooms and only allow myself and who ever else you key to the wards" He took Harry's hand and pressed it against the frame of the painting muttering under his breath in rapid Latin. He released Harry's hand, "You are now the one in charge of the room. The castle will help you to make these rooms more comfortable. Remus will be staying down the hall behind the portrait of Iris Pivis." He nodded to both of them before taking his leave of them.
As Harry entered his room, he noticed that he had a large sofa and matching chairs situated in front of a fireplace. His floor was a dark marble accentuated by small area rugs throughout the room. To the left of the door, wrapping around the room to the fireplace were heavy oak bookshelves, just waiting to be filled. On the other side of the fireplace was a large desk and a black leather chair. Chuckling he knew where he was going to be doing most of his work and studying. He moved from room to room admiring each one.
To the left of his study was his bathroom was decorated in shades of blue, ranging from a dark sky blue to a soft baby blue. He took a quick look at the room and smiled taking in the contrasting colors of the bright silver of the faucet and the midnight blue of the marble. He left the bathroom to look at his bedroom. His bed was in the center of the bedroom, pressed against the far wall was his bed. It was made of a dark mahogany like his trunk, with dark purple sheets and a quilt showing the Hogwarts' crest in gold on a field of black. He nodded his approval of the rooms and smiled as he summoned his trunks, unpacking everything.
It took Harry the better part of the afternoon to put everything away how he wanted it. All of the books that he was going to be needing to study for his NEWTs were sitting on his desk. The transfiguration and potions texts were close to the desk so they were within easy reach, making sure he would know which book he was grabbing instead of mistaking one for another. Satisfied that everything was where it should be and that nothing could be done to improve the placement of his items and laid down on the sofa allowing himself a moment to relax.
He must have fallen asleep because he was woken by a heavy knock on his door. He bolted upright trying to catch his breath as he looked over at the door, "Enter." He scrubbed his face with his left hand as his right accioed one of his charms texts. He pulled the ribbon out from part of the way into the book and started skimming the passages before looking up and seeing Snape standing in the middle of his sitting room, "Yes Professor? What can I do for you?"
Snape glared at Harry, "You missed dinner, Potter. I was unwillingly volunteered to see what was wrong with you. Albus seemed to be under the impression that you had fallen down a well or were captured by bandits." He shook his head trying to make light of the situation rather than his usual snarky self, knowing that he was on thin ice when it came to the trust of the younger wizard.
Harry seemed startled that Snape had made a joke, "I was unaware of any wells on the grounds sir. And as for bandits, when did we start living in the 1600's?" He snorted quietly, "I understand that, yes we live in a castle with no electricity. Yes we use carriages, and yes we even still use quills, but bandits and wells?" He shook his head and turned back to the charms book that was still sitting on his lap. He flipped the page, not even looking up at Snape, "I had fallen asleep after unpacking and situating everything so it would be more conducive and less taxing searching for the proper text." He nodded looking over at the bookshelf, wandlessly casting accio for another book related to the charms book that he was currently reading and flipped to the index. He nodded as he found the entry and flipped it open to the correct entry reading more about the particular charm.
Snape stared at the young man in front of him watching him study, "Have you given any thought to my offer?"
Harry set his books down and looked over at Snape, "I have. I will give you the answer by the end of the week." He sent both books back to the shelf without using his wand before standing, "Care for some tea?" He headed off to his kitchen filling the kettle. He puttered about the kitchen grabbing a few eggs and a pack of bacon from his spelled cupboard. He took out a pair of pans cooking up his food, "Now you can tell the Headmaster that I have eaten as well as not fallen into a well." He smiled plating some for himself before pouring tea for the two of them. He motioned for Snape to take his cup before sitting at the small table to eat, "Go ahead Professor, I promise it won't kill you to have the tea."
Snape sighed and took a seat opposite from Harry as he added a bit of milk to his tea before sipping it, "How long have you been able to cast spells without the use of your wand?"
Harry swallowed his food and took a sip from his tea, "Since fifth year, after Sirius fell through the veil. I knew I had to be stronger to fight everything that would be coming. I may not have shown the fact that I have applied myself to learn more. Sadly in order for my plan to work correctly and to remove the psychopath that has controlled my life since I was infant to work, I couldn't let on that I was far more advanced than I should be." He smiled softly to himself, "After my NEWTs are proctored, I am going to be keeping the proctors in the castle until the results are found." He took a sip of his tea trying to think of his wording, "I am going to obliviate them so no one will find out. I am going to talk to Dumbledore about my plan. Hopefully he will be on board for it. It protects everyone, at least until school starts back up."
