Hadrian landed, almost gracefully, in the middle of a stone Amphitheatre. Looking up and out of the amphitheater, he noticed a large forest with buildings scattered throughout it. Harry instantly loved the wild look of the place.
“Hello, Lord Potter.” A cool, elegant voice pulled Harry’s attention to the red haired woman behind him. She wore a simple monotone gray robe; however, it was cut elegantly to show the lady’s class.
“Hello...” Hadrian trailed off, not knowing who the woman was, even though she seemed to know him.
“My name is Veda; I spoke with your godfather during your illness and contacted the Elders on what was wrong with you. I am glad you to see you are feeling better.” She gave Hadrian a tight smile. Some might think was not happy to be with Harry, but he could tell she just wasn’t a soft person, similar to his Uncle Lucius. “Welcome to Lemuria.”
“Thank you for all your help, Veda.” Harry gave her a big smile. “I am very excited to be here, even if it a bit early and cause I was dying and all that.”
“If you will follow me,” Veda motioned up and out of the theater towards a long and short building near theater. “This is the City Center; we were just in the main theatre, where most large gatherings take place. The nearest buildings are the Education Center, where we are headed and the Dining Hall, which you were looking towards after you landed.”
“Where is everyone? I know it is early morning, but shouldn’t some people be around?” Hadrian inquired, looking around for signs of life.
“Most people are at the Canyon Edge Temple, a good walk that way,” She pointed through the forest; left of the building they were walking to. “They are giving their morning prayers to the Goddess; her first festival is this weekend.”
Harry nodded as they moved around the edge of the building and up to large dark wood doors with red handles.
“This is the Education Center, as I mentioned before, it is broken up into multiple sections for many types of learning.” Veda opened one of the doors and led Harry inside. “If you had come here in the spring, during the Mating Festival, you would have had a day with the other incoming unmated Subs to ask already mated Subs anything you felt you needed to know and for them to go over the basics of the Festival and for Vipers raised without knowledge of their heritage to be properly informed of anything they need to know. In lieu of that, one of the Subs who normally teaches during the Spring Festival will be with you for the day as you get your bearings and to answer any of your questions.”
“Is it you or another Sub?” Hadrian asked, his green eyes darting around center, taking in all the educational signs and announcements.
Veda stopped abruptly in front of one of the many doors that led out the main hall.
“I am a Dom, so no, you will not be with me, Hadrian,” She explained, causing a Harry to feel a wash of embarrassment cover him.
“I am so sorry, I did mean to...”
Veda held up a hand to stop Harry’s apology.
“I took no offense, female Doms are rare with Vipers.”
“I am still sorry.” Harry ran his hand through his hair and then tried to smooth it back down. “I had just been thinking that you remind me of my Uncle Lucius, who is a Dom. If I was paying attention, I would have put two and two together.”
Veda gave him a small smile turning to open the door they had stopped in front of, she moved out of the way to allow Harry in first.
Looking around the small classroom, Hadrian noticed a dark skinned man, who seemed very annoyed at the smaller pregnant woman he was standing toe to toe with.
The pregnant woman twirled around to face him and Harry couldn’t keep the shock off his face. It was a bubbly, pregnant and glowing... Veda?
“Hello! You must be Hadrian!” The woman announced her big smile and colorful clothes signaling just how different she was from Veda, who had to be her twin.
Where Veda was solemn and contained, this woman was expressive and energetic.
“Hello, not Veda at all,” Harry replied, earning a giggle from the lady.
“I’m Melina; Veda is my twin, as I’m sure you’ve guessed.” Melina bound forward to Harry a hug, which was a little difficult due to her belly. “This is my mate, Alan, ignore his glares, he doesn’t want me on assignment while preggers.”
Hadrian almost got whiplash from how different the sisters were, especially since Veda was a Dom and Melina was, obviously, a Sub.
“It is lovely to meet you,” Harry smiled at Melina and then gave Alan a nod. “I don’t want to cause any trouble.”
“Oh, you aren’t causing any trouble! Alan just has this irrational fear that the baby will fall out if I walk around without his direct supervision.” She turned and gave her mate a big smile.
Alan made a huffing noise and gave Melina an exasperated look, his light brown eyes and full lips betraying him as they turned into a smile a moment later.
“I have no idea how you put up with her,” Veda remarked, rolling her eyes at her sister.
“Oh, Veda, I can’t wait until you meet your Sub! I hope she’s the most effervescent, high-spirited and annoyingly peppy person ever born!” Melina gave her sister a bright and, slightly, evil smile.
“The Goddess wouldn’t be that cruel,” Veda’s face didn’t change much as she spoke, but her eyes changed a little, noting just how frightening that idea was to her.
“We won’t be doing too much today, Hadrian,” Melina explained to Harry. “I will be showing you around and we will go over what types of social events will be happening this weekend, so you can be on the lookout for your mate.”
“That sounds good, where are we starting?” Hadrian answered, turning to Melina.
“We’ll start in the main hall of this building; there are some things I want to make sure you understand about Subs.” Melina announced loudly as she steered Harry to the door of the classroom, and then quickly slipped through the door with Harry, slamming the door shut and setting a spell on the door with her mate and sister still inside.
Turning back to Harry, Melina gave him a big smile and looped her arm through his and started back the way he came in with Veda.
“Don’t worry the spell I set on the door will go away in about ten to fifteen minutes and they will be able to leave the room.” Melina led Harry back out the main door and outdoors where Vipers were starting to mingle about. “We will really be stopping at the Visitor Center first, that is where you will sleep until you meet your mate, and then you will live with them.”
“Uh, okay,” Harry eloquently mumbled. “All the buildings around here are public, right?”
“Yes, the City Center is all public buildings, homes are grouped in a village a little bit of a walk that way,” Melina pointed past the Amphitheatre they had just reached. “There are more homes scattered around Lemuria, not just in the village, my home is on the far outskirts of the village.”
“After the Visitors Center, where would you like to go?” Melina inquired, smiling and waving at a few people as they walked past the stage of the Amphitheatre and towards a long, short building, similar to the Education Center, but with a green roof. “I would not suggest the Education Center. I saw your eyes looking about while we were there, but at this point, no classes are in and there isn’t much to actually learn there.”
“Well, then, how about the Canyon Edge Temple? I know we’ve missed morning services, but I would like to see it, if that is alright?”
“That is absolutely alright!” Melina agreed, giving him a big smile as they made it to the door of the Visitor Center. “They main services may be over, but the Altars to the Goddess are always open and the view is amazing!”
First she showed Harry around the main Visitor Center hall, this had a large map of the Lemuria, and facts about the land and its history. Then, they went into the dorm section of the Center.
There were six large rooms, three on each side of the hallway, Doms on one side and Subs on the other.
“Right now, most people visiting are here with family and are staying at family homes, so you may only see a handful of Vipers staying here at the moment,” Melina explained, walking into one of the Sub dorms. “There are far more Vipers staying here during the Spring Festivals.”
Leaving the Visitor Center, the duo headed for the Temple, which was situated on the edge of the Goddesses Canyon.
“So, what are Mating Wraiths like?” Melina asked, twirling her long multi-colored skirt around as they walked.
“Well, they are just dreams really. But, they feel more real and you remember them vividly, you know the person with is real and you can feel a bond between both of you,” Hadrian tried to explain, always having a hard time putting into words how a Wraith felt. “Sorry, they are hard to describe, there is so much emotion and this underlying connection, and it is difficult to put into words. For the longest time, I didn’t speak of them, they were too sacred.”
“I understand,” Melina gave him a little smile and steered him over a little to continue towards the Temple. “It is the same way trying to explain what bonding with your mate is like, I always have unmated Subs ask me and I can never truly express the feeling of being two people, but one at the same time.”
Harry nodded and the two journeyed in silence for a short while.
“You were young when they started, right?” Melina picked the conversation back up several minutes later.
“Yeah, I’ve had them as long as I can remember,” Hadrian admitted, a wistful smile coming to his face. “They are always similar, in the same location, but as I got older they changed a bit.”
“They got naughty?” Melina gave Harry a teasing smile and laughed when he blushed hard, confirming her suspicions. “Well, I think they are terribly romantic!”
Hadrian was going to respond, but they exited the trees and came upon the Temple and the gorgeous canyon.
The large stone temple sat on the edge of the canyon and went down into it, etched into the side of the very canyon, large balconies and overlooks allowed for viewing of the deep canyon. The center of the temple was a large dome, smaller domes were scattered around the center one, tall archways allowing easy entrance and airflow in the warm environment. The stone used the build the temple was a cool grey and the canyon behind it was layers of warm browns, reds and bronze. It was breathtaking.
After shaking Harry out of his stupor, Melina walked him through the different areas of the temple, both paid respects to the large Goddess figure in the main temple dome. And, both enjoyed the view for a bit before Melina said it was time to head back, it was nearly time for the afternoon meal and Harry might be able to meet his mate if they get there early to watch people coming into the Dining Hall.
They were a little bit early, so they continued passed the Dining Hall and towards the Amphitheatre where it sounded like someone was giving a speech.
“I think an Elder must be welcoming people,” Melina noted, tilting her head to try and get a better listen.
Melina let out a small scream when she was pulled away from Harry’s side and into the arms of her mate.
“Alan!” She screeched, slapping his arm while he smirked at her. “Scare the pregnant woman half to death why don’t you!”
“You’ll be fine,” Alan’s highly accented voice rang out amongst the trees; he switched his grip on his mate, his hands sliding down her back to gently hold her. “Aren’t you the one always saying you aren’t a delicate flower?”
Melina giggled and smiled up at her mate, reaching up she took his face in her hands and gave him a smacking kiss.
“How much did you miss me?” she inquired with a smirk.
Alan responded with a chuckle and an eye roll.
“Where are you two really headed this time? I have to meet with some fellow Educators and would like to know where my pregnant mate will be.” He gave Melina a pointed look.
“We are headed to the Amphitheatre and then to the Dining Hall for lunch, I’m starving!”
“Okay, I will meet you at the Dining Hall in a little bit.” Alan leaned down and gave her a little kiss; the two pulled apart and shared a look that had Hadrian’s heart skip a beat. He couldn’t wait to have that with his mate.
Alan gave Harry a nod before heading off towards the Education Center.
Melina stared after Alan for a moment, a little smirk on her face.
“Okay, onto the Amphitheatre!” Melina announced, turning back towards the theatre and starting to walk again. “We will check out the crowd at the theatre and then move on to the Dining Hall! What does your mate look like, Hadrian? I can help you spot him, maybe!”
“He is taller than me; the top of my head goes to his shoulder.” Harry hurried up to walk next to Melina, and then slowed to meet her pace. “He is pale like me, but not as pale as me. He has dark hair; it is a little wavy with a scattering of grey at his temples. His eyes are dark blue. He is very handsome... sexy really.”
Melina couldn’t hold back her giggle as Hadrian’s voice went from clinical explanation to wistful. Hadrian blushed when he realized he had almost gone into a daydream about his mate.
“Sorry,” he mumbled, his blush deepening.
“Don’t be, we all think our mates are the sexiest things on legs,” Melina gave him a conspiratorial smile as they made it to the Amphitheatre, and saw a small group of people announcing some events at the Temple and the theatre that were happening that weekend. “Some of the Elders are just telling newcomers what is happening this weekend.”
Both Harry and Melina listened to the end of the announcements and watched as the group left the stage, the Elders were surrounded by children asking questions as they stepped down and the group seemed delighted to answer.
Hadrian’s breath caught in his throat as one of the Elders stepped away from the group and knelt down by a few kids who were excitedly asking him something, he gave them a smile and shifted into his true form, his pale skin turning into a colorful mix of green scales and his dark hair vanishing, leaving a smooth head of green scales. He switched back quickly, causing the children to jump and giggle at him.
Melina was talking to him, but Hadrian couldn’t move for a moment, his mate was there, just a short walk down into the theatre.
“Hadrian? Are you okay?”
When she couldn’t get a response, she followed his gaze and gasped when she realized he was staring at the handsome Elder who matched the description of his mate perfectly.
“He’s your mate, isn’t he?” She asked, not sure if Harry would respond.
“Yes,” Hadrian answered, not able to tear his eyes away from the man slowing making his way through the group of children with his fellow Elders.
Melina didn’t answer him, but Harry didn’t think much about her as he stared down at his mate, that is until Melina came into this view, walking right up to his mate and the other Elders.
Hadrian’s heart was going to beat out of his chest as he watched Melina speak to his mate, his mates blue eyes moving over to where Hadrian was standing, their eyes locking.
His mate quickly left his fellow Elders and began walking towards Harry; Melina gave Hadrian a wave and smile before turning towards the Dining Hall to go to her own mate.
Hadrian felt a strange panic well up in him, he wanted his mate so badly, but he had this intense feeling of fear and wanting to run appear in him as his mate was so close. Harry turned and stepped behind one of the trees at the edge of the clearing; he took a deep breath and tried to calm himself, telling himself he was getting what he wanted: his mate.
A twig snapped not too far from behind the tree where Hadrian was hiding and it shocked Harry into action... and he started running, away from his mate and back towards the canyon.
Hadrian didn’t stop until he cleared the trees and was only short walk to the canyon. Looking around he realized he was alone, and was instantly angry and sad that his mate was now all the way back at the Amphitheatre.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” He demanded, angrily kicking a rock towards the canyons edge. “He was the right there! Why did you turn into a fucking coward?”
“Not a coward, you’ve come here almost a year early to find your Dom and have had to deal with a lot of emotions, an illness and leaving your home early, anyone would be a bit overwrought.” A deep, sexy voice Harry knew all too well came from just inside the tree line.
Turning, Hadrian watched as his mate stepped out the trees and up to him. They both stared at each other for a few moments, taking in each other’s features and breathing the others scent. Mating pheromones began to float off both of them, their very natures begging them to take the other as their mate.
“I’m Tom.” Tom put his hand out for Hadrian to take. “It is wonderful to finally meet you.”
“Harry... oh, well, Hadrian, Harry for short,” Harry stumbled over his words before reaching out to take his mates hand.
Hadrian couldn’t stop the moan that came out of him when his skin touched his mates, looking up at Tom Hadrian noticed his already dark blue eyes were nearly black.
Harry let out a surprised yell when Tom pulled him forward and Harry collided with his mate’s hard body.
“Hold on tight, Little Viper,” Tom whispered in his ear, turning Harry’s insides into mush. “We are going to Apparate.”
Hadrian hugged his Dom tight, burying his face in his mates chest, letting out a content sigh before the sensation of Apparition stole his breath for a moment.
They stood still in each other’s arms for a few moments after landing, Tom finally stepped away.
“This is the other side of the canyon, where my home is,” Tom told him, gesturing behind Harry. “You can just barely see the Canyon Edge Temple, if you look hard enough.”
Turning around, Harry was rewarded with a beautiful view of the canyon, just to the left and far off, he could see the cool coloring the Temple against the warm colors of the canyon.
“I thought this side of the canyon had rough terrain and wasn’t occupied.” Harry looked up at Tom, a question in his voice.
“The area is much harder to navigate, that is why all the public buildings and the village is on the other side of the canyon. There are a few other temples and groups of housings on the farther ends of the canyon, as those areas are not as rough, just more wooded, so there is less area to build. This side is a mix of rough rock areas and heavily wooded areas, making habitable areas few and far between.” Tom explained, pointing to the far ends of the canyon and back towards the woods and beyond, where Harry could see some rocky hill areas. “Some of us have our homes on this side of the canyon, however we don’t walk home, we Apparate for safety reasons and know the area pretty well. I, for one, like some time away from the busyness of the public areas and enjoy having my home on this side, where I can get peace to research and read.”
Hadrian nodded, understanding the need for alone time and privacy.
“Where is your house?” Harry asked, fighting the urge to lean into his mate.
“Right over there.” Tom pointed to a large dome next to the canyons edge and what looked like a closet with a door.
The dome looked like the top of a greenhouse with no walls, the glass was shiny and Harry couldn’t see through it. The one room next to the dome was small and had a single door; it looked like a standalone broom cupboard from Hogwarts.
“That must be one hell of an expansion charm,” Hadrian said, staring at the little box where his mate supposedly lived.
Tom’s laughter rang out and bounced back from the canyon, giving Harry a tingly feeling.
“Why don’t you go inside, Little Viper?” Tom offered, nudging Hadrian towards the door.
Harry gave him a smile, loving that his Dom called him by his Wraith nickname. Hadrian walked up the door and tried to open it, but the wards kept him out.
“Place your left hand, palm down, on the center of the door,” Tom spoke into his ear, standing just behind Harry, barely brushing against him.
Harry did as he was asked, and then Tom placed his own hand over Harry’s and spoke an incantation in Parseltounge.
“You are now keyed into the wards; this is now your home as much as it is mine,” Toms voice rumbled through him, as he was pressed against Hadrian’s back.
Torn between the lovely feeling of being up against his mate and wanting to see just how Tom lived in this little box, Hadrian opened the door.
Inside was a staircase that went down a ways and then had another landing which turned into more stairs down. Going down to the next landing, Harry was mesmerized by a beautiful abstract painting on the small section of wall.
“It’s wonderful,” Harry whispered, his green eyes taking in the swirls of red, orange and white. “It looks familiar somehow.”
“That would be because the brother to this piece is in Potter Manor.” Tom explained, stepping down onto the landing next to Harry. “It has a different color scheme from this one, though.”
After thinking a moment, Hadrian realized the painting Tom was talking about.
“It is in the hallway leading to the sunroom.” Tom gave a little nod to Harry’s response, before Hadrian turned fully towards his mate with a surprised look in his eyes. “How do you know that? And how did this painting get here if it belongs with one in my house?”
“When I passed my Elder trials your mother gave me this painting as a gift. Lily knew I loved both paintings, but this one in particular since the colors called to me.”
“You knew my mother?” Hadrian gasped softly, staring wide-eyed at his mate.
“I knew both of your parents, they were great friends.” Tom sighed deeply, his eyes taking a troubled glint. “Their deaths were a shock and not a day goes by that I do not miss them.”
“Why have I never met you? I don’t remember Sirius telling me about a friend named Tom,” Harry questioned as he tried to remember if a Tom had ever come up in association with his parents.
“That is a bit of a long story.” Tom took a deep breath as he tried to think of how to explain who he was to his mate. “I was forced to leave the UK. Why don’t we get down into the house and sit and talk?”
Hadrian nodded and turned to go down the last flight of stairs. Stepping down, Harry turned away from the landing and walked into the living room.
“Merlin...” Harry breathed his eyes going wide as he took in the room and its view.
The room was long with a grouping of comfortable, rustic looking sofas and chairs situated in the middle of the room. Everything from the floors to the walls was a dark wood, which would have looked oppressive if not for the light tan touches of the rugs and furniture. To the left of Harry was a long wall with several doors and a curved staircase that went down. To the right was a wall of glass, showing off a stunning view of the inside of the canyon.
“This is brilliant!” Harry tore his eyes away from the view to smile up at Tom who was now standing next to him. “So, no expansion charms, you just live in the side of the canyon!”
“Well, there are some expansion charms, so the structure of the canyon wall is not compromised.” Tom returned Harry’s smile and stepped around him to fully enter the room. “I am glad you like it! The glass is charmed so it doesn’t get too bright and so if someone is hiking in the canyon they can’t look up and see my bits if I decide to walk around naked.”
Hadrian giggled and moved up to the glass, taking in the rock formations along the bottom the canyon, which was still a long way down. Harry could make out a few creeks flowing along the bottom of the canyon, causing a glint of blue and silvers to sparkle out from the browns, tans, reds and olive tones of the canyon walls.
“It’s spectacular!” Harry announced into the glass, a cloud forming in front of his face from his breath.
“Want to see the rest of the house?” Tom asked, reaching his hand out after chuckling at his mate.
Harry turned back to Tom and took his hand, stepping away from the window.
“This is the top floor, we are in the living room, and on the far end of this room is a formal dining room so any entertaining can all be on this floor.” Waving his wand towards the end of the room, the wall collapsed away to reveal a large dining room. “The first door is to the greenhouse and my research lab and study. The second goes to a lavatory. The stairs go to the bedrooms, a family room, kitchen, family dining room and library.”
“I’m sorry, did you say greenhouse and research lab?” Harry inquired, his eyes lit up in a new excitement.
“Yes, you saw the dome when we were outside that is the top the greenhouse.” Tom walked over and opened the door to the greenhouse/lab, gesturing Harry to go in. “Let me show you, real quick.”
Going inside, Harry found himself in a circular room with gardening and potion tools stored around in bins and on shelving, on the far left side was a large glass double door and to the right was a fairly standard wood door that was open.
“I am strengthening the runes and spells on the greenhouse at the moment, so I can’t walk you through there for a few more days. Every six months the biome magic on the greenhouse has to be recast so nothing fails. I have several plant habitats close together so I can grow a wide variety of plants, the magic can fight each other sometimes, so for three days twice a year I can’t go in while they charge.”
Harry nodded, walking up to the greenhouse door and staring at the runes etched into the doors and around them, the runes glowed slightly.
“This is the lab.” Tom stood by the opened door, giving a shake of his head for Hadrian to follow after him.
They stepped inside a large office, with filing cabinets and bookshelves lining the walls except for the door out and a door to the left.
“This is my office, the cabinets have all my research in them and the bookshelves have books pertaining to whatever my research in on at the moment.”
Tom went over to the next door, and opened it. Harry couldn’t help but grin at the fully stocked potions lab they had just entered. It had everything one could need to brew potions or practice alchemy; Harry noted the tools on one of the six tables that filled most of the room.
“There is a potions storeroom through that door,” Tom pointed to a door on the other end of the room. “The other door is a lavatory so no hurried trips back out during intense research days.”
“So, you do potions and alchemy research?” Hadrian wanted to know as much about his mate as possible, especially now that he knew he seemed to like the same academic study as Harry.
“I do, I focus mainly on how Runes and Arithmancy can enhance or help circumvent issue in potions. I am currently working on an updated Wolfsbane potion. I have been working on that one on and off since I was in Hogwarts, but the breakthrough for that potion is hard coming.” Tom got a faraway look in his eye while puzzling over the difficult potion.
“My research paper to get into the Advanced NEWT potions class was on Wolfsbane, I could give you a copy, if you’d like,” Harry offered, suddenly feeling timid about possibly knowing something that his older mate did not.
“I would love that, thank you, Hadrian,” Tom smiled at him; cause a new eruption of butterflies through Harry’s stomach. “Why don’t we move downstairs, where I can show you the rest of the house?”
Harry smiled as they stepped down to the bottom floor of the home.
The living room was long, like the upstairs, however, it had an open kitchen under where the stairs into the house where above. Under part of the greenhouse was an open dining room and under Tom’s office was an open library. The whole area was lit up by the same wall of window that the upstairs had.
“I love it!” Harry smiled as he took in the colors of the room, it had hardwood floors like the top floor, however these floor were a lighter color and the walls weren’t paneled they were the natural stone of the canyon smoothed down.
“Down this way are the bedrooms,” Tom pulled Harry’s attention back to him as he motioned to a hallway just to the left of where they descended. “As of now, there is only the master suite and two guest bedrooms, but it was designed to add more as needed.”
“May I see the master suite?” Harry asked, shyly looking up at his mate. “That is where I’ll be staying, right?”
Tom smiled softly down at his mate before turning down the short hallway, pulling Harry along via their still entwined fingers. Down the hallway on the left were two doors that were closed, just a few steps into the hallway on the right was another door which Tom stopped in front of and opened it.
“Go on, Little Viper,” he smirked down at Harry, gesturing for him to enter first.
Harry smiled brightly at the room that greeted him. Just like the top floor and the family living room, the far wall was all windows, showcasing the canyons beauty. The other walls were the smoothed down stone of the canyon, the floors a lovely wood with several rugs giving the neutral toned room some pops of green. Along the left side of the room was a very large canopy bed with dark green curtains and coverlet, Harry couldn’t stop the thrill that went through him as he took in the decadent looking bed he would share with his mate.
“Through there is the bath and closet.” Tom pointed to the door on the same wall the bed was against. “We can add your clothing to the closet; it has too much space for just my things it was designed for two people use. I designed this place to be my haven, and I also hoped my mate would like it.”
“I love it!” Harry smiled up at his mate, a flutter going through his heart at the vulnerable tone of Tom’s voice. “The view is amazing here too!”
Harry let go of Tom’s hand and walked over to the wall of window, there was a plush loveseat and low coffee table which had some parchments and books on it situated a few steps back from the windows.
Harry sat down on the loveseat and looked back at Tom who still stood by the door.
“Yes, the view is spectacular, I get lost in it sometimes,” Tom agreed, moving across the room and sitting next to Hadrian.
Harry laced their fingers together and scooted closer to his mate, leaving no space between them.
Tom smiled down at the young man, picking up their entwined hands he kissed the back of Harry’s hand. A bright, happy smile bloomed on Harry’s face and he nuzzled his mate’s chest, taking a deep breath of Tom’s scent.
Tom had wanted to sit and talk to Harry about the past and who he was, but when Harry took in his scent it set off another explosion of pheromones from Harry and Tom’s thoughts crumbled away.
Reaching over with his free hand, Tom tilted Harry’s face up and pressed his lips to his mates.
Both men groaned at the contact, Tom angled his head to deepen the kiss and Harry immediately opened his mouth to his mate’s tongue. An almost hysterical noise came from Harry’s throat as he pulled away from the kiss to sit on his mate’s lap, straddling him. Harry carded his hands through his mate’s dark hair before sealing their lips together again.
The pause and shift brought Tom back to what he needed to discuss with Harry.
It would forever be one of the hardest things he had ever done, pulling away from his mate’s sweet lips and moving Harry off his lap to the other end of the loveseat.
“Before we continue this,” Tom stood, not trusting himself with the mewling noises his mate was making. “We need to talk about something.”
Even though Harry’s first instinct to his mate stopping their snogging session was to pitch a fit, he saw the seriousness on Tom’s face and remembered that they needed to talk about Harry’s parents and how Tom knew them.
“First, I need you to know that I will never purposely hurt you, nor have I ever tried!” Tom passionately announced, confusing Harry. “I also cared deeply for James and Lily, their help with my work and their friendship was priceless to me.”
“Tom, what is it?” Harry felt a bubble of dread in the pit of his stomach.
Tom pulled out his wand and sat it on the table in front of Harry before taking a step back.
“Hadrian, I am Lord Voldemort.”
Harry felt all the oxygen leave his lungs and his heart shatter into a million pieces.
