“Mafalda Hopkirk it is good to see you.”
Harry actually liked her. She might be a small wispy witch with spectacles and flyway gray hair. But she was polite and even when she had sent that letter to remind him of underage magic that was Dobby and not him.
She was courteous.
He scratched ontop of the sleeve. The jumper had to stay on no matter what.
She was nervous but she led him courteously to the a room she couldn’t enter. Harry sighed and entered. The cursed doorway would allow entry only to those cursed with a certain mark. Which in this care meant The Dark Mark.
A mark that had been forced upon him.
“Mr.Potter.”
Harry sat down Harry kept his face as neutral as he possibly could. It was at this time Harry sympathized with Snape of all people. To be surrounded by people you blatantly despised above all others. Harry understood it now.
At the head of the table was Lord Voldermort himself. Harry knew better. Dumbledore had passed down the knowledge that cost the late headmaster his arm and ultimately his life.
Tom Riddle.
Was the git’s true name. But even Harry could not deny the obvious power the git exuded.
“Itty bitty baby!” Bellatrix cackled. The murderess and kinslayer who robbed him of his godfather and a older brother. That crazy bitch who tortured Neville’s parents into insanity sat next to her bastard of a master. “Fun” this wasn’t.
The world appeared to be ending and so with strange times even hated enemies became strange bedfellows. As Luna Lovegood put it.
“Mr.Potter I trust your accommodations are sufficient.” Tom Marvolo Riddle asked. Harry looked at the “official” minister of magic.
“They are.” His voice came out strained. Good, he wanted them to know he was only here under duress. Surrounded by death eaters. What a horrid fate.
A lone Gryffindor in a den of snakes.
“Good.”
The Minister stated. At the moment the prerequisite of minister was appallingly low. Since Tom Riddle simply Avada Kedavra’ed the last one for being useless in a time of dire emergency.
The bastard was a monster but when all hope seemed lost he had at least the common decency to step up for what remained of the wizarding community in this part of the world.
Dumbledore would have known what to do… He always had the answer. But Tom had Snape kill him.
Harry didn’t care about the politics. But he kept an ear out for any mention of Weasley or anyone else he knew.
But like a common cold that infected everyone in a room. Sooner or later beneath the pleasantries there was an unmistakable sense of fear that would drag everyone sooner or later beneath the waves. Doom was coming for them all.
“Does anyone have anything they want to share?” Minister Tom Riddle stated lightly.
Harry stood up.
“I would like to thank Bellatrix” Harry started. Crazy bitch or no. She had inadvertently been the inspiration. Out of madness came information that had proved useful.
To his credit. It was entirely worth it to see the cackling and giggling murderess freeze mid breath. She looked at him with utter shock. One of them had to be an adult.
And it sure as hell wasn’t going to be her.
“Stunning spells have no effect on the true inferi. You have to burn them. “ Harry started he owed the dark wizards in this room that much.
That caught their attention alright. They all stared at him.
Harry decided to channel Dumbledore. Since he was a greater wizard than they could ever hope to be combined.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. When one remembers to turn on the light.” Harry barely remembered that speech Dumbledore gave in his third year. But that bit had always stuck with him even now.
Harry smoothly drew his wand and recalled all the good memories of his friends. The best times.
“Expecto Patronum!” Out from his wand’s tip burst a fully formed Patronus. The silvery stag raced around the room before vanishing.
He was going to be the hopeful one.
Harry wasn’t going to give up no matter what. He was after all The Boy Who Lived.
The Savior Of The Wizarding World.
At that moment he stared straight at the Dark Lord himself. Even if he dared not to look the git directly in the eyes. Cause, Tom was a mind reading bastard.
The one spell Harry knew for a fact that Voldermort himself could never cast.
For he was a dark bastard. Who’d only be devoured by maggots if he tried. During this apparent end of the world.
Their goals aligned.
One day, It might not be today, Might not be tomorrow. But a day would come and Harry could find a way to cast that bastard down.
And Harry didn’t want the git to forget.
Even for a single moment.
He knew about the Horcruxes. The secret to Voldermort’s immortality.
And Harry could be patient.
Minister Voldermort clapped.
“Thank you, for that enlightening speech. You are dismissed Mr. Potter.” Harry nodded and backed out of the room.
Harry cautiously nodded and turned to leave.
“Mr.Potter.” Harry froze and looked over his shoulder.
“Show your left arm.” Tom commanded.
Harry’s breath hitched. As he sheathed his wand and ever so slowly rolled up his left arm’s sleeve.
As he exposed the mark he had been forced to receive.
Bellatrix started screeching.
“Unworthy!” As the dark mark glared out at everyone in attendance. Harry agreed. It was hard to be “worthy” of such a cursed brand.
It wasn’t a thing of honor. But of a thing of desperation.
As Harry strode from the room.
He hurriedly pulled up his sleeve.
There was the flash of green fire as Harry stepped out of the flames. Harry took comfort from the familiar face of one of his best mates.
Hermione.
“ That bloody git. Likes to gloat.” Harry grumped. Hermione had so many questions.
“Aside from that worthless interruption. I think we should start with Incendio and Aguamenti At the same time. So any unfortunate cast doesn’t burn the this mall down. What do you think Hermione?”
Hermione nodded and started with her own ideas.
