Alright everyone. After this chapter, I should be caught up and back to posting every Monday, but it might end up being every Sunday night since I am doing this from home now. Please keep reviewing. They make me smile. Responses to reviews are at the end.
“I cannot begin to explain the severity of this matter.” Hermione, Draco, and Ron stood in front of McGonagall. Everyone else had been forced to wait outside the Headmistresses office.
Once Hermione and Draco had entered her office, McGonagall ran through a series of questions and test on Hermione. Once she had neem satisfied that Hermione wasn’t under any sort of spell or potion, she returned to her desk.
“Since you, Ms. Granger, seem to be at the center,” McGonagall started, “please explain to me what is going on.”
“Yes, Headmistress. Ron has been drinking heavily since Fred’s funeral-“
“You try losing a family member. It’s not as easy to get through as you-“
“Mr. Weasley! I was not asking you, I was asking Ms. Granger. Your attitude is completely uncalled for.” Very rarely had Hermione heard that tone from McGonagall.
Hermione reached out and took Draco’s hand before continuing. “Ron and I had never really been officially together so when I heard all the rumors, I decided to put an end to the accusations that we were together.”
“And what is Mr. Malfoy’s part in this situation?” McGonagall eyed their entwined hands.
“Draco brought me dinner because I missed it on Monday. We talked for a while and he seems to actually care. I would like to see where a relationship with him will go.” Hermione looked at Draco with a smile. He smiled back.
“The war has changed us all,” said McGonagall with a small smile on her face. “Well, Mr. Weasley,” McGonagall turned to Ron. “This is the second time you have made a false accusation. I told you before that now is not the time or place to hold onto old grudges. The more you hold onto them the more unlikely you are to move on.
“Now because this is your second offense, I will be writing to your parents-“
“Actually, Headmistress,” Hermione interrupted. “Can Ron and I both write to them instead? You can read the letters before they are sent.”
McGonagall looked at her. “That is an interesting suggestion.” She thought about it for a minute. “You are all of age, so it is time for you to own up to your actions…okay Ms. Granger. I would like both your letters at six o’clock tomorrow night. You are dismissed.”
The three of them turned and left silently. Once they were in the gargoyle stairway, Ron rounded on Hermione.
“Why did you butt in and say we should write letters?”
“Because I told your mother that I would stay in contact just like Ginny.” Hermione huffed. “Plus even if they don’t accept me as part of your family anymore, they should know why.” Hermione turned away from him.
“And what are you smirking at ferret?”
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing.” Draco brought his arm around Hermione.
“What did she say?” Ginny asked the second they came into view.
“We have to write letters to my parents, thanks to Hermione.” Ron said grudgingly.
“Oh, grow up, Ronald,” Hermione snapped. She turned to Ginny. “I’ll tell you what he said later. I have to go write my letter.”
“Okay.” Ginny and Harry gave her hugs and she left with Draco.
“I think it was a good idea,” said Draco.
“Yes, but Ron is right,” she replied, leaning into him as they walked. “They aren’t my family. They will probably not want to talk to me ever again.”
Hermione heard Draco sigh so she looked up at him. “What are you thinking?”
Draco looked at her. “Do…do you…are you regretting it? Giving me a chance, that is.”
Hermione thought about that for a second. “You already asked a question, but that can be your next question.” She looked back up at him and saw that he was thoroughly confused. “Ron and I tried to have sex, but every time we tried, he was drunk so he either couldn’t get it up or keep it up long enough. I’ve been…the only one…I’ve been giving myself some sort of satisfaction.” By the time she had finished talked, she was looking at her feet, hiding her extremely red face.
Draco lifted her chin and said, “That’s nothing to be ashamed of. Thank you for telling me.” Draco smiled. “Your turn.”
“Umm…let’s see…what’s your favorite subject?”
“Potions.” Without giving her time to respond, he asked her again, but with more confidence this time. “Do you regret giving me a chance?”
She was quiet for a minute. “No. You are different. More caring. It’s just going to take some time for everyone else to see it, too.” They were back to the portrait now.
Upon entering, Blaise and Theo bounded over to them. “Just in time. We are going to Hogsmead and you, Draco, are coming with us.” Theo said.
“No offense Granger. Guys night.” Blaise added, shooting Hermione a wink.
“What if I don’t want to go?” Draco asked.
“Draco, it’s okay,” Hermione said. “I have to write that letter anyway. I’ll see you…later?”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. Plus Ginny will probably want to talk anyway.”
“Okay, but keep the parchment by you.”
Hermione smiled. “Of course.” She gave him a quick peck on the lips and went to her room.

“Another round for you boys?” Madam Rosmerta asked.
“Yes!” Theo and Blaise said.
“Just a butterbeer for me please,” Draco said, which earned him groans of disappointment form the other two. “Someone needs to get you lot back to the castle in one piece.”
“What is one more going to hurt?” Blaise asked.
“We’ve already had five!” Draco exclaimed.
“Ah. I see what’s going on here.” Theo said.
“What?” Draco replied.
“I think I see it too,” Blaise said.
“See what?”
“Yep. There it is. Hear him getting all defensive?” Theo asked Blaise.
Draco picked up his butterbeer and took a drink. As he set it back down, he felt his back trouser pocket vibrate. He had spaced that he brought the parchment with him.
HG: Ginny just told me that Harry, Ron, Neville, and Seamus are going to Hogsmead with some other eighth year boys. Please just ignore them.
HG: Draco? Did you get my message?
HG: I really hope you’re not causing trouble.
“Ooohhh…what’s this?” Theo asked, grabbing the parchment.
“Oooh. Love notes to Granger?” Blaise asked looking at it.
“It’s not love notes,” Draco said as he tried to get the parchment back. “She’s just warning me about Weasel. She wants me to steer clear of him and he’s in Hogsmead.”
“Theo do you have a quill? I left mine at the castle,” said Blaise.
“No. I left mine at the castle, too.” Theo replied.
“Fine. Hold onto it,” Draco huffed. “It’s not like you can write back.” Draco took another drink and stood up. “I’m going to the loo.”
He should have known, by the looks on their faces, that they were planning something, but the alcohol he had consumed made him brush it off.
He meandered his way through the Three Broomsticks to the loo, his mind drifting back to the brunette up at the castle. She didn’t regret giving him a chance. He was going to make sure that he did nothing to mess it up.
Once he was done he made his way back to the table, but as he got closer, he noticed Blaise and Theo hunched over the parchment, snickering. “What are you guys doing now?”
“Nothing.” Theo said pulling the parchment into his lap. Blaise was trying to hide the ink.
“What did you two do?” Dread washed over Draco.
“Nothing.” Theo insisted.
“Just told her that you were keeping your nose clean,” added Blaise.
“As me or as you?”
They both looked at each other. “You” they said.
“You have got to be kidding me! You guys do know that this is my only chance with her right? What did you say?”
“Just that you were keeping your nose clean.” Blaise said. “And maybe some other stuff.”
“Accio parchment,” Draco said angily. Upon opening it, he found it blank. He tapped it and still nothing.
“You do realize,” Theo stated, “that I am the one who taught you that. So naturally, I would wipe it clean when you got back.”
“I cannot believe you two.” Draco took out his self inking quill.
DM: Please tell me you saved everything that was written a few minutes ago.
HG: Yep.
DM: How bad was it?
HG: We will discuss it later. I’m talking with Ginny and Pansy.
DM: Everything that was said was Blaise and Theo.
HG: Sure it was.
DM: Please believe me.
DM: Hermione?
“Great! Now she’s not talking to me. I hope you two are happy.”
D_elliot: Me too!!! I figured that it would be better for Hermione to show Ron because she knew that would be the only way he would actaully see the truth.
LOL. Most people do. He's not going away but he's taking a time out from the story so to say. He will come back though and will learn to be happy for her. There is still a lot of the story left :) I do hope I won't disappoint you.
LadyShire: Thanks! That makes me happy. I hope I won't disappoint you.
