He stood on the tarmac of the spaceport, waiting for the military shuttle from Caprica to arrive, his hand linked tightly behind his back, auburn hair windblown, a few strands blowing into his eyes. As he waited impatiently, he found himself wondering who this Lieutenant was that they were sending here to replace Kale, and why, over Captain Fili, or Lt.'s Logan, Kili, and Tristyn, he had been given the command of the Riddle smuggling, drug and human trafficking case.
His hazel eyes narrowed as the shuttle finally taxied into view. 'Well, finally," he thought to himself, 'better late then not at all.' It would be a few microns {seconds} before the door finally slid open and a young man...He blinked, but nothing had changed. He wa definitely a very young man, as he looked to be no older than seventeen, or eighteen.
'He certainly souldn't be much older,' he thought in disbelief, watching as a second young man no more than a couple of yahren {year} older stepped out after the first, followed immediately by a third man, who at least looked old enough to be a Warrior in the Colonial Armed Services. He was also a Counter-Intelligence Officer by the looks of the uniform he was wearing.
'Well, FUCK!'
While their looking young had shocked him, it was the uniform they were both in that shocked him even more. They, like the third man, were in the black flight shirts, black pants, and scarlet leather jackets of the Colonial Counter-Intelligence Unit. He shook his head, thinking that this just couldn't be right. These two COULDN'T be Counter-Intelligence. They weren't even old enough to be warriors...to have survived the first semester, or the intensive two yahren {year} Viper training program. Then there were all the OTHER classes they would have been required to take, both military ang magical...if, that is, they even HAD the gift of magic, which most did not. Only about thirty percent of applicants did. In total, you had to go though an intensive four yahren {year} military and magical training program at the Academy on Caprica.
Magic. It had become a very rare gift, becoming even rarer with every generation that passed. Those born with the gift of magic often began to show signs of it around three or four. There were nine types of magic, and of course there was always heated debates as to which type was the most powerful, the hardest to control, and the most deadly.
Fire. Lightning. Ice/Water. Air. Earth. Shadow. Light. Dark. Black, or blood magic. As soon as you showed signs to any of the nine, they sent you to the only school for magic that there was. A school known as Hogwarts School of Magical Training, where they would begin to teach you the basics of how to control your magic. They also taught you what spells were possible with your magical affinity.
Most attended Hogwarts until they were eighteen, some...if you were powerful enough and chose a more specialized study of training, could train to become an even rarer Mage. Staying at Hogwarts until that lever had been granted to them by the only known magical Mage there was. The current Headmaster of Hogwarts, Mage Albus Dumbledore. Not many had the power to become a mage, let alone the resolution and the determination it took to complete the study and training.
Well, whoever these two young men were, they apparently HAD made it through those four rigorous yahrens {year}, as well as passed all the other required military courses. Admiral Roark, he knew from bitter experience, did not take just anyone into the unit that he, his youngest brother, Commander Thorin, and his two eldest sons, Lt. Commander Dacian, and Lt. Colonel Gabriel, had built from the ground up.
Slowly, he allowed his eyes to moved over the first young man, thinking that the boy certainly looked handsome, his uniform fitting him very well. Even from this distance, he could tell that his body was lithe, lean, standing about five eight, maybe five nine, and weighed about one eighty. His hair was a midnight black, long as the ends curled against his neck and the collar of his scarlet jacket. His face was angular, almost autocratic looking, and his lips looked to be very kissable.
'Wait! What the FUCK! Where the hell had that thought come from?' he asked of himself. He began to mutter a few choice words to himself, but then the young man turned to look directly at him, and as soon as he did...
His eyes.
His eyes were a rare silver color.' Ardyn felt an intense reaction within himself as a smile slowly curved those lips. Oh...damn...this kid was absolutely gorgeous. Then there was the second young man, who turned just then to look toward him as well, speaking to the first, who nodded. This second young man was just as stunning handsome, standing nearly five ten or eleven, his body just as lithe and lean, and also weighing in near one eighty or so. He too had midnight hair, but his eyes...His eyes were a dark, stunning emerald green.
Those eyes.
He had seen those eyes before, only it wasn't on a man, but a woman. Lily Adama-Peverell Potter. She had been the eldest daughter of Commander Jacob Adama, and the wife of Commander James Peverell Potter. James and Lily had been dead now for close to sixteen yahren {year}, having been murdered while on vacation on Aquaria by Tom Riddle.
Riddle had also attempted to kill the boys, but somehow they had managed to survive the injuries inflicted on them. Whether it had been because of their inborn magic, or their doctors and healers was still up for debate to this day as no one had any idea how either of the boys had survived. It could, it was reasoned by a few, been both factors. Especially if their magic was as strong then, as he had heard it was rumored to be now.
He watched them come down the stairs of the shuttle, beginning to cross the tarmac toward him. "Captain Ardyn?" he was asked as soon as they reached him.
