Harry is counting down the seconds until 8pm, journal in hand open with a quill ready. He was sitting on his bed, but he had already charmed the book to look different, like any other schoolbook, no one would take away his potions book, right? Harry smiled.
These came a bit earlier than expected

Severus frowns when he opens the book at there is nothing there and then a message begins to write across the page. Ah a two-way journal.
Well these must have been expensive, but they will make communication a lot easier.

They were hard to find yes, but with your teaching schedule and my recurrency training schedule, I thought it would be better than owls.
JL
You're probably right this way we can speak more than just a letter in the morning and one at night. How was your day?
SS
Very long. I got these journals while I was at work. The rest of the day dragged on because I was elated to send yours to you.
JL
Severus chuckles to himself
Well, mine was long as well but for different reasons. I'm glad you thought of this.

I am too. It will be nice to talk to you when I have a few moments during the day. What years did you have today?
JL
Sixth years first, second huffs/ ravens and fourth same and fifth Griff/Sly. And agreed we both seem to lead fairly busy lives.

I never did ask you about age. Are you ok with a bit of an age difference? I'm a bit younger than you.
JL
As long as you're above the age of consent, no. I don't want to go to prison however but no I don't think it matters. Age is not necessarily an indication of maturity and its maturity that matters to me.
SS.
Harry laughed. Oh, if that man knew he just called Potter mature... In the wizarding world, 16 was the age of consent, and well, he had turned 16 a few months ago.
I'm glad to hear then we have no issue with age then.

No. I'm not biased on that matter, not that it's ever really been an issue before. I still don't quite understand why you wish to court me.

After all this time?

Yes, I don't find much in myself that's lovable, so I'm not sure how you do, I don't disbelieve you do, I've gotten passed that.

I find you extremely loveable, as I have from the beginning. There are so many things about you that you don't see in the mirror. Your jawline is one to be jealous of, your eyes speak volumes. I wish you could see yourself like I do.

Severus frowns and simply writes

Severus flushes and returns.
I don't think I expected to say this, but I hope so.

Harry heart about beat out of his chest with longing.
Well get used to it Love. You will see your beauty one day. Both on the inside and the outside. Your inside is what I treasure above everything else because you have given me a level of trust which I'm sure was very hard.

Severus snorts to himself.
You have no idea but yes, I find I do trust you more than I trust most people.
SS.
These are the evenings I wish we could spend together. Just together.

Well perhaps eventually, after your willing to tell me who you are.

I want nothing more than to tell you who I am and wrap my arms around you. I'm afraid that you wouldn't accept me.
JL
Why do you think that, I've accepted you this far haven't I, you'll have to eventually, but I won't push?
SS.
I will one day when I know you won't turn me away. Then and only then. I'm sorry.
JL
And how will you know that day has come?
SS
I'm honestly not sure. My life and yours is complicated as we have both accepted. Trust me when I say, right now, even after all of our talks, everything. If I showed up at your door, I'm sure you would slam it in my face.
JL
Severus frowns
I'm not sure why you think so, but I'll accept your feelings on the matter. Just don't make me wait forever.

I would never do that love. It's getting late and we both have work. Talk in the morning?
JL
Yes, we should both get some sleep, I'll be here, tomorrow the first period I have free.

With the journals they really began to know each other better. Harry found time between classes to say hello, if someone in class messed up, he would tell him about a coworker's antics. December came around fast and Harry knew that the man was getting impatient about his identity. Harry and Hermione talked about it. He would meet him. They had a Hogsmeade weekend coming up and he would invite him to lunch. With clear stipulations and Hemione's help with charms and spells.
