Chapter 56 Argus Gets a Surprise
As if knowing by some sixth sense that Severus and Nina had returned, Minerva and Poppy converged on the couple within five minutes of their arrival. Both women were arguing about wedding gowns for the bride.
Poppy was adamant that her choice was the better one and Minerva just as resolute about her preference.
Poppy’s was a more up to date version, knee length and sleeveless with a short train and a low neckline. Minerva’s was the more traditional style, floor length with a wide billowing skirt, high neck and long flowing sleeves.
Nina settled the problem by merging the two gowns on the photos. The result was a long close fitting gown that fell to the floor in soft folds, a small bustle at the back. The train fastened to the shoulders of the gown with small pearl encrusted clasps to fall gracefully down to the ground. The neckline was still low but not as low as Poppy had originally chosen and the gown had three quarter sleeves with tiny pearl buttons to match the pearls that ran around the hem.
The two women stared at it amazed for a moment before gushing at how beautiful it was and how each knew they had got the right idea in the first place. Then Minerva turned to Nina.
“Who are you going to have give you away dear? We thought perhaps Arthur Weasley or Remus Lupin, but of course it is up to you.”
Nina gave them a blank look. “Give me away. I don’t understand.”
Severus stepped in before the two women could begin hassling Nina any further.
“Please leave it with us to think over for a while. While your suggestions are admirable, we have only minutes ago returned from our holiday and as yet we have not even unpacked our luggage. As soon as Nina has made her decision I shall personally make sure you are informed immediately.”
Minerva huffed and Poppy tried to appear mollified but they left the couple alone. As soon as they left Nina turned to Severus to ask what they had meant. When he explained to her about it being tradition for the father of the bride to hand his daughter to her intended during the ceremony, Nina didn’t take long to come to a decision.
Remus or Arthur were both good choices but somehow she had the feeling that she would get the same reaction from them as she’d gotten from Hermione and Ginny when she asked them to be bridesmaids for her.
“I know who I want to give me away. There is only one person who could possibly fit the bill.” She told him resolutely.
“Oh? And who might that be?”
“The one person who has acted like a father to me since I came here Severus.”
“What Albus? But he will be performing the ceremony.”
“No, not Albus. Though he has been wonderful to me. No there is someone else Severus. Argus.”
“Argus Filch. The caretaker. Are you serious?”
“Of course I’m serious.” She shot at him angrily. “He’s listened to me when no one else would, he’s been there when no one else was. I want Argus and if he wont do it then I’ll just have to give myself away. So there.”
She stood with her arms folded and a determined look on her face.
Severus knew that look, the stance she had taken. It was one he adopted himself on numerous occasions.
“Very well if he is your choice, then I am behind you one hundred percent.”
She flung her arms around his neck, gave him a big hug and went in search of Argus. Now she had decided she wanted to ask him straight away.
Argus was overwhelmed at the request and openly allowed the tears to fall down his cheeks when she told him he was as close to a father as she had ever known, not counting her father’s portrait of course.
“I would be honoured to stand in as acting father of the bride.” He told her. “Though I must admit it will be difficult to give you away willingly.”
“Thank you Argus. This means so much to me.”
When Nina returned to tell Severus that Argus agreed she left behind a tearful but extremely proud caretaker. At first Poppy and Minerva were not too happy about Nina’s choice. But when Severus backed her up and told them it was her decision after all, and that Argus had acted much as a substitute farther to her many times, they had no choice but to agree.
Then the question arose as to who would be Severus’ best man. The Potions Master had no idea. His first choice would of course have been Albus. But once again that was not possible. In other circumstances he would probably have been Lucius Malfoy. Though at the moment he was not high on Severus’ list. That left … no one.
“What about Draco?” Nina asked him. “He thinks the world of you and I’m sure he would agree to do it.”
Severus pondered for a while. It was true, the boy always looked up to him. He was also growing to be an admirable young man. He did not wish to take the mark of Voldemort and he was not too much like his father, bearing the promise of being a fine addition to the wizarding community. “You may be right.” He told her. “Perhaps you could casually mention it to him when you visit next week.”
When Nina originally told Severus about Draco’s invitation he was not happy about the idea. However he trusted his future wife implicitly and agreed to let her spend a few days at Malfoy Mansion. Giving himself a chance to catch up with some experimental potion making and preparing next term’s lessons. He also knew that she could quite easily handle Lucius and Narcissa should the need arise. An annoyed Nina was a force to be reckoned with.
So it was the following week that Draco apperated to Hogwarts to collect her. Before she left Nina had a surprise for Severus. Leading him through to her rooms she dragged him into her bedroom and opened a door to what he had previously assumed was a second closet.
What she showed him bowled him over. There, growing before his eyes was a cluster of Stony Cors. She had recreated their environment and they were flourishing in a multitude of blue/green, purple and gold.
He was speechless. “Enjoy them Severus. They are of no use for me and will continue to grow as long as you leave at least one flower in place. I have arranged it so they follow a one week cycle so if you pick all but one today, there will be a fresh batch of flowers ready for you this time next week. I love you.”
She gave the gobsmacked Professor a kiss and went to join Draco at the main entrance with a big smile on her face. His silent reaction to her surprise had spoke multitudes to her.
“Ready Draco?” She asked the smiling young man waiting for her.
“When you are.” He offered his arm ready to walk her to the gates so they could apparate. But Nina just grinned wider and they appeared in the main entrance to his own home.
“Bugger. I keep forgetting you can do that.” He told her with a wide grin.
“Oh I can do much more then that Draco. We’re gonna have some fun these next few days if it kills me.”
Draco showed her to her room, watching her face as she looked around. The room was beautiful. All greens and silvers as was typical in a predominantly Slytherin household. But Nina didn’t know that.
“Well, do you like it?” He wanted to know.
Nina had her back to him. “It’s a bit poncy but it’ll do.” She told him before turning round with a wide grin to see his shocked face. But Draco soon realised she was getting a rise from him and laughed along with her.
“Bitch.”
“Ponce.” She replied as they made their way along the corridors so he could show her around the mansion. Draco explained that the family portraits could be rather rude to someone who was not pureblood and apologised in advance.
“I don’t think it’ll be a problem Draco, honest.”
He was sceptical at first but when one by one even the oldest family portraits greeted her warmly Draco was amazed. “Are you a pureblood then? I did not know.”
“Does it really matter Draco what my background is?” Nina asked him sadly.
“No. At least not to me it doesn’t. I am just surprised I suppose.”
“Yet you are still a friend to me. Even when you thought I was a … what do you call them … Mudblood.”
Draco felt his cheeks flame at her words.
“It’s alright Draco. I know what you thought of me the first time you laid eyes on me. But you have changed since then. Or maybe you haven’t. Maybe you were always a good person and just didn’t realise it. The fact is you are a friend and that’s all that matters to me.”
“You’re something else, do you know that?” He told her.
“No I’m not. I’m just me. Come on. Let’s finish looking ‘round this monstrosity you call home.”
After spluttering for a moment at her words he chased her up one corridor after another as they laughed and explored rooms that Draco had never even seen before now. They were just coming down the main stairway when a voice Nina detested travelled toward them.
“Ah Draco. You did not tell your mother and I that you would be having guests. Miss Manohel. What a pleasant surprise?”
Nina looked at Lucius Malfoy. She would have liked to hex his balls off and ram them down his throat, but he was Draco’s dad and she was in his house so forced herself to be polite.
“Mr Malfoy. It’s nice to meet you again. I believe it was at Gringotts the last time we met.”
The senior Malfoy paled slightly at this reminder of their last meeting. He had tried his utmost to show the Potions Master up but this girl had put him, Lucius Malfoy in his place easily. “Yes it has been a while. Still, my wife and I shall look forward to seeing you at dinner this evening.” He spun on his heel to leave and stopped, turning back to his son.
“Oh and Draco. Do make sure that your guest understands that we have a dress code when we dine here.” With those words Lucius walked away and entered his library, slamming the door behind him. He was seething. One; his son had not warned him that the little chit was coming here. Two; every encounter he had with the girl, woman, whatever she was, she made him look like a bloody fool. Three; he suffered terribly at the mercy of the Dark Lord because of her actions. Four; he discovered that Severus had been correct about her being the richest person in the wizarding world. So rich that she made the Malfoy’s look as poor as paupers. Five; her ancestry would appear to be one that went back further then any in existence anywhere.
These last two galled Lucius more then anything else. Until her arrival the Malfoy’s had been the richest, most influential family in all of wizarding Britain, and somewhat beyond. It also looked as though she had the Dark Lord second guessing himself. That put Lucius in a very awkward position. He wanted to be on the winning side regardless of who it was. Voldemort was the all powerful wizard, yet against this Nina, the Dark Lord was helpless, useless. She could control him with a look.
Draco was to take the mark in two days, along with several others. He wondered if she would still be here at that time. The Malfoy dungeons were prepared, ready for the Master’s arrival and ensuing ceremonies.
He would discover their plans at dinner this evening. Draco did not know as yet that the date was set for his initiation and Lucius did not want the girl messing things up. But there again, if this girl was truly going to defeat the Dark Lord, maybe he should be more amenable to her. Lucius Malfoy was for the first time in his life, questioning where his own loyalties lay, other than to himself that is.
“I am sorry about my father.” Draco told her.
“What on earth for? Draco, he’s your dad. Whatever he says or does that’ll never change. I’ll be honest and tell you I don’t like him much. But I like you enough to make up for it so stop apologising for something that’s not your fault. I’ve done enough of that myself. It doesn’t make any difference. Severus has taught me that.” Nina gave him a friendly hug and they went on to explore the ground floor.
“Talking of Severus.” Nina mentioned to him casually. “He wants you to stand as best man for him at our wedding. Would you Draco? Please. It would mean so much to him. And me too.”
He looked at her stunned for a moment. “He wants me to be his best man? But why?”
“Because he trusts you. Because he likes you. Because you’ve been kind to me and because he considers you a friend. Is that enough?”
“Wow. I’ve always looked up to Professor Snape but I did not think he truly liked me. But if what you say is true, then yes, I would be honoured.”
“Well of course it’s true you great nit. I wouldn’t say it otherwise. What time’s dinner anyway? I’m starving.”
Draco had to laugh then. “Only you could ask something so momentous and combine it with the urge to fill your belly. Come on.”
He dragged her off to the kitchen. “Dinner is not for a few hours and I know you will do nothing but complain if you’re kept hungry that long. When your belly grumbles it is almost as loud as the Hogwarts Express.”
“WHAT? You rotten rat.” She squealed at him as she chased him all the way to the kitchen. When they barged through the doors laughing and yelling at each other the poor house elves did not know how to react.
They had never seen their young master act this way before. Though not cruel to them as his father was he was certainly not one to be running about the ancestral home shouting and laughing like a normal person would.
Then they noticed Nina. All house elves had their own communication system so they knew of the arrival at Hogwarts of the Assimilator. But to have her here, in their place of employment was a complete surprise to them. The elves scuttled around her, much as the elves at Hogwarts had done, all wanting to touch her and serve her. Nothing was too much trouble. Even to the exclusion of their own Master, Lord Malfoy.
Draco found it hilarious after his initial surprise wore off.
“Do all elves act like this with you? And what’s this assimilator stuff?”
Nina went pale. “Lets get something to eat and I’ll try and explain. But not in here.”
Draco nodded and as he gave the elves instructions to bring a light lunch up to his rooms. Nina mind spoke to Severus.
‘The elves went a bit daft and now Draco wants to know about me being the Assimilator. What should I do Severus?’
‘Do you feel you can trust him?’
‘Yes. Should I tell him?’
‘If you wish. I trust you with my life little bird. So I feel I can trust you to make this decision for yourself.’
‘Thank you Severus. I think I’ll tell him. I’m gonna have to say something so it might as well be the truth. I just wanted to okay it with you first.’
‘And for that I am grateful. Now go tell your story and have a nice time. Though not too nice. I do hope that you are missing me.’
‘You know I am. I’ll talk to you again later. At bedtime.’
“Bloody Hell that’s mind-blowing.” Draco told her when she finished her story along with her sandwiches.
“So you have to … you know, kill the Dark Lord then?”
“I don’t know if I can kill anyone Draco. But I intend to stop him yes.”
“But how? I mean, how are you gonna stop him?” He leaned forward to whisper. “He’s a bloody lunatic Nina. I know you have bested him before but honest. He’s dangerous.”
“So am I Draco.” Nina told him, her face serious now.
“Yes but he knows things Nina. Spells that no one else knows. And he changes then to suit his purpose. No one ever knows what he is going to do next.”
“Draco I asked you once to trust me and you said you would. Do you still trust me?”
“You would not be here with me now if I did not.”
Nina moved to sit next to him on the bed, took his hand and held it to the side of her head. When Draco saw Voldemort, in the bath of all places. And he could hear his thoughts as well as the terrible raspy noise coming from the Dark Lord’s mouth, which as it happened turned out to be singing, Draco fell off the bed. The connection broke and he looked at her in awe.
“Hex me Draco.”
“What?” His voice was high pitched with shock.
“I said hex me. Curse me. Anything you like.” Nina waved her hand. “Even Avada if you like. It can’t be traced.”
“Sod off.” He told her getting up and brushing his clothes down.
“Just do it Draco. You said you trusted me so do it.”
“This is bloody barmy.” He pointed his wand at her and sent a tickling charm. Nothing happened.
“Is that the best you can do? Come on Draco. I know you have more than that in you.”
Draco tried a leg locker curse, then a Petrificus Totalus, still nothing happened.
He shouted Serpensortia, just as he did when he duelled Harry in their second year.
Nina smiled and spoke to the snake in Parceltongue. Then when Draco moved to dispel the snake Nina became one herself, causing him to jump onto the bed in fright.
Nina snake was ten times bigger then the one he conjured and she was heading towards him.
He sent curse after curse at it with no affect until it wrapped itself around him and was Nina again. Draco was white as a sheet and trembling badly as Nina dragged him down off the bed.
“It’s alright Draco. I would never hurt you. I just wanted to show you that your curses don’t have any affect on me. But you wouldn’t do much when I was me. I’m sorry I scared you. Now will you try?”
“You’re sure I won’t … you know, kill you or something?”
“Dammit Draco just bloody Avada me will you? If Scaly can’t do it I’m sure you can’t.”
Draco’s jaw almost hit him in the knees before he snapped it shut and narrowed his eyes. ‘Please don’t let her die.’ He thought. “Avada Kedavra.” He shouted.
Green light burst forth from his wand at point blank range hitting Nina squarely in the chest. As he watched absolutely terrified at what he had done, Nina simply absorbed the spell.
“Fuck.” He whispered.
But Nina wasn’t going to give him a chance to rest up yet. “Right, now attack me. Physically I mean.
“Eh?”
“Aw c’mon Draco. You’re not thick. Attack me.”
“Bloody hell.” He muttered as he got back up from the floor where he had fallen to his knees when Nina had been Avada’d.
“Do I have to?”
“Yes. You asked what was going on. Well I’m showing you some of it. Now come on. Who do you hate most in the world?”
“What?”
“Hmm. Maybe your thicker then I thought Draco. What. What. What. That’s all you keep saying. Who do you hate?”
He looked a bit put out now. “I am not thick and it’s Uncle Rabastian.”
“Rabastian Lestrange?”
“Yeah why?”
Nina became Rabastian. “Now attack me.” Said the voice of the Uncle he hated most in the world.
Draco launched himself at her but went sprawling onto the floor. She was at the other side of the room.
“Come on little Draco. Let’s see what you can do.”
Draco launched himself at her again and this time she caught him, swung him up in the air and pinned him to the ceiling before walking over to the bed, sitting down and becoming Nina again. She snapped her fingers and Draco floated down to land on his feet.
“If this is how you treat your friends I do not want to be your enemy.”
“Good. Now do you see what I’m getting at? He can’t hurt me Draco. Him or his cronies. And I will stop him.”
“I believe you. Can you do more stuff?”
“Lots but I’m not gonna. I’m probably already in trouble for showing you Scaly. I’m not supposed to look unless Severus or Albus tell me to.”
“Albus. You call the Headmaster by his first name? Anyway I won’t tell on you.”
“I only call him that in private. And you don’t need to tell on me. Severus always knows when I’ve looked so I‘ll cop to it when I get back.”
“Oh shit I’m sorry Nina.”
“Don’t be. I didn’t have to do it. Is it dinnertime yet?”
“Another hour. Come on, I’ll see you to your room and you can have a bath and get ready. Oh and Nina.” She looked at him questioningly.
“Where whatever you like. You’ll still look great.“ He shot her a grin before leaving.
Even Draco did not know but Lucius Malfoy saw everything that happened in his son’s room. Behind a secret panel in his library, Lucius had a large mirror that showed him every room in the house.
When Draco and Nina ran up the stairs he assumed his son was going to give the girl a good reaming. Lucius was not adverse to a bit of voyeurism so tuned in, so to speak, sat in his favourite chair and prepared to watch.
What he saw and heard turned his stomach and he almost froze to the chair in shock at what she was able to do. Even with what he had seen at Halloween he was not prepared for this. Nor was he prepared for who she really was, this changed things, a lot.
Lucius changed his mirror so he could watch Nina undress and take her bath.
He knew she had a good figure, that much was evident the night she arrived in that red dress. Narcissa tried to refuse him in bed that night because of his reaction to the girl and he took her forcibly. He would not be refused by his own wife.
As Nina removed her clothing Lucius’ hand strayed to the growing bulge in his trousers, rubbing himself through the soft fabric that held his organ. When she bent over to pick up an item she dropped, she gave him a full view of what Severus had access to whenever he chose. His trousers became uncomfortably tight and he had to unfasten them and release his prick.
Nina climbed into the steaming tub and began to soap herself and Lucius gripped his prick firmly, his hand working its length as he watched her.
If he chose to he could have apperated directly into the tub with her but he knew she could do something very nasty to him if he did. So he settled for watching her wash her breasts and between her legs as he wanked himself silly, pretending it was her fingers, her hands, her tongue that were taking him to the orgasm he sought.
When she stood to rinse herself off with the overhead shower his balls tightened at the sight of her and he shot his load out and over the expensive carpet in front of him, panting as he continued to move his hand more slowly milking every last drop of his seed until he was spent.
