"Rory--"
"I know, Logan," he told him quietly. "Please, just trust us. However wrong this may seem to you...too ALL of you...Harry and I ...there's just...something, about the two of them."
"Hum..." Harry hummed his agreement. "What that something is, neither of us knows, we just know that it's there. Obscured...hidden."
Logan studied them both carefully, then nodded. "Alright then, when you figure it out though, do be sure to tell the rest of us."
"After us, you'll be the first to know."
"You said something about arresting him seemed wrong to you," Kili said, looking over at them as they began to walk. "Why? We know he's lying to us. Know he's giving Riddle information...information that could have come from only one place. He drugged you."
"Yes, he is, he has, and he did, but it took Rodolphus, a Terminator, and the man who has been hired to kill me to tell me that. We still need the truth, which we DON'T have. Tristyn said there were disks, Logan, and that you knew where they were."
Logan nodded. "He hid them in two separate locations. and as none of the guys would allow me to go alone, we stopped at both places on our way to your place. The disks were gone."
"Of course they were," he said, his tone resigned, "and I should hope not. It's too dangerous for any of us to go anywhere alone. Ki?" he turned his head. "Is there ANYTHING else you remember?"
"He really was being very careful about the whole thing, which neither of us could blame him for," he frowned suddenly, an odd look entering his eyes.
"I know that look, little brother," Fili said as he looked at him. "What did you just think of?"
"It's just...he said that we'd be surprised, maybe even shocked by some of the information. Logan had gone to refill our drinks. He said he had done far more than we could ever imagine."
"Well, THAT doesn't sound good," Harry said, his tone grim.
"No, it doesn't. I don't suppose he said anything to either of you about Rodolphus and Rabastan not being at all what they seemed."
"He did, but again, he wouldn't explain. Said something about it being safer for them, not us. It seemed to me he was protecting them for some reason, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why he would." Kili looked at the both of them and saw the look in silver and emerald eyes. "What is it? Is that why you trust them?"
"Partly, though there is more to it. He's never lied to me, number one. Number two, there are these feelings I have every time I see him. A feeling that there's so much more to him, more than he's certainly letting me...letting anyone see."
"It's the same with Rabastan," Harry said. "There is this very strong feeling that they're both hiding something. Something very important about themselves...that they're hiding...not letting us see their true selves if that makes any sense."
"It does," Alexei said slowly. "So, does that mean you think we won't know until this is over?"
"Yes, and I guess it now leaves me with no choice. I have an idea, but you Kili, nor you, Logan, are going to like it."
"Why." came warily, almost afraid that he already knew what the idea was, and if it WAS what he thought it was...then no, he definitely wasn't going to like it.
"Because it involves sending the two of you home, just as I told Ardyn I wanted to. Though not for the reasons I implied, not completely, anyway."
"What does sending them home have to do with anything?" Jordan asked, laying a hand on Logan's arm to keep him quiet. "Let him explain."
"Before Rodolphus left this morning," he began slowly, looking over at them, "he told me that he had no choice but to authorize two new hit requests that had come directly to Riddle."
"Hit requests?"
A nod. "The request came from an unknown source, but Riddle made it clear he wanted it approved. They were, he said, for Logan and Kili."
"Rabastan told me the same thing," Harry spoke up softly. "He also couldn't say from whom the request came, but Riddle made it clear he wanted it done."
"ARDYN!"
"Fili, calm down," Harry cautioned him, "but if he IS the leak as we believe he is, he's already killed one Durin. Why not make it three...or all of you if he can manage it?"
"And if he got away with it once, what's to stop him believing he can do it again? Only one very BIG problem." Roark looked at each of them. "I'm damned if I'm going to let it happen."
"You are not the only one."

He stepped out of the shadows he had created around himself as the brothers stepped back into the alleyway after Roark, Harry and the Durins had all moved out of sight, the smirks that had been on their faces melting away as soon as they saw the fury on the face...in every line of his body. He stalked toward them, and despite themselves, the brothers backed away a step...two.
"YOU TWO," he hissed at them furiously, his dark eyes flashing as his shadow magic enfolded all three of them, hiding them from curious eyes, muffling every sound, "HAVE COMPLETELY LOST YOUR FUCKING MINDS!" he went on. "I TOLD you not to risk yourselves! I fucking told you to back the HELL off! To wait until this was all over! BUT WHAT DO YOU MORONS DO INSTEAD?!! You completely do the opposite of what I ORDERED you to! Instead of fucking backing off, you fucking SLEPT with them! Had SEX with them!! Running the complete risk of exposing yourselves not just to them, but the DURIN'S!! Those boys are SMART! A hell of a lot smarter than anyone gives them credit for, baring the Durin's! Baring the select few who actually KNOW them!! They have the ability to figure out EXACTLY who, and WHAT you two are!
"The same goes for Tom Riddle! Riddle has not gotten this far, done as much as he has, gotten away with all that he has, without being smart!! He TOO can figure out you two are not what you seem to be! This case has been in the works for far too long, and the two of you have been in place here for nearly just as long, for you to go and BLOW IT ALL NOW!!! WHAT, may I ask, have you to say for yourselves?!"
