The Grindelwald Legacy
Chapter 58
Feeling sated, and slightly sore from Draco’s ministrations, Lucy did indeed run a bath for herself. She sighed blissfully as she sunk into the bubbles, feeling no guilt about what she and Draco had done, though she hoped he would not mention it to Blaize, wishing it was a certain, dark eyed, tall Professor that had been the recipient of her ardour. Draco had been good, if a little sadistic, but at the time she hadn’t minded, in fact she liked it, it added to the pleasure. Not that Draco was better than Blaize, just different, though both wizards seemed to be into the dominance thing. Lucy also hoped Pansy never found out about what happened, the two girls only had an uneasy association, the last thing Lucy needed was an all out cat fight with her.
Fortunately Draco had no intention of telling anyone about his little escapade with Lucy, except of course his father. He enjoyed it and wanted another go at her. That would not happen if he began spouting about his latest conquest. Pansy especially would not be pleased, even though she knew he played around when her back was turned. Nor did he wish to alienate Blaize, the boys were friends and had shared witches before, but the Grindelwald girl seemed to hold Blaize’s attention at the moment and he did not want to be the one responsible for breaking them up.
Severus noticed Lucy’s calmer demeanour at supper that evening and knew straight away she must have satisfied her urges since lunchtime. He thought over who had free periods that afternoon that would coincide with hers. When his eyes rested on Draco for a moment and noticed the vaguely smug expression on the boys face whenever he looked in Lucy’s direction, he had his answer. And he was not pleased.
“Miss Grindelwald, my office after supper.” He intoned quietly, pausing behind where she sat only long enough to give his instructions before making his way from the Great Hall.
Lucy started at the voice, not having noticed him making his way towards her.
“Oh, what’s that about?” Daphne wanted to know.
“I have no idea.” Lucy answered, puzzled, totally unaware she was acting any differently to what she normally did.
Lucy knocked on Snape’s office door and waited a good five minutes before he finally shouted for her to come in.
She entered, closed the door and walked up to his desk. “Sir?” She asked nervously, hoping this was not something to do with her gran.
“Sit.” He barked, indicating the chair in front of his desk.
Lucy did. “Sir is it gran, has something… “
“No. It is not about your grandmother.” He shouted, banging his hands on the desk and making her jump. “It is about you.”
“Me?” She squeaked. She wracked her brain, trying to think if she missed some homework, or was supposed to be somewhere and forgot. “What did I do? Sir I don’t know what I’ve done, but it wasn’t intentional.”
“It is what you did not do Miss Grindelwald. For the past couple of weeks I have watched you becoming more and more agitated as your… cravings, took control. I have waited patiently for you to seek my permission to allow you access to the annexe, instead I discover you have taken it upon yourself to find elsewhere to satisfy your carnal desires, and with someone other than your usual beau.”
Lucy stared at him agog. She tried to speak but her mouth wouldn’t work, it just hung open, shocked. Her face burned with humiliation. “I… I didn’t, I… “
“Do not lie to me Miss Grindelwald. How else do you explain the idiotic expressions both you and Mr Malfoy sported at the supper table? I am not stupid Miss Grindelwald, nor am I blind. Anyone with an ounce of logic could comprehend what has obviously taken place this afternoon. Is it not good enough that the staff as a whole, have consented to allow you to rut whenever you feel the need, or that we have allocated you a place where you may safely go so as not to risk discovery?” He got to his feet, incensed beyond belief as he stepped round his desk and stood facing her. “Tell me Miss Grindelwald, was it the common room again, or did you manage to find some other public avenue in which to slake your disgusting little habit?”
Lucy buried her face in her hands and burst into tears. She felt so ashamed. Mortified. Had she been so obvious? Did it show that much? Was she really disgusting?
“Well? I am waiting for an explanation.”
But Lucy couldn’t, all she could do was cry and shake her head. Unable to speak, even to think, she huddled into the chair as much as it would allow and simply cried.
Severus returned to his seat and waited out her tears. He refused to let her get away with what she did, but was wise enough to realise he would get nothing from her until she calmed down.
Eventually the cries became sobs, and the sobs became hitching breaths.
Severus slid a glass of water and a box of tissues across his desk. “Drink, then you can explain why you deemed it necessary to flout the guidelines set aside for you, instead of approaching me directly.”
After taking the glass in a shaky hand and sipping some water, Lucy took some tissues and blew her nose. She felt calm enough to speak, but still found it difficult to put words to her thoughts and emotions. She fixed her eyes to a small crack in one of the floorboard, wishing she could crawl into it. “I can’t.” She whispered.
“Can’t what? Tell me why, ask permission to use the annexe, explain why you felt the overwhelming need to engage Mr Malfoy in a public area? What?” He demanded.
“All… of that. I can’t ask you.”
“Do not be absurd. Of course you can ask me, it is what we agreed.”
“No, I can’t. Not you. I can’t ask you.” She said softly.
Severus was taken aback at her reply. “Miss Grindelwald look at me.”
“No.”
“I said look at me.”
“No. I can’t.”
“You can and will look at me.” He said, rising from his chair and moving to stand in front of her. He lifted her chin with one finger, but she closed her eyes, tingling at his touch even through her distress.
Severus too seemed to feel something and removed his finger.
“Either you look at me or we take this to the Headmasters office. It is your decision.” He said gruffly.
Still burning with embarrassment, Lucy opened her eyes, tears once again welling up.
“Do not start crying again. I asked you some very simple questions, now I expect answers. Why can you not ask me when you wish to use the annexe? And I want the truth.”
“Because… you… it’s you. Not you.”
He sighed impatiently. “You are not making any sense. “What is me, or not me? Do you mean you cannot ask me personally? “Would you find it easier to ask another member of staff?”
“Yes. Someone else, anyone else.” She told him.
“I see.” He sat on the edge of his desk, hardly daring to ask the next question, but he had to know. “And why is it so difficult to ask me? I am your head of house, I am fully aware of your needs, and whichever member of staff was to give you permission would be obliged to inform me of your request. So I need to know why you find it so difficult to request my permission personally.”
“Please Sir, don’t make me tell you. I can’t, it’s too… I can’t.”
“I’m afraid you must if this is to stay between the two of us. If I am to arrange for another member of staff to heed you requests, I must have a valid reason to give the Headmaster.”
Lucy again buried her face in her hands, only to have them slapped away by the Professor. “You will not hide your face young lady. You showed no shame whatsoever at the Halloween ball, you blatantly danced quite seductively in front of the whole school, openly kissed another female student without a second thought, and deemed it perfectly acceptable to practice intercourse in a place where you could be, and were discovered. So do not imagine for one second that I will accept this display of feigned discomfiture from you.”
Lucy stared despairingly at his chest. “It’s not pretend, it’s because it’s you. You make… I feel… see you… “ As hard as she tried, Lucy could not formulate a coherent sentence.
Severus was beginning to feel slightly on edge, his own emotions conflicting. He openly demanded she tell him her reasons for not approaching him about the annexe, while his inner self wanted nothing more than to have her to say it was because he was the one she really wanted. That she could not seek his permission to engage one wizard, when it was him she wished to engage. Even though he knew that would never happen, that it was his own depraved mind that caused him to desire her when she would never look twice at someone such as him. He was her Professor, her mentor, so much older than her, unattractive, perverted for even wanting her to desire him. It did not matter that her grandmother and Albus had actually suggested he… Severus blinked and forced the errant thoughts from his mind, once more studying the girl, no, young woman in front of him. His voice softened. “Very well, I will inform the Headmaster you are unable, or unwilling to see me to make requests for the use of the annexe. Most likely he will arrange for a female member of staff to take your request, and I will be informed accordingly. You may go Miss Grindelwald.”
More than a little relieved, Lucy stood and walked to the door. Placing a hand on the knob she stopped. Still with her back to him she took a deep breath and spoke softly. “I can’t ask you, not when you’re the one I want.”
Severus barely caught her words, and stared at the closing door stunned.
Lucy made her way to the common room, looking at no one when she entered and headed straight for her room. Climbing on the bed and closing the curtains, she wondered if she actually said those words, or whether she just wished she had the courage to do so. Either way she knew they were true.
The sound of the door opening made her wish her bed was impenetrable, so when Daphne and Tracy both attempted to poke their heads in and garner her attention, they found the drapes refused to move. They shouted to Lucy, but she didn’t hear them, any more than they could hear her crying into her pillow.
