I do not own Harry Potter that is J.K. Rowling's honor. Making no money, just enjoying writing.
Phantom Moon
Sorry this is so short, everyone. It just didn\'t want to be longer.

Severus carefully glided into the nearest wall. Not knowing if wards had been set up to keep out ghosts or not he wasn’t taking any chances of being flung into the hereafter without warning. Fortunately, there was nothing of the sort. Other spells to keep out living beings was another matter entirely. Most of it was very old wards, designed to keep away those who might thwart the very illegal activities the place had been infamous for many centuries ago.
He slid easily through the walls and corridors of the place. He wondered vaguely if anyone had actually been staying here. Some of the rooms were bright and well cleaned while others had layers of dust on them that surely dated back eons. It was odd that in a place this old he’d not run into any other ghosts. That misguided notion was remedied when he rounded a corner and came face to face with a rather interesting individual.
Though the other man was transparent there was still the presence of blue woad covering his face, neck, arms and what Severus could see of his legs. The other ghost studied him curiously for a moment before speaking.
“What’re ya supposed to be? A great bat?” he asked, tilting his head one way then the other with arms crossed over a massive chest.
Severus resisted the urge to stick his nose in the air at the observation. He ignored the question. “I’m searching for someone.”
“Oh? Who might the someone be?”
“A living man. Tall, long blond hair.”
“Don’t get many living here. Why ya lookin’ for him?”
“I believe that’s my business,” Severus said haughtily.
“Fine then. It’s my business whether or not I tell ya who’s in MY castle.”
“If he isn’t here, just tell me and I’ll be on my way.”
“Impatient cuss aintcha. One more time, why ya lookin’ for him?”
“He’s here, isn’t he,” Severus said, eyes narrowing.
The other ghost shrugged. “Never said he was. Never said he wasn’t either though.”
Severus let out a frustrated growl. “Is he here or not?”
“Depends on what ya want with him. If it means gettin’ the crazy one out of here sooner, I’ll tell ya. If not, ye can go blow in the wind.”
“He’s a friend,” Severus said grudgingly. He didn’t have time to be dealing with this if Lucius wasn’t here. “I’m trying to find him so his son and amour can save him.”
“Why didn’t ya say so in the first place then?” He motioned for Severus to follow him. “If it gets the crazy one out soon I’ll be glad to help.”
Now Severus was curious. “Why do you want him out?”
“Don’t like what the crazy one does. Sullyin’ up my castle with all tha’ craziness. One thing to kill a man as a soldier or even in cold blood. Tha’ I can accept as a proper kill. ‘Nother thing ta kill a lady an treat her body like it’s a stuck pig. Tha’s all.”
“Odd sort of morals but I can understand what you’re saying,” Severus said.
“Follow,” the other ghost said. He proceeded to lead Severus through twists and corridors, walls and floors until they came to the dungeon door. “Got ta be careful. The little beasties will warn the mad one we’re here if they see us.”
“I understand that well enough,” Severus said. He carefully put his face through the door and peered around the room for the house elves. They were talking with heads bent in the corner of the room and paying no attention what so ever to their “guest”. He quickly glanced around the room and spotted Lucius stretched out on what had once been a very vicious torture device. He looked the other man over carefully and was relieved to see he seemed none the worse for wear aside from seeming to be very put out. Hardly surprising all things considered.
He pulled his head back out and glanced at the other ghost. “Do you know how to break the wards so his family can get through to him?”
The ghost paused and thought about it for a moment. “Lots of wards here. Layers on layers of magick to keep other out from the days when the caves was used for interestin’ things. Might be best to use the caves ‘stead of tryin’ ta go through the wards. Be safer for livin’ folks anyway.”
“Still quite dangerous though,” Severus mused.
“Aye. But what’s life without risk?” the other ghost said. “Go find the family. I’ll keep an eye on yer friend an’ help much as I can. Mind ya tha’ ain’t much but anything’ll do in a pinch.”
“Indeed it will,” Severus said with a nod. “Thank you.”
The large ghost shrugged. “Name’s Angus. Go find his family. Never know when one set of madness’ll take over the other.”
Severus frowned at that, not quite understanding what had been meant. He knew time was short though and nodded to the other ghost before making his way to Malfoy Manor to inform Draco and his company of what he’d seen.
