Kindred Passion
CHAPTER 6
Leading her to a bench near the pond, he seated her. "We need to talk about things in our far past, and the more recent horror. I asked Sibeal this morning, and she said that we have to face the things that have injured us." He looked toward the water, "When I was young, I left my family because I didn't fit in. I ended up being a slave in a brothel. It was there I met my master, Ahmed. He sexually abused me for a long time before he made me as I am. Eventually I found my way to Prince Alim. He gave me a kind of family with the Seif al Nu'man, never reminding me of the humiliation of my past. When Sibeal called for representatives of Shaheen Clan's allies, the Prince selected Karim and me to come here." He turned to face Seanna, "If he found out what your brother did to me, he would require the allies to turn Severus over to him."
Seanna went to him, "Thank you for telling me of your past. It makes no difference to the way I feel about you, but it must have made what Severus did, that much harder to face." She stared at the water, "My mother died when I was four. Right after that, my father placed the spell freezing my voice on me, and sent me to the asylum for the insane. I had no way to defend myself. There wasn't a friendly face or a loving touch. About ten years ago, I escaped and found shelter with a Muggle family. They were so kind to me, teaching me how to live like them. The father even taught me to drive a car and helped me get my license. I thought I was safe, but about a year later, my father found me and sent me back. He died about five years ago and Severus started reinforcing the spell binding me. He has no understanding or compassion. I know he has no love for me. What I don't understand is how he could be like father. Father used to beat him until he was unconscious on the floor. How could he back such an evil man?"
Tariq answered, "Maybe he didn't know any other way to be? Dearest, what Severus and Fionn did to me was cruel, yes. But the thought that kept me sane was that of you and my child. They could do anything to me as long as my memories were joyful ones. The first time we made love and you accepting my ring. Seanna, tell me of those days, please. Let me help you, and you help me. "Hold me. Please," Seanna begged. Sig ong on the bench beside her, Tariq enfolded her in his arms. "Better, my love?" He asked. "Yes," she replied.
Continuing to stare at the pond, she began. "I was so happy that day. We had made love for the first time, and then you made a commitment to me. Having Harry there made it so very special. Later, Miles had taken me into the Clan, giving me a true family for the first time in years. When he asked your intentions, I never dreamed you wanted to stay. Everything seemed to finally fall into place for me. And when Mairead told me I was pregnant, it was like all of my dreams were coming true. When you disappeared, I tried to hope you'd come back, but as the hours passed, my hope died. For days I hung on to the thought that you would return. I couldn't sleep or eat."
I finally asked Albus to let me go somewhere that I could begin again. He brought me here with Achak to protect me and I began having nightmares about you. It was Achak that thought it might be you reaching out to me, and for me to try to contact you back. When I saw what had been done to you, it made me sick. And to find out my own brother was the one who tortured you, I wanted to die rather than face you. It hurts so much to know that all of this was done to you because of me."
Tariq hugged her even closer, "Seanna, my love, what was done, whether it was because of you or not, does notter.ter. What matters is that we survived it. Our child is growing inside of you, protected by our love, and that our trials have strengthened us. I would gladly go through it again"for you! Dear one, you have to let go of the pain and anger, and grow in our love. Love is where the light is strongest."
"I truly enjoy making love with you. But Seanna, Hasna, you are using sex to hide your fear and insecurity. You need to stop hiding and face what lies behind the fear. If you are afraid, tell me. I want you to feel secure, not just in our passion, but in everything we are. My love, last night, before everything blew up on us, I asked you to marry me. Tonight, in the light of the truth we have shared, I ask again. Seanna will you marry me? To be my partner throughout our lives, my friend and lover, and the mother of my child?"
Seanna responded, "Tariq, I have never before felt all that I feel for you. Yes, I am terrified of losing you, but in the light of truth, I will be your partner, your friend and love. To be there when things are good, and even more, when things go wrong. I want to spend my life by your side." She smiled sweetly, "Yes, I will marry you." There was a loud "Hooray' from the trees. "Damn nosy Loup-Garou," Tariq muttered. Seanna just laughed and called out, "Why don't you join us?" As Raissa and Trey came out of the trees, the Loup-Garou said, "We didn't want to interrupt." Tariq grinned, "Yeah. Tell me another story. Oh well, Seanna seems to like witnesses."
Getting down on one knee, he took her hand, placing a silver and amethyst ring on her finger. Looking into her eyes, he said, "I hope you like it. I designed it just for you, although Albus made it for me earlier." "Putting her arms around him, Seanna said, "Habib, I'll treasure it always," and gave him a kiss. The kiss told him that she was beginning to heal. It was a kiss that contained, not all the passion, but all the love in her heart.
"Sexy lady, that kiss comes very close to rivaling the first one you every gave me, as the most special." He looked at the Loup-Garou, "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to be alone with my fiancée." "Cant' do much in this cold," Trey growled. Seanna laughed, "Trey, there are more ways to be together than sex. We're going to explore some of them." After the Loup-Garou left, Tariq and Seanna sat there watching the water. Seanna decided to try something. Reaching out with her mind, she touched his. Feeling the touch, he opened his thoughts to her. As she wandered through his mind, she discovered that this way of being together was even more intimate than making love. It left no place to hide. Slowly she opened her thoughts to him, and felt a flash of thanksgiving for her trust in him. Leaning her head against his chest, they sat for a long time, exploring each other's minds.
Tariq felt her shiver and, speaking in her mind, he said, "Time to go back inside, you're getting cold." Their arms around each other, they returned to the cottage. Seanna inquired as they entered, "Tariq, are you hungry?" He answered, "No, my love. I had a drink earlier." Seanna asked, "Will you please come to bed and hold me?" Looking deep into her eyes, Tariq queried, "Is that really what you want?" She linked minds with him and let him read her answer. Turning out the lights, they went to bed. Later, as they lay with Seanna's head on his shoulder, she said, "You know, you were right. I was so afraid of losing you that I thought sex would keep you with me. Now I see that what keeps you here is our love. And our lovemaking is an expression of the joy we find in each other."
Tariq kissed her temple, "I love you with everything in me, but Seanna, please don't ask me again to do what we did this morning." He shuddered, "I felt like I was raping you. And I could have hurt the baby. I'd never forgive myself if you lost our child." She turned, putting her hand on his cheek, "Habib, why didn't you say anything. If I had known how you felt, we would have stopped. I never want to do anything that makes you feel bad. Besides, I know you could never rape anyone. You don't have that kind of rage inside."
Tariq stared at her, "Seanna, my love, don't underestimate me. IF someone ever hurt you, I'd tear the world apart to get them, and there wouldn't be enough left to feed a Loup-Garou when I catch them." Looking back, Seanna believed him. Just talking about it, lit a cold fire she could see so clearly.
For a long time, they lay there, just enjoying the companionship. Tariq smiled to himself, thinking how right Sibeal had been. Once the fears were faced, Seanna felt as if a load had been lifted off of her. They would still have to deal with flashbacks, but it would be simpler, with her feeling secure in his love.
He asked, "Seanna, why do you feel so close to Harry?" She replied, "Habib, Harry's life has been much like ours. He had to be with relatives that didn't want him, treating him abominably, and never caring how he felt about anything. Yet, for all of that, he is a caring and compassionate young man. But, I think that like you, he would tear someone apart if one of his loved one were hurt. Mmm, I'm getting sleepy. "nite, my love." He cuddled her, "Good night, Hasna."
For the next few days, the lovers strolled through the woods and along the water's edge, talking of their lives and their dreams, growing to love each other more.
At noon on the third day, the expected "pop' brought Albus and Harry to visit. "Well, my children, how are things with you?" As he looked at the contented faces, Dumbledore knew that they had begun to face the past as well as the present. "We're fine, Albus," Seanna replied. "This is a wonderful place to begin putting the pieces back together." Albus then asked, "Are you ready to come home yet?" Tariq spoke, "Before we decide that, we have something to say to Harry." Seanna continued, "You have become very special to us, and we want you to know that there will always be a place for you in our hearts and lives." Tariq went on, "So Harry, it was decided you should be the first to know. I have asked Seanna to marry me, and she said "yes'." Harry leapt to his feet, giving them both big hugs, "I'm so glad, you deserve to be happy." Tariq responded, "Harry, we meant what we said, with this addition. There will ALWAYS be a place for you in our home, wherever we may live." Harry had tears in his eyes, "Thank you." Seanna said softly, "No Harry, Thank YOU for caring so much."
Tariq looked at Albus, "As for coming back, please give us until the end of the week, ok?" Dumbledore appeared thoughtful, "Ok, the end of the week it is. I'll be here Saturday at noon." With that promise, he and Harry "popped' out of sight. "Habib, why the end of the week," Seanna asked. "I'm not ready to share you yet, my love, besides, four more days of walking, talking, and loving without an audience are going to fly by," Tariq smiled. "I can't help it if I'm greedy for your attention. Let's go for our walk."
Strolling beside the pond, their talk turned to Seanna and the baby. Putting his arm around her, Tariq asked, "Seanna, you haven't said anything about how you're feeling physically. I mean about the pregnancy." She cuddled against him, "I feel fine, but I'm finding changes I didn't think possible until later on. When we get back I'm going to talk to Mairead about it. It feels wonderful to know I have your baby growing inside of me. The idea fills me with such joy." Seanna reached up and kissed him, "Thank you, my love, for this wonderful gift." Tariq smiled back, "I think maybe it's an even trade for the very special gift that you best on on me"your innocence."
Continuing to wander, they watched the animals come down to drink, and listened to the birds as they settled for the night. "Seanna," Tariq asked, "Would you mind if I went hunting?" She laughed, "Do you have to ask? Go ahead." Tariq let out a howl, which was quickly answered. "Raissa is on her way. If you get tired or cold, go back to the cottage." As Raissa appeared, he said, "Hey there, I'm going hunting." The Loup-Garou grinned at him, "Be sure to let me know where you leave the leftovers, and I'll take care of your Lady." Tariq responded, "Agreed." Kissing Seanna one more time, he disappeared into the trees.
Watching Seanna closely, Raissa came up to her, "He'll be fine. Trey is out there to keep watch. Besides, Fionn has been sent back to the Clan, and your brother is under guard care of Moira. For what she did to him last fall, I don't think he'll try a damn thing." Seanna took a seat on the bench, "I know Raissa, but after last week, I have this feeling of fear every time he's out of my sight. The only reason I let him go is that I know this is something he needs to do and I have to give him the freedom even if it scares me." Raissa put her hand on Seanna's arm, uncertain if she would recoil from the touch. "Tariq is a strong man, and it will take a strong woman to stand beside him." Looking into her eyes, the Loup-Garou said, "You have that strength, and many will be the better for your partnership."
Seanna said thoughtfully, "Thank you Raissa. It means a lot that you feel comfortable with me." Raissa stared at her in shock, "I was just going to say the same thing. Humans are no more at ease with us than they are with Vampyres." Looking at Raissa, Seanna replied, "I don't judge by genetics, but by actions. For all that I am from the wizarding world, until now, my best friends have been Muggles. Is it so strange that I would add Loup-Garou, Vampyres, Airmed's Children and Werewolves to the list? I have been a prisoner most of my life and those who imprisoned me were my own kind. Why should I not think kindly of other beings than my own?" Raissa grinned, her fangs bared, "May I hug you?" Seanna nodded. As the Loup-Garou gave Seanna the hug, she said, "I think I would like you to be my friend. The only humans I have any real dealing with are the ones in close relation to Sibeal."
As they stared into the water, Seanna asked, "Raissa, do you have any children?" The Loup-Garou nodded, "Yes, I have one cub and I miss him very much. But this alliance is extremely important to my Clan." Seanna replied, "Thank you. I was wondering how it felt to be apart from your child. I fear I may have to send mine away if the danger here does not diminish." Raissa answered, "It is difficult, but knowing that the childer is safe makes it a little easier to cope with the loss." Seanna said wearily, "I'm feeling rather tired, can we go back to the cottage?" As they made their way back up the path, Seanna stumbled. Raissa caught her and supported her the rest of the way. Seating her on the sofa, Raissa bade her relax a little before attempting the stairs.
After a bit, Raissa aided Seanna in getting to the bedroom. "I'm going to soak in the tub, then take a nap. Make yourself at home." When Tariq returned, Raissa told him of Seanna's weakness and lethargy. "She's sleeping right now, but she should have something to eat when she wakes. And Tariq, she should be having short naps during the day to counteract the effects this pregnancy is having on her." He nodded, "Very well Raissa, thanks for the help and the information." She smiled, "Any time. If my friend Seanna needs anything, just howl." And she made her way out the door and into the trees.
Tariq closed and locked the door. Turning out the lights he made his way up to the bedroom. Checking, he found Seanna still asleep. Entering the bathroom he took a quick shower and put on clean clothes. At least when she woke up he wouldn't frighten her with the mess he had been. Smelling her bath oil, he smiled. She must have bathed before falling asleep. Returning to the bedroom, he settled next to her and took her in his arms before sleep also overtook him.
