Chapter 4

AN: This chapter is mostly following Kerr�laria.

The night at the Weasly�s house was anything but pleasant for Kerr�Laria. It seemed that the only daughter, Ginny, had taken it into her head to make it abundantly clear that Kerr was wanted there about as much as Fleur was. Even less perhaps because Ginny had an obvious crush on Harry and it seemed Harry�s friend Hermionie thought that Ginny should be the one to date Harry. Kerr was tempted to tell them that Harry had no feelings for her, but Kerr knew they wouldn�t believe that. He had after all spent quite a lot of time alone in her company, which made Kerr apparently some kind of hussy in the eyes of Hermionie and the Weasly females. In fact the only female who had shown Kerr kindness since she arrived had been Fleur.

Perhaps it was because they were both in the same position in the eyes of the Weasly family. Whether that was the reason or it was simply because she was a kind hearted young woman, which Kerr believed was the most likely option, Fleur had taken it into her mind to make sure at least one person other than Harry made her feel welcome in the house. Kerr liked the young half-veela quite a lot and had been delighted to be offered a place in the wedding. Of course being Harry�s friend and now Fleur�s made her even more of an outcast among the Weasly�s. The men had been nothing but kind, and in fact Fred and George had even played more than one joke on their sister and Hermionie after catching the younger girls harassing Kerr and Fleur. Kerr enjoyed the young twins company quite a lot, however the women never changed their opinion of her and her prescence in Harry�s life.

�Kerr.�

Kerr didn�t understand fully why they would so quickly dislike her. Mrs Weasly had been so very kind to her the first night. It was if after sleeping she came to believe that Kerr was some threat to her daughters right as the potential girlfriend in Harry�s life.

�Kerr!�

It was not in anyone�s control who Harry�s mate would be. Certainly she couldn�t change the outcome. So why would�it hit her then. While she and Harry knew the truth they shared, no one else here did. They couldn�t be given the knowledge to understand that Kerr couldn�t take Ginny�s place just as Ginny couldn�t take the place of the one who would be called to Harry�s side by the heat.

�KERR!�

Kerr jerked out of her thoughts to see Harry standing over her a worried look on his face. �Kerr, are you okay. You were just staring off into space and you didn�t seem to hear me.�

�I am sorry, wingsib. I was merely thinking.�

Harry sat down next to her and looked up at the sky. �They haven�t been very nice to you.� Harry looked away from the sky and at her, his eyes betrayed the worry he felt for her.

�It is alright, Harry. I understand why they treat me the way they do. It is not through any hate. All will be well, do not fret so, wingsib.�

Harry huffed and pulled some of the grass up out of the lawn. �Well, I don�t understand and I don�t think it is right!�

�Don�t worry, Harry.�

�I will if I want to!� Harry ripped a large chunk out of the ground, his nails elongating into talons. �They are my friends and you are my friend! They shouldn�t treat you this way!�

Kerr reached out, her hand gripping his arm. �Please calm down, Harry.�

Harry pulled his arm away, standing up in quick jerking motions. �I don�t want to calm down! I want to know why Hermionie and Ginny are acting like this!�

Kerr exhaled deeply. �You really do not see their reasons?�

�No, I don�t!�

�Harry, Ginny wishes for you to be her mate.�

Harry froze. He blinked several times, mouth gaping open and closed. �But�what? �

�Harry, Ginny wishes to be your mate and Hermionie wants Ginny to be with you as well. That is why they dislike me. They see me as a threat to Ginny�s place in your heart and your bed.�

Harry sighed, running his hands through his hair. �I don�t like Ginny like that.�

�I know that wingsib, they don�t.�

Harry turned away from Kerr and looked back towards the house where Ginny and Hermionie were sitting. �Everything has happened so fast lately, but I know that as much as they are you are also my friend. I don�t have anyone else to turn to about being what I am. I can�t tell them what I am. They wouldn�t understand and it would only put them in more danger.� Harry�s body trembled slightly. �I don�t want them to be in danger any more than they already are. But I don�t want to loose you. I can�t have them doing this to you. You don�t deserve it. It is not like you are my girlfriend, and neither is Ginny. She never has been and never will be.�

�No, I don�t suppose she ever will be your mate.�

Harry gave her a strange look over his shoulder before turning and heading towards the girls and the house.

I just don't understand girls. I have know Ginny for years and yeah I knew she liked me but that was years ago. She had a lot of boyfriends since then and never really looked at me like she did the first time I really met her. Harry Sighed and ran his hands through his already messy hair. I am going to have to talk to them. Let them know that they can't treat Kerr this way.

Hermionie and Ginny are smiling at me. That's not really all that strange. I mean we are friends, but.... Harry noticed the way their eyes flickered to where Kerr was sitting, head hanging and pulling at the grass. ...they have such angry eyes when looking at her.

"Harry, it's about time you came and joined us! It didn't look like you were going to spend any time with your friends!" Hermionie grabbed Harrys arm to her chest and pulled him down onto the grass next to Ginny and her.

"Hermionie!"

Ginny wrapped her arms around Harry, lodging his arm between breasts. "What is so interesting about her! She could be a death eater spy for all we know!"

Harry jerked his arm out of his friends grasp. "How can you say that! You don't even know her! You have no right to judge her and say things like that about Kerr!"

"How can you just accept her apperaring out of nowhere!" Hermionie and Ginny screamed. "She appeared out of nowhere Harry and right before your family was nearly killed by death eaters! It's all a little too coincidental, don't you think!"

"No I don't think! Apparently no one but you can! Yes I know she came out of nowhere, at least as far as you are concerened. But I know her, and I know where she came from and why she came to me. You don't! You have no right to judge her like this! You are acting no better than A Death Eater!"

Harry reeled back hand going to his suddenly stinging face. Hermionie was red-faced, eyes blazing hate at him, chest heaving. I can'y believe she just hit me...

Everything seemed to freeze as if the world was holding it's breath waiting for Harry's reaction. I just...why...why can't they just...understand... "Whether you like it or not, Kerr, is my friend. So please try to understand, that I care for her and I still care for the both of you. Her being a part of my life won't change that."

Harry stood up and slowly turned away from his friends.

notes: The next chapter should be up soon. Harry and the others will be heading for Hogworts and things might just begin to change in ways they never imagened. Please keep reading and letting me know what you think! So far everything is supposed to help set up the realtionships between characters, but now the plot will actually begin to come into play. Also, if you spot any errors please let me know. I have no beta reader unfortunatly and tend to miss things that someone with a fresh eyes might see. There is only one more chapter before voting is closed. I hope everyone who enjoys reading will vote so that the pairing the story will focus on will reflect what all of you want most. So far the Harry x Charlie pairing is in the lead with the Harry x Severus x Charlie pairing on it's tail (no pun intended).
