The entire House fell silent and Severus inwardly groaned, why couldn't the boy have been more discreet about knowing the werewolf? And it also made Severus wonder who Harry would chose, the coven or the werewolf.
Chesek's voice thundered, sounding nothing like the man that had sat and questioned Harry and Snape about their love life, "Do you know this vermin, Champion?" The other vampires looked on, their eyes bright with curiosity at the famous Harry Potter.
"Yes, I do, this is Remus Lupin, one of the few that stuck by me in my fight against the Dark Lord Voldemort." Those vampires that were also wizards still had the fear to shudder at the name, even though the slit-nosed creature was gone for good.
"It does not matter what he helped you do in the past. He is a lycan," the word was almost growled and Harry could see Chesek's fangs glinting against the candle light, "and he was found on our land. Most likely spying for that horrible creature, Fenrir Greyback." Even after the Dark Lord's defeat they had not been able to track the monstrous werewolf down.
Harry continued walking until he was standing on the dais, "Remus Lupin does not associate with the likes of Fenrir Greyback, and works hard at controlling his werewolf side." Harry did not want to go against his House, but he would fight any vampire that tried to harm Remus, even if it meant attacking Severus. Lupin was the only one of the original marauders left, one of Harry's closest friends, and he'd stood up for him when no one else would.
Chesek raised an eyebrow, his voice a dangerous growl, "You would defend a lycan? Turn against this great House of vampires which so kindly took you in?"
Now he was walking on dangerous ground and Harry knew it. He had to say something to appease the vampires, but at the same time, he had to keep defending Remus, "I would never turn against this House or the hospitality that you have all shown me. I do not defend this lycan, I defend my friend."
"I think we should kill the lycan and banish Potter too for tainting himself with the smell of a beast!" A voice rang out, and Harry recognized it as that of Lucien Vontae.
Chesek raised a hand, "I will decide if punishment is due." The Master of the House gazed down at Harry for a long moment before speaking, "Does anyone else share Champion Potter's opinion? That this lycan should be given safe passage from our House?"
For a long horrible moment there was nothing but silence and Harry touched his fingers to his wand, sure that he was going to have to fight his way out of the room, but then a voice spoke up, "I do." All heads turned to Snape, shocked to hear the man's voice. Snape was known for his hatred of werewolves, and to hear words of mercy coming from the former Death Eater was nothing short of unusual.
"Anyone else?" Chesek's voice echoed around the room. A few hands began to raise around the room, Harry recognized some of them as wizards, all who would have known Remus as a Member of the Order, and he recognized one pale hand as belonging to that of Draco Malfoy.
"Alchemist Snape, Champion Potter, I am making it your job to see the lycan safely off of our land, but if we ever find him on it again, there will be no mercy." Harry felt relief trickle down his spine as Chesek spoke.
Harry inclined his head respectfully, "Thank you." Looking to his mate Harry felt incredibly grateful that Snape had decided to stand up for Remus, even after all of the misgivings that he'd had earlier about the tawny haired man.
Thinking that it would be best to leave Lupin unconscious for the time being, Harry flicked his wand at the werewolf and the halfling began to levitate a few feet above the ground. Harry walked from the room, conscious that Snape was a few feet behind him as he directed Remus' limp body out of the Eternal House.
"Where should we take him?" Harry questioned Snape as they left the House.
Snape eyed Lupin's form disdainfully, "Hogwarts I suppose. Madam Pomfrey would probably want to look over him." Severus placed his hand on Harry's shoulder as Harry reached out and took hold of Lupin's wrist. The three Apparated back to the Hogwarts' grounds and moved silently up the long walk back to the castle.
When they reached the main foyer Snape stopped, "I'm going down to the dungeons, I'm sure you can get Lupin there without my help." And then the Slytherin departed in his usual cloud of black robes.
Harry watched him go thoughtfully, He definitely acting strange. He decided as he continued holding his wand towards Lupin. When Harry walked in to the infirmary Madam Pomfrey immediately began fussing over the werewolf's condition.
"Is he okay, Madam Pomfrey?" Harry questioned, standing by Remus' bedside as she flicked her wand this way and that.
"Poor dear, this last transformation must have been truly hard on him, it seems that he's collapsed from exhaustion. Probably didn't have the strength to pick himself up and Apparate back to safety." Pomfrey continued to cluck over Remus and told Harry that he might as well head back to his room for the night.
Harry nodded, "Okay, if he wakes up tell him that I'm going to visit him first thing in the morning." Leaving the infirmary, Harry couldn't help but curse his luck. The two most important men in his life were now under the same roof and he couldn't spend more time with one of them without offending the other.
Walking in to the dungeons Harry could hear the shower running and he walked slowly towards the door, which was open just a fraction, which allowed Harry to poke his head in, his eyes glued to the glass doors, which were unfortunately fogged up, obscuring his view of Snape's body. Stupid steam.
Deciding that it might be a good way to repay the other vampire, Harry stepped into the bathroom, the sound of the shower covering any noise that he might have made. Silently undressing, Snape did not know of Harry's presence until Harry opened the shower door and stepped in.
"I don't remember inviting you in." Snape said, but did not turn around, his face was to the shower head, his hands braced against the tiled wall.
It took a bit of courage on Harry's part (you try hugging Severus Snape!) as he wrapped his arms around Snape from behind, his lips going to the man's shoulder before he said, "Thank you."
Even though he knew, Severus still asked, "For what?"
"For standing by me tonight, I wasn't sure if you would, I had figured I would be alone." Harry traced his hand over Snape's chest, the water making the trip smooth.
Snape still seemed to be trying to play off his good deed (after all, the man had a reputation to keep), "You're my mate that's what I'm supposed to do."
But Harry knew it was more than that, some mates, such as Draco and his, were merely acquaintances and only saw each other once a month to exchange blood and then they went along their merry way. Harry could already tell that he and Snape were more than just mates, for all of the man's annoyingly violent, and often times evil ways, Harry didn't want to be parted from Snape, at least not for any length of time.
Snape was surprised that Harry'd had the initiative to join him in the shower. it pleased Severus that his young mate was touching him, and thanking him, because a very ugly side of Severus did not want to help the werewolf, the other man in Harry's heart. However, Severus knew that Harry would have fought every single person in the room to free the lycan and Severus would not risk Harry's life for the werewolf's.
"Let's go back to bed." Harry suggested, they had been quite comfortable before the summons to the House had arrived.
"Okay." Turning the water off, the two men left the shower and toweled off, but neither dressed again as they slid into Snape's bed, their hands immediately going to each other's body as they slid close and fell asleep with legs entangled.
-=-
Snape woke first, momentarily confused as to why he was so restricted in movement. Carefully pulling himself away from Harry, the vampire slid softly from the bed and dressed in his normal dark attire, and for a moment he stood at the foot of the bed and watched his mate's sleeping form. Snape had never known that it could be like this with someone, so comfortable and passionate, and while a part of Snape deeply yearned for that attention and for the permanent feel of another body in his bed, he did not want to get his hopes up and knew that he could decide nothing until he spoke with one man- Remus Lupin.
Leaving the dungeons Snape was not surprised to find the hallways empty- it was still rather early. The heels of Snape's boots clicked softly as he walked, the marble floors reflecting the pale sunlight that was beginning to filter in over the Forbidden Forest. Stepping in to the infirmary, Snape was immediately accosted by Madam Pomfrey, "I was merely coming to see if I could be of any service with potions or such." He immediately soothed, although he was not there for that reason.
Even though Pomfrey was skeptical of the murderer, she knew that Snape had a special skill with healing and especially with rare cases such as Lupin's, "All right, you may see him, he just woke up a few minutes ago. I will be monitoring you though." Snape almost rolled his eyes at that but continued on his way to the werewolf's bedside.
It was obvious that Remus was more than a little surprised to see the dark brooding man and the lycan's jaw immediately tightened, "Severus."
Snape, per usual, managed a little smirk as he stood at Lupin's bed side, "Lupin, you seem to be in this position a lot."
Remus narrowed his eyes, "What do you want?"
This time Snape got to the reason why he'd came, "I was wanting to know what you'd heard of Potter recently."
"If you're asking if I've heard that you two are living together then the answer is yes, I have. And I have also heard that Harry is a vampire and that is the reason they called you in." Remus, for all of his traveling, always kept informed on what Harry was doing and the boy's wellbeing.
"Good, then I won't have to waste time explaining all of that to you. What I've come here to find out is your feelings towards Potter." Snape needed to know if he was going to have any complications now that the lycan was around.
Remus raised an eyebrow "My feelings? He's like a son to me, I thought that was obvious."
Snape raised an eyebrow, unable to keep out the hint of a sneer, "You would screw your son then?"
Realization dawned on Lupin's face and he seemed slightly surprised, "Harry told you about that?"
"Yes, and as much as it makes me sick, it seems as though Potter would have wanted more from you had he not been bitten." Snape felt an ugly little monster rear it's head in his chest even as he spoke about the possibility of Harry being with anyone else.
"I've never had romantic feelings for Harry, I don't love him that way, but in the face of death, I could not deny him when he asked me to be with him." Lupin did not regret what he'd done, but he did not plan on ever doing it again.
Snape seemed a bit pleased with that answer, "Fine, that's all I wanted to know." He turned to leave but the werewolf cleared his throat, halting his steps.
"Why do you care if I had feelings for Harry? I would think you'd jump at the chance to have James Potter's son out of your hair." Lupin questioned, this time it was he who had an eyebrow raised.
Turning back to face Remus, Snape spoke easily, "Because he is my vampire mate, and I do not share." And as easily as that, Snape pushed through the curtain around Lupin's bed and walked back to the dungeons.
By the time Severus arrived back, Harry had woken and dressed, and was eating breakfast in the little kitchenette that was attached to the main sitting room.
Seeing Harry sitting there eating alone caused a little pang in Severus chest, because Severus remembered, quite vividly, eating alone many times, and feeling like an outcast on more than one occasion. Sitting down across from Harry, Severus waited a moment before saying, "Now that you've gotten use to being a vampire you could move back in to the Gryffindor Tower if you wanted... Be with your friends again." Of course, Severus did not want Harry going back to the Gryffindor Tower, but he could not endure watching someone go through the same pain and isolation that he had.
Looking up from his hot cereal and toast, Harry quirked an eyebrow, "I do not want to go back to the Gryffindor Tower. I would rather stay here." This Harry said matter-of-factly because there was nothing in the Gryffindor Tower for him to return to in his opinion.
Reaching beneath the table, Severus pinched Harry's leg softly, "Don't talk with your mouthful." He scolded, but it was obviously not heartfelt.
Harry made a little face and then said silkily, "Yes Professor." Hearing that little title cast wonderful ideas inside Snape's mind and even now he could envision screwing Potter in his student robes. "I'm going to go and see Remus for a little bit, but when I get back we should go walk on the grounds or something, we're always cooped up down here in this dungeon."
In Snape's mind there was plenty of things for him and Harry to do, but he accepted the fact that his mate needed a little fresh air that didn't involve a trip to the Eternal House. "Okay, I'll be here when you return." Wasn't he always? The other professors freaked out whenever they saw him walking around the hallways.
Swallowing the last bit in his mouth Harry smiled, "Okay, I'll be back soon then." Harry left the dungeons, thinking about the odd turn that his relationship with Snape had taken. He'd never expected to be so civil with Severus Snape.
-=-
"Hi Remus." Harry said, ducking around the curtain that partitioned off the werewolf's bed from the other white cots in the hospital wing.
"Good morning, Harry, I'm surprised to see you up here since Snape just left a few minutes ago." Remus had a book propped up in his lap and light gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose.
The look on Harry's face said that he was surprised, "He was here?"
Remus nodded, "Yes, I thought that he might have mentioned it to you. He wanted to know what I felt towards you and if I knew about you being a vampire and living with him."
Harry looked down at his hands before glancing back up at Remus, "I had wondered why you didn't come to St. Mungo's when it happened."
"Harry, you must know that I would have been there had I known at that moment. As it were, I was far out of reach from my normal contacts, and only found out about it a few days ago before the full moon. Before I could get back here I transformed and when I woke up I was surrounded by a circle of vampires, and that is the last thing I remember. How did I get back here?" Remus questioned.
Harry pulled up a chair and sat, "Well, I'm not sure how they took you to the house, but Severus and I received a letter telling us to come to the Eternal House, which is where all of the vampires convene, and when we arrived they had you lying on a dais, waiting to decide what they should do with you. A small group wanted to banish me for knowing you and wanted to do unspeakable things to you for trespassing on the coven's land. Luckily, Master Chesek allowed a house vote and after Severus voted to let you go free, some of the other wizard-vampires raised their hands as well.... Even Draco Malfoy raised his hand," Harry gave Remus a look that said that was incredible, "and then Severus and I took you from the House and brought you here."
So much had happened while he'd been asleep, "I'm a little surprised that Snape helped me, he seems a bit.. jealous and possessive.. especially of you." Remus pointed out, "When I asked him this morning why he cared what had happened between you and I, he said it's because you are his and he doesn't share."
To the bewilderment of Remus, Harry smiled a little, "Yes, that sounds like him, and even though you think I'm crazy for taking his words so lightly, I have recently discovered that I am just as jealous and possessive of Snape as he is of me. I'm beginning to think that not only are Severus and I vampire mates, but possibly wizarding mates as well." To be a wizard-mate it had to be the person you were "meant to be with", and if that was the case, it was certainly and interesting turn of events.
Remus seemed a little skeptical of Harry's idea but he shrugged, "Anything is possible I guess. Snape didn't say but will I be able to visit you down in the dungeons once I am up to it?"
Harry smiled, "Of course, and if not I'll just send him off on an errand or something. Besides, I think I'll be able to talk him into brewing you some Wolfsbane Potion." At least, Harry had a very good idea in his mind of how he could "persuade" Severus.
The werewolf shrugged, "If he won't that's fine, I don't want to feel indebted to him anymore."
"You won't be indebted to him, I will, and I can handle it." Harry stood then, "Well, I'd better get back, come visit when you're feeling better, okay?" He turned to go but stopped, "Oh, and Remus, it's really good to see you again." Harry left then, feeling much better about Severus and Remus both being at Hogwarts.

Severus and Harry were strolling across the school grounds, they had just passed the Whomping Willow, which had brought back more than one memory that Harry wished to forget, "Can I ask you a question?"
"I'm sure you're going to ask it anyway, so go ahead." Snape replied drolly, his hands behind his back as he walked, not even glancing at Harry as he spoke.
"Well, I've noticed during your time at Hogwarts that, even though I hated you, and you hated me, you always had a way of looking out for me. Like during my first Quidditch match during my First Year when Quirrell was trying to hex my broom, and then in my Third Year, even though you were completely wrong, you were trying to protect me from a suspected killer. Why?" Harry questioned curiously, it had always been something he wanted to know, but a question Dumbledore had never answered.
For a long moment Severus was silent and Harry wasn't even sure that the man was going to dignify his question with an answer, but then he spoke, "Because of your mother."
"My mother?" Harry asked in confusion.
"Yes, Lily was the only friend that I had as a child, and when she died it was most unbearable. When I had heard that you'd survived, I went to Dumbledore for a teaching position. He made me realize that if something happened to you, Lily's death would have been in vain, and so I decided to make keeping an eye on you my priority. And I can assure you that there were times when I was sure the job would be the end of me." Snape said, his eye still gazing ahead as they rounded the corner of the castle and the lake came into view.
Harry thought about what Snape said, "I didn't realize that you and my mother had been so close, especially since you hated my father so much."
Snape's voice was especially dry, "James was a different story- pompous, arrogant, obnoxious.. but he was good to Lily." The last bit Snape added in a grudging voice and it didn't pass Harry's notice that this was the first time Snape had ever said anything remotely good about his father, normally Snape would have taken the chance to tell Harry just how worthless James had been.
Regardless of who might have been watching from the school courtyard, or looking out from a window, Harry took Snape's hand and twined their fingers as they walked. Snape did not pull away.
-=-
"Do you think you can make Remus some Wolfsbane Potion?" Harry questioned as they sat across from each other, eating in the comfort of the dungeons.
Snape looked up and swallowed the bite of meat pie that he'd neatly placed into his mouth with his fork, his eyebrows quirking at the way Harry carelessly shoveled his food in, "Why? You know how to make it." Or at least, as a student of Severus Snape, Harry should know how to make it.
Harry gave Snape a nonplussed look, "You know that I suck at potions."
"I'll help you." Snape said simply, slightly amused at the stunned expression on Harry's face.
"Help me? I don't think that's a good idea, I'll just end up making you angry at me." At least that's what usually happened when he and Severus were in the same room with steaming cauldrons.
This actually earned a dry little laugh from Snape, "I promise to try and keep my temper as long as you promise to pay attention, if that's even possible for you."
Harry smiled a little, "I promise to try."
-=-
It was Thursday evening and Harry looked up at the clock above the mantle, Draco was suppose to arrive soon for another etiquette lesson, this time it was to discuss the appropriate clothing since vampires from the Eternal House were suppose to be the most sophisticated, best dressed, vampires out of all the rest.
Hearing a knock on the dungeon portrait, Harry called for it to open and was a little surprised to see that it was Remus who rather timidly poked his head into the room, "Hey Harry, mind if I come in?"
"Not at all, Remus, come have a seat, I'm just waiting on Draco." Harry said, patting the spot on the couch beside of him.
"Draco?" Remus questioned as he went and joined Harry in front of the couch.
"Yeah, amazingly enough, I have to take etiquette lessons from him every Thursday. It's not easy being a vampire." Harry made a face and then from the fire stepped Draco, looking as tall and regal as ever, his black cloak fitting snug to his muscled body and his blond hair falling softly into his eyes.
"Lupin, good to see you looking better." Draco said politely, despite the vampire vendetta against all werewolves and his family's own disgust at the creatures, Draco had always liked having Lupin as a professor, and once the Dark Lord had fallen, Draco had been more than willing to help Lupin.
Lupin flashed a little smile, "Thank you, Draco, Harry told me that you were one of the ones who voted for my freedom."
Draco smiled, "Yes, well, I seem to remember you helping me out when I was in a rather sticky situation so I suppose that we are even now. Harry, are you going to invite your guest to sit?" He questioned, almost with the tone of a scolding teacher.
"Oh yeah," Harry stood, "please, have a seat." And after Draco had seated himself, Harry sat back down on the couch, his legs crossed lightly as he dared Draco to find something wrong with his posture.
However, Draco seemed to have forgotten all about Harry again in favor of talking to Remus, "How long will you be staying at Hogwarts?"
It amazed Harry how easily the two men spoke, as if they really knew each other.... "I'm not sure, I'm planning on staying for a few more days at least, I believe Minerva would like me to take on the Care of Magical Creatures post and allow Hagrid to return to his game keeping duties."
Draco smiled and said smoothly, "I'm sure that you would do a fine job with it." And when Draco and Remus became ensnared with an intense stare Harry felt the need to clear his throat.
Although Draco and Remus were talking about every day things, Harry still felt as if they were speaking some hidden, intimate language and he definitely got the feeling that there was something between these two that he didn't know about, "I'm just going to go see where Severus got off to...." Leaving the two men Harry wasn't surprised when they immediately sparked up another conversation.
No way... Harry stepped back into Snape's bedroom and crooked a finger at the man, "Come here and look at these two."
Severus, who had been reading, quirked an eyebrow, "Who?"
"Remus and Draco, they're practically having sex with words, and the worst part is that they're talking about work."
Snape came over and he and Harry stuck their heads out of the bedroom door, both peeping around the corner at the two men as they eavesdropped.
"I hadn't heard from you in a while, Remus, and I was beginning to get worried." Draco said, small talk aside as he moved over onto the couch with Remus.
"I know, Draco, but after what you said last time.." Lupin trailed off, looking down at his hands, which were folded neatly in his lap.
Draco hooked a finger beneath Remus' chin and tilted the man's face up, "I meant it, Remus, every word of it." And then Severus and Harry just about fell out of the door way when Draco leant forward and pressed his lips softly to Lupin's.
Lupin looked into Draco's eyes and shook his head softly, "Draco, I'm too old and scarred, and...."
"I don't care about any of those things, Remus, I've told you that before that I love you." Harry had never heard Draco's voice sound like that before, but he did have one consolation, there was no way Snape could be jealous of Lupin now!
It was easy to see that Lupin's defense was being slowly worn down, "What about your coven?"
Draco smiled a little, "What I do with my time is my business." The former Slytherin (who had graduated early due to the War and his vampirism) put a hand on Remus' leg, "Come with me, Remus, let me look after you."
And then Lupin's defense was completely wiped away, "Okay, let me at least say good bye to Harry first so he doesn't wonder where I disappeared to."
This made Draco smile and he kissed Remus again, "Okay, I'll see you at my place then." Draco stood then and vanished within the fire as he always did.
Unable to help themselves, Snape and Harry came pouring out of the hallway, "You and Draco!" Harry exclaimed, "You could have told me!"
Lupin flushed a bit and tried to shrug it off, "There wasn't much to tell up until now. I suppose to the two of you were listening.." at the guilty look on Harry's face and the indifferent one on Snape's, Lupin continued, "I'm going to go to Draco's then. I'll come by and visit again soon, Harry." Harry nodded and after sharing a brief hug, Lupin too vanished into the fire.
"That's just so surprising." Harry said, looking into the fire still.
Severus' arms came around him from behind, "No more surprising than you and I." He pointed out, and Harry had to agree to that one. The Daily Prophet hadn't learned that Harry was a vampire but they'd certainly found out that he was living with Severus Snape.
"Lupin told me that you came and saw him the morning he first woke up." Harry said, having meant to talk to Severus about it for the past several days.
"Oh?" Severus said, although he was more preoccupied with unbuttoning the front of Harry's robes.
"Yes, he called you jealous and possessive." Harry said, leaning back into his mate's touch.
"And what do you think about that?" Severus questioned, his lips going to Harry's neck.
Harry purred, "I like it."
