**Flashback**
The back of his hand collided with my cheek as I sat on the floor crying. His boots kicked me in the ribs.
"How dare you! You whore!" he yelled at me pointing his wand at me.
"Crucio!"
Every bone in my body felt as if they were breaking, my muscles pulling in all directions. I felt pain like I had never felt before. I couldn't speak, all I could do was scream in agony.
The sharp pains left leaving behind dull aches. I put my hand around my pregnant stomach fearing for my child. Was it still alive?
He took a handful of my hair and dragged me on the bed.
"You belong to me! Do you hear me you whore! If I see you look at another man again I will kill you myself!"
"Please! Please, stop!" I screamed in pain as he continued to hit my face.
"You look at the ground! Always at the ground when spoken to! You do not look at any man, ever!" he said and spread my legs apart putting himself between my thighs.
"YOU. BELONG. TO. ME." he said tearing apart my clothes.
"No. Please no." I whimpered as my husband tried to force himself inside me.
Then he put his hands on top of my stomach, his eyes full of evil, and started to press down. My child! My child!
"Avada Kedavra!" my voice sounded in the dark room with only one flash of light that was evident for only a second as it leaped from my wand and onto his heart.
**End Flashback**
The memory replayed over and over in my head as I laid on my bed sweating. It was on this night that I did the unthinkable. I had used an unforgivable curse. I had killed my husband.
I was in complete darkness. Fear. Fear. Fear. My entire body shook. The memory replayed itself again and I screamed, not knowing where the voice came from, not knowing where I was. Only feeling fear.
The banging on the door became louder. Louder. Louder. "Eileen!!!" a voice yelled from the other side of the door.
The door blew open and a figure came through and headed towards me in my bed.
"No!" I screamed, "No please! I didn't do anything! I swear! Please!"
"Eileen! It's me! It's me!" the man said grabbing my wrists.
"Let go! Let go! I promise I won't look at another man again! Please don't hurt me anymore!"
The man continued to hold on to my wrist, pulling me up to my knees, "You're safe! It's me, Severus! Eileen!"
The memory stopped. I felt hands on my wrists. I smelled that sweet familiar scent that I loved. I heard the voice that have given me comfort for three months.
"It's Severus," he repeated again.
"Severus?" I asked.
"Yes," he said pulling me to him and wrapping his arms around me. He sat on the bed and put my legs across his as he held me on his lap.
"It's okay. You're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you," he said rocking me back and forth.
Then my father, along with the other professors came into my room.
"Heavens! Is everything alright?!" Professor McGonagall said, lighting every candle in the sitting room and in the bedroom with her wand.
I kept my head low against Severus's chest.
He looked up at them, "Yes. Just a nightmare."
They soon left, but my father remained. He walked up to me and put his hand on my head. I looked up with tear stained face all red and blotchy.
"My daughter," was all he could say. My father knew everything. Then he turned to Severus, "thank you, dear friend." He said to him and left, closing the door behind him.
Severus dimmed the candles until all but one diminished, the one across from the bed on the dresser. He held on to me as he got onto my bed and laid down.
I laid down beside him, my head on his chest and my arms wrapped around him. He held me tightly and then put the blanket around us.
I fell asleep with tears still in my eyes and I passed the rest of the night with a dreamless sleep.
That next morning I awoke to find myself cuddled up with Severus in my bed. His face was relaxed, no frown, no scowl. He looked handsome that way. It was a saturday and there was no need to get up, yet. I savored the moment, feeling every inch of his body that touched mine.
When he finally awoke, he looked down at me, at first not realizing where he was. Then his head fell back on the pillow with a smile, and then the smile turned into a frown.
"Are you alright?" he asked sitting up on the bed causing me let go of him. Then he started to get up. I pulled him back down on the bed by holding onto his arms.
"Please, don't leave, not just yet," I pleaded.
He got back on the bed, with his back to the headboard, and caressed my cheek, "your eyes are red."
I looked down, "I must be a sight."
He smiled then, "you're beautiful."
I laughed, "You don't have to lie."
"I'm not."
I put my head on his chest again and put my arms around his waist.
He responded by putting his arms around me.
"Severus, about last night," I started.
"You don't have to explain if you don't want to. I'll understand," he said.
"You're such a gentleman, Severus,"I said. But I wanted to tell him anyway. So I proceeded to tell him about my past; about my jealous abusive husband, about a small party where men were around and I had failed to look at the ground in their presence, and about what he did to me later that night, and finally how I killed him with the killing curse.
He held me tighter, "He was wrong, Eileen. No man should treat a woman like that. I would kill him myself given the chance. You did the right thing... I will never let anyone hurt you again."
I looked up at him, his dark pools staring right through my eyes and into my soul.
He lifted my chin and put his head down to meet my lips. The sweet hot sensation of his lips melted me. My mouth parted to let him in, his tongue made their way inside my mouth and met with my tongue. He held me closer, tighter and my hands moved up to his hair holding on to him. My emotions exploded in this kiss. I cared about this man, more than cared about him. I wanted him and I wanted to be with him.
All too soon, he pulled away. He looked me deep in my eyes again, "I will never hurt you, Eileen."
"I know you won't."

"Are you going to the Yule Ball?" I asked Hermione as she finished up the last of her homework.
"Ummm. Yes," she said quietly and blushed.
I took her books and put them back in the book shelves, "ohhhhh... Look at you!" I said teasingly, "Who's taking you?"
"Viktor Krum," she whispered as we left the library.
"What?!" I said in shock, "Wow, Hermione. I never figured you the type to go for a guy like him, but he's lucky."
She only smiled and look down.
"Are you embarrassed by it?" I asked.
"No, of course not. It's just that... No one has asked me before. I mean you know, like on a date or something," she explained pushing her hair back behind her ears.
"This is a momentous occasion then!"
She laughed, "Are you going?"
"Of course I am," I said.
"Who are you going with?"
"No one's asked me, but I'm more like the rest of the professors here. Just going to supervise," I said thinking of Severus and wishing he'd ask me. But I knew he wouldn't, he had a reputation to keep up with the students.
"You can still dance though," she said cheerfully.
"That's true. Maybe I can get the Headmaster to dance with me," we both laughed, but I knew if I asked him he would.
Hermione had become such a close companion these past few months and thoroughly enjoyed her company, I wanted to tell her the truth about me, who I really was, but I knew I couldn't. My father has told me of her feats with the Dark Lord, along with Ron and Harry's. I wondered how such young teenagers could be so strong. Hermione truly was brilliant and I admired her for it. She's going to do things, she's going to be somebody, I knew it.
When we reached the Great Hall for lunch, we parted way as she went to the Gryffindor table and I went to the staff's table where Severus was already sitting.
"You and Granger have been spending a lot of time together," Severus pointed out.
"Yes, she's a smart girl," I said.
"That she is, but don't get too attached," he warned. I looked at him in confusion; sometimes I really hated it when my father and Severus spoke cryptically.
"And why not?" I asked.
"She's a student, nothing else," he said.
"And what about you and Harry? You act like you hate him, but deep down I know you care for the boy," I countered. This hit a nerve with him, he looked at me menacingly.
"Do as you like," he said and left the Great Hall through the side door.
I leaned back in my chair and huffed. Why did he have to be so stubborn and defensive all the time?! He truly was a Slytherin.
Beside me my father chuckled as he ate his chocolate pudding.
"And what may I ask is so amusing?" I said to him.
"You like him very much, don't you?" he eyed me.
I rolled my eyes, "Not this again. He's my friend, that's all."
He chuckled once more and set down his pudding, "And I suppose friends kiss when they say good night to each other."
My jaw dropped. How did he know?! Ahh!! He always knows everything. "I would appreciate it if you wouldn't spy on me," I said.
"I didn't spy, but you two aren't trying very hard to hide your feelings for one another."
"There's no feelings and there's nothing to hide!" I got up immediately, upset that my father still treated me like a child. But then again, wasn't I acting like a child.
"Ahhh. Love," he said and went on to a second helping of chocolate pudding.
I walked towards the potions classroom with determination. I was going to tell him, yes I was going let him know and give him a piece of my mind. I pushed the door to the classroom so hard it hit the adjacent wall and made the classroom shake.
"SEVERUS SNAPE! I don't know you who you think you are! But if you think you-" I started on my rampage as I walked towards his desk where he sat, then stopped immediately. I looked around at what I had assumed would be empty tables, but instead were already filled with students, among them were Harry, Ron and Hermione.
I straightened up and put down my accusing finger which was pointed at Severus.
"Sorry for the disruption," I said to him and took my leave, closing the door behind me.
Before I could get any farther, the door opened again. He stepped out and closed the door behind him. Anger seethed beneath his face, he wasn't trying to hide it.
"Explain yourself," he demanded.
Did he really just say that? Did he really just speak to me like I was one of his students?! I pushed him against the wall, pointing at his chest, "First off, I am not one of your students, so you will not talk to me like that. Second of all, I wasn't aware class had already started."
"Well what do you want?"
"I was going to give you a piece of my mind!"
"Well?" he crossed his arms.
My anger had lost it's momentum and I stood there, dumbfounded.
I sighed, "why do you have a problem with me spending time with Hermione, really?"
"I just don't want you to become attached and then hurt," he said sincerely.
"Severus... I lost my only child... And now there is this magnificent girl who wants to spend time with me, who sees me as a role model... She makes me feel like I am needed, like when my daughter needed me," I admitted to him.
He put his arms around me in a hug, "I'm sorry I made a fuss. I admit I was envious of Granger because you spend more time with her than you do with me."
I laughed, "You, Severus Snape, are you jealous a fourth year girl?"
He let go of me, "If I knew you were going to laugh at me, I wouldn't have said anything."
I took his hands and made him put them around me once more, my hands then wrapping around his neck as I stood on my tip toes, planting a kiss on his lips.
"The only reason I don't spend as much time with you is because you have to teach all the time and you have to grade over a hundred papers," I said.
He pursed his lips, "I suppose you're right."
"Of course I am. Now get back to class," I teased.
"A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo," Severus finished reading the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet.
I sat between his legs as he closed the book and put it on top of the night stand.
"That was tragic," I said sighing, "but very romantic."
I turned around so that I was on top of him, but still between his legs. "Severus," I started.
"Yes?" he asked kissing my forehead.
"What are we?" I asked him.
"What do you mean?"
"Are we together?"
He smirked, "clearly."
I smiled, but said nothing more, resting my head on his chest.
"Would you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" he asked.
I looked up and smiled, "I would love to." I wondered what my father would say if I were to tell him that I am now dating a man much older than myself. Of course he probably already knew and did not seem to be against whatever relationship I had with Severus. I could just imagine the triumphant look on his face when I tell him that Severus and I are now a couple. In his mind he would be saying "I was right."
"Eileen," he whispered as I was about to fall asleep.
"Yes?" I mumbled.
"You have to get to bed," he said and gently put me on the bed and off of him.
"I am in bed," I said sleepily.
"Good night," He said getting off the bed. I caught his arm and pulled him back.
"Please, stay," I said in a stupor. I was in between sleep and wake.
He sighed, and laid beside me, "Silly woman." He smiled and kissed my lips.
