Chapter 5

     “How do I get in contact with Professor Snape?” Hermione asked Draco the next morning as they were having a late brunch on the patio

“Still calling him professor after last night?” Draco asked smirking at her “so how long have you had a crush on uncle Sev?”

Hermione looked at Draco in surprise

“I like him; it isn’t some stupid little crush…he interests me” she snapped

“Well I think he’s very interested in you too” Draco said

“Of course he isn’t! He still sees me as a little girl and it was just a few dances last night…nothing special” Hermione stated, blushing lightly at the memories from last night

“If he wasn’t interested he would’ve never dance with you” he said

“Well, he was also interested in the woman he was dancing with before” she stated ‘just tell me how to contact him”

“You’ll have to ask father, he’s normally the one to contact him” Draco said

      When they were finished with bunch, Hermione went in search of Lucius and found him in the library.

“Lucius, I need to ask you a favour” she said interrupting his reading

“I am at your service milady” he said placing the book down and smirking at her

“I’ve been thinking a lot lately and I’m ready to go back to Hogwarts and teach” Hermione said

“Are you sure you’re ready?” he asked her surprised

“I’m more than ready to get back to my own life Lucius; I can’t continue to live off of you and Narcissa”

“You can never impose on Narcissa and I Hermione but I am happy about your decision” he said “now what was the favour?”

“I need to talk with professor Snape” Hermione told him

“Certainly, I’m sure Severus would be pleased with your news” he said “should I invite him for dinner tonight?”

“No…I need tot talk to him alone” she said

     Lucius pulled out an envelope from his robe pocket.

“It’s a portkey”

“I can’t just pop into his house unannounced!” Hermione exclaimed

“He gave me this a few days ago in case you were ready to talk” Lucius said “He will be expecting you I’m sure”

Hermione glanced down at the shorts and tank top she was wearing, hoping he wouldn’t be offended if she popped in her house so muggle. She took hold of the portkey and it immediately became active and she felt the very familiar tugging in her stomach as she was transported to professor Snape’s house.

    She landed in the living room of Snape’s house. Suddenly, a house elf immediately popped in.

“Master Snape has been expecting you misses Hermione” the house elf said “me will take you to him”

Hermione followed the house elf through the house where they reached the study that Snape was in.

“Miss Granger” he said as Hermione took a seat on the couch

“I came to tell you that I’m accepting your offer as the potions mistress at Hogwarts” she told him

“Your decision surprises me; what has changed your mind?” he asked sitting next to her on the couch

“I miss magic and I’ve missed so much…I think I’m ready to return” Hermione said

“I shall start making the preparations for your return soon; the other members of staff will be thrilled” professor Snape said

     ‘Are you happy that I’m coming back too?” she blurted out

“I…” but he was interrupted by a woman’s voice calling his name

The woman had found her way to the study; it was the same woman from the club! She looked even more beautiful than she had the night before; her long blonde hair reaching her waist and her big blue eyes sparkled. Hermione suddenly felt a pang of jealousy when she saw Snape smile at her.

“I’ll just leave then professor” Hermione said softly “I don’t want to take up anymore of your time”

“Miss Granger, we still have things to talk about” professor Snape said

‘I think we’re done for now professor” she said before fleeing the study and disapparting right into Draco’s room

“Hermione, what’s wrong?” Draco asked as she curled up next to him on his bed

“I’m so stupid” she mumbled into the pillow

She had always admired her potions professor and since her sixth year she had a crush on him. Over the last few weeks, she thought the relationship between them could change into something more but clearly there was someone else in his life.

‘What happened?” he asked

“I should’ve never listened to you! I actually went there thinking that maybe something could change! He could never like me!” Hermione rambled

“Of course he can! Why not?” Draco asked

“He has a girlfriend, that woman from the club was there” she said “he was even smiling at her”

“So what are you going to do about everything?” he asked

“Nothing, he could never be interested in me now”
