Chap. 6: The second analytic visit.

Right on time, again, Healer Tompkins showed up at Harry’s bedchamber. If there was one thing that Harry would say about her, was that she was, in fact, punctual. However, this time, Harry had a few questions of his own, and he wanted them answered before he went any farther.

“Well, Mr. Potter, you are looking better today, with good colour, and your blood pressure has stayed low, it seems, which is a big plus”. Healer Tompkins commented. “Aberforth informed me that you actually ate breakfast and lunch today, which is very good, indeed”.

“Yes, I have been eating well now, but Healer Tompkins, I have a few questions today, before we get started, if that would be okay with you”? Harry asked, as he did want to get straight answers from the witch.

“Yes, of course, Mr. Potter, so fire away then”. Tompkins replied, as she took a seat in the chair by the bed.

“First, and foremost is, I want to know why you think I should believe you, or what you tell me, which I know will be different from what has been told to me before”? Harry asked.

“Mr. Potter, I do not want you to believe what I say, I want you to believe in what you know as facts”. The Healer explained. “I want you to see, from the memories I showed you yesterday, what the truth actually is, and not something that I’ve told you, or that I’ve conjured out of thin air.

“I will continue to do this during your entire treatment, and I want you to determine what is fact, and what is fiction. After all, that’s what a good mind healer should do for you, as if I only told you my point of view, I would merely be brainwashing you, again, like I think others have already done”.

“All right, I can understand that”. Harry said. “Next, why is it that Aberforth, nor Malfoy, will talk to me about any of this? They will only ask about my health, and talk about mundane every day things, and nothing about their views on this. Hell, Malfoy won’t tell me anything about his treatment at all”!

“That is because, Mr. Potter, that anything they would say, regarding the past, or their own views, would be the same as them coercing you into thinking like them, and having their views”. Tompkins explained. “Neither wants to do this to you, as they know what they think about what happened, and both have their own views on it. They want you to have the same thing, and not something that they have put into your head. They want you to see the facts, and make a determination based on those facts, as to the way a normal society really is”.

“Okay, Healer Tompkins, I can agree with that, but what about my friends being able to visit me, as I know they have to be looking for me by now”? Harry asked, as he had been racking his brain over this since he arrived there.

“I am afraid, Mr. Potter, that they can’t be allowed to see you, until you have at least been here for thirty days”. Tompkins said, and held up her hand to stave off any more words from Harry. “They could be detrimental to your treatment, as they would be putting the same ideas back into your head, which we are trying to make you see the difference in now.

“Mr. Potter, it has come to my attention, that Albus Dumbledore had the Weasley family get close to you, on and since the day of your arrival on platform 9 ¾. They were told to ‘steer you along the right path’, by the deceased headmaster. The elder Weasley’s were members of the Order of the Phoenix, and since they had children that were your age, and would be attending school with you, they were told to look after you, so to speak. Also, do not think that anything you did, that they were aware of, was not reported back to Mr. Dumbledore, as it was.

“I also think, Mr. Potter, that Albus Dumbledore picked that family because of their extreme views on what had happened in the past. I hate to say this, Mr. Potter, but the Weasley family is known throughout wizarding Britain as one of the most prejudiced, and bigoted families that have ever held a wand, when it comes to others views not matching their own. They are all hot-tempered individuals, and are quick to accuse anyone of being foul, that does not see eye to eye with them. Really, I think you know this, but may try to fight seeing them as they really are, due to them taking you in for the summers, and befriending you.

“Now, Mr. Potter, that is only my opinion, and you know what really happened between you, so you need to really sit back and review what I’ve said, and compare it to their actions. I do not think that they see what they did as wrong, and only as following orders set forth by the Order.

“Lastly, Mrs. Granger was ordered to do the same, after she befriended you, when you saved her from that Troll during your first year. After she was monitored by several professors, I think she was approached by your own head of house, Minerva McGonagall, and was asked to help you along, and finally, I think, Albus Dumbledore had a few words with her, too.

“Since the Weasley’s, and Mrs. Granger, share similar views, and those would be what the Headmaster wanted instilled into you, he asked them to steer you in that direction, and to keep you out of trouble, and to keep you from associating with ‘the wrong sort’”.

“What do you mean by ‘the wrong sort’? Harry asked.

“Anyone who was not a Gryffindor, Mr. Potter, nor a witch or wizard who was sympathetic to the old pureblood traditions”. Healer Tompkins explained. “Anyone who was either neutral, or on He-Who-Must-Be-Named side during this war.

“The reason I state that anyone who wasn’t a Gryffindor, is because most of the neutral families were in Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and a few in Slytherin. There were a few in Gryffindor, also, but not as many. Plus, there were a lot of half-blood children, and so-called muggleborns, within Gryffindor”. Tompkins explained.

“What did you mean by ‘so-called muggleborns’”? Harry asked.

“Mr. Potter, in the healing community, we do not believe that there are any children born to muggle parents that just happen to have magic show up suddenly, without any explanation. I am sure you remember hearing about genetics in the muggle world, well, that carries over into ours as well.

“If one looked into the so-called muggleborn child’s ancestry, one would probably find that either their mother had had an affair with a wizard, or maybe a grandparent had, and a child was born from it. It is also known that magic can skip a generation or two, before showing up again”. Healer Tompkins explained. “Don’t look so surprised, Mr. Potter, and it isn’t an insult, as the woman may have not known she had had sex with a stranger, and thought that she was pregnant by her husband. There have been cases of wizards raping muggle women, and obliviating their memories afterward. Some pureblood wizards have gotten muggle women pregnant in the past, and obliviated them, to keep from being exposed as having relations with a muggle. It’s cruel, but it’s happened”.

“Well, I thought I was a half-blood”! Harry exclaimed.

“No, Mr. Potter, you were never a half-blood, as both of your parents were magical. I would say you are a pureblood, or as close to it as you can get by any description. Now, You-Know-Who, was a true half-blood, as his father was a muggle, and there is no history of the Riddle family ever having magical offspring”.

As Harry now stared at the Healer, with his mouth hanging open, she thought it time to get into today’s project.

“Now, Mr. Potter, let us start with the facts about the relatives who reared you, and what caused this to happen. Here, again, I will only state the facts, as I have learned of them, and allow you to come to the conclusion that works for you.

“First, the fact remains that Sirius Black was named your Godfather, and should have been the one to have reared you in their place.

“Second, is a fact that several people showed up at your home on the night of your parent’s murder. The first were You-No-Who, and Peter Pettigrew. We know they were both on the scene, and that Pettigrew ran, after You-Know-Who fell. This, in turn, caused another visitor to show up, one Severus Snape.

“Once Severus saw the scene before him, and after he had mourned for a short while, he notified Albus Dumbledore about what had happened, who then contacted both Sirius Black, and Rubeus Hagrid.

“Mr. Black showed up next, after Severus Snape had already left, to find the bodies of your parents, and you, alone, in the house. Here, he took you from your room, and on the way out, he gave you to Hagrid to take away from the scene, and handed over his flying motorbike, then disapparated, telling Hagrid beforehand that he was going to go look for the traitor that caused it.

“We now know that Sirius Black cornered Peter Pettigrew, who then blew up a muggle street, killing several, and then faked his own death, while making it look like Sirius had committed the murders.

“Next, we know that Hagrid was to take you to a safe location, where he was then directed to take you to your aunt’s home, by Albus Dumbledore, later the following night.

“We also know that Hagrid described what happened with Sirius to the Headmaster, even the part about Sirius saying he was going to look for the traitor, which means, Mr. Potter, that Albus Dumbledore should have known that Sirius wasn’t responsible for what happened.

“The next day, Minerva McGonagall went to your relatives home, disguised in her animagus form, and watched the Dursley’s actions the full day, and on into that night.

“When Albus Dumbledore arrived that night, and before you were brought to your relatives, Minerva McGonagall warned Dumbledore about what kind of people they were, saying that they were the ‘worst sort of muggles there was’. She also asked Dumbledore why he didn’t try to remove your scar, and he told her that it could be useful, and stated that your relatives were all you had now. By this time, they had Sirius in custody, and Dumbledore did not try to stop the Ministry from taking Mr. Black to Azkaban, even though Hagrid had told Dumbledore that Sirius had went to look for the traitor.

“It is also known that Albus Dumbledore visited your father three days before his murder, asking to borrow his invisibility cloak, and that he would have had to have been given the address by Peter Pettigrew in order to find them.

“Last, it is also known that Albus Dumbledore alluded to you having been on the receiving end of the killing curse, when in fact, he knew your mother was the one hit by it, and the curse rebounded off her, and back onto You-Know-Who. The killing curse, Mr. Potter, does not leave a mark, and you, had a scar from something else.

“These facts, Mr. Potter, are what I want you to contemplate this afternoon, and we will discuss them upon my return, tomorrow”. Healer Tompkins finished, stood, and started making her way to the door, while Harry sat dumbfounded on the bed.
