Hermione woke up from her fitful sleep feeling drained and uncomfortable groaning softly she looked over at her muggle digital clock. She had worked out a charm for it back in sixth year to make it no longer require batteries and to run properly in the magical world. The red light of the clock read six thirty in the morning she groaned rolling over in her bed and began to sit up. Her limbs felt like lead it was so hard for her to move, she finally made it into a seated position and felt dizzy, stifled, like she couldn’t take a full breath into her lungs to regain herself.
She made to stand, her motions slow and slightly painful as she walked over to a set of double doors turning the brass knobs pushing softly on them until they opened to reveal a small balcony. The cool morning breeze rushed into the room surrounding Hermione goose bumps rising from her soft skin. She took a deep breath of the cool morning air letting the rush fill her lungs letting it flow and run through her whole body. She walked all the way out onto the ledge, she had never been more thankful for being the Head Girl, one of the many perks her own balcony. Even though being out in the fresh air had helped to ease some of Hermione’s discomfort she was still feeling out of sorts. She took a few more calming deep breaths as she looked out over the grounds of Hogwarts as the morning sun had begun the rise in the sky.
‘Mistress?’ Hermione heard softly, ‘Inanna you don’t seem yourself..’ She could hear Ventus’s concern in his voice as he caressed her cheek softly flowing down her bare back. It was then that she realized she was still unclothed and now that the sun had fully risen she was sure that if someone were to venture out on the lawns and look up to where she stood they were in for quite the eye full. She then turned and made her way slowly back into her room still feeling discomfort throughout her body. She reached for the soft pink silk robe that hung from her wardrobe moaning softly in pain as she slid into the robe and secured it around her small waist. She had bought it with Ginny on a shopping trip to a fancy lingerie store in muggle London she remembered as her fingers ran lightly along the tie around her waist.
Remembering that Ventus had spoken to her she walked back over to sit down and lean against the door frame to her balcony. Resting her head back feeling Ventus running through her hair she sighed softly and finally responded to him.
‘I’m sure I just didn’t get enough rest,’ she thought softly as she heard the birds begin to chirp and sing announcing the morning to the rest of the school. ‘Once I get this breakfast with the Headmaster and Snape over with I’ll lay back down and get some good rest.’ She thought softly.
‘Inanna the Earth calls to you this stone is dead and has no more life within its walls! Only the magic of wizards none of its own! You must..’ She waved her hand and made a small noise to silence him.
‘Hush now Ventus.’ Hermione said calmly, ‘I am fine, I’m simply tired from last night’s events.’
‘But Mistress!..’
‘No Ventus, quiet now. I’m sure the Headmaster will be here soon to discuss what happened. Though what he expects me to tell him I just don’t know. I still have so many unanswered questions myself.’ She groaned as she made her way to stand from her position in the door frame, faltering slightly Ventus guided her the rest of the way up stabilizing her until he felt she could manage on her own.
‘I should get ready.’ Walking over to her wardrobe she opened the large solid door shivering slightly at how cold the wood was against her hand. She wondered how she had never noticed before, the trees in the forest and the Earth outside under her feet was so comfortably warm last night. Realizing this she let her eyes travel around her room noticing how everything was just as it was, there was no longer any life in the stone walls that surrounded her, no vines of amber flowing through the wood posts of her bed.
‘They’ve been removed from the Mother,’ Ventus said softly to her knowing her thoughts, ‘their lives ended when they were created into objects, no longer alive they have lost their connection to Demeter and now to you. Their warmth of life has gone leaving only the cold of death.’
Hermione nodded her understanding, sadden by the lack of warmth in her room she pulled the thin robe up around her neck and turned back to look into her wardrobe. She continued to stare unseeing into the abyss of clothes that were in front of her, so much had changed in just a short amount of time not even twelve hours ago she was just Harry Potter’s mudblood friend Hermione Granger brightest witch of her age. Now she was Inanna daughter of Demeter destined to help Harry destroy Voldemort and bring light to the darkness that has befallen on the Earth. Hermione let out a deep breathe feeling the weight of it all suddenly upon her chest making her even more uncomfortable then she felt before.
‘It’s nothing you can’t handle Inanna,’ Ventus breathed gently into her year, brushing against her relieving the tension she felt in her body.
Hermione breathed deeply bringing her foggy brain back to the task at hand, getting dressed to meet the Headmaster and Snape. She would worry on the questions that swirled in her mind later.
Glancing over her shoulder at her clock she saw that it read eight fifteen, where had the time gone she wondered knowing they would be there for breakfast at nine. Looking back at her cloths the thought of getting dressed in her school uniform just felt stifling. She untied the sash on her robe and let the soft pink silk slip from her shoulders to pool around her feet and reached into the dark wooden wardrobe.
She picked a soft yellow dress that hung around her shoulders and hugged her waist loosely until it fell to stop at her knees in delicate ruffles. Pulling it out on the hanger she went to lay it down on her bed walked over to a small dresser that stood on the other side of the room next to a large floor to ceiling bookcase. She opened the top drawer and pulled out a small lavender lace panty and walked into her bathroom.
Hermione remembered when she had first walked into the large room and gazed upon the gold tiled floor and walls, with the large white porcelain tub that she was sure could fit at least five people covered in gold faucets of all sizes that poured different bubbles and oils into the water. She walked over to the large glass door to the shower turning the gold handle to a steamy temperature deciding to grab her tooth brush while she waited for the water to heat. Ventus had followed her into the bath and was laughing softly while he swirled the steam into little cyclones, Hermione smiled as she turned having rinsed her mouth and walked into the shower. The many large gold shower heads beat softly down upon her helping to relieve the tension she felt in her body.
Hermione’s mind seemed to drift as she leaned against the wall letting the water fall onto her skin, the cool tile made her shiver causing her soft pink nipples to harden into points. She moaned softly as the hot water pounded into the sensitive buds. Before she even realized what she was doing her small hands began to run up her body cupping her breasts lightly squeezing before one hand began to travel lower brushing over her honey curls. Slipping her finger between her warms lips Hermione gasped as she began to slowly circle her sensitive nub. Her breathing became more uneven, as her legs began to shiver the tension between them growing unbearably tight. She closed her eyes and there in her mind they were no longer her hands but large rough hands, hands she didn’t recognize but that knew all the right ways to touch her. The hands were rubbing her body and pinching her small nipple as they palmed her breast running down her back to give a soft smack to her round butt. The tension finally burst and Hermione moaned loudly as she was rocked with a wave of pleasure,..and then, there was nothing but grey eyes.. dark as a sea storm. They stared into her watching as she came apart. They seemed to burn into her stealing her soul and making her forever his.
Hermione’s eyes shot opened as she gasped looking around and she was alone again in the shower. Shaking her head wondering where that had come from she quickly washed and stepped out of the shower telling herself that she would think on it later, she waved a hand in front of her body and was dry, Ventus working the knots out of her hair before she dried that as well and it fell into soft ringlets.
Walking over to the sink she grabbed her clean panties sliding the soft lavender fabric up her long creamy legs. She made her way back out into her room and over to her dresser looking back into the drawer Hermione eyed the bra that matched. Her lip curled up slightly deciding against it not wanting the harsh underwire pressing into her sensitive skin. Already the energy she seemed to gain in the shower started to fade, walking the short distance back over to her bed to slip the dress over her head she started to feel dizzy again.
After securing her dress Hermione sat on her bed, standing seemed very difficult right at that moment.
‘Inanna you are not well! You must ge..’
‘Ventus be silent darling,’ Hermione hushed him, ‘my head is bothering me and you are not helping.’ Ending shortly as he ran through her dark golden hair making sure his Mistress looked presentable. Hermione sighed, the breeze around her helping to easy her discomfort she stood slowly from her bed making her way over to her door that lead to the common room. Ventus supported her as she opened the door and made her way out to the stairs that lead to the large room below, as she reached the top stair she looked down to see a head of blonde and there they were.. stormy grey eyes looking back up at her. She walked down the steps to where he was seated in their common room, Ventus having to support her most of the way.
“Good morning Malfoy.” She said softly as she made her was over to the table that was set up for them to study at. She waved her hand and the mess of books neatly stacked themselves away on the proper selves, she again waved her hand at two quills that were left and transfigured them into two more chairs seeing as how there were normally only two. ‘One for me and one for Draco.’ Her thought stopping short wondering when even if only in her mind had he become Draco? Shrugging her shoulders realizing she was suddenly very grateful that Ventus was still softly whirling around her as she felt dizzy again and collapsed into one of the chairs. Sighing softly as her new companion rubbed her neck she felt eyes on her, turning around she saw that Draco was still sitting in the same chair just staring at her, though he seemed very far away once Hermione really thought about it.
~~~~~~~
Draco hadn’t slept at all the night before, his brain going over so many thoughts and questions that remained unanswered swirling together keeping him from reaching dream land. What had he seen last night, why did I say those things to Granger, why did she look different, what was going on with the Centaurs and Granger being friendly, why was he jealous of the thought of them being friends? And the largest question of all, why did he Draco Malfoy even care? Draco had learned a long time ago to stay away from those his father didn’t “approve” of as the memory from his childhood shifted into his vision.
‘Tag! You’re it! Come on Draco you have to chase me!’ giggled a small girl with curly red hair and freckles on her nose. Abigail was a girl from the town close to where the Malfoy Manor was. Draco had made friends with her one day when he had be off wondering from the large manor. The two laughed as he chased after her in the large field outside of town his white blonde hair shining in the afternoon sun. He had closed in on her and leapt forward bringing them both screaming with laughter to the ground rolling to a stop.
‘Gotcha Abbie!’ Draco said between giggles, the two small children sat up brushing the grass off of each other.
‘DRACO MALFOY!’ came a booming voice from behind the duo both scrambling up with a shout Abigail coming to hide behind Draco. His father towered over the two, Lucius Malfoy was an imposing figure to those his own age so you can imagine that to two six year olds he was downright scary.
‘F-ffather!’ Draco squeaked back to him knowing that he was in trouble.
‘What are you doing son?’ Lucius sneered down to him coming to stand before them eyeing the girl that stood clinging to his sons back with malice.
‘We were just playing chase Father! But! But I..I.Iwas just coming home!’ He replied quickly taking a step towards his father where he grabbed his arm and pulled him to his side.
‘Run home you silly little girl and never come back!’ Lucius growled down to the little girl with red curls. She cowered back looking at Draco only for a moment before turning and running from their sight.
Draco remembered that was the first night his father used his wand on him when they has returned to the manor; his mother begging for reprieve only to be silenced with her husband’s fist. His father told him that he was weak for playing with the ‘Filthy muggle town girl’ as he beat his son bloody. When it was over his mother took him to his room and cleaned and healed him telling him that one day they would be rid of him. That ‘One day son he will be on the end of your wand and you will end it!’ it was that thought that got Draco to where he was now. That night he also learned that the only way to keep his mother and him off the receiving end of his father’s violence was to follow his ways, even if they weren’t what he believed was right. As he grew he read everything he could get his hands on determined to learn all he could to beat his father one day. Draco remembered when Lucius took him to get his wand toting him around like he was a proud loving father when Draco knew differently.
They had walked into Ollivander’s and were greeted by the white haired man; his father of course treated him like dirt. Ollivander had looked over to him and pulled him back into the rows of wands stacked precariously on dusty selves. He looked at the old wizard with a mask of distain though he only smiled back at him, Draco thought he was odd but was very curious. Ollivander stopped in the back corner and pulled out a long black box opening it before Draco as he stared down into the white paper that concealed a long dark brown wand with a knot right in the middle. Most would probably think an imperfection but Draco thought it only added to the beauty his hand lightly touching the smooth surface. When he picked it up fully brilliant white sparks shot out of the tip making Draco smile his first real smile since he was six. He thanked mister Ollivander and after his father had paid for his wand and pushed Draco out back onto the street he smiled softly to himself as he caressed his new wand that lay hidden in his pocket of his robe. Finally he had a wand and one day he would rid his Mother and himself of his maniac Father.
With that thought Draco trained hard while he was away at school and away from the monster that was Lucius Malfoy, writing to his Mother once a week he would tell her of the progress he was making and tell her how much he loved her and how they would be free soon enough.
Then HE came back and it changed everything. Lucius was still the same evil bastard but now he was the right hand to the biggest evil bastard in Wizarding history along with his Godfather and his Mother’s crazy sister.
Of course he was still beaten but now his father called it “training” instead of what it really was… torcher. His Godfather Severus had attended to his healing after that had begun, also vowing to Draco that he would actually tutor him in the Dark Arts and not just use him as a punching bag and he was true to his word.
Draco was beyond grateful for his godfather, a man who was more like a father to him then his own ever really was. Then during the summer before his sixth year one night he was called down to his Father’s study and there sitting behind his Father’s desk was Voldemort himself. That was the most painful night Draco had ever been through, and when you grow up with Lucius Malfoy as your Father that’s saying a lot. He was branded that night with the Dark Mark, like a servant as if he was owned. In that one night Draco could not have thanked his Godfather enough for his tutoring because without his legilimences training Draco would’ve probably of died. The Dark Lord would’ve seen his true hatred for him and his ‘most loyal’ servant, but Draco was strong, stronger than his father and Voldemort could realize. He was special, like his Godfather, he found out when he started to tutor him in the Dark Arts that the spells came as naturally to him as breathing.
As he thought back to that night before the start of his sixth year he smiled at how far he had come, he didn’t required his wand for most spells anymore, wandless magic becoming second nature. Now if he was separated from his wand he wouldn’t die right away he thought with a dark chuckle.
He was distracted from his thoughts at the sound of the Head Girls door opening. He watched as she walked out, leaving her door open which he though odd because they both made sure their private quarters were always shut. He felt the soft breeze follow her into the room and thought that she must have the doors to her balcony open as her eyes landed on his and he noticed that she seemed to startle for a moment and then look down as she made her way down the stairs to the common room.
‘I wonder what the look was about?’ Draco thought, she had reached the bottom of the stairs and had greeted him good morning and then turned her back to him and started to prepare a table for them to sit at for breakfast. His eyes roamed over her body, following the soft yellow ruffles as they went down to end at her knee his mouth went dry as he tried to sallow as she bent over the table pushing her round butt out as she grabbed two quills. He noticed then that she was barefoot and his mind questioned ‘I wonder what else she has bare under that dress’ Draco smiling softly at the thought, he had a thing for the know-it-all since she had socked him in the nose in third year. Of course never told anyone, knowing that it would get back to his father and a Malfoy with an infatuation with a mudblood.. that just wouldn’t do. He always told himself he only wanted to fuck her, but since last night he began to wonder when that had changed.
He was stirred from his thoughts when he saw that she was now seated and was staring back at him with questioning eyes.
Hermione opened her mouth to say something when a knocked sounded at the door, “Would you mind grabbing that?” she asked softly. Draco shook his head and stood walking over to the door greeting the Headmaster and his Godfather as they came over the threshold.
“Good morning Headmaster, Professor Snape.” Hermione said softly, it was then that Draco finally noticed how drawn she looked.
“Good morning Miss Granger, I hope you are faring well this morning!” Dumbledore said smiling as he made his way over to where she was seated joining her.
“I hear you have quite the story to tell me,” the Headmaster said as his blue eyes twinkled, “but first let’s have some breakfast shall we?” He motioned for the two men standing to take their seats as he snapped his fingers and platters of breakfast food filled the table. Hermione grabbed some eggs, a few strips of bacon as well as a blueberry muffin, they were her favorite. Dumbledore asked if he could pour her a glass of pumpkin juice and she nodded. The four ate in relative silence the Headmaster occasionally remarking on the mornings lovely weather, and how their studies were going. When they had all had their fill the Headmaster waved his hand and the food was gone.
“Now Miss Granger I believe it is time that you tell me why you decided to go out into the forest last night, and why it seems that the Centaurs have taken over your protection while there?”
Hermione went on and told the Headmaster of her journey into the forest, she told him about her talk with Demeter and saw him look over to professor Snape for a moment before returning his attention back to her. She told him about the acceptance of her gifts and then told him of the next thing she remembered was waking up to Malfoy and the Professor about to dual with a group of Centaurs. When Hermione had finished the retelling of her story she had sunk lower into her chair, her energy she felt was almost gone.
“Well Miss Granger this is most interesting indeed. I have heard of this before but not for a very long time, but if I am not mistaken you should have a guide in this journey.” Dumbledore said as he eyed the Head Girl, the color seemed to be draining from her face, “Miss Granger are you feeling alright?”
Had Hermione been able to focus enough on the room not spinning she might have been able to respond. ‘Mistress!’ she heard Ventus in her mind but was too tired to reply, ‘Inanna, you must get out of this place!’ He had begun to swirl around her as parchment began to be lifted with the force of his trying to revive her.
“Where is this wind coming from?” drawled the potions master.
“Granger’s left her balcony door open.” Replied Draco softly, he had been watching her while she told her story. He couldn’t believe that she was the daughter of a Goddess, he knew that if his father and his snake faced lord found out she would be in even more danger. Then something occurred to him, she might be his best way to get off the path his father had set for him. Now his need to have the questions tumbling in his mind answered grew. Draco shook himself of the clogged thoughts and noticed that she seemed to shrink and grow more tired as the tale went on.
“Miss Granger?” the Headmaster said as he stood up from his chair to walk over to the girl. Ventus whirled strongly around her when Snape stood from his chair mumbling about silly know-it-alls as he walked up the stairs to her room, Hermione watched him go but she was too weak to tell him to stop. The professor waved his wand at her balcony doors and the wind was gone from the room.
Hermione felt it the second her connection with Ventus was ended, her stomach did a power flip flop and she fell from her chair one hand clutching her stomach and the other on her head that was now pounding.
Draco and the two professors watched on in horror as the Head Girl suddenly fell from the chair onto the ground in pain. Dumbledore kneeled next to her trying to talk to her but Hermione simply couldn’t make out his words the rushing sound in her ears was too great. Draco had raced around the table and in a show of emotion that shocked both his Godfather and the Headmaster he rested Hermione’s head into his lap.
Inanna looked up into the grey eyes that haunted her dreams the night before, she could see that the man they belonged to was talking to her but she couldn’t hear his words. The edges of her vision were turning black, she couldn’t hold on any longer the pain in her body was too great and she collapsed into the void.
“Miss Granger!” the Headmaster shouted in concern the twinkle that was always present in his gaze gone, “Serverus quickly we must get her to the hospital wing!” the professor raced down the stairs and made a move the pick her up but he was stopped by his godson.
“No!” Draco said suddenly, “I’m the Head Boy..” he said lamely realizing his sudden show of protectiveness. “I’ll carry her, you two lead the way!” picking her small curving form up, bringing her to rest against hard chest he followed the two professors quickly from their room. They ran toward the hospital wing Draco ignoring the shocked stares he was receiving from the students that were in the halls to distracted by the way Granger seemed to fit into him. He noticed that it had begun to storm outside as they ran, curious he thought since it had just been a bright sunny spring morning but the thought quickly flew from his mind as they reached the hospital doors.
“Poppy!” the Headmaster yelled as the barged into the room, she came rushing out of her office, seeing the Head Girl in Draco’s arms she yelled “What happened to Miss Granger?!” motioning him over to a bed to put Hermione on.
“I’m not sure Poppy we were sitting and she suddenly collapsed and passed out.” The medwitch began to run diagnostic spells on the girl, the three men now standing silently at the end of her bed.
“I can’t seem to find the cause Albus.” She said nervously as she continued to wave her wand over the pale Head Girl.
The four were startled suddenly by a rumble of loud thunder and the crack of lighting that made the whole room glow. The three men walked over to the windows and watched as the storm seemed to get increasingly worse. The wind whirled and ripped at the trees on the ground, rain poured from the skies making it hard to see as hail beat against the stone walls of the castle. They heard a loud CRACK as they watched a large limb being ripped from a tree, they watched as it flew towards them smashing into the windows of the hospital wing glass flying inside. Dumbledore quickly threw up a shield to protect them from the shards that flew towards them; the wind followed the glass into the room whistling loudly in their ears as did the rain. It swirled in and they watched as a whirlwind formed around the Head Girl. She was lifted from her bed her curls whipping around her face as the cyclone moved toward the large windows.
“No!” they yelled as they tried to move forward but were thrown back into the wall by a large gust, they watched as Hermione was taken up and out of the window into the ragging storm. Draco finally broke free and ran to the window followed closely by his Godfather; they both stared out into the thick sheets of rain, but couldn’t see her anywhere. Draco turned to his mentor as grey clashed with black, “Where is she?!” he asked in a panicked voice not knowing why he cared so much about the mudblood pain in his ass that now might be his only real chance.
“I don’t know Draco.” He said as he squeezed the boy he thought of as his own on the shoulder looking back at his mentor who’s normally cheery face was a shadow of worry and concern as he helped Madame Pompfrey to her feet.
“Have you ever seen anything like that Albus?” the medwitch asked as she made her way over to the broken windows looking out at the storm that raged on.
“No Poppy.” He said as he waved his wand to clean up the mess of glass, “Severus we have to find Miss Granger, in the weakened state she is in she will be venerable to attack.”
“Yes sir, I’ll head out and begin the search now.” he said nodding as he began to make his way to the doors.
“I’m coming too,” said Draco as they looked at him curiously, “two eyes are better than one after all, and you might run into those centaurs again!”
“Oh and you were such a great help last time?” replied the snarky potions master. Draco opened his mouth to reply when Dumbledore spoke,
“Take him with you Severus, I know he is well trained,” at this Draco’s mouth started to open and close like a fish as he and his godfather exchanged worried glances. “Do not worry, I know that in the dark times we live in we must do and learn what we can to survive. Now go and bring our Head Girl back to where we can look after her safety.” As the Headmaster finished he made his way out of the hospital wing followed by the professor and his pupil.
“Where do you think we should start?” Draco asked his Godfather has they made their way out of the castle.
“We’ll start in the forest.” They had reached the entrance to the castle opening the heavy door to the storm that awaited them on the other side. The pair stepped out with bubble charms around themselves firmly in place and made their way down the stone stairs. “This will be the second time in less than a day that we’re off to find that annoying little know-it-all.” Severus sneered as they walked across the lawn.
“Yes Godfather,” Draco said with a small smile, “it’s becoming a habit.”
They continued to walk a ways finally reaching the tree line of the Forbidden Forest. They made their way into the dense trees off the find the wayward Head Girl who was lost again somewhere inside…
