Draco sighed some and did his best to relax. It was difficult though. He could practically feel the eyes on him even though he was partially hidden from where Crabbe and Goyle were sitting on either side of him like massive guardians. Which, Draco realized, they essentially were. He’d found the letters his two friends had received from his father. Though Draco didn’t doubt they’d come to his defense anyway the orders from the head of the Malfoy house had been very clear. Nothing was to happen to Draco or it would not be good for their health.
Draco sighed again. His father was so over protective nowadays. He’d all but locked the doors to try and keep Draco from coming back to school. Luckily, between Draco and his Mother they were able to convince him to relent. Though now Draco was somewhat wishing he hadn’t been so dead set on it.Draco opened his eyes and glanced across the grass at where some other students were enjoying what was probably the first nice day of the year. It was unseasonably warm for early spring and the most anyone needed was a light jacket to keep the wind off. Draco scowled at the sight of several students quickly looking away from where they’d been staring and the blonde got to his feet. Enjoying the weather was apparently not going to happen. He was so sick of being the spectacle. Honestly, didn’t those idiots have anything better to do? “Let’s go,” Draco ordered as he started across the grass towards the castle.Crabbe and Goyle were right beside him only a moment later. “Honestly, it’s like they’ve never seen anyone relaxing before,” Draco muttered venomously. He would have thought being back for nearly a month would have killed off the looks but they hadn’t. Not even a little bit.“Maybe they can tell,” Goyle suggested softly.Draco stopped in his tracks, his hand moving to his stomach before dropping quickly. “Don’t be stupid,” he snapped with more uncertainty than he’d like. He quickly started walking again and resisted the urge to make sure his jacket was zipped like it was before. He wasn’t really showing at all. Not when he wore his robes or a jacket anyway. They were baggy enough to hide the way his stomach was gently sloped outwards. So far only the teachers and Crabbe and Goyle knew about it and Draco would make sure to keep it that way as long as possible. He knew once it was revealed he’d get stared at more than he was now and he wasn’t terribly eager to have that happen. Not even a little bit. As he made his way through the school, half of the mind to go get something to eat he spotted Madame Pomfrey coming his way. “Mr. Malfoy, there you are. It’s time for your check up,” she said.Draco sighed but nodded a little. Though he really didn’t want to go he did know it was for the best. Things had to be monitored after all. The only reason Draco didn’t complain about it was for that very reason and the fact that he was pretty certain Madame Pomfrey really did care what happened to him. He had a feeling she was a Hufflepuff while in school. Draco waved his hand to Crabbe and Goyle, silently telling them to go. He wouldn’t really need them when he was with the school nurse after all. Plus he liked keeping his weekly checkups rather discrete and that was hard to do with the two of them trailing around after him.He followed the nurse up to Hospital Wing and went to his usual bed. After three other times doing this he’d known what to expect. Draco unzipped his jacket and tossed it across a chair before hopping up onto the clean, sterile, bed and laying back.In this position it was a bit easier to tell that Draco’s stomach wasn’t entirely flat any longer. Though he still wasn’t ‘fat’ per say he wasn’t as trim and fit as he usually was either. He unbuttoned his shirt and opened it to reveal his pale midsection. The slight paunch flattened some from him being on his back but it was still clearly there.Madame Pomfrey gave Draco a bit of a smile and started on her usual check up routine. It involved a lot of wand waving and little bursts of light that Draco couldn’t make heads or tails of but not seeing the woman upset at all made him think that it was entirely predictable. She even nodded a little bit at one point. It wasn’t very long after that when Madame Pomfrey put her wand away and gestured for Draco to sit up. He did so instantly. “Everything looks fine, dear. He’s developing just perfectly. How’s the morning sickness?”Draco waved his hand some. “It’s going away for the most part,” he answered as he started to rebutton his shirt. Just then the door to Hospital Wing opened and Draco barely had time to register it was the one person he didn’t want it to be before he was turning around.“Mr. Potter, what is it this time? Another Quidditch accident?” Madame Pomfrey asked as Draco rushed to finish buttoning up his shirt. He hoped that Potter was being his usual unobservant self today. He didn’t need his secret getting out any sooner than necessary.“Er, actually, Professor Sprout sent me. I got a cut from the Purple Vein Tulip,” he said.“Oh dear, well, just sit over there, Mr. Potter. I’ve got some antidote in my office,” Madame Pomfrey said before hurrying off.Draco grabbed his jacket and quickly pulled it on before daring to turn back around. His checkup was done pretty much and he wasn’t about to continue answering questions with Potter around. The Gryffindor was sitting on a nearby bed with his hand wrapped in a white bandage that was quickly turning red and purple. “What are you doing in here, Draco?” Harry asked, eyeing him far more carefully than Draco wanted him to.“Oh, it’s Draco now is it?” the Blonde almost sneered. “I’m not your friend, Potter. You didn’t want to be if you’ll remember. Don’t start acting like we are now.”Harry frowned but Draco ignored him and started across the Wing to get to the door. He’d come back later if he really needed to but he didn’t figure he would. “So what was that about morning sickness then?” Harry asked and Draco froze with his hand on the knob.“You misheard,” Draco replied shortly.“I don’t think I did,” Harry shot back. “Or you wouldn’t look pale as a ghost right now.”“I’m naturally pale, idiot,” Draco hissed as he turned back around to glare at the other boy. “Just mind your own business.”Harry didn’t look impressed. “Would it kill you to have more than two friends?”“You’re one to talk. You and your little ‘Golden Trio’ you have going on,” Draco snapped. “Besides, I have plenty more than two friends. And they’re all far higher class than any of yours can claim to be.”Harry shook his head some. “Then why are you only ever around Crabbe and Goyle?”Draco blinked some at that, mostly in confusion. “What are you blathering on about this time, Potter?”“Unless you’re eating at the Great Hall… you’re never with any of your other little Slytherin Pals but Crabbe and Goyle. None of them,” Harry declared. “Not even Pansy and I thought you were rather keen on her.”Draco scoffed. “Please, nobody could possibly be keen on Pansy. Give me some credit, Potter.”“So why won’t you let me help?” Harry asked.“Because it’s none of your business,” Draco hissed back as the door to Pomfrey’s office opened again. Draco took his chance to slip out and hurried away from Hospital Wing. He doubted it would take Madame Pomfrey long to treat Potter and he didn’t want to be hanging around when the Gryffindor finally got out. He would most likely try to hunt him down or something. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
