As she stepped out of her room towards the bathroom she could tell that Malfoy wasn't up yet or at least he wasn't out of his room as of yet. Hurrying into the bathroom before she jinxed herself about Malfoy actually being awake or not, she relieved herself as quickly as possible and brushed her teeth before exiting the bathroom.
As soon as she opened the door she saw Malfoy sitting at the table idly eating a piece of bread and cheese, it was easy to see that his refine sense of taste didn't appreciate the meager breakfast.Going towards the cabinet she could tell that his usual confident aura was a little worn looking today. Damn her conscience! She couldn't believe that she was feeling guilty about not feeding the bastard, but she knew if her mother found out what she had done, it would be the world's largest guilt trip in store for her. However, if that mean smug bastard thought she would prepare him food he was out of his mind, guilt trip or not.The clang of pots and pans woke him up from his blank daze; Granger was taking out a pot and some other things. He couldn't watch that bitch make herself another delicious meal, he had to get out of there before he either killed her or made a fool of himself by begging for some; and he could guarantee that the latter would never happen, he'd rather die. Looking up one last time before he pushed himself off, he noticed her working real slow.First she started the fire in the stove, then she put some milk in the pan, then slowly she took it to the stove at let it sit in the burner. Taking out the box of plain oatmeal she poured some in her bowl and put it on the counter, she took a glance at the pan of milk again but turned around to the spice cabinet, there she took out a few spices and lined them up by her bowl: Cinnamon, sugar, and maple syrup.Looking back to the pot they both saw that it was boiling, grabbing a towel she wrapped it around the handle before pouring it over the oatmeal flakes. After stirring until it was all mushy, she picked cinnamon and sugar and lightly spread it over the food before stirring it all in. Lastly she added a little spoonful of butter and let it melt in her food before stirring it again. Satisfied she took her bowl and went out the front door.Soon as the front door closed he started to reenact everything she did. As soon as the milk started to boil he snatched it off the burner and began to pour it over the flakes, before putting the butter and spices in; he stirred it until it looked just like hers.Slowly bringing a spoonful to his mouth his mind started to race with a million thoughts. Granger could very well be tricking him and this concoction could be a bowl of shit. He didn't actually see her eat hers; she could have just chunked it over the cliff. The thought of her laughing at him outside, made him lower the spoon slightly. However, the growling of his stomach reminded him that if he kept up this pace of not eating much everyday he was going to resort to drastic means. Growling low in his chest he shoved the spoon of now cooling oatmeal into his mouth. His eyes widened at the taste of it on his tongue. Instantly he started shoving more into his mouth, putting Weasely to shame with his speed, but Draco didn't care it was too damn good and he was too damn hungry.Outside she waited for Mr. Plympton at the base of a nearby tree, but she knew by looking at her watch he would not be there until exactly fifteen minutes. Slowly she finished the last bite of her oatmeal. She still could not believe what she did for Malfoy, she wondered if the idiot actually took her visual advice. Taking another glance at her watch, she began to stretch.Throwing his dishes in the sink he took a glance at his watch, in a matter of seconds practice would begin. Quickly he opened the door and stepped outside. He knew even without looking at his watch that practice begun; the simple fact that Mr. Plympton was standing in his usual spot in front of their cabin told him that. Turning his head to the left he saw Granger stretching her arms, however she wasn't facing the professor, she was turned facing the woods.Again time seemed to slow down for him as he watched the professor lift his wand toward Granger. The asshole was going to take a shot at her, his lips were already forming the words for whatever curse he was going to throw her way.If Mr. Plympton knew of his presence he didn't let on or just did not care, his focus was on Granger while her back was turned. Draco was faced with a choice: use the opportunity of Plympton's release of the spell and send his own towards him or block his attack. The thought of Granger getting cursed was something he took pleasure in but only if he was the one doing the cursing.Lifting his scepter with his left hand he pointed at his target."(block and reflect)"Hermione's body just reacted as she heard Malfoy's deep voice call out the spell. In one movement she turned around landing in twisted crouch in the opposite direction letting off her own spell from her already drawn scepter."afflictionem dolore (agony affliction)"Malfoy watched as Mr. Plympton blocked Granger's spell with difficulty, but successfully neutralizing it nonetheless.Rising from her position she slowly but cautiously walked over to their professor, she was shocked that her own professor was going to strike her while she was off guard but that shock didn't even compare to Malfoy's actions. He could have easily attacked the professor and watched her be struck with whatever curse the professor had up his sleeve. Taking a glance to her right she saw Malfoy staring intently on the professor."Even though I commend you on a perfect defense and attack counter I know it was completely by accident and on instinct. Even though as you may have been told in the past to follow your instinct, I would rather you not. Because as we have already discussed, your instincts are what have you here in the first place. Now...""But Mr. Plympton how can our instincts be that bad, there what saved us just now." Draco rolled his eyes at Granger's irritating know-it-all voice it drove him crazy."I know you said that if we..."
"Silence Miss Granger we are not at Hogwarts, you will receive no points from me or gain my devotion so save it and shut it."Any other time this would have been the point where he laughed at her being called out, but even Draco had to admit that was harsh and unnecessary. Even though her condescending attitude was fucking annoying to the point where killing her was just around the corner, her question had merit. There was a right to be concerned and ask questions this was their life they were talking about. Looking over to the mudblood he could see her whole body tighten and her arms cross defensively and it was hard to the miss the moisture gathering in the corner of her eye."You know what, I am getting real tired of your shit towards us," with every syllable Draco stepped closer to the stoic faced professor "as far as I am concerned your status is lower than us so I suggest you start showing us a little respect." By the end of his speech Draco was a mere inches from his face.Calmly Mr. Plympton began to smile, but this smile gave Hermione a very bad feeling, something was going to happen, something drastic."Malfoy you should move now!" she stepped forward to grab his shoulder but Mr. Plympton's spell proved to be too fast. Instantly she was bound head to toe with a black vine of some sort, pinning her hands painfully to her side.Malfoy could hear Granger's scream but he didn't dare turn to look at her, because he knew the minute he took his eyes off the man in front of him he would be in worse shape than Granger."Choices Mr. Malfoy that is what you are faced with today. Will you either attack me with blind fury like the animal that you are slowly becoming, or will you take the path of your father, and wait to calculate a malicious plan of attack behind your opponent’s back. The true test and question here is what path shall you choose, what beast shall you become an uncontrollable evil or your father?” his eyes narrowed condescendingly, “Now I know it’s hard for there really isn't much difference but do try. ”The breeze that swept through the forest and over the grassy field that they stood in, swiftly whipped around the warlock.
“I make my own choices and today old man you will die by the claws you have drawn from me.” He lifted up his scepter and released a flurry of spells toward the man all at once, magic that needed no knowledge or skill just raw hate and anger to fuel it.
In her frozen position she watched the two lock into a one sided duel. Mr. Plympton must have already cast a reflecting charm over his wand, because every spell from Malfoy's scepter was sent right back to him with the same speed it left. The fact that she was watching the idiocy take place was appalling enough, but to actually be tied down by a simple vine spell was to the up most embarrassing. How dare that fool of a professor tie her down, she was his better by intellect alone not to mention skill.Like a reviving heartbeat her magic pulsed throughout her body. Then it was Malfoy, that egotistical prick, if he simply would have listened she would not have to be watching this pathetic excuse for a duel. If he ran himself into a brick wall repeatedly she was sure he would get much better results. Fools the lot of them, better yet all of them. They needed to be shown a true duel. The euphoric pulsation through her body was the last coherent thought in her mind.No matter how many different or stronger spells he released on the old fuck; Draco could not get any of his spells to stick.A deep resonating pulse interrupted Draco’s thoughts on another plan of attack. Looking towards the professor he saw the man's usually placid expression pale a bit towards the direction behind him. It wasn't hard for Draco to guess who caused such a surge, one that could make the land as well as his body and scepter hum with anticipation. Slowly turning around he let out a string of curses at the sight.Floating ten feet above the ground was Granger, but not the usual brown haired boring Granger. No that would be the mud-blood witch he was used to, the one where all he had to say was a few nasty words to and he could enjoy a nice heated argument and be on their way in a matter of minutes. However, his fortune proved to be absent again because Granger the white haired, white eyed, and maniacally grinning sorceress bitch was floating in front of him.The vines that Mr. Plympton placed were still loosely wrapped around her body, but her scepter was lying on the ground beneath her."Malfoy, you need to get a hold of her scepter quickly as possible." Mr. Plympton's raspy voice hissed towards him.Turning slightly towards the professor Draco gave him hard look."Now you want something, after the shit you pulled on us. No thank you. How I see it if I let her get rid of you then nearly all my problems are taken care of, you would be dead, Granger locked away, and I’m out of this shack. No I think I will watch." He laughed. What he did not expect was for the bastard to smile."Take another look at her boy and see what she is doing, she his gathering and conjuring." taking another glance at her he watched as her lips constantly murmured and her body inhale and exhale. Squinting he focused on the waves of aura and magic enter and leave her body. "If she continues there will be no Sardinia to leave, and remember Malfoy she hates you just as much right now. You who completely ignored her in her bound position and did not stop to take heed to her warning, not to mention the past hate she has for you. You’re right though, I will die but you will to, for she is the only one that can truly kill you."Son-of-a-bitch, he shouldn't believe a damn word that arsehole had to say, but he did."So what do you want me to do yank her down here and choke her into submission." Now that was pleasant thought."No you fool, because she is only going to curse you into oblivion resulting in your anger. And honestly, a warlock and a sorceress battle wasn't what I had in store for today's lesson.""Then what the hell do we do?!" the wind was starting to pick up while the sky became pitch black, whatever they did they needed to hurry."We apologize....""WHAT!" Surely the wind distorted the man's words."Or you listen and do exactly what I say." The look on the man's face was somehow more serious than its normal deadpan appearance, giving their intense circumstance another boost of suspense."Very well what do we do?""Since you never had the chance to link your wands properly this spell will only work on her once. So you must do it right the first time. Now, do you recall what her scepter’s concealed form looked like?"Trying to talk quietly through her maniacal laughter and her harsh winds, was proving to be frustrating. But trying to answer stupid questions at the same time was just plain infuriating."Yes old man, I think I can recall a bloody necklace that was strapped around her sodding neck."Narrowing his eyes Mr. Plympton ignored his comment and continued, "All you simply have to do is obtain her scepter from underneath her and put it back around her neck. How you do that is completely up to you, I will create the diversion you will need to get the scepter, but remember you only have one chance."Turning from the old man he stared back at Granger's floating body. It was odd to see her so...evil looking. Her face was taught with anger but still held a large grin that made her look completely insane. Draco had to wonder if merely giving back the mudblood's scepter would be enough."Ok old man anytime you're ready."Mr. Plympton stepped back a little until has back touched one of the trees of the dark forest surrounding the clearing. Tapping his wand against the trunk he whispered something to it, even with Draco's enhanced senses he couldn't hear him through the wind. However, it didn't take long to figure it out. The loud rumbling and shaking from behind the floating sorceress caused her to turn. Draco only watched for a second as her white eyes went wide. Branches from all different directions came at her with alarming speed.Being unprepared though, wasn't something Granger was used to. A ring of fire formed around both of her hands as she fought off the trees around her, but every limb she singed five more were coming at her. Finally a branch grabbed her leg pulling her towards the heart of the trees. Granger's screams of fury as she struggled to fly and defend herself were the last thing he witnessed as he scooped up her scepter. The moment his fingers touched it he let out a curse, it was shocking him, but he didn't let it go.The trees had her quartered and ready for her entrapment, as if nature itself wanted this calamity ensnared and brought down. How ironic it was he to be the one to do so. Throwing the wand at her he said the spell."repetere!!!"Twirling in the air, the scepter glowed a bright red before latching around her neck. With a deep pulsation throughout her body from the scepter, the sorceress hung limply from the branches. Slowly the limbs unraveled themselves from her wrist and ankles lowering her gently to the ground. Her face was turned from them as they slowly walked towards them.Mr. Plympton carefully knelt down beside her letting his hand cautiously touch her shoulder.
The feeling of someone touching her was the first feeling she was aware of. Quickly she turned over and caught the offending appendage before it's owner could draw it back. From her position, which happened to be on the ground, she looked up to see a mildly shocked professor and an uneasy Malfoy staring at her. Letting go of the professor's wrist she stood up. Her body felt tired and drained, just what the hell happened to her. All she could remember was being in a binding spell cast by the professor, because the idiot Malfoy."What happened?" her body wasn't the only thing that was in pain her voice hurt too. After a quick summary of what happened they were quickly dismissed, meaning the aparation of their professor leaving them in the middle of the clearing.Starting to walk back into the house, Malfoy noticed his were the only footsteps. Turning slightly he watched as Granger stared out to sea while running her fingers continuously over her choker. The wind from the ocean carried past her towards him bringing a fresher salty smell than its usual one.Turning back around he walked through the door to their shack, leaving the mudblood alone to her tears. Not even going back to the house for her belongings she trudged slowly into the woods in the direction of town. She promised herself that she would go the abbey library, and that is what she was going to do.Wiping the tears that ran down her cheeks she cursed at herself mentally. How could she lose control like that, she was the calm collected one not the brash one like Malfoy. But no, out of the two powerful creatures she was the first one to lose it. The worst part was not being able to remember anything.Emerging from the woods she noticed that the abbey was a lot closer that she thought. Quickly she went behind the houses and through some fields instead of going down the main street. Even though she really enjoyed the company of Bernadette and wanted to meet more people she just was not in the mood to talk to many people today.
Walking up to the door of the church she gently pushed the heavy oak doors open so that she may slip through. Musky dust, the most familiar scent in her life, the smell of old tomes and books. However, there were no books in sight only the view of a dimly lit church.
Beams of sunlight filtered through the plane glass paned windows from high above giving the pews and pulpit an ethereal look. Taking a few steps further down the middle of the aisle, she could distinctly hear her shoes echoes in the rather large room. Walking through the dust filled beams of light she noticed an open doorway to her right, the sunlight pouring in from the room revealed a slightly moving shadow."Hello?" Cautiously walking toward the door, she noticed the figure, which was sitting in the window framed by the bright light making he or she appearing to be a giant shadow, stopped whatever it was doing and stood up. Hermione , stopped walking and waited."I...was...looking for the library, I was told I would find it here." Hoping that if she gave them more information the shadowed figure moving rather slowly towards her would say something and would make her unease go away. Finally, the figure stepped into the light, revealing an old man no taller than her. His eyes squinted at her as his hands searched his ancient clergy robes for something. Stopping their patting his hands produced a pair of circular gold-rimmed spectacles. Slipping them on his face rather quickly he stepped closer and looked her over."Well hello my child, who might you be? I do not think I have ever laid eyes on you before, at least I don't think I have." His body might have been old and frail but his eyes dance with laughter and wisdom, while his smile welcomed her and made her feel at home. If she didn't know better he was somehow related to Dumbledore."No you have not seen me before sir, my name is Hermione I just arrived for a short visit.""Well miss Hermione I am pleased to meet you. I am Father Colldiddle, I was just having tea while I was looking over some material would you care for a cup my child." Even though she hadn't replied yet he was already leading her into his office."I would love some thank you so much father." Colldiddle, his name set off a bell in her brain but she couldn't place it for anything."You said you were looking for books child?""Oh yes father I was told I would find a library here." His office was a library enough, there wasn't an inch of wall not covered by stacks upon stacks of books and scrolls."Then you have come to the right place child, I have more books than I can see, but these are not all of them." With a small chuckle he used the cane by his desk to push the door to the right of his desk open. The sight nearly took her breath away."May I... " she was so nervous she had to put her cup down."Ha ha ha, go ahead, go ahead I will not stop you." Standing up she slowly stepped into the room. It was about the size of the actual church but it was filled to the brim with material. It even looked as if there was a spiral staircase made from books leading to the ceiling. He watched as the brown haired girl twirled and laughed at all the books in the room. In his entire life he was sure he has never seen such a true and glorious reaction from something so simple.88888Her evening spent with father Colldiddle was so insightful it was astounding. He showed her how he organized his vast assortment of books, which looked as if they were merely piled on top of the other at first glance. When she asked where he got all them a blank look crossed of his face. She quickly brought up the architecture of the building to change topics. She had hunch that most of those books were acquired when he was a wizard. Every time he turned his back to her she would try and picture him with a wand; what could he have done to be exiled like this? What kind of wizard was he? What was he good at? What were his favorite spells? Did he have a family? So many questions she wasn't able to ask.It was dusk by the time she emerged from the woods into the clearing of the house. The last trek through the woods at night made her learn her lesson fast on spending all day in the town. Walking up to the front door she realized she didn't bring her key with her, sighing she let her head bang lightly against the door. Even though it was pointless she tried the latch anyways she knew the prick she was living with locked her out.Watching the door swing gently open though was a very bizarre moment for her, a moment that only let one sentence process in her stunned mind; Malfoy left the door unlocked for her.888While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
